    an omelet and potatoes

Food was cooked to order and came out really fast to say the restaurant was crowded. Due to the overwhelming crowd in the inside we dined outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The omelette I ordered was named after the restaurant and was very good. The portions of the meat and vegetables in the inside was just enough.

I am always excited to try new breakfast spots on the Northshore. I seem to always go to the same place every weekend and need some new restaurants to put in the rotation. Fat Spoon is located in a strip mall on HWY 59 in between Mandeville and Abita Springs. It is a little out of my way, but I decided to stop in one Sunday and give it a try. I opted for the pulled pork stacker. It had eggs, potatoes, pulled pork and gravy in the same bowl. That seemed like a winning combination, but it was just OK. The pork wasn't particularly flavorful and it detracted from the dish. I think the addition of a sauce other than cream gravy would improve the dish. Service was good and the owner was very friendly. The crowd mostly seemed to be regulars, but we were made to feel welcome despite it being our first time there. I don't know if fat Spoon will become my new go-to breakfast spot, but I am sure I will be back to try more of the menu.

Favorite brunch spot! Casual family atmosphere with a full bar. Seating at the bar for solo dining. They have traditional brunch food ..,,omelets, eggs Benedict and of course mimosas I had the French Dip with Sweet Potato Waffle fries and it was delicious! Bloody Mary was on point too! Seating is a little tight but the service is fast and friendly! Definitely be back!

The food was excellent, the service was great, and I'll be back in the future. Everyone in my family loved their meals. I had the Ember Black Cod, which was outstanding. They seem to be flexible in that you can order off the lunch menu at dinner or vice versa. Keep it on your radar and try it if you have not. Their food selection is vast, but also highly limited in flavor variety. Dishes are not much better than local chains and priced comparative to fine dining in the area. The few things I have ordered in several visits here have been either bland, prepared incorrectly or covered in overly salty sauces. Their standout dishes are definitely their tuna and the complimentary bread, which pairs well with the ricotta. At our last visit, we were not assigned a server, and despite the restaurant being empty, waited 20 minutes for a glass of water. One of the bartenders noticed (blonde) and was kind enough to jump in and assist. She helped up promptly and dinner came out quickly. Our order was simple, a chicken in papillote, tomato soup and burratta salad with chicken. The salad was fine but not well dressed, and whatever I did get of the dressing lacked acidity. Chicken was well seasoned and tasted great. The papillote chicken was disappointing as it had no color and resembled a boiled chicken breast. I understand a papillote technique, but think that it should have been done on a grill or at least finished on a broiler for color, texture and taste. The accompanying rice was also sloppily put on the plate with little care. The soup was cold, but after waiting so long we didn't send it back. It did taste good though. Cocktails were excellent! Service is generally good, and we understand this can happen anywhere, but the food was not enough to make up for it. I've noticed this with several restaurant groups in town that open a more "upscale" brand within. They often do not have the training and staff infrastructure to support the more luxury outlet. This often makes it feel like you paid (insert fancy restaurant here) prices for (insert casual/family style brand here) food. We will continue to come back for small plates and drinks but generally skip dinner unless it's an invite or group outing.

He checked on us consistently through service and even gave our dog a water bowl as well.

We have our favorites on both sides of the lake, but I recently read some great reviews somewhere online about Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen with locations in both Mandeville and Covington. After speaking with our friends we decided to dine at the Covington location of Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen. Inside the entrance, the restaurant posts their policy that you will not be seated at a table until all parties have arrived, which is understandable considering the huge amount of business they have. My wife and I arrived before our friends who were running a little late. The Hostess, Jill, asked me how many in our party and I told her four, but the other couple was running late and would be arriving in about 20 minutes. We took a seat in the empty waiting area inside the entrance. The restaurant appeared to have only one or two empty tables available inside when I arrived on a beautiful day. Five to ten minutes later the waiting area was full (approx. ten people). The restaurant was extremely noisy with all their customers enjoying their meals and conversing with friends/family. I noticed that there were approximately ten tables located in front of the restaurant in a beautiful covered patio, so I asked Jill if we could have a table outside once our friends arrived in about five more minutes because one of them was somewhat physically handicapped. There was only one empty table in the patio at the time. Jill explained that since she had a reservation in the patio for a party of eight that would be arriving soon, so she had been holding it for another available outside table to put together to accommodate this party. However, she said she would gladly give us the table. By this time, the waiting room was full of people and overflowing outside the entrance. I had given my seat to a lady and stepped outside to wait for my friends, who I noticed had arrived and parking their car. I told Jill and she seated us at the table in the patio. The four of us ordered different things on the menu, which were fantastic. Although the restaurant was packed, the waitress AND Jill visited our table several times to ensure we were enjoying our meals. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchens' ambiance, service, menu items (along with portion sizes) and prices were absolutely astounding. We were all very impressed and grateful for a beautiful dining experience. Special thanks to Jill who was abundantly pleasant to deal with. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen certainly placed Jill in the right position.

We got tacos and burgers. The drink was a watermelon cocktail. Everything was just mediocre unfortunately. I didn't think the tacos had good flavor, no wow factor. The drink was a bit watered down and the burger was just Ok, sort of bland, too. I think of all the places we tried while visiting the Northshore area, this may have been our least favorite. But it does have ambience going for it. It just needs better flavors in their food.

Service was friendly and efficient and Taylor took excellent care of us. General Manager Josie dropped by our table to share info on Lumora and her visit was appreciated. There is a full bar and a wide selection of specialty cocktails. Today I had a Blood Orange Mezcal Margarita and my wife had an Ex-Presso Martini. Both were great! I highly recommend the Mezcal spice served up on the Margarita's rim in place of the standard salt. We then enjoyed the Zydeco Eggroll appetizer, which the pepper jelly garnish made truly memorable. I then followed with the Buffalo Chicken Pinsa and my wife had the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pinsa. Both were excellent; hot, pleasantly spicy, and generously portioned. We took home a lot of food. Although we had no room for dessert, several on the menu looked quite sumptuous. In short, Lumora Kitchen and Bar is highly recommended! Fried Oysters and Pork Belly - very good, if you get this make sure you eat them together (that was our "best bite" for that serving). Wedge Salad - one of the best wedge salad's we have had. The blue cheese dressing was creamy (rather than chunky blue cheese). It had crispy shoestring onion strings that almost acted as the croutons. I loved every bite that included lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and bacon. Delmonico Steak - this was probably our overall favorite item. Just a great steak, and large enough for both of us to enjoy.
