Grilled chicken salad and hamburger! Burger is cooked perfectly which is to say it is not well done. It is dripping it's juicy goodness every time I have ordered. I ordered mine dressed with a toasted bun. Grilled chicken is NOT dry not chewy. It is juicy and seasoned really well. Dressing was really good so I inquired and was told it was made in house. Really good lunch spot. Staff are all very accommodating, friendly and fast! I love the roast beef po-boy! I'm use to a wide selection of po-boy places because of growing up in New Orleans. So so pleased to find this little place tucked away in a strip mall next to Sherwin Williams. Best onion rings, French fries as well. They stay busy so the food comes out hot off the grill or fryer. I've never been here when they weren't busy! That is a testament to how good the food is! As the prices of food have gone up paying a bit more for a good lunch isn't so painful. Coming from New Orleans, we happened upon the Lunch Box. Walked in and was met with a pleasant lady taking orders. We opted for hamburgers and lo and behold they were fixed to order perfectly. French fries were hot and crispy. Loved the dining area, old school charm. It's really nice place to meet friends for lunch. The food being served ALL looked great! Okay, so I know they got new owners and people are upset. I never tried them before the new ownership so I can't compare. But this is a 5 star place. We went yesterday and it was packed out. I got the roast beef po and my wife got the BLT burger and we split em. Both astoundingly good. Astoundingly good. I's telling my wife today that I'm still dreaming about that po boy from yesterday. Only thing I didn't like was the Leidenheimer's bread but I never have liked that NOLA bakery. Get you some Lunch Box and go home with a happy tummy! read more

This is a great local spot. It is a busy place because of the short open hours. We were a party of 4 and everyone loved the food with the only minor negative was my wife ordered the chicken salad and would not order again because they use shredded lettuce instead of chopped lettuce. She loved all other parts of the salad. Chicken was great. I got the shrimp poboy and loved it. The bread was and is always something I love about traditional poboys. If you come here expect a little more time because everything is made to order. If they were open on weekends I would be back on Saturday For some reason it is not allowing me to post pics. read more

While visiting friends in Bay St. Louis, we decided to swing in to grab lunch. It's always a great sign when you're struggling to decide what to order because everything sounds delicious. The woman working the register was extremely friendly and helpful. We had to wait maybe 15 minutes for our sandwiches to come out after we ordered. There was a decent number of people inside, so I anticipated the wait. Either way, the food was well worth that small amount of time. I ordered the grilled ham po boy. As you can see from the photo, the sandwich was packed without being too much to manage (iykyk). The ratio of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. were perfect. My one friend ordered the catfish po boy, which she complimented highly. My other friend ordered a shrimp po boy with a side of fries. She too had nothing but great things to say about her sandwich. We all tried the fries. In my opinion they were the perfect amount of crispy and salty. I just can't say enough about how great the food here is! We also ordered a roast beef po boy to go to take back home to a friend. They told us they would hold off on it and prepare it when we were ready to go so it could still be warm. They didn't forgot about us and had it ready right as we were about to head out. Excellent service. As far as the ambiance, it feels perfect for a small family owned lunch place at the coast. It's simple but nice, has a few decorations here and there, and is extremely clean. It makes you feel right at home. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely be stopping by again! read more

Sometimes you just want an old fashioned burger like those of the diner days and this one delivers. Simple and delicious. Patty is a special grind and handmade, old school sesame seed bun and dressed - you know what that means by now. And the fries! Grease so clean and hot there's barely any on the fries. Stopped here on our drive from New Orleans to Mobile because we starving and this place showed up close to where we were. A very unassuming place but the food is incredible. The sandwiches are huge, we had a club, a ham sandwich, and the LG burger which is their take on a Big Mac but with Bacon. One of the tastiest burger I've had. Would love to go back and try some poboys and a muffuletta. read more

Every time we visit Mississippi we make a stop at The Lunch Box. As of this writing they only accept cash or check. You walk up to the counter place your order and take a seat while your sandwich is made. Really calling anything created here a sandwich is an injustice. The Lunch Box serves Po Boys & Muffulettas. Situated in a small strip mall on Hwy 90 - it epitomizes the small, hole-in-the-wall local lunch joint. The interior is sparse, the soda is served in a can and the food is unbelievable. Thus far I have sampled: Shrimp Po Boy - Loads of fresh Gulf Coast shrimp lightly fried on French bread with tomato, shredded lettuce and mayo. (all the stuff after the shrimp is known as being "fully dressed") Roast Beef Po Boy - French bread loaded with roast beef fully dressed with lots of beef gravy making this sandwich a serious delicious catastrophe to eat. Hot Sausage Po Boy - Insanely good country pork sausage pressed into a rectangular shape and fully dressed with a little bit of kick. In laws said it was not traditional but all agreed it was delicious. Looking forward to my next visit to Waveland - Bay St Louis...hoping to have the fried oyster po boy. This is one time where Yelp reviews have failed me. The roast beef Po-Boy was probably one of the worst things I've ever put into my mouth. That and half way through my first couple of bites my wife pointed out a guest on the floor of the restaurant (see photo). The staff was friendly that's why I'm giving them one star. Muffalatta. Mufuletta. Mufulata. Take your pick, it's darned good. And that lovely smell that hits you when you walk in is that hamburger mushroom steak thingy. Talk about your comfort food. Located in a Waveland strip mall, this place has been around for awhile and I have been here many times. Can't beat the daily hot plate specials. Very good red beans and rice, spahgetti, chopped steak plate....and hard to beat their roast beef, shrimp poboys...excellent mufallettas....prices are very reasonable! read more
