Our visit to LUMORA was such a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful, very aesthetically pleasing, and has a really nice atmosphere. We started with the chicken wings with honey barbecue sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly and had a good flavor. Next were the bacon wrapped shrimp and these were one of my favorite items of the night. The hot honey sauce was so good and the presentation made them even better. The cheese pull and sauce dripping down really sealed the deal for me. Easily a 10/10. The brussels sprouts completely surprised me because they were SO good. They were topped with pecans, cranberries, pepper jelly, and parmesan cheese, and all of the toppings worked so well together to elevate the flavor of the brussels sprouts. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I've been back just for those alone. 10/10. I also tried the Bayou Mac & Cheese which was creamy, flavorful, and cooked well. My only complaint is that it was topped with tomatoes, which wasn't listed on the menu, so I would've asked for it without them, but no big deal. We also had the Cajun Pasta which was good as well. Everything came out hot & Overall, the service was excellent, everything we had was really enjoyable, and the experience matched the aesthetic of the restaurant. I'd definitely return. read more

Today, we enjoyed a Valentine's Day lunch at Lumora Kitchen and Bar in Covington. Lumora is relatively new and is by the same folks responsible for The District in Ponchatoula, which is one of our favs. Located on Highway 190, Lumora has a stylish, contemporary persona that is decidedly upscale, but still possesses a comfortable, laid-back vibe that is quite appealing. Service was friendly and efficient and Taylor took excellent care of us. General Manager Josie dropped by our table to share info on Lumora and her visit was appreciated. There is a full bar and a wide selection of specialty cocktails. Today I had a Blood Orange Mezcal Margarita and my wife had an Ex-Presso Martini. Both were great! I highly recommend the Mezcal spice served up on the Margarita's rim in place of the standard salt. We then enjoyed the Zydeco Eggroll appetizer, which the pepper jelly garnish made truly memorable. I then followed with the Buffalo Chicken Pinsa and my wife had the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pinsa. Both were excellent; hot, pleasantly spicy, and generously portioned. We took home a lot of food. Although we had no room for dessert, several on the menu looked quite sumptuous. In short, Lumora Kitchen and Bar is highly recommended! It's a great spot for lunch, happy hour drinks, or a special date night. We will return. read more

The food was delicious,except the bacon wrapped shrimp under cooked. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly bad and really took away from the experience. We were a table of 7, ordered appetizers, and were brought the check immediately after--before anyone ever asked if we wanted entrees or dessert. It felt extremely rushed and unwelcoming. The servers were rude, inattentive, and made us feel like they just wanted us out of there. To make matters worse, we were overcharged, and my credit card was run before I was even shown the final bill, which is completely unacceptable. Great food, but the service needs serious improvement. We went on a Sunday night, party of 4. Atmosphere was nice, the odd holiday tree, the stamped wall treatment, the lighting fixtures, and the artpieces on the wall set a nice mood. You could tell that they were quite short-staffed. I felt sorry for the servers, as they were moving nonstop. It took a while for the waiter to get our order, and then to get the check to us. Their staffing situation needs to be fixed, and pronto. It really detracted from the experience. We had several appetizers. The bacon wrapped shrimp were presented in an entertaining way, hanging on a rack. They were delicious. The zydeco eggrolls were probably my favorite thing the whole night, excellent excellent excellent. I had a cheeseburger. It was a decent, but a bit too heavy on the salt. My date had the hot honey pepperoni pinsa; I tried a bit, it was great. The other couple dining with us had shrimp and grits, and the catfish. Went here last night for a Galentines the decor and atmosphere was intimate. Low lighting and really cutesy. Our server was amazing and handled our table of 10 with ease. She knew the menu well and helped us make tie breaker decisions when we wanted it all lol . The food was really good the only notes i had was the seafood dip was described as creamy but it came out more soupy. A few of our dishes came with mashed potatoes and the consistency of the mash was more of a potato soup. The flavors of the dishes were definitely on point so we only exchanged the mash for fries. Another great restaurant located on the Northshore! When you first walk in you will notice a modern decor. The ambiance is perfect for a date night, drink with the girls, or just dinner. My sister hosted her birthday dinner here which was also a plus. They are great with large parties and the food comes out very fast. Our server was amazing. He was able to recommend some tasty items on the menu anf let us know what othet customers have be raving about. For appetizers we started of with the eggrolls, seafood dip and honey bbq wings. (Thats what i took pictures of) we also ordered buffalo wings. Every appetizer that was ordered were awesome and very flavorful. The wings are a great sizenot those drumlettes size. The seafood dip was hot and creamy with tons of seafood. For entees: we ordered the Cajun pasta, smothered catfish, hot honey pepperoni flatbread, cajun chicken fried chicken, truffle butter skirt, and crawfish and shrimp gouda grits. When I say everything was amazing I mean everything. If I had to say my least favorite it would be the skirt steak. Its small and the truffle butter was different. But besides that the actual steak was good. The reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 were based on drinks. The mix drinks were very disappointing. There was no consistency in the drinks. Went for a girls night out for a birthday dinner. So good! All the things: the vibe, the table settings, the atmosphere, the drinks, the food, the service- it was all so good! Glad we found this restaurant. The ambiance is amazing. The service we received was over the top. We love trying different versions of Brussel Sprouts and Lumora has easily one of the best versions we have tried. The menu has some unusual offerings from fried rice to bayou mac and cheese. They offered a loaded baked potato soup that is more like a casserole than a soup. The Mac and Cheese was very rich with seafood and cheese. If you're looking for a good date night spot then this is it. I only have a few small recommendations. First, I would take your time ordering. They ended up bringing all of our food out at the same time. Starters and entrees came out at the same time. Then rushed and took the plates away when we weren't finished. Their French fries, Brussels, and drinks were amazing. The bread pudding was soggy and the shrimp appetizer was just basic (great presentation). We felt super rushed. I had lunch there today. The restaurant is beautiful inside and feels like a fancy happy hour spot. I arrived at opening so it was slow as service was ramping up but the server was very kind/helpful. I seldom try a brand new place but my husband and I were in the neighborhood at lunchtime so decided to give it a go and I'm glad we did. The restaurant is beautifully appointed (albeit with more a nightclub vibe than fine dining) and the service is fine. The menu is limited but interesting. The salads are fresh and delicious and the fries are among the best I've had. My only quibble is the burger patties were a little tasteless (nothing beats Kelly's wagu burgers to me!) Anyhow, they will be expanding the menu soon and we will definitely be back for dinner once they've been up and running longer. A large, clean, attractive dining area (formerly Mellow Mushroom) --excellent waitstaff, well groomed, attentive, competent resulting in excellent service. The food/menu is a diverse array of fairly traditional items known to most Northshoreites. My choice was the Pork Fig hamburger. Outstanding. Small cut fries, brioche bun, well seasoned. Lets just start with don't waste your time or money at this restaurant. They don't have the decency to serve you well or at all.... My group and I (10 people) attended Lumora with high expectations based on what we have heard and read about the place. What we got in return was a scratch of the list for us. 4 of our friends arrived early to the restaurant about 15-20 minutes before the rest of us and were seated as we had a reservation. They were not greeted when arriving and no one make contact with them after they sat down. The total time that it took for a waitress to come to the table for the first time was over 30 minutes and we had to go track someone down. The waitress was rude and could care a less about actually taking care of us or getting our orders right. We placed drink orders and appetizer orders to start. The drinks took 30 -40 minutes to arrive to the table and we all got them at different times and we had to ask about the drinks multiple times as they acted like they forgot what we even ordered. The waitress had to go behind the bar and become a bar tender to get the drinks out t us. The drinks the ladies ordered were fine however this restaurant has no idea how to make an old fashioned. The appetizers came out before the drinks which was not that big of a deal but having a drink would have been nice. The appetizers were fine but its all cheese seafood cream related so if you don't like that then this is not the place for you as everything has this in it including the mains. We placed our order for the main dishes and to be honest its not really all that. The burgers were frozen patties and the fish was absolutely imported. You own a restaurant in one of the seafood capitals of the world and you cant get fresh seafood but you have prices as if it were fresh.....We ordered second drinks and they also took 30+ minutes to arrive to the table. One of our group members ordered a simple hamburger and they forgot to make it and wanted to give it to him after he asked about it several times and then cancelled it as everyone was already finished eating then the best part tried to charge him for something he never even got. No manager came to discuss our issues after voicing our dissatisfaction many times nor did we get a sorry for the issues at all. This was is an absolute swing and a miss. If you are looking for quality food and service DO NOT GO HERE. If you want to look cool ordering a $15 drink that comes in a bird shaped glass to impress your friends than i guess this is a good spot for you but otherwise don't waste your money.
