We have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this place once the sign went up a few months ago. Always wanted a good South American restaurant option on the Northshore and this place did not disappoint. I have been three times in 2 weeks. The food is all handmade in house. Whether it's the corn flatbread for the arepas, the tostones,,, I could even tell without having to ask that the corn tortillas are hand pressed right there, which elevates a taco to a whole new level. The Jibarito is a very fun experience, just treat it like a sandwich and go to town. They make a delicious green sauce that goes on everything. The flan is the best I've ever tasted, and paired with a Cuban espresso you will think you're in Miami. PS: they are not currently doing dinner although I hope that eventually changes. read more

Everything was exquisite! My friends and I had the Jibarito. A sandwich with two huge fried plantains instead of bread! The sandwich itself was delicious with beef or chicken and a yummy sauce. The three of us devoured our tostones sandwiches as if we had never eaten anything better. I had a cortado, better than the ones I had in Miami, plus it was in a large cup. I may not sleep tonight! Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. The prices are very reasonable! I definitely recommend this restaurant. We are very lucky to have so many great restaurants in Old Mandeville and now we have another one- Cafetomas! It's a new Latin place where Hambone used to be. Today we tried the breakfast and everything was fantastic! We had the breakfast arepa with shredded beef and the chilaquiles with shredded chicken. Just ask about breakfast options because it wasn't on the regular menu. They have Cuban coffee and smoothies too. It's not a big menu but I am ok with a small menu that is done really well. They even gave our dog a pup cup! We also love the tacos! Absolutely delicious. Go check them out. read more

I was staying at Fontainebleau state Park down the road. I rode my bike on the Tammany Trace from the state park. The deli I intended to visit closed early so I stopped in here.
