So Friday Night we went here for dinner. 5 of us. Figured we would get the lobster special that starts at 5:00 pm. We arrived at 6:00 pm. There were 16-20 people in the restaurant including us. We told the waitress we wanted 5 of the lobster specials. She had to go check if they still had any. Huh? This just started at 5 and the place is empty. She comes back and says they only have two available. WTF? Typical bait and switch. Oh and the best part, a table seated after we were brought the "last two lobsters " ordered and received what? I came here after church with my boyfriend and his mom. The service was fantastic- everyone was kind, attentive, accommodating, and engaging. I was super excited to get a coffee. I had been through the drive through once before and gotten an iced mocha latte. It was what u refer to as "cigarette in a cup" and had the burnt flavor. I was happy to give them another shot though. This time I got a carrot soufflé and an iced latte with cookie dough syrup. I was sad to see the shelf full of torani syrups, as I'm a HUGE proponent for homemade syrups. I got my latte and it was certainly better than last time, but it still wasn't good. It still had that burnt cigarette flavor. However, the carrot soufflé was quite yummy, and I have to cut them some slack for my coffee, as I am a VERY picky coffee drinker. read more

Tina is our cordial, informative server. 5 of us sailors visiting this area for a reunion decided on dining here. I ordered Santa Fe eggrolls which were hot, and very tasty. 1 shipmate ordered a Cuban, another ordered biscuits and gravy, another ordered a shrimp poppy and another ordered breakfast plate with pancake, fried eggs, and hashbrowns. Abita Roasting Co. is near downtown and boasts a neat, contemporary venue that is both tasteful and comfortable. Table service is friendly and efficient, and the menu features great choices for breakfast (omelets, biscuits, smoothies, etc.), brunch favorites (burgers, specialty sandwiches, signature salads, fried seafood), and a wide selection of dessert items (sweet rolls, cookies, brownies, etc.). Another roaster I visited on my little coffee tour from MS to LA. This one is bigger than the other roasters I visited, and it's full with customers enjoying their lunch. I got myself a bag of Ethiopian coffee to take back to CT. At home I enjoyed the brew it gave me, glad I visited and got myself 1lb to delight in. The location has a nice outside area, and inside there is plenty of room. It's busy, so have some patience with the workers. read more

Food is ok. Nothing has ever really wowed me except for their fries. Wraps definitely need work. I do like the ambiance of the patio and I think it's a nice location, although kind of hidden from the masses, so you kind of need to know where it's located. This little place is a gem. The service was great, and the food was absolutely delicious. I loved the red vinaigrette on my Grandma's salad, so yummy! I had the Cali panini, and it did not disappoint. We arrived around 11:30, right before the lunch rush, and the timing was perfect. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the neighborhood is quiet and charming. Bonus points because we were visiting someone at the hospital, and this spot wasn't too far from it. Kelsey and Tuesday have been amazing every single time we are there. At this point I think we have become regulars and they make us feel like family at this point. Pretty much keep coming back for them over and over again Only reason 4/5 stars if due to the high chairs available. We have a 10 month old baby and a high chair without working straps is unacceptable. It's so dangerous and just overall a huge hazard. This is just about the food I ordered for Thanksgiving catering, because usually the food at the restaurant is good. I ordered brussels sprouts, a pumpkin caramel pie, and 2 dishes of blackberry cobbler. The amount of sprouts I got for $30 was crazy small. The cobbler was bad, the dough tasted like it was frozen and then cooked again, and the filling was a combination of mostly blackberry pie filling with a few blackberries. Just a goopy flavorless mess. The only good thing was the pumpkin caramel pie, but even that I can't justify for the high price of it (I think it was $35 or $40). I spent about $150 in total for everything. I ordered the thanksgiving catering because I usually really like their food and I wanted to save time, so I was ok with paying more money for good food. The coffee is delicious and they have many options... we just went for a regular black coffee and it was perfect. We ordered the bbq shrimp and grits, they were cheesy and came with pieces of bacon. It was one of the most delicious grits dishes that we've ever had. We also had the firecracker burger with 5-cheese mac and cheese on the side... we said we were not going to eat it all but it was sooooo good that we did. The bread was extremely delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet but we were also the only ones on a Wednesday at 3pm. Something that we noticed is that the place is a bit dusty. I just have to say how rude the cashier ANDREW was to me , he was scratching his head , I asked for extra icing which I was willing to pay for and he said it would have been too much trouble going to the back to get it , does he not know without customers he wouldn't have a nice job I asked for to go silverware and he slid it across to me how rude needless to say I didn't leave him a tip , TIPS mean to insure proper service so I hope that he will have a better attitude! read more

I've enjoyed going to this cafe daily for many years to get my favorite cup of coffee. That has all changed. I went in this past weekend to realize that my cup of coffee went from just about $5 per cup to just about $7 per cup. I can see a pound of coffee increasing by $2, but not one cup. Been here a couple of times and have always had good food and kind servers. Most recently we split the bayou chicken. Decent sized breast with lots of toppings. We got it with the mac & cheese and the onion rings. I'm not a huge fan of onion rings but these were nice and thin with a light breading and I really enjoyed them. While we were there noticed they have a bottomless bloody bar on the weekends and saw a few items on the breakfast menu I definitely want to try out. It didn't start out well, to say the greater was rude was an understatement! No eye contact, no smile, no real greeting other then "are you eating inside or out?" If my wife hadn't just had surgery and made this place her first choice I would have spoken to the manager and left. So next our server Amelia, WOW what a difference! After she met us with a huge genuine smile That made me happy to stay. Important lesson to restaurants, first impressions matter!!! So on to the food and drink, the coffee is just the best in town. The cinnamon toast was amazing! Not too sweet just perfect. I didn't even need syrup. The carrot soufflé was an amazing surprise that I tried for the first time today. It's like a sweet potato pie, just not as sweet. This would have been a 5 star, but I almost walked out the first minute I walked in, so maybe next time. My favorite location is by far the one on 1085. I live closer to the one in downtown covington but honestly im not a fan of the way they make coffee.
