I vowed to never return here after multiple mediocre experiences. Well...I'm back. I must say I had a much better experience. This trip the place was slow and we were seated quickly in the front. The younger waitress did an okay job. She was very friendly and the food was acceptable. I asked what she recommended and she said the Mexican Breakfast I believe is what it was called. It wasn't a fancy Tex Mex type of a meal, nothing with beaucoup seasoning flair etc but I appreciated the simple authenticity of the meal. It was simple and really hit the spot. Also it was something I never would have ordered if she hadn't recommended it. I would have to agree as another reviewer mentioned, they could REALLY work on making things HOT rather than warm. Especially the coffee. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a mom and pop breakfast place with a reserved booth for staff where they hang out in the corner. I'm not sure if the overall service here improved or not yet tbh but the younger waitress did a much better job than my previous trips and I think they might have read some of the past reviews. I would like to leave 3.5 stars but that's not and option. To be fair I believe the young lady earned them more than 3 stars but I can't give this 4 stars so 3 it is. read more

Customer service was terrible!!! There were 4 in our party, first of all they brought out our entrees, and everyone's potatoes were mushy and cold. I asked if we could have some fresh and the waitress went into the kitchen and came back to say, "no, we don't have fresh ones." Then, two people of our party had bacon with their meals, and they brought out 5 pieces of bacon on the same plate for them to share...I found this to be very odd, and especially an odd number of pieces. Also, two of us wanted a mimosa and they were out of OJ, we asked for cranberry instead, but asked for just a splash of cranberry--it was quite the opposite, hardly any champagne. Amazing!! We were driving through on our way to Texas and needed some breakfast. It was busy at 9:00 on a Sunday morning. Dining room was bustling and full of families and friends. Staff was welcoming, helpful in suggestions and confirmed their Louisiana grits were gluten free. And let me tell you... those Louisiana grits with bacon and shrimp and cheese were absolutely delicious! Definitely will stop here again! We both ordered the seafood omelet with potatoes. To say the omelette was bland is an understatement. We tried adding some salt and pepper, but it couldn't fix the issue. The food wasn't the worst, but the drinks were horrible. The server said the orange juice was freshly squeezed but really from concentrate. My wife didn't like it and she refused to remove from the bill. Also I am fluent in Spanish and the server bad mouthed me to all the employees loudly thinking I couldn't understand. Not bad of a wait, we were seated, and my party of five had to wait just a little bit to get waited on, but judging from the crowd, it was no problem. Coffee is good and hot. The food was absolutely seasoned to perfection. One of the reasons we love coming to Louisiana is because they know how to season food and this place did not disappoint. Stopped in on a recent Sunday, there were a few cars in the side parking lot and a few cars street side, the parking lot is very narrow so I chose the street side parking. As I walked into the restaurant I noticed we were the only real customers, it seemed, the back booth on the left side of the restaurant near the door to the kitchen seemed to be dedicated to the employees or family for hanging out. The service was friendly but extremely stand-offish, uninterested, and inattentive almost to the point that I just wanted to turn around and walk out like it never even happened. The restaurant seemed clean so we placed our breakfast order, I ordered coffee it was good and hot but little did I know it wasn't going to be an endless cup, I did manage to get it topped off once after I asked - the food well it was nothing memorable, we both agreed the food was flavorless and all of it had a similar aftertaste, my first thought when trying to identify it was pig lard although it has been decades since I experienced that rancid taste it was the only conclusion we could arrive at. I want to be good. I love to visit smaller places that are local. This had high hopes for breakfast before headed home. Over easy eggs were good as well as sausage and orange juice. Pancakes for me and my wife were both WELL done esp on one side so we had the tops a bit. Hash browns were just burnt. (They did remove that from the bill). Service was a bit off especially with only a few in the place. Seemed the family that ran it was more focused on family time near the kitchen. It was almost as if it had been microwaved. Also the coffee is practically water. We've driven from Texas to Florida and back again within this week. Came here today Pros - Food came out quick Cons drink machine needs to be cleaned lemonade didn't taste like lemonade nor did sprite. Asked for bottle water but had none Server never came to check on us to see if we were fine even though she walked right by table. Pancakes, hashbrowns, and French toast all made on the same platform without cleaning. Had pancakes and I could taste the French toast on them. Hashbrowns had a piece of pancake in them I'm guessing from cooking. Cooks don't wear gloves or have a sanitization area near them to wash hands. read more

Waited to be seated because the 2 ladies at the counter didn't acknowledge us, till they paid attention. Then they sat us at a table with dirty dishes, picked up the dishes never wiped the table . Waited to be acknowledged by server. I WAS READY TO WALK OUT BY NOW, my husband said let's give them a few more minutes . Once they took are order, food was brought out in a timely manner, it was not even warm, the hash browns were actually partially cold. Our server brought out our food while on her phone, never said a word to us .Never had anyone come to our table to see if we needed anything ( which we did ). Our server passed us several times , still on her phone . Workers going in and out kitchen so it's not like no one noticed us . Food was under average . Omelet was more like a scrabble egg pancake. Bacon was in crumbles, potatoes looked old and were cold ( Probably pre-made) . I had spinach & mushrooms with my breakfast , literally 3 small leaves and 1 sliced mushroom.
