Wow!! What an amazing restaurant in downtown Covington. I've been here for both lunch and breakfast and both meals have been 11/10. My lunch meal was spaghetti and meatballs and it was very flavorful. For breakfast, I got the blueberry waffle and omg it was DELICIOUS!!! I would say this is the best breakfast place on the north shore in my opinion and it is always packed so It's definitely a fan favorite! The service is always very friendly too. read more

This is a nice little local restaurant within walking distance of the Southern Hotel. When we arrived around 8:30 it wasn't that busy but it got very busy on a weekday right before New Year's eve. I can't remember what I got but I know it was delicious and everyone else enjoyed their meal too. There were four of us. I do recommend this place. read more

Today's lunch at Mattina Bella was my St. Patrick's Day is Irish-American tradition meal of Cornbeef, Cabbage, Carrots and Cornbread. First, I would like to say this lunch meal hit the spot (I was Hungry). I did clean my plate with only a couple of pet peeves. But presentation is a C- and it was mildly warm and not hot. Service was alright/ok but you would think as a "Special of the Day" your food would come quicker. I guess they had to go kill the animal to get the protein. Cabbage is not that's expensive but for close to $20 you'd expect a better portion on vegetables. One thing that sticks with me since my early cooking days: Cut the same, cook the same but whoever was on the Carrots also forgot the seasoning and said F-it! ‍. Lastly, if you are going to provide bottled condiments, atl least make sure the tip/caps are clean....I hate this. Need to travel with my own Louisiana Hotsauce. Customer service was subpar as during my meal, no check up, refill, how was your meal or nothing. Shock However, the young lady was quick with my check and bill but she said "No Rush"! Food is always good, freshly made. The coffee is kind of like meh chain hotel coffee. I guess they don't have better so you'll order a cocktail. The service is good and friendly. The exception being one time we went to the bar and got fussed at (by a prissy girl!) for not sitting in the pairs they want you to sit in. Restaurant is nice in an old building. Very loud when it's crowded which is usually when we are there. :D read more

For my meal I had the Louisiana crab eggs Benedict. It was the best eggs Benedict I have ever had in my life. Instead of a English muffin, it was a grits cake. Just finished up another great meal at MB. This time it was lunch and I had the company of my husband. I got the Redfish salad and swapped the pepper jelly dressing for the balsamic its typically served with. Since moving to LA, I cannot get enough of pepper jelly and this dressing was excellent. It was a great compliment and contrast to the salty bleu cheese and tender/flaky/flavorful blackened redfish. My husband had a chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. Cooked at his temperature of choice, he had gouda and added onions for thanksgiving extra flavor and texture. We had mismosas and coffee with the meal. A simple touch to finish up the complexly flavored meal. As usual, service was excellent and the restaurant was filled with lively families enjoying a perfect weather Saturday! read more

Oh my, Martina Bella is simply fabulous, the food is AMAZING. If w a looking for breakfast they have a large selection to choose from. Or if you are looking for lunch they have special every day. I hate you're about two or three times a month and I used to just get the breakfast items but lately I've been eating the daily specials and they are some of the best on the North Shore. The roast beef, mashed potatoes, and vegetables I had and they have every Tuesday what is the best tasting roast beef I have ever had in my lifetime and believe me I've had a lot. I've never been disappointed or unsatisfied at this restaurant. They open for breakfast and lunch only, and they do those two meals wonderfully. The food is always great! The service is good, and they make the best salad in town! I stand by that! The Grilled Chicken Bella Salad, with it's house made Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing if absolutely the most delicious salad I've eaten. And I've traveled all over the world. I've eaten several other meals from there, and not one has been a disappointment. No ha yet what you choose, you can't go wrong. The dining area itself is relatively small, but very cozy. It can be a tiny bit loud from time to time, but nothing overwhelming. It's usually a friendly crowd and laughter & chatting rolls through the room with ease. Believe me, you'll love it. read more

I don't know why I haven't written a review sooner because this is one of my all-time favorite breakfast places. The food is outstanding and so are the prices. While eating out these days almost requires a home equity loan, you can get a fantastic breakfast and still walk out with money in your pocket. Yesterday, my son and I went there, and he had steak and eggs with grits, and I had a lump crabmeat (a lot) Benedict for less than $40. That crab Benedict, along with the salmon Benedict and the lump crabmeat omelet, are three of my favorites. But, everything is fantastic and the service is as well. I've eaten there on and off for many years and have never been disappointed. I dropped by this Sunday for brunch with a guest from out of town, and they knocked it out of the park. They have a signature brunch dish, Eggs Louisiane, that is a beautiful combination of crawfish and andouille served in an eggs Benedict style on a grit cake that is absolutely exceptional. You won't find better anywhere in the New Orleans region, and that's saying a lot. They seem to get better and better every year, and that includes both the food and the hospitality. You're always treated like a welcome guest. They also take dietary restrictions very seriously and will happily accommodate special requests. This is a great breakfast spot. The eggs Benedict with bacon (not Canadian) is delicious! The side of breakfast potatoes are yummy as well. They also offer gluten free English muffins, which is a huge draw for us. We like to come here for breakfast any time we visit Covington. It's been a bit since I've been due to my brother's restaurant opening down the street, but it still has great food! Breakfast is always a hit, be sure to get there early on the weekend as a lot of old timers tend to go to breakfast at Mattina Bella! We arrived just before closing and waitress told us to come on in and made us feel welcome. The food was incredible the red sauce was delicious (but not acidic)with a hint of sweet to it I had the meat balls and the wife veal Parmesan meals came with rosemary garlic bread. It sound weird but we shared a blueberry waffle with extra blueberries for desert. The restaurant was decorated nicely with tablecloths.
