Came on a Saturday early in the afternoon, like 3. The server was honest that he was new, but they absolutely couldn't handle the business. We couldn't order drinks bc they came to our table so infrequent. Server took orders from a large table that sat after us, while we wished ours be taken. The orange sauce on the nachos is extremely overwhelming and you cannot get away from it, it's everywhere on the dish. It felt like I was trapped in this place for hours everything was SO slow unfortunately. To top it off the bathroom was absolutely disgusting, so dirty... the 3/5 stars is generous. read more

I went into this location and ordered lunch to go. Carnitas Shimmy-Chinga, with beans. My server was good, however that's where the "good" ended. I opened my food to eat and it was inedible. The Carnitas were dark large chunks of gristle and hard meat. It was terrible and almost impossible to pry apart. Literally couldn't eat it and after looking at it, wouldn't want to, even if it had been possible. The beans were ice cold. I mean as if they had been taken directly out of the refrigerator and put into a container. Cold through and through. It was absolutely unacceptable. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. He answered and before I could politely tell him about my order, he very rudely stated that he'd give me a new order or refund if I brought all of the food back to "prove" what I'd stated. I was quite insulted. Once he'd finished, I informed him that I had not called for either of those things. Didn't want a refund or new order. That I'd simply called to let him know what I'd received from his kitchen. He attempted to correct himself and his tone to thank me. But the damage was done. I had not wanted anything in return for my call, just thought that he should know so that he could correct future orders. But to tell a customer that they need to "prove" something that they report to management was the most inappropriate and unacceptable way to treat any customer. And for that, I won't ever be returning. There are several Mexican restaurants within a few miles of this one, so I will choose one of those in the future. read more

really don't complain much but I have to leave this review because our experience was THAT bad. Let me preface this with we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. They had about 6 servers sitting around a table talking when I walked to the bar to ask where our drinks were. Our first issue was it took 20 minutes to receive drinks)no alcohol, just waters and tea). We waited a long time for our meals and the waiter came out to tell us that they messed up my order and had to fix it but it would not take long. We said ok and we understood. My food came out about 3 minutes after that and it was in fact wrong. They had not fixed anything. We let the waiter know this and he brought over someone else who I really hope isn't a manager. Because if so, that was a joke. She offered to remake the food and I said fine but I needed it to go because we had something else to be at and at that point we had been there for about 45 minutes. She claimed that the cooks didn't understand special orders a lot of times. My order was not a special order at all. I was offered the choice of "mexican or American" style tacos. That's not a special order when you get them mixed up. The other girls food was ice cold. She asked for a refund at that point. Our waiter never returned to offer refills, check on us, nothing. All of the tickets were mixed up. Nothing was comped. No attempt to make this disaster of an experience right. I will never return and am extremely disappointed in how we were treated. I won't even begin about the food because it was awful. 10/10 do not recommend read more

Could give 0 stars if I could. Our server kodi was absolutely awful. The service was horrible. The food was awful. I ordered the 3 enchiladas and asked for CHEESE ONLY, they came out with red and green sauce. I asked for them to re make it and she came back and told me they couldn't re make it because the kitchen didn't speak English and that if I wanted to fix it, I had to RE ORDER IT. The server had an attitude the whole time we were there. Very rude and unprofessional. Never apologized for it being wrong or anything. I work for a Mexican restaurant and I find it VERY UPSETTING that they couldn't find a resolution or comp it; didn't get a manager or anything. Definitely will not be back here. They need to re evaluate their "rules and procedures". read more

This place is wonderful! The atmosphere is spectacular, especially in the new area they've added. They also have outdoor seating if the indoor space gets too loud, which it often does when there's a live band. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding, and the drinks were to die for. I will definitely be returning! I rate this place three and a half out of four stars. Parking was very convenient. The only reason I didn't give it four out of four stars is that they forgot to include one of the side items in my order, so just make sure to check your order before you leave. We went Saturday, which was Day 2 after their opening and we were pleasantly surprised. We will be going back. My only complaint is that chips and salsa are not complimentary. We went for lunch on Wednesday, with 1/2 price on your first appetizer. We got the ceviche--Oh. My. Goodness. So good!!! There's so many interesting margaritas, and although we pretty much stick to classic, I tried the Tropic Like it's Hot with pineapple & jalapeños. Soo good!!! We ordered from the lunch menu, hubs got traditional tacos with rice & beans, I had fish tacos with guac salad & charro beans. Sooo freakin' goood!!! This place was very popular after the local graduation. The decor was fun and the workers were very attentive. We sat at the bar and was immediately acknowledged. The bartender was knowledgeable of the entrees and assisted with my selection by knowing explicitly what was allowed for substitution. The entree was very filling and the drinks were 7/10. I didn't get one of the signature drinks but I definitely enjoyed the large television to watch the game and highlights. My only issue is that one of the girls on work staff shorts were entirely too short. As a customer, I wouldn't have wanted her cheeks in my face while serving a neighboring table. read more

Had the pleasure of visiting this place while in the area doing some Xmas shopping. There was no wait upon entry and the hostess seated us immediately. Loved the ambiance of the place but our server took a bit of time to get to us and drinks were delayed. I had received my alcoholic beverages way after my appetizer and entree arrived. Every since I'd heard of this spot I wanted to try it. When pretty drinks are involved you can count me in! I pass her all the time and never noticed it once...meaning it you blink you miss it. But try to keep your eyes open because you'll be in for a treat. There's street parking in this small town so I imagine it shouldn't too bad to find a parking spot. I didn't have a wait either. Just came right in and they were all smiles and eager to serve. It's a small restaurant with cute picture worthy decor. Our waitress has great suggestions as I had no clue what to order. We wanted the margarita tree but was advise that it was no longer an option as ppl like to steal the Patron bottles...tragic. I got 3 different drinks...all were fabulous from presentation to taste and had me just where I needed to be. The names of all the menu items are super cute and descriptions were funny! I ordered the "shimmy" changa. It's smaller than Im used to and missing the veggies and filling but the plate was full and really good still. When I got my check I was actually surprised at how reasonably priced everything was. I will definitely be making my way back to this little spot. Oh. Cute little edition to downtown Ponchatoula! The vibe of the place is super cute. Pretty spacious for how small I thought it was. The menu is very creative and funny. Nice choices, the food came out fast with good portions and everything was pretty tasty. The service was great, our poor waiter had to deal with my crazy kids. We got the queso, the salsa, the cerviche and a burrito bowl and a taco plate. The steak, ground beef, tings tacos were all very tasty. The shrimp ones were my favorite! They were out of the cheek, that's the one I really wanted to try. The cerviche was probably the only thing that was ehhhh.... Taste was ok, but there was hardly any shrimp/fish; the pieces that were there were very small. All in all the food was good!
