Verified kitchen was still open (since there was only 2 tables eating and 1 looked finished on a Saturday night) after we were seated I needed you restroom. 1 said out of order, no biggie.... second 1 I stood outside and could hear what sounded like a video game playing, 15 minutes later and employee came out. No flush, no sink noise (maybe hid there for break time) our waitress was rude during ordering. Food was not very tasty. Our party of 3 felt underwhelmed, especially for the price. We live in Mandeville and our friends in Covington...said they always skip this place, I now know why. Dropped in with my wife for a Friday lunch and enjoyed our first experience at Lola, which is situated adjacent to the justice center, trailhead, and downtown areas in Covington. Lola features a neat and attractive small dining room, with space also in a vintage railway car. An outside deck is also available. Decor is tasteful and understated, and counter service is friendly and efficient. The lunch menu sports a number of specialty artisanal sandwiches and salads, and we had Cuban and Muffuletta sandwiches sided by the signature Lola salad. Sandwiches were very good and featured a ciabatta bread that was especially tasty. The Lola salads were also quite good and boasted an excellent house dressing with cranberries. We didn't try desserts or cocktails, but several quite appealing ones were available. Reservations are required for evenings (Friday and Saturday) and we will look forward to trying the dinner menu in the future. Recommended! read more

We made reservations and they actually had a specific table waiting for us. Our server came right away with water and took our cocktail order. I had the Ginger Snap which tasted like gin infused ginger ale. My wife had their Cosmo - both were delicious. For the appetizer, we had the Deviled eggs that come with fried oysters on them. One of the best things I've eaten in a long time. For entrees I had the Crawfish Risotto and my wife had the Ahi Poke Bowl. Both were wonderful. We had wine by the glass with dinner. The wine list isn't long but it had something for everyone. Lola is a quirky place with half the seating in an old railroad car-we were in the main dining room. It's a little noisy but still intimate and they don't jam the tables together to fit more guests in. They only serve dinner Friday and Saturday. Our waiter was Zach and we sat in the train car. The setting was as beautiful as they come. Zach was super attentive, even with the heavy load of patrons. I had pan seared duck over a bed of root vegetables Steen's au jus. Arguably the best duck I've ever eaten. There was ample seating as there is a main building and some train cars they converted as well as patio seating. We ordered from the counter and they brought the food to our table quickly after. My colleague and I stopped by this place for a quick work lunch. The atmosphere was definitely amazing. Since we were not there during the typical lunchtime, we didn't wait so long (only three or four people were ahead of us). I had the "COBB"-OOSE salad (no bacon). It was quick and delicious! Can't say enough about this place. So much food, my husband and I split this delicious sandwich. Counter service ordering. The food is so good. Corn and crab bisque was AMAZING! I LOVE LOLA. I visited Lola on a pretty regular basis for over three years while working in downtown Covington....and by regular basis I mean...almost once a week for 3 years. So, I feel its probably time I finally weighed. I 100% recommend Lola 100% of the time someone asks me where they should get lunch in downtown Covington. My meal suggestion --- Try the soups. Trust me. They are delicious. Especially the gumbo. I know - its sacrilege to love anyone's gumbo but your mothers - but this is really good gumbo. Every single soup I've had at Lola has been DELICIOUS. Even those soups that you look at and think, "I am not sure I'm going to like this but I'm really feeling soup today," are THE BOMB. And even those days where you're thinking "who on earth would eat soup in this weather" you'll be glad you tried the soup. So, just trust me and try the damn soup. Also highly recommend the Chicken Salad and Tuna Salad ON ANYTHING. Get it in a sandwhich, on top of a salad, or just get a scoop and eat it with a spoon. I WISH I KNEW THAT DAMN TUNA SALAD RECIPE. Would pay $$$ for the tuna fish salad recipe. If you know someone, hook me up. The chinese chopped salad is also highly recommended, but comes in third on my order of Lola "favorites." The red beans are also pretty amazing. But you know, only available on Monday and I can't just be restricted to having Lola for lunch on Mondays.... BUT ITS REALLY ALL ABOUT THE FOCACCIA BREAD...dusted with just the right amount of salt. Chewy. Deliciousness. This is starting to get out of hand for a restaurant review. But....
