Came here with family for lunch and had such a great experience! We were seated and greeted right away, and Emily was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Highly recommend asking for her! The menu made choosing difficult because everything sounded delicious. There were plenty of seafood options, plus several great choices for our daughter who doesn't eat seafood. She ordered the grilled chicken entrée and fried mozzarella sticks and gave both a big thumbs up. My husband had the BBQ shrimp with an ah-maze-ing sauce that absolutely stole the show. We dipped everything in it--the cheddar biscuits, my hushpuppies, and even my fried catfish and soft shell crab. It was so good that I brought the extra sauce home with my leftovers and couldn't wait to eat them later that night... and I'm usually not a leftovers person! Long story short: definitely go, order the seafood, and ask for Emily! read more

So I've driven past the Picayune exit going from New Orleans into Mississippi a huge number of times over the decades and I've recently thought about stopping to check this restaurant out. So after many decades I finally pulled off the highway and went to Atchafalaya Seafood. The restaurant was MUCH larger than I thought it would be and it was also quite crowded and the customers all seemed to be enjoying themselves here. The overall ambiance of the space was pretty energetic with lots of folks coming and going. So I got a seafood gumbo to start and the grouper for my main course. The seafood gumbo was the best I've had in Mississippi but not quite up to Louisiana standards but VERY close and far closer than the all the Alabama soups they call "gumbo" I've had with the exception of the gumbo at Tamara's Downtown in Fairhope which actually can be the only place in Alabama that serves what I would call a gumbo so far. The grouper dish was simple but very tasty and served with some nicely done veggies so it was a refreshing and healthy dish I found quite pleasing. Overall this is best seafood I've ever had in Mississippi. read more

Large parking lot, wide entrances and exits. Walking in, I was promptly greeted and seated. Everything was clean and neat, decorated like a typical American seafood restaurant. The food was good, I got the seafood pasta. Very filling. If I was in the area, I would go back. read more

The service was excellent. My only complaint was that I asked if the catfish was sliced thin the waitress said it was, and when it came, my plate was piled high with catfish. There were 6 fillets . They were not sliced thin. They were the thick slices somebody else might enjoy taking home all that fish, but I gave a piece to each one of the people at the table and still took home two fillets. They were good but they should warn you when you order a plate. How much is on it or maybe I just have to learn to ask the right questions . we didn't even have an appetizer. Almost forgot. We ordered cheese and macaroni. The cheese and macaroni was great but again three of us could've eaten from the one serving . I guess the best thing is to look around the restaurant to get an idea or to plan on it being two or 3 servings. Also they only have bottled water and the charge is the same as coke or coffee. $$$. read more

We were in town and it was lunch time so we decided to check this place out. Looks like they turned an old Ryans buffet into a seafood restaurant. It was lunch time so a little busy but they jad opens seats at the bar and that is where we sat. Great service from the bartenders, took care of us very well. My wife had the bayou rolls as an appetizer and we split a catfish/shrimp combo platter which came with 2 sides that the wife got. I got a separate order of fries which were the steak fries. Everything was great. For dessert we had a cheesecake and the white chocolate bread pudding. All around a great place if you are in the mood for seafood. read more

We were invited by friends to join them for lunch so we met them there. The restaurant seemed crowded by the parking lot, but the inside is real spacious. We were seated right away. The restaurant was very clean, the server was nice, although we waited a while before the actual drinks were bought to the table. They do have tvs's, but certain ones can only play certain channels. The food came and everything looked great and yes, it taste great also. We did share the BAYOU rolls, I think that's what they were called, as an appetizer. I had the BBQ shrimp, which were delicious and they had a decent amount of shrimp and 2 biscuits with plenty of sauce. My husband enjoyed his seafood platter -half-nhalf and the shrimp were really big. Everything was satisfying, the restaurant atmosphere was great. We will definitely be back. read more

First time here and we will be back. Friendly and welcoming staff. We went at 4:30 so no wait time. It's a large restaurant so there's lots of tables and a bar with seating as well. Everything we ordered was hot and delicious. The fried pickles were some of the best we've had. We also had chargrilled oysters that had loads of butter and Parmesan cheese. There was one seasoning spice that we weren't crazy about though. We were thankful that none of the fried food was greasy like so many other seafood places we've eaten at. Delicious food at reasonable prices. read more

Best steak in Picayune. I do not rate it a 5 lightly. Great experience though and through every time. I have not had anything here that I would not recommend. Heck I'd take any of the kid entrées over any regular meal at any Other picayune restaurants. 10/10 read more

We stopped here for lunch on our way to San Antonio based on Yelp reviews :) The food was delicious!! We had the Charbroiled Oysters and they were fantastic! (Forgot to snap a picture before we scarfed them down). We also had the New Orleans BBQ shrimp and the lunch special of fried shrimp/fried catfish. Also delish! The service was great and fast. The prices were very reasonable. Ambience was great with some good music playing. FYI... if you order water to drink it comes in a bottle which is great. I was just glad they only charged $1.00/bottle. Bathrooms are clean too ... always a plus!! Highly recommend as a pit stop if you're traveling!! It's right off Interstate 59. read more

The wife and I have been to Atchagalaya Seafood (AS) three times now. I have had three different meals now. The first was salmon. T was done very good. The next time was a muffaletta which wasn't that great. I have had the pleasure of eating several from around the country to include NOLA. This one misses the mark by a mile. The third time I had the Shrimp Pobo. The wife had a shrimp dish. The waiter spilled the melted butter on the table and my sandwich. He failed to offer any napkins or to clean it up as it was also in the table, chair and floor. The sandwich was cold. I sent it back. The waitress came by and we asked for napkins to clean the mess, seeing the staff wasn't. My wife loves salt. She salts everything. She found her shrimp soaked in salt. I tried one while I was waiting for my sandwich to be returned and also found them extremely salty. She was only able to eat half of her dish and took the rest home to the dogs. I am disappointed enough given the cost, never to go back again. One out of three is not good enough. read more

Hospitality and friendliness of staff is lacking , food decent but not something I'm going to rave over and charging for water is ridiculous ! Was and am still glad to have another offering here in the yune that looks clean , organized and efficient but your staff lacks in hospitality skills that shows poor leadership as guests / customers can get great service and ok food in many other places in the surrounding area . read more

This restaurant is quite popular here in town and offers plenty of options to make your tummy happy (and perhaps empty your wallet) one downside to eating here is that they don't have tap water and make you pay for a bottle. Their portions are quite large most of the time so ask your server if they think 2 people could share something (for instance, fried soft-shell crabs come with 3) they have multiple TV's and a bar so it's a great place to watch a game. This is a great place to eat with family and friends and will surely provide you with a great time. (We miss you #Ryans) read more

This restaurant had great food options, I'm allergic to seafood and there was plenty of options. Available to meet my needs. My Husband's meal was big enough for two people to split. I had the Cuban sandwich which was huge. The food could use a little salt, however, service was excellent and the food was just as well. A great family restaurant or a place to go after work with friends. read more

I enjoyed my first visit here last night. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a Lemondrop Martini and a bottled water (I don't have a problem with paying for bottled water like the California #libtard in previous review) but let customers know if there is a charge first. Very cute bartender. We ordered the Atchafalaya Seafood Salad to-go since it was already 9pm and closing soon. There was a large group of customers that had an event or a "family reunion" here. One of the larger female (I guess) customers got up in the waitresses face complaining and called the waitress a "hoe" but demanded her respect at the same time. Total disrespect from the customer. Tell them to never come back again! The cops had to drive through the parking lot to make sure everything was ok. It's always the same types of customers making a false complaint to try and get something for free #SMH read more

I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The only issue, not really an issue, was our waitress, Holly. She had long dark red hair. She was different from the start, coming to our table after we had been sitting there for a while and asking if someone had been over here, we responded no, and she proceeded to ask what we wanted to drink. Now she was the only waitress we saw in the area our entire visit, and the restaurant had pretty much cleared out when we arrived. Anyway, she never backed up to greet us or even introduce herself. My dad ordered lemonade, and my mother and I wanted water. She said they only had bottle water. We asked if there was a charge, she responded that she didn't know. Moving on, we ordered our food: onion rings, catfish platter, shrimp platter, and a blackened catfish plate with jambalaya. Everything thing was delicious, and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp were jumbo, plentiful and fried to perfection, and the Cajun fried potatoes left me wanting more. Fast forward to the bill, be paid with cash, including enough for her tip. She wasn't the best, but still tipped her. She took the money, said NOTHING. We were still sitting there when she finally came back out and she still said nothing, no did you need change, nor thank you have a great day. At that point, I wish I had given her tip to the nice young lady who delivered the food and the young man who I believed would have cleared off the table. As we left, both of them thanked us for coming and wished up a nice evening, as well as the hostesses. Because I didn't get her name at the beginning, I had to ask her name before leaving to include in this review. I would definitely love to visit again, but by no means would I want Holly to be my waitress. Located in the old Ryan's building in Picayune, MS., the inside has been beautifully renovated, with a bar and plenty of seating, especially for large parties. A great place to watch some football on Sundays as well. read more

We found this gem off of I-59 traveling through the area. The food and service here were spectacular. This was a casual dining late lunch on the weekend but we were immediately seated and promptly greeted. Great bar area with TVs but also a very large open spacious dining area with plenty of tables. Everything was clean and comfortable. Sam was the best server, she helped with our menu selections and was very attentive. The onion rings are homemade and portion size for this appetizer was huge. Highly recommend! The appetizer size bowl of gumbo (sausage and chicken) was delicious, one of the best gumbos I've ever had. We got bbq shrimp pasta and a redfish orleans for main course. Again, these were such large servings and we were happy to bring home leftovers. Everything was very flavorful and perfectly seasoned. We saw many others who ordered the boiled crawfish plates and they said the crawfish and crab legs were also delicious. There is a seafood market where you can purchase (to go) fresh shrimp, fish, crawfish or crabs and other frozen season dishes to take home. We frequent the Mississippi's coast and will definitely be coming back here when in the area. Skip the New Orleans restaurants with the crowds and high prices and eat here! Great experience! read more

Wow! Just WOW! The hardest part was choosing what to order. I'm gluten intolerant, but still had several choices. My sisters and I all ordered the Atchafalaya salad and it came heaped with crab meat, shrimp, crawfish and olive salad. The Atchafalaya dressing was a roumalade dressing. Excellent and large servings. The restaurant was crowded on a Sunday at lunchtime, but our server, Olivia, checked on us several times. I'm gonna guess they have excellent management because every employee I passed on the way to the ladies room and back made eye contact and smiled. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I just tried the poboy. Yeah no. The bread is unacceptable. Not worth it. I bet you could get a poboy like that someplace up north and know why it's like that but in picayune Ms they should know better and calling yourself Atchafalaya Seafood puts some extra on that. The food was delicious and hot. The service was quick and easy with over the phone ordering. The cashier was kind.

The food was EXCELLENT the service was EXCELLENT. One problem: we asked for a ice water and were charged for the bottled water ( we did not ask for bottled water). When I inquired why we were charged the response was the owners didn't like the taste of tap water. They should either get a filtration system or tell their customers that water will be charged. Very Nickle and dime mandatory charge. My average bill is always over $50 so its not about the expense it's about not having a choice and not being told upfront on the water charge,? read more

They did it again! The food was amazing and customer service was exceptional! After working in my yard all day, I decided to pick ip dinner from Atchafalaya Seafood. Evidently they don't deal with large parties well. We had a table of 8, one of the meals did not come until the check came. Another meal didn't show up until halfway through. After paying $35 for the snow crabs with corn, potatoes and sausage we got two clusters and 1 corn. The waiter was very rude. Asked to speak with the manager but he never even had the gumption to walk to the table to speak with us. Over $400 total and everyone was disappointed. We will never be back. read more

Our first experience here wasn't the best. However, they had just opened so we took that into consideration and tried again. I'm glad we did! We enjoy this place very much! The fried seafood is very good. I always get shrimp on a bun. The onion rings and fried mushrooms are so good too! I have enjoyed everything except the jambalaya... it was terrible. The boiled crawfish are seasoned well and the chocolate lava cake is delish! Service is good each visit and we never have to wait. It's close to home so that's another plus. Can't beat that. Don't waste your time. Service was terrible. Staff was unknowledgeable about the ingredients. The hostess couldn't answer our questions and left to get the manager for us but she refused to come talk to us and sent the poor hostess back with half assed answers. We figured the waitress could help answer more questions. We were wrong. We asked to see the manager. Waited 5 minutes for the manager to finally come out. She was equally CLUELESS about the ingredients. She had zero empathy about my wife's gluten allergies and couldn't say one way or another about what the hell was in the food!? We'll N E V E R return here nor recommend it... plenty of other really nice restaurants around here that have a clue. 6% of the US population have gluten issues thanks to the shit food the system has produced for us. This place just petals sub par food. And OMG THE DRINKS WERE STRAIGHT TRASH!!! If ZERO star was an option... these guys would most definitely get it! read more
