    an omelet and potatoes

Food was cooked to order and came out really fast to say the restaurant was crowded. Due to the overwhelming crowd in the inside we dined outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The omelette I ordered was named after the restaurant and was very good. The portions of the meat and vegetables in the inside was just enough.

I am always excited to try new breakfast spots on the Northshore. I seem to always go to the same place every weekend and need some new restaurants to put in the rotation. Fat Spoon is located in a strip mall on HWY 59 in between Mandeville and Abita Springs. It is a little out of my way, but I decided to stop in one Sunday and give it a try. I opted for the pulled pork stacker. It had eggs, potatoes, pulled pork and gravy in the same bowl. That seemed like a winning combination, but it was just OK. The pork wasn't particularly flavorful and it detracted from the dish. I think the addition of a sauce other than cream gravy would improve the dish. Service was good and the owner was very friendly. The crowd mostly seemed to be regulars, but we were made to feel welcome despite it being our first time there. I don't know if fat Spoon will become my new go-to breakfast spot, but I am sure I will be back to try more of the menu.

Favorite brunch spot! Casual family atmosphere with a full bar. Seating at the bar for solo dining. They have traditional brunch food ..,,omelets, eggs Benedict and of course mimosas I had the French Dip with Sweet Potato Waffle fries and it was delicious! Bloody Mary was on point too! Seating is a little tight but the service is fast and friendly! Definitely be back!

Sunday morning driving around looking for a new place for breakfast. Here enters Fat Spoon Cafe! We had a good idea that maybe this was just the place to be as we saw cars entering and exiting, the parking lot was pretty filled up. Do we have a winner here?? To answer that question, why yes, YES we do! We were warmly greeted as we entered and informed sit where ever we like, Quickly someone was at our table taking our drink orders. Very quick and prompt service for sure. Checking the menu there were several items we were wanting to try but for me to find out if this is going to be a "go to" breakfast place for me, they need to have good eggs benedict and that they did. My BF gave the Fat Spoon Stackers a try and oh my, lets just say the plate is loaded with food. The biscuit looks to be about a mile high and delicious. I also upped my side of grits with debris and now were talking. I've included a few photos of our meal. Needless to say my BF's plate was cleaned while mine, I just couldn't get it all down. But I did give it my best try. Everyone was friendly, social and very welcoming. Service was fast, food was excellent, honestly you can't get much better. I'm looking forward to giving their lunch menu a try.

Great food, great service. I had the Shrimp and Grits and it was fabulous. Be prepared to wait, but it is totally worth it.

The location, directly on the St. Tammany Trace on Girod Street, is a definite winner. We dined outside today and service was excellent. We had a variety of burgers, salads, and munchables today and all were good. My Buffalo chicken salad was stellar; fresh, crispy, and generously portioned. They have a good selection of specialty cocktails and local brews, and the iced tea was good. Good things seem to be going on here. It will be interesting to see how things develop.

I tried a bait, and despite not being a big Cesar salad fan, did enjoy it. Chicken was flavorful, cooked perfectly and served on a beautiful cloves of garlic toast. Our apps were good. Chips and queso and flatbreads are pretty standard so they met my expectations. The Trace has plenty of menu options and beers on tap. I am curious to try their other menu items, specifically the main dishes. A very casual ambiance, we chose to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather. Our server was great and patient. He checked on us consistently through service and even gave our dog a water bowl as well.

Crazy Pig has an excellent menu for breakfast with lots of different options We went on a Sunday morning I got one of the omelettes I think mine was the lean omelette Everything comes with bread and or biscuit I can't eat bread or biscuit so our waiter offered me avocado and tomatoes, which were a perfect choice to go with my omelette Most restaurant places that I've been to usually just remove the item without offering a substitution I was so happy with the alternate options I spoke with the owner to let her know that I appreciate having the tomato and the avocado instead of the bread and the biscuit. Then she told me that they just had a class on food allergies This is really exceptional that a restaurant is taking up their own initiative to learn about food allergies so that they can service their customers with better care While the food is definitely excellent with the capacity to offer different options for the different dietary needs that people have and the staff is educated, I just wish that they had better coffee at the Mandeville location like a cappuccino or a café latte Still an excellent choice

We stopped in for Sunday brunch on my daughters birthday and had another fantastic meal…read more I ordered the Louisiana Crabmeat Sardou, and it was outstanding. Think eggs Benedict with a Louisiana crabmeat twist. It starts with a buttery homemade biscuit topped with a whole artichoke heart, creamed spinach, a perfectly poached egg, hollandaise, and caviar. It's served with a generous portion of lump crabmeat and a side of potatoes. With so many rich components, I expected it to be heavy, but everything was surprisingly balanced. Every bite worked together, and it was an incredibly delicious dish. My wife ordered the French Dip, which was the brunch special, and she absolutely raved about it. The shaved ribeye was incredibly tender, the Gruyère added just the right richness, and the au jus was packed with flavor. My daughter, who considers herself a burger connoisseur, insists their Brunch Burger is the best burger she's ever had. She ordered it again today, and it only reinforced that opinion. I also tried the Golden Hour cocktail, and it may have become my new favorite. I highly recommend giving it a try. From the food to the service, everything was exceptional. The service was phenomenal! It was for an anniversary, and they made sure to tell us happy anniversary, and add it to a little sign that was left on our table. Now for the main part: the food. Fried Oysters and Pork Belly - very good, if you get this make sure you eat them together (that was our "best bite" for that serving). Wedge Salad - one of the best wedge salad's we have had. The blue cheese dressing was creamy (rather than chunky blue cheese). It had crispy shoestring onion strings that almost acted as the croutons. I loved every bite that included lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and bacon. Delmonico Steak - this was probably our overall favorite item. Just a great steak, and large enough for both of us to enjoy. Redfish - this was good, not great. Would probably try something else other than this if we went back. Tchefuncte Potatoes - they almost were like a twice baked potato (flavor wise), but they are super creamy and fluffy and then turned into a lightly fried ball. Good and very unique. Crème Brûlée - if you like crème brûlée then you will enjoy it here. A classic dessert that was delicious. And to top it all off, the ambiance was great. It is right on the water, and service was very attentive.
