We stopped in for Sunday brunch on my daughters birthday and had another fantastic meal. I ordered the Louisiana Crabmeat Sardou, and it was outstanding. Think eggs Benedict with a Louisiana crabmeat twist. It starts with a buttery homemade biscuit topped with a whole artichoke heart, creamed spinach, a perfectly poached egg, hollandaise, and caviar. It's served with a generous portion of lump crabmeat and a side of potatoes. With so many rich components, I expected it to be heavy, but everything was surprisingly balanced. Every bite worked together, and it was an incredibly delicious dish. My wife ordered the French Dip, which was the brunch special, and she absolutely raved about it. The shaved ribeye was incredibly tender, the Gruyère added just the right richness, and the au jus was packed with flavor. My daughter, who considers herself a burger connoisseur, insists their Brunch Burger is the best burger she's ever had. She ordered it again today, and it only reinforced that opinion. I also tried the Golden Hour cocktail, and it may have become my new favorite. I highly recommend giving it a try. From the food to the service, everything was exceptional. We really enjoyed Tchefuncte's! They have their own parking lot, so it made it very easy to get in and out. You just park, the go inside, and the restaurant is on the 2nd floor. The service was phenomenal! It was for an anniversary, and they made sure to tell us happy anniversary, and add it to a little sign that was left on our table. Now for the main part: the food. Fried Oysters and Pork Belly - very good, if you get this make sure you eat them together (that was our "best bite" for that serving). Wedge Salad - one of the best wedge salad's we have had. The blue cheese dressing was creamy (rather than chunky blue cheese). It had crispy shoestring onion strings that almost acted as the croutons. I loved every bite that included lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and bacon. Delmonico Steak - this was probably our overall favorite item. Just a great steak, and large enough for both of us to enjoy. Redfish - this was good, not great. Would probably try something else other than this if we went back. Tchefuncte Potatoes - they almost were like a twice baked potato (flavor wise), but they are super creamy and fluffy and then turned into a lightly fried ball. Good and very unique. Crème Brûlée - if you like crème brûlée then you will enjoy it here. A classic dessert that was delicious. And to top it all off, the ambiance was great. Went to a luncheon for 60 dollars n had lukewarm bisque and lukewarm redfish with maybe 3 bites of veggies. The whole meal was disappointing. I could not believe the water had other tables to wait on as well! we were celebrating a special occasion and had been to this restaurant a couple of years ago so decided to come back. the restaurant is beautiful both inside and out. it has a nice ambiance and beautiful vistas of the river. for starters we got the burrata and complimentary parker rolls were also provided. we also received ceviche compliments of the chef. the parker rolls were good, a bit sweet but nice. the burrata was good with nice flavor. we also got the gumbo, the french onion soup and chopped salad. the gumbo was good with good flavor and good chunks of seafood; it did come with potato salad instead of rice which was odd. the chopped salad was not good but the french onion soup was plentiful and very good. for the mains we got lasagna, the lent special redfish, carrots, creamed spinach, and another fish dish. the lasagna was good, the fish dish also good and the creamed spinach was good. the carrots were cooked well but bland and the lent special redfish also lacked flavor. for dessert we got the coffee and chicory creme brûlée which came with beignets on top. we asked for the beignets on the side and the dessert tasted better if you put the crème brûlée as a dip for beignets. overall, beautiful location and decent food. the service seemed a bit rushed as they were waiting for you to finish the first course to bring out the second and sometimes would hover when you are still eating. some dishes were a bit bland but others fantastic read more

I had a business dinner last Wednesday night. Everything was delicious. We shared the carpaccio and the pork belly, both came with fried oysters. I had the red snapper and had a few bites of the ribeye that someone else order. Both were outstanding. The ribeye was perfect!! Where do I begin! We didn't expect the level of service we received! You walk in and go up the elevator to this beautiful restaurant. We were sat right away. Our servers were great. Very knowledgeable about the menu: wines, apps, entrees, all of it. We were brought out something by the chef, a delicious soup I hope becomes a part of the menu! Everything was delicious. It was not what we were expecting at all! At first I felt underdressed (seeing the staff in full dress, vest and tie included) and then I felt overdressed (seeing a man in a tshirt and jeans). Was such an amazing experience the staff was wonderful and the windows allowed for a great view of the water and just the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect. The food was amazing the jumbo lump crab cake is a must it was the best crab cake I have ever had I promise you will not regret getting it! Oyster were really great as well. Next we split Caesar Salad it was good a little heavy on the anchovies in my opinion still ate and enjoyed it. For our entrees I got the 6oz filet with the froi gras truffle butter and enjoyed every bite, my boyfriend had the ribeye with the bone marrow butter. We also got the other three sauces and the hollandaise was amazing. We got a couple sides... the tchefunctes potatoes, roasted cauliflower and caramelized onions and mushrooms. All of which were good. Probably won't recommend the cauliflower though not a fan had a weird sauce/texture and I love cauliflower however something was off. Overall everything was delicious and the staff and ambiance of the restaurant was amazing we will definitely be back! Oh I almost forgot YOU HAVE TO GET THE WARM STICKY PRALINE CAKE!!! We had brunch here on Sunday for my son's birthday. We'd not eaten here before so we were a bit apprehensive about a new place for a celebration but the menu on line enticed us. I'm original from New Orleans so to say that I'm a tough critic on food is an understatement. There are so many good restaurants in and around N.O. that you can afford to be very discriminating. Simply put-this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in a very long time! Ours was a table of six and then entire meal was a constant "Taste mine " or "Wait you have to taste mine!" Every person was thrilled with their choice. I'm very picky about fish as I'm always concerned that it will be "fishy" or strong tasting. I ordered their redfish filet with caper brown butter and crabmeat on top. This is a strong statement but I have to stay that this was easily the BEST FISH DISH I HAVE EVER EATEN! Their prices are a bit on the expensive side but for the ambience (right on the river), the service and the quality of everything we ordered it was well worth every penny. We visited Tchefuncte's last weekend with another couple and were thoroughly impressed! Coming from New Orleans and the city's multitude of fine dining establishments, we were not sure what Tchefuncte's would be like, but it exceeded all of our expectations. The ambiance along the river is great (particularly as the river was beautifully lit for the holidays), and the bar set up is really wonderful. The bartender made a terrific martini with a touch of salinity and orange bitters that was delicious. At our table, we had the stone crab claws which were amazing (and huge!). The filet, with sides of creamed spinach and truffle fries, was perfectly cooked, and the gulf fish were excellent. The chocolate soufflé is not to be missed for dessert. And the quality of the wine list at Tchefuncte's is impressive. The Somm at the restaurant really knew his stuff about the wine and served a perfect French white to start the meal and a great Italian red with the entrees. On top of the fantastic food and atmosphere, the staff was extremely professional. All four dishes hit the table simultaneously for our entrees and our waitress was very helpful with all menu questions. Would definitely recommend for folks on the north and south shores to make the visit. read more

My beloved wife passed away in January. I hadn't visited any of the restaurants we loved and finally decided to have a "date night" with her at Tchefuncte. I guess I said enough that they knew what was going on, especially when I showed up with her picture to put on the table across from me. The servers, the hostess and the general manager were all very attentive (though I think all customers get this level of attention). I started off with Champagne which they brought to the table in honor of the occasion. I had come in with my eye on the Covey Rise beet salad and the Seafood Risotto. Both were superb and were accompanied by a very good red wine blend. I have to say that while this restaurant was always a favorite because of the ambitious menu and the fresh and locally sourced ingredients, the execution in the past was sometimes short of the mark - not bad, just not quite there. Under the new ownership and the 2 dishes I had (plus the taste of the gnocchi I was given and which was excellent), I saw no trace of that. The conception and execution were extraordinary. Finally, to cap the evening, the GM came to my table and told me they had taken care of my tab. I was dumbfounded. The whole evening was a beautiful memorial and tribute to my wife and it made me smile in my heart, which is rare these days. This restaurant is a class act all the way around. What a great restaurant. Dinner last night. Moved back to the area last year after being away for 6 years. This was our first visit to the renovated Friends. The food was off the charts. We had onion soup, steaks, lasagna bolognese, creamed spinach, and BBQ shrimp. All were some of the best I have had. Service was good, very knowledgeable waiter but it was a little slow for us. The price was definitely on the high side but if the food is worth it I don't mine paying top dollar. Since opening, I've dined here twice, both on occasions when I've been in town visiting family. On my first visit, my husband and I split the crab cakes as our appetizer, and I had the scallops. He had one of the fish dishes. We had a beautiful view of the river at night. We've since raved about our experience to my parents who are locals. Our second visit was this past Sunday. We came for brunch (not knowing that was all they served). I have a gluten allergy, but the waiter assured me the shrimp and grits had a GF sauce (he verified with the executive chef). My husband and I split the praline bacon as an appetizer. It's life changing. My parents shared the biscuits and gravy and said it was incredible. All of their food is locally sourced, and they serve Abita Roasting coffee. Their creamer is made from local goat milk. My parents have talked a few times about how much they enjoyed their meal Sunday. We will absolutely be back! I should note that if you're in a time crunch, you might want to dine elsewhere.
