Hands down my favorite lunch in all of Louisiana. When I lived on the north shore, I use to get lunch from this gem at least once a week. I moved out of state about a year ago and I have to admit this lunch counter might just be what I miss most. Back when I lived in Louisiana I use to always order the turkey salad sandwich. I would like to URGE you all to order the sandwich with both avocado and cheese! If they ask if you would like it seasoned with spike ALWAYS say YES! Sadly, is when I moved I gave up meat. So I won't be indulging in a turkey salad sandwich any longer. BUT HAVE WORRIES fellow VEGG HEADS! There is a "SUPER salad" that is literally heaven on earth. It is a giant salad overflowing with raw veggies. It's served with shredded white cheese and mashed avocado. I'll try to help you understand JUST how good this salad is. I jusy visited home for the first time in a year and In the 9 days I was back home- I ordered from Another beautiful day about 6 times. I keep it in the fridge at all times for munching, meals, and night caps. What? It's raw! It's allowed, y'all! My favorite way to eat the super salad is with half and half dressing. Mix the balsamic dressing with the creamy Italian dressing. (You can thank me later) The Super Salad is huge, incredibly satisfying, and unlike anything you've ever ordered for lunch. If you're with a friend at the lunch counter ordering a turkey salad sandwich or just a scoop- go ahead and split a super salad with your friend. You won't regret it! Lastly I'd like to touch on the super salad sandwich. It's equally as fantastic. Again- Make sure to get it with avocado and cheese. I always order mine with the chips they offer. Once you have one of these massive sandwiches you will be sure to crave it from that point on. I promise. So next time you're in Mandeville looking for lunch, do yourself and your friends the favor and go eat some yummy wholesome goodness. Nightmare experience. Been coming here for 35 years. Never again. Called in order and was told 20 to 25 minutes. Arrived 25 minutes later. Not even started on my order. Sandwich maker was cutting avocados and smashing them. No cheese melting on toast. Older lady doing dishes and then goes straight to deboning a store bought rotisserie chicken to make turkey salad. Yes, you read that right. After making fake turkey salad she then says we need to grate some cheese. She grabs the clean food processor container along with the dirty lid, blade, and plunger ti gray some cheese. Meanwhile, the sandwich maker girl is answering the phone and ringing up orders with her plastic gloves on and then starts grabbing the cheese and making sandwiches with the same gloves on. At one point a customer comes to the counter with a half dozen dirty dishes but there is no place to put them due to the counter being full of junk. So sandwich maker takes this load of dirty dishes to the sink and then back to sandwich making. You guessed it, same gloves... disgusting!!!!! read more

Another Beautiful Day is a health food store that sells everything from vitamin supplements to organic apple cider vinegar. They also have a small lunch counter where they serve, among other things, some of the best vegetarian sandwiches I've ever had. The Super Sandwich: carrots, sprouts, avocado, cheese (provalone maybe?) on multigrain bread. Sounds gross, but I think the secret is in the seasoning they sprinkle in there - gives it a little salty, spicey thing. I'm not even vegetarian, but I have one every time I'm in Mandeville. I seriously tell people all the time that if I lived there I'd go to lunch at ABD every day. They also do this mushroom burger that is equally great if you can't handle sprouts and carrots all the time. These are the only things I've had there, but they do many more sandwiches and maybe even soups, too. Don't stay away because this is allegedly heath food. Just got lunch for the office and they told me about the Super Salad. I got a large, and for under $10, it is big enough for two meals and came with a whole cup of their delicious dressing! It's kindof like a chopped salad, with alfalfa sprouts, avocado, cheese, broccoli, cauliflower, shredded cabbages and carrots... And it's massive! OMG. Finding this place was a nightmare. We called 3 times and got the most ridiculously "directions" from the lady behind the counter. She was more concerned about reading the newspaper than helping run the business. This place is tucked in the back of strip mall, hard to find. You'd think she'd KNOW this and be better with directions. Small, hole in the wall health food store with a 6 seat counter. Sandwiches were great, unfriendly service all the way around. My favorite is the Super Sandwich. The turkey salad (as a salad or a sandwich) is very popular and good but doesn't touch the super sandwich. The mushroom burger is good but be prepared to eat it with a fork & knife because it is loaded with boiled mushrooms they cook & strain out of the water (?) to order so the bun gets soaked & sloppy. If you are in a hurry or lack patience, call in the order ahead & maybe take it to go. They only have a lunch counter with 6ish stools. I also recommend the red zinger iced tea (sweetened with honey for me). While you wait, pick up some spike seasoning. It is one of the seasonings they use on the sandwiches and works great on everything you cook at home. I do question their chip choice as it appears to be big bags of corn chips like you would get with nachos at a ball park. I am sure they are a healthier version but I always pass.
