I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict, Cheese Grits, and a cappuccino. - Cheese Grits were great! - The Eggs Benedict, not so great, Eggs whites were only half cooked and half still clear. - Cappuccino was not hot. I notified the GM and waitress and they apologized but did not offer to correct but did not offer to fix. Being hungry and in hurry for an appointment I had eaten over half so that may have been why they didn't offer. I can eat raw eggs. However I do prefer the whites fully cooked! My first introduction to Toasted Yolk was in Biloxi and it was amazing. However, the Covington location was such a disappointment. Our server was great but the food was opposite of that. The grits weren't good and the serving size was 1/3 of what we had in Biloxi. The pancake was on a narrow plate and so much was hanging off. I'm 100% certain that the server touched it while bringing it to the table. My entree, the Brisket Scramble, both looked and tasted terrible. It came with the tiniest piece of hash brown casserole. We found ourselves in Covington after church, looking for a place to get a bite to eat and we came across Toasted Yolk which recently opened in Covington. This is a breakfast and lunch spot with a varied breakfast menu. Everything looked wonderful and I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the breakfast menu. I wasn't starving to death so after perusing the menu, we decided to split the pork chop breakfast. This breakfast comes with two bone in grilled pork chops, two eggs cook to order, a buttermilk biscuit and a choice of grits or a hash brown casserole. I was in the mood for grits so we ordered an extra side of grits and we split the pork chops. My favorite thing on the plate was the biscuit. It was light and fluffy and baked to perfection. The grits were creamy and not lumpy at all. The pork chops were very thin, but they were tender, but I don't think I would order that again. They were a little bland and next time I will definitely try the hash brown casserole with another breakfast menu item. Overall, we really enjoyed our breakfast and it was definitely enough for two people with the extra side of grits. read more

We arrived before 8AM on a hot and humid ( is there any other kind in August here?) Friday morning. They were not very busy. The wait staff service started out strong and then fizzled. We were quickly seated and presented with menu. Our server was pleasant and answered all our menu questions. Like: Yes you can make some alterations to the menu like if you get the Traditional Arnold a.k.a. Eggs Benedict you can get it with a different meat than Canadian Bacon. Yes, all omelets are made with 4 eggs but No you can't get a smaller one or half an omelet. No, you can't get a single donut or do a half order of blueberry and half Churro donuts. Yes,they offer hot tea for those that prefer tea over coffee for the breakfast or lunch menu and will bring a wooden box of tea bag selections over for you to look at. We got 2 items from the breakfast menu the Traditional Arnold with crumbled Sausage and the Breakfast Quesadilla. The Breakfast Quesadilla was exactly as described on the menu and very tasty. The Traditional Arnold was good, but the eggs were overcooked. You get 2 eggs each egg is on its own bread then the meat and then the sauce which covers the egg. On our order of Traditional Arnold One egg was basically the consistency of a hard boiled egg on a soggy English muffin and the other egg was a jammy, Medium cooked egg instead of the liquid to slightly runny center that's expected in an Eggs Benedict. The crumbled sausage had a good flavor. The star on the plate was the additional item that was ordered. That's right the fruit cup . It was outstanding. Every piece of fruit was perfect. That's very hard for most places to do. There's usually at least one piece of under ripe melon and another piece of fruit that's dangerously over ripe. Not today. Not at the Toasted Yolk Cafe. The fruit cup was perfect. The pot of hot water for the Tea as well as the water in the mug was the correct temperature for steeping tea. The coffee was also very good . It was breakfast in a chain restaurant that's geared for the weary travelers that want something better than a drive through and more efficient and with different options than a waffle house or Ihop. The only complaints were the cook on the main ingredients. The poached eggs. The poached eggs were overcooked. One of the Tradtional Arnold's even had a piece of egg shell in the sauce. Which brings me to the sad hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs, Traditional Arnold , didn't have any lemony undertones or seasoning of any kind. So disappointing. The waitstaff didn't offer to redo them, which was just as well , as nobody wanted to wait for 1 order to be redone and hit the table as everyone else got their bill. Our server also didn't offer anything but " I'll be sure to tell the cook". Somehow even with incorrectly cooked eggs and hollandaise sauce, it was still a very pleasant meal and sure beat the pants off any other breakfast places around the Courtyard Marriott hotel. read more

I support local entrepreneurs and a fan of this restaurant but this past Sunday breakfast left a lot to be desired. The service is good, atmosphere is clean vibrant and quite pleasant. However, anyone who eats breakfast knows Eggs Benedict is any form or fashion requires a soft boiled egg , i.e. to some extent runny. Mine was simply 2 hard boiled eggs atop a mound of sausage without any accompanying sauce, peppers, or menu description. Something happened in the kitchen I guess. A momentary laspe?
