    Cuban sandwich
    Bart C.

Nice restaurant with a unique menu. You go to the counter to place your order and get your drink. I ordered the Cuban sandwich with truffle fries. The sandwich was large and delicious. They had ooey gooey butter cake slices and chocolate and vanilla chip cookie that was massive and looked awesome.

Lola never misses, as usual! We wanted to try some things off the newly updated menu! Market fish is always a hit, as well as the Pork Belly appetizer. We had to get 2 desserts because we just couldn't decide - both were delicious. Great service as always and so beautifully decorated for the holiday season! This is my favorite restaurant for a reason! Highly recommend to everyone

Lola Cuban on Ciabatta with signature Lola salad side - lunch
    Mike H.

Dropped in with my wife for a Friday lunch and enjoyed our first experience at Lola, which is situated adjacent to the justice center, trailhead, and downtown areas in Covington. Lola features a neat and attractive small dining room, with space also in a vintage railway car. An outside deck is also available. Decor is tasteful and understated, and counter service is friendly and efficient. The lunch menu sports a number of specialty artisanal sandwiches and salads, and we had Cuban and Muffuletta sandwiches sided by the signature Lola salad. Sandwiches were very good and featured a ciabatta bread that was especially tasty. The Lola salads were also quite good and boasted an excellent house dressing with cranberries. We didn't try desserts or cocktails, but several quite appealing ones were available. Reservations are required for evenings (Friday and Saturday) and we will look forward to trying the dinner menu in the future. Recommended!

We made reservations and they actually had a specific table waiting for us. Our server came right away with water and took our cocktail order. I had the Ginger Snap which tasted like gin infused ginger ale. My wife had their Cosmo - both were delicious. For the appetizer, we had the Deviled eggs that come with fried oysters on them. One of the best things I've eaten in a long time. For entrees I had the Crawfish Risotto and my wife had the Ahi Poke Bowl. Both were wonderful. We had wine by the glass with dinner. The wine list isn't long but it had something for everyone. Lola is a quirky place with half the seating in an old railroad car-we were in the main dining room. It's a little noisy but still intimate and they don't jam the tables together to fit more guests in. They only serve dinner Friday and Saturday. It's a little pricey but we enjoyed it immensely.

First time dining at Lola and I wasn't disappointed. Went with a group of friends and we were seated in the train car which was very charming. The service was very attentive and the food was outstanding. Will definitely be back.

Incredible service, the folks there were welcoming and knew how to help our groups needs. The red beans and cornbread was good. The Lola salad and strawberry lemonade stood out. I'd come back here my next time in Covington.

Highly recommend the fish. The oyster special was amazing. Our server was great. Wonderful atmosphere.

We started with the chicken wings with honey barbecue sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly and had a good flavor. Next were the bacon wrapped shrimp and these were one of my favorite items of the night. The hot honey sauce was so good and the presentation made them even better. The cheese pull and sauce dripping down really sealed the deal for me. Easily a 10/10. The brussels sprouts completely surprised me because they were SO good. They were topped with pecans, cranberries, pepper jelly, and parmesan cheese, and all of the toppings worked so well together to elevate the flavor of the brussels sprouts. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I've been back just for those alone. 10/10. I also tried the Bayou Mac & Cheese which was creamy, flavorful, and cooked well. My only complaint is that it was topped with tomatoes, which wasn't listed on the menu, so I would've asked for it without them, but no big deal. We also had the Cajun Pasta which was good as well. Everything came out hot & Overall, the service was excellent, everything we had was really enjoyable, and the experience matched the aesthetic of the restaurant. I'd definitely return.

Lumora is…read morerelatively new and is by the same folks responsible for The District in Ponchatoula, which is one of our favs. Located on Highway 190, Lumora has a stylish, contemporary persona that is decidedly upscale, but still possesses a comfortable, laid-back vibe that is quite appealing. Service was friendly and efficient and Taylor took excellent care of us. General Manager Josie dropped by our table to share info on Lumora and her visit was appreciated. There is a full bar and a wide selection of specialty cocktails. Today I had a Blood Orange Mezcal Margarita and my wife had an Ex-Presso Martini. Both were great! I highly recommend the Mezcal spice served up on the Margarita's rim in place of the standard salt. We then enjoyed the Zydeco Eggroll appetizer, which the pepper jelly garnish made truly memorable. I then followed with the Buffalo Chicken Pinsa and my wife had the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pinsa. Both were excellent; hot, pleasantly spicy, and generously portioned. We took home a lot of food. Although we had no room for dessert, several on the menu looked quite sumptuous. In short, Lumora Kitchen and Bar is highly recommended! It's a great spot for lunch, happy hour drinks, or a special date night. We will return.

We really enjoyed Tchefuncte's!…read more They have their own parking lot, so it made it very easy to get in and out. You just park, the go inside, and the restaurant is on the 2nd floor. The service was phenomenal! It was for an anniversary, and they made sure to tell us happy anniversary, and add it to a little sign that was left on our table. Now for the main part: the food. Fried Oysters and Pork Belly - very good, if you get this make sure you eat them together (that was our "best bite" for that serving). Wedge Salad - one of the best wedge salad's we have had. The blue cheese dressing was creamy (rather than chunky blue cheese). It had crispy shoestring onion strings that almost acted as the croutons. I loved every bite that included lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and bacon. Delmonico Steak - this was probably our overall favorite item. Just a great steak, and large enough for both of us to enjoy. Redfish - this was good, not great. Would probably try something else other than this if we went back. Tchefuncte Potatoes - they almost were like a twice baked potato (flavor wise), but they are super creamy and fluffy and then turned into a lightly fried ball. Good and very unique. Crème Brûlée - if you like crème brûlée then you will enjoy it here. A classic dessert that was delicious. And to top it all off, the ambiance was great. It is right on the water, and service was very attentive.

The thicker, fattier steaks I usually get need a medium tempt to start rendering the fat, but this thinner cut - while still really, really good - would have benefited from a little less time on the fire. Lesson learned and something to look forward to next time. Still, it was a great meal and the house salads these folks serve up as a "side" are a meal in themselves - so fresh, and piled high with lettuce, grape tomatoes, boiled egg, cheddar cheese, and some super crunchy croutons. If ya like blue cheese, you're gonna love it here at TR. don't miss out! This ain't a one time thing, either, the salads are always this good and really complement the whole experience. My girls both got steaks, and salad, plus one of the perfectly baked sweet potatoes.
