We were so happy to find little local place while driving through. The food was fantastic and the service was very good. The spinach artichoke dips serviced with fried bow tie pasta was amazing. Been here many times. This evening was very bad. We sat for about 30 minutes and was never waited on. Had couple different other groups came in after us and was pretty much instantly waited on. First of all, Fatty's Seafood in Picayune has the best seafood and Cajun Creole classics all under one roof. I had the Crawfish Two-Step, which had the typical crawfish etoufee but with fried crawfish tails on top. It's an extremely irresistible plate, and way better than all other restaurant offerings of etoufee. Our waitress Alyssa did a decent job with our service, but we weren't asked if we wanted to order dessert, and on top of that, she should have been more friendly with the service we had for dinner at the Picayune Fatty's location. But on a high note, the ambiance looks pretty magnificent; it has Mardi Gras and New Orleans jazz festival replica framed pictures. It's got everything Cajun Creole-related inside the restaurant! I'm glad that I enjoyed the food and New Orleans hospitality north of the state line, but the service was a very slight disappointment for some reason. read more

Very disappointed. We drove from Gulfport at 8:00 on Saturday night. We ordered spinach dip, eggplant pasta and cap n fatty. Everything was cold, Everything. The pasta was sitting in water with sauce over it. The fried seafood must have been under a heat light, It definitely was not dropped when ordered. No tarter or cocktail sauce with the seafood plate. Was told they only had two servers and THEY DIDNT WANT TO STRESS THEM WHEN CLEARLY WE SEEN 5 waitresses not including the one just sitting around twiddling their thumbs! I don't believe in stressing workers out but customer service is the top priority especially in a restaurant. WHY WOULD YOU ONLY HAVE TWO SERVERS ON MOTHERS DAY!!! (if that was true). If there were two servers they had one table of 8 and two tables of 4. I've seen servers handle more than that. The cherry on the top was when they sat two 4 tops and the manager said they can't sit anyone else until the floor clears out. The two came in after we were there 20 min!! Really disappointing. Our party of six arrived on a Thursday night and were seated right away. We ordered the seafood nachos to start. we were all hungry so when they came out we pretty much devoured them. They were absolutely delicious. The tortillas were flour and had an amazing texture and flavor paired with the jalapeño cheese sauce. It wasn't until about halfway through however, that we realized there was no crab meat on them. Our server was trying to be very helpful and asked if we wanted another order made. Since we had eaten most of it, it didn't make sense, and we declined. A while later she came out with a small bowl with a few pieces of white crab meat. Because the nachos were so good, we had high expectations for the rest of the meal. After we ordered, we got our food AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES LATER! However, 30 minutes into the wait time, our server informed us that they were out of the "buy one get one half off" dungeness crab and asked if we wanted to substitute them with snow crab. We agreed. My daughter got an ahi tuna salad that was supposed to be served over shredded cabbage with sliced avocado. It came out on iceberg lettuce with one small sliver of brown avocado. When she asked the server if she could have a side of avocado, she was told "we ran out." Heck, for the amount of time we had to wait, they could've driven down to the local grocery store and bought a few! My SIL had ordered a simple cheeseburger cooked medium. It came out well-done. The Cajun Alfredo was awful. It was watery and lacked flavor and the pasta had a strange texture. My shrimp and grits was ok. When we finally got the crab legs they were thin, brittle and NOT fresh. We couldn't crack the shells, they were too flexible and the meat stuck to the inside shell. During our trip to the bathroom, it looked like they were pretty clean inside, but dark-colored wear in the paint on the doors made them look filthy (I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to wipe it with a wet paper towel). None of it was really the servers fault. Anyway, when my family members were able to get some meat out of the crab, they dipped it in the "butter" and were appalled. We're not sure exactly what it was. I stopped the passing server and asked if it was possible that something could have been wrong with it. She said the server could've gotten it off the "line" instead of using the clarified butter they were supposed to. She came back out and said that it was just unsalted butter. That's definitely not what the problem was. With the most politeness I could muster I informed her that since we couldn't get the meat out of the crab legs anyway it probably wasn't a big deal. It turns out she was a manager and made some concessions on the bill. I just have to say that if this was my restaurant, there is no way I would've let food go out of the kitchen in the condition that it came out to our table. We visited New Orleans today for Harry Potter in concert and afterwards We decided stopped at the location in Slidell on our way home but, they were closing early for a Mardi Gras parade that was happening right in front of their business, not wanting to get stuck in traffic we decided not to stay.So, then we decided to visit the picayune location (not mad we were heading that direction anyway and it was not out of our way at all) so glad we did!!! Our server was FAITH ! and she was awesome! she was very attentive and very kind. I ordered the Fatty's Bloody Mary and fried crab claws to start my boyfriend got a beer, Faith brought us water as well but surprisingly even the bartender came by and asked how the drinks were and asked if we needed anything . After that we placed our order the app was out in maybe 5-6 min as soon as we were done with our app our food was coming out. I ordered the BBQ shrimp and a side of rice pilaf, my bf ordered the Cap n' fatty seafood platter and it was huge! He did add the oysters EVERYTHING WAS GREAT!!! I would give 10 stars if I could! Sunday @ 01:15pm my friends and I had a light lunch. I ordered a bowl of gumbo. This was a mistake. The menu stated okra and shrimp. There was a very little shrimp but I didn't find any okra. The food was very disappointing. We swung through around 3 pm on a Monday so it was pretty dead. We were the only people there. Ordered our food and either they had it sitting waiting on another party members order or it was just crappy meal. Wife's sandwich was soggy and my shrimp was hit or miss, warm to cold. My pound of shrimp was $15 my dad ordered the fattys feast, which ended up costing about $60 it came with a pound of shrimp and one cluster of snow and a cluster of Dungeness. So his two clusters cost about $45 which I understand the price is market based but that just seems to be a joke. Maybe it was just a bad day for them or something else. In a location where several restaurants have come and gone, it takes a brave soul to attempt to go where - so far - no on has gone before. But hats off to Fatty's for giving it a shot! We came in for dinner and tried the Fat Cat and the Boiled Shrimp. My wife liked hers (the Fat Cat) which consisted of fried catfish on a bed of Shrimp Etouffe. I tasted it and it was very good. The boiled shrimp were plentiful and at a good price but were a little over cooked. And the vegetables that came with it had absorbed an extreme amount of seasoning resulting in a level of spice that was too much to really enjoy. Service was good and atmosphere was fine. We recently purchased a second home in Picayune and was excited to eat here. It was a really nice set up and even had a few outdoor tables. Upon reaching the hostess desk, she was very confused. Said she was told to relay that there was an extra long wait on regular food but not on boiled seafood. We didn't mind a bit, figured we would have a few drinks. The waitress came right away and by the end of it all were told she had only just started there. Basically the mistakes were one after another but forgivable because the manager and owner were so eager to correct them! What a nice staff. Soup never came until I complained and salad came after the entree and only after i asked. Had to wait a long while for refills. The seafood platter was void of all seasoning, it desperately needed salt at the very least. But it was fried perfectly. The alcoholic beverages were on point!!! No complaints there. We tried a few. For dessert we got the bread pudding and it was more like overcooked cinnamon cake. No sauce at all. Maybe we will give it a second shot and I'll be able to update this review. read more

I've tried it a few times with out any success, having just come back today from 6 months in south Texas I decided I wanted some fried seafood, being Monday in Picayune selections are limited. To the point, seafood is bland, after reading the menu with the family history and naming the place I do not believe they know anything about seafood or have totally lost touch with the restaurant. The know nothing about creole, Cajun or southern cooking, I believe most of the items come in bags that are served that the kitchen just heats up. BBQ shrimp? Omg have the people who own this place even been to New Orleans? Little advice go to Pascal's Manale In Napoleon.ave and have their BBQ shrimp. What we were served looked like brown gravy in a packet poured over some over cooked shrimp that would not peel. I would never attempt the crawfish here because they are always re-dipped unless it's the exact time they come out. Please go to Acadiana and learn how to boil crawfish per order it's not hard. While staying in the town of Picayune with my wife we decided to go to NOLA. While we went there and saw everything we knew that it wasn't for us to eat there. So we decided to see if there was anything outside which there is, however Fatty's caught our attention. We decided to come eat here. Although we waiting for about 5 minutes to be seated while it wasn't busy we could not complain about the amazing tasting food. We ordered The original seafood nachos which were amazing. The queso was so good on the flour chips as well as the shrimp and crab meat that was there. My wife ordered the four seasons pasta and her only complaint was that the sauce wasn't thick enough but was still good. I asked our waitress Alyssa what her favorite menu item was. While she had many different ones she recommended me the cuco which was three shrimp tacos. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting read more

I've Eaten there on several occasions and usually get Fried Seafood with the Crab Claw Appetizer. However, the last two times I ate there, apparently they were frying food in Old Oil, which is very noticeable and disgusting. I haven't returned after the second experience with tasting Old Oil, I had ordered the Capt. Seafood Platter, which I took home and the Dogs, wouldn't even eat it, NO JOKE..!! I thoroughly did not enjoy the food. I am a southern man who lives of of seafood, chicken and all together every kind of meat there is. Deep fry it and I'm pretty happy! However, Fatty's did not deliver any of the seasoned batter or seafood that I have come to expect from southern cooking. I ordered a shrimp po'boy, a staple in this area, and the batter was so bland I couldn't eat it. The oil they used to fry the shrimp in tasted as though they hadn't changed it in a couple of weeks. No crunch to the breaded shrimp, it did however fall off my shrimp leaving my with overly cooked bread, pickles and a basic bland sauce. I also order a shrimp cocktail, which wasn't to terrible, but again the shrimp was so bland and had no taste at all. My father ordered the Fatty's captain? (Something like that, it comes with shrimp, oyster, Alligator...etc) and truth be told that was also horrible. I'm not sure what oil they use or if they change it out but honestly it was such a bad experience. I will never go back and encourage people to not eat there. We stopped here on our trip home from NOLA and it was SOOOOOO GOOD! The cream cheese and jalapeño pepper stuffed shrimp that were then wrapped in bacon and came with pepper jelly sauce....oh so good!!! It was a really cool place with very good food and service. Until recently Picayune was a dry city and even nbow there are few venues in town that serve mixed drinks...enter Fattys. I'm familiar with Fattys from their Slidell location so when they opened here a while back I welcomed the opportunity for a good drink with my meal. The staff are great, no complaints, and the food is great. Their menu has a lot of Fattys-unique items, a really good selection of lunch and dinner items well worth the price...and did I mention the drinks? They fill that niche between the more traditional restaurants and the seafood restaurants nicely, and we've never had any complaints about anything we've eaten (or drank) there. My main obstacle is getting past their though it's hard for me to get past their barbecued shrimp, I'm addicted to them. I usually eat two servings and, if for some reason I have to demure and get a 'go box', I find them great the next day too. And don't forget bread to get that gravy they come with. You're not going to find anything on their menu that isn't good, main problem you'll have is trying to decide on what you'll have, there's so much there. Oh yeah, and did I mention the drinks? The only thing that drags me back to 4 instead of 5 stars is the restaurant is noisy. There are few if any 'soft' surfaces, the floor, ceiling and walls are all hard and it doesn't take too many tables of people chatting, combined with background noise, to add an uncomfortable edge to what should be a relaxing meal. We are down to dining during the slowest periods to make the experience more pleasant or just making it a 'to go' experience. We visit less due to the noise factor, there are other different venues in town, but wish it were more pleasant noise-wise as we miss the food fresh from the kitchen at times we'd prefer to be there.
