Cleanliness: 3 Food: 5 Quality: 4 Service: 4 I don't know why everyone's hating on Waffle House, I thought this place was great! Let's be honest with ourselves for a minute; Waffle House is basically a McDonald's where you pay at the end of your meal instead of the beginning. I don't expect sit down restaurant service or exquisite food here. If I'm at Waffle House, I want greasy, cheap food and i expect to be harassed by the staff. Of course, on this occasion I was not harassed by any team members. Basically, once you abandon all expectations, this place is great! My boyfriend and I were taken care of by Jasmine; she was a nice staff member who was also super busy helping out the other diners (the place was packed). She wasn't able to be super prompt all the time, but she tried her best as the restaurant filled up. We ordered a breakfast platter with over easy eggs, toast, hash browns and sausage. I ordered an additional waffle. We got to watch the food being made right in front of us and within 5 minutes we had our food! It was delicious; eggs were perfect, hash browns were cooked well, waffle was amazing. Honestly not a bad place to get a quick, cheap breakfast!

Steak (supposedly), eggs, biscuits... And a whole lot more.

This place is loud... With chatter, dishes clanging, kids screaming, servers barking orders at the chef. Not loud like a jet engine or a car backfiring, more like a jet engine backfiring machine-gun style as children wail, their parents bicker, dishes break, and the wait staff riles up the kitchen crew. Bring hearing protection. Otherwise the service is curt and the food is edible.

I thought my Hashbrowns tasted funny. I turned them over and that's what I found.... Gross!

One of the dirtiest most & awful waffle houses in the universe! I only was here because it's close by.... I was actually served fuzzy lemons and mostly raw eggs.. If you look behind the counter where cooking is done... it's filthy. Large turn never bad management but hey it's Waffle House right? Lower your expectations.

I have never been an egg-on-a-burger kind of guy. Ever. I always thought that was one of those things people did just to make a burger unnecessarily complicated. Gloriette converted me. The egg absolutely works, the burger is fantastic, and whatever they call those fried potatoes or hash browns that come with it, damn good. One of the kids got the short rib and eggs. Hell yeah. That thing was amazing. I may have had a little order envy. The first time I went was for lunch. I had a couple of drinks and, shockingly, another burger. Apparently I have a very adventurous ordering style. Maybe next time I'll venture farther into the menu, but when the burgers are this good it's hard to talk myself into it. The restaurant itself is also just a really cool spot. Great decor, cute without trying too hard, and it honestly feels like you stepped into a little restaurant in France instead of sitting in Covington. Two visits, two really good meals. I'll definitely be back. And apparently I'm now an egg-on-a-burger guy, which is not something I expected to happen at this stage of my life.

The establishment itself is located in a cozy little spot in downtown Covington. Tastefully decorated and full of natural light, The Gloriette is a charming, upscale little spot that boasts "a taste of European tradition, a touch of Louisiana soul." And they're not wrong. Our reservations were for 7pm and we were promptly seated upon arrival. Our drink and appetizer orders were taken by our server shortly after arriving. To start, the four of us decided to share the honey goat cheese spread and confit pork belly (of which, I somehow neglected to take pictures for some reason...). Both were spectacular. My Sazerac was perfectly made, and my wife really enjoyed her watermelon sugar cocktail, which she specifically noted as not being too sweet. I'm not big on presentation because I'm a pretty simple guy. But when our entrees arrived I couldn't wait to dig in. Everything looked absolutely delicious. My wife chose the braised beef short ribs, our friends chose the filet mignon and the blackened gulf fish, and I opted for the grilled red fish. I only had a small bite of my wife's short ribs but it melted in my mouth. And my grilled red fish paired with the basil pesto pearl pasta was phenomenal. The North Shore is loaded with great restaurants and The Gloriette falls right in line with the rest of them. Truly a great experience from beginning to end.

They're $10 on Mondays - get in here and get you one as soon as you can...then get another. Now I can't wait until Monday. But, I was in there over the weekend, and tried a recommended dish - the Bayou Omelet. We split the dish, which we ordered with perfectly crisped hash browns (my description, not the menu), and a cathead biscuit. What's a cathead biscuit you may ask? So did we. It's a biscuit as a big as a cathead! And guess what, I hope I don't run into that cat, 'cause he's a big-un'. But back to this omelet. Dang, y'all, it was sooo good - the seafood was fresh and tasty, the eggs were cooked to perfection, and every bite screamed "we love you, thanks for stopping in!" Had some hot, black coffee with it - also pretty good...good enough for a second and third cup, for sure. Two visits in and still impressed - if you make it out, leave some time for a little stroll around the little town of Abita Springs...the Brew Pub is great for an after dinner pint to wash down whatever amazing treat you had at the Cafe'.

I wasn't expecting much but we ended up pleasantly surprised. The interior seems similar to other types of walk up counter local restaurants, dated but it works. The lady at the counter was helpful and nice. For the lunch time rush, they got food out pretty quickly and what we ordered was fresh and so good. The French bread was so soft. The fish was plentiful and flavorful. The red beans and rice was comforting and the hush puppies were good as well. We would absolutely return.

The sandwich was great! I loved the French Bread too. The shrimp were delicious as were their fries. I couldn't leave without at least an ice cream cone. It was really piled high with creamy soft serve ice cream on a cake cone. Service was good throughout my stay. A lot of folks with kids coming in for ice cream too.
