This cozy little gem of A find in Covington Louisiana is located on the corner in downtown Covington surrounded by bookstores, boutiques, and antiques! Restrooms are clean and well stocked. They have an extensive hot and iced coffee list and they even have a specialty coffee of the day which I ordered. It was cracked it to perfection and I decided to sit outside on their covered patio. It was a hot summer day in July and the covered patio did have fans; that is a big place in South Louisiana. I did not order any food, but the salad looked absolutely phenomenal. We went to Coffee Rani on a Friday morning and the line was pretty long, but it moved quickly. Someone came around asking for drink orders in advance so they could start preparing them, which was a smart idea and helped speed things up. We sat outside, which was nice, but the service didn't come around very often. My companions got their meals after waiting a while. I asked the waitress about it and she said she would check, but I ended up going inside myself after waiting longer. One of the staff members was a bit rude, while the other three were very nice, so it felt like it really depended on who you got. The tuna poke salad never arrived. At one point, they said we never placed an order, but they were able to reorder it and get it ready quickly. I ended up not reordering since everything was fine, and my friend shared her Greek chicken salad with me. The food overall was really good-the hummus was delicious. The pistachio cake was amazing . I brought my husband the next day so he could experience the place, and we had a much better experience with the service. This is the cutest little coffee shop / restaurant in Covington, Louisiana. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. There was inside and outside dining, and the space was open and inviting. The staff was friendly and, with a beautiful southern accent, gave helpful suggestions and descriptions of the menu items. They have really generously sized salads (not to mention more salad options than I've ever seen at a place in my life), and a great variety of other options like sandwiches, soups, pasta dishes and breakfast. Service is pretty solid. Sometimes they forget pieces of the order (they forgot to bring out the fruit and sides with my wrap), but it's because they are swamped with customers a lot I think. They're always quick to correct! We tried breakfast for the first time today, and they were kind enough to accommodate my unconventional request for a wrap with poached eggs instead of scrambled. I LOVE this place. I've been to two locations, but my most recent visit was to the one in Covington. There's a good sized parking lot, it's incredibly cute with its white walls, big porch for dining, and the new interior wallpaper that really compliments the atmosphere. There are paper mats on the table they remove between guests, so it feels very nice for a cafe. Especially given that I was there on a Sunday, so everyone's dressed to the nines inside! The true highlight is the food. The coffee is good and there's so many fun drinks I want to try, but the breakfast sandwiches have all been to die for. I brought my dad here once and he said it was the best meal he's ever had in New Orleans. My favorite is the sandwich with fig, apple, Brie, and bacon on a croissant. Oh my. Just do yourself a favor and order it! It's so delicious. Clean plate club every time I get it. And the fruit they serve with it is fresh and yummy, I just wish there were more! Coffee Rainy is listed as dog-friendly, but that description is misleading. Yes, dogs can sit on the patio. However, ordering is only done inside -- and you are not allowed to step inside with your dog, even briefly to place an order. When I attempted to order, I was approached in a confrontational manner and told it was a health code violation. I asked if someone could take my order from the patio so I wouldn't bring my dog inside. The answer was no. I was asked if someone else could hold my dog while I ordered. When I asked what the actual solution was -- since I couldn't order inside and couldn't order outside -- there wasn't one. If you arrive with your dog, there is no way to place an order without breaking their rule. That is not dog-friendly. It's poor planning and even poorer customer service. read more

My most-recent visit was for lunch today, and despite it being quite busy, my mom, one of her best friends, and I did not have any issues with our order, and service was excellent (per usual). I would advise getting here between 11 and 11:30 to beat the lunch crowd. It can get noisy, but it's not unbearable. (Plus, it's a fun spot to meet friends for lunch.) Some of my favorites (before I had to cut gluten for medical reasons) are: crawfish Monica, chicken quesadillas, or the croissant club. Their soups were also my favorite, especially any of their crawfish or crab bisques. I do appreciate them having gluten-free bread and other options for those who are intolerant/celiac. We were told to ask for Lauren and ironically she was the one who greeted us and took our order when we arrived. We ordered the Pest Crusted Chicken Sandwich and the Avocado Ciabatta. Both were incredibly fresh and tasty with the perfect amount of salt and seasoning. Both were delicious, ingredients fresh and flavor was spot on. Even the fruit and salad on the side were so good we devoured them. To go, my husband ordered a cafe viennese and it tasted so much like the one from San Ambreous, a very famous cafe in NYC and the Hamptons. Lauren and the staff are incredible. We've been going to Coffee Rani for so many years (decades) that it's easy to take for granted that we'll find great service and great food in a delightful atmosphere. But lunch yesterday really stood out. I had lunch with six friends at peak rush hour. The line was to the door when we arrived. We marveled at how efficiently ordering went. Wish I'd gotten everyone's name but Addison took our order and Carter served our food. Both were very young but completely efficient, pleasant and professional. Anybody(at any age) would have been flustered waiting on so many people but they were pleasant and delightful. It goes without saying that our salads were excellent. My recent favorite on the food side is the Chicken Robert with its generous portions of lemon buttery chicken and the frittata side, it's a great low carb option that has no shortage of flavor. Salads (Greek and chicken Caesar) were somewhat pedestrian and a little over priced. Perhaps other choices would have been better. Ordering is at counter and both inside and patio seating is available. Busy corner auto traffic make the patio option, which we did, noisy and a little less appealing. Really glad I found this place. Overnighted in Covington driving to Georgia. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on croissant, americano, and cranberry muffin. All were perfect. First timer so it's worth talking about their process. You order at the counter first then either wait at the pick up counter or take a number and have a seat wherever you want. They will bring to your table. Menus are located on a wall close to where you place order. You will prepay. Paying with credit card will prompt you for tip. I prefer to leave cash at the table but all I had were $20s. So, I tipped up front. They do have drip coffee but I opted for an americano. It was just about perfect. I can say the same for the sandwich. It did come out just after the espresso and really hot. Too hot to comfortably eat. Everything was amazing from the eggs to the crisped bacon to the perfectly toasted croissant. I thought I would still be hungry with just the sandwich so I also ordered the muffin. They have a standard selection. The cranberry muffin has walnuts if that's important. The portion was larger than expected. It didn't look exceptionally large but it was denser than usual. It was also about perfect. I'm a bigger dude and I probably wouldn't try to eat both again. They have a good amount of outside seating. There is a decent amount of parking behind the building but it's shared with other businesses. It's worth noting that it's exceptionally clean. I used the men's room and it was also very clean. This place is just a block away from where I am living so I decided to eat here for dinner after my class. Plus, they had vegetarian options. Bonus! I has the mushroom sandwich which was really good and the veggie quesadilla which was ok, won't be ordering it again. The vegetable chunks were too big and they were just falling off the tortilla as there was no cheese to bind them together, and it was dry so didn't enjoy eating it. The Sandwich was super yummy though so will surely be going back for the sandwich and their chai latte! Overall a really cool place to just sit and relax over a cup of coffee/tea and some healthy meal options. Unfortunately the weather was super cold so I couldn't sit out.
