Went to Cheddars on Monday 4/28/25 with family of 5, 2 from Conneticut. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First of all when walking into the restaurant there was a stench of dirty carpet smell.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in a u-shaped booth in a dark corner. My daughter noticed when sliding into the booth there was food (pieces of chicken and other food) on the seat. Also there was a large hole in the seat where the stuffing was showing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The waitress seated us in another area after we informed her. We ordered burgers. I took mine home after eating half and took the rest home. I tried to eat it the next day and the half portion had the distinct flavor of a char taste that resembled a taste of a grill that had not been cleaned well. In town visiting some family we decided to stop here for lunch. This was a really good spot for a chain restaurant. Actually more then good. This was by far the worst experience I've had in a restaurant. Table of 4 waited over 1hr to receive our food. 2 orders came out , and 2 were still missing. When I asked to change the orders to go, we received the check with all 4 ordered charges. Once we paid, the remaining two orders still weren't out so we got up and left. Once we left, the server said she'll get the manager. Which was too late. The manager should've been called from the beginning not when we are leaving. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Service was absolutely terrible with no effort from the staff to try and make it right. read more

We live in New Orleans and probably once per month we drive out to Slidell to go to Cheddars. Not only is it a fantastic value for the price ($20 steak that are delicious). But for me the real selling point is our waitress Melissa. She is so conscientious, sweet, funny and very efficient. She really is a highlight of the visit. She actually enjoys people. The spinach dip was burned at the bottom, seems they warmed it in the microwave and overcooked it. I guess it was cold. Then I paid $2.79 each for two sides of sweet carrots that contained 8 carrots each. At $2.79 they could have at least halfway filled the container! Never Ever again! read more

One of my 87-year-old neighbor's favorite places to eat was cheddars. Since I have never been, we decided to give it a go. It was crowded, but every one had enough space to spread out and get comfortable. The decor is ultra modern and chic, the fish tank in the wall, spectacular. The first time I tried the food, I tried the 6oz steak w grilled shrimp. Unfortunately for the keto girl, the shrimp had a spicy/sweet/sour glaze which definitely broke me out of Ketosis. But with everything going on in the world, I decided to enjoy. The server chick, Stevie, as in Stevie Nicks, was exceptional. Funny, attentive to our every need, offered to take the honey glazed carrots back to the kitchen to get them a bit softer for my older dinner companion, just all around, made a great impression as a top-notch employee. I even offered to make her a tumbler, seen in the attached video. No charge. She was that good. The second time we decided to go eat there a few days later and deliver the tumbler in person. Stevie was delighted, remembered my dinner companion "Mrs Grace's" name and preferences, and once again, it was a great dining experience. My 14oz medium rare steak was nicely done with a good sear on the outside, and I doubled up on the broccoli with butter and lemon. Mrs Grace chose the Vegetable Plate and had 5 different sides of her choice at a very affordable price. Love this place, ask for Stevie's section! :D read more

Cheddars has been my go to for years but something has definitely changed! The last few times I've been I haven't been satisfied. The prices are still great but maybe the kitchen staff needs to evaluated! Normally, I have no complaints but tonight was unacceptable considering there were only 5 tables total in the restaurant. We waited a good while for our food only for it to come out ice cold. The members in my party sent their food back to have it reheated only for it to come out cold AGAIN! The excuse can't be that the kitchen or server was busy because like I stated there were only 5 tables. The manager Keisha was very nice & understanding. Hopefully, something can shake to bring them back to the restaurant they use to be. read more

Love cheddars. Don't have them where I live so I usually go to them when I find them on the road. Came in for dinner around 7 pm and was seated immediately. I ordered a peach lemonade while I perused the menu. The waitress came back and said they were out of lemonade so I got a root beer and ordered my dinner. I got the Bourbon glazed salmon over rice and got the sweet baby carrots and the side salad with balsamic dressing. Salad came out quick and was very good. No cucumber in it, which I found odd but other than that was very good and very large. Dinner came out when I was almost done with my salad so I pushed it aside and dig into the fish. Everything was very good. Carrots were cooked perfectly, not mushy like they've been boiling all day. Rice was tasty and sooo good with the glaze on it. They give you a little cup of sauce and I put some on the rice. Yum. Fish was cooked just right, no raw but not overcooked so the white fat has turned solid. Waitress was really nice and attentive. First off they were short staffed on a Saturday which is a no no. So the wait was like an hour and 15 minutes and we had a party of 12. We eventually got seated with a table and a booth which was fine because the booth was near the other table. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We started with the queso and chips and the free honey butter croissants. I could it 10 of those soo good. The food was delicious I had the bourbon glazed salmon with rice and broccoli , my daughter had the New Orleans pasta and some had the steak and others had salmon. No complaints on the food or the delicious strawberry swirl slush margarita. Wish I would've taken pics but was too hungry Kudos to the blonde haired waitress who worked at the back. The food was great, I wasn't impressed with the margaritas. I ordered the Maui Margarita which includes strawberry and mango purée and a shot of cactus juice .... It was very sweet, if you perfect drinks that aren't fruity and really sweet don't get this one... it's also 500 cals I'm 1 drink and was not strong at all. For my food I ordered the 5oz steak, Idaho potato's and brocolli with a side salad (which was huge for a side salad). All meats come with a butter honey croissant... let me tell you those croissants are the devil. I'm not a bread fan but I ate the entire basket. Big fans of Cheddars Odessa, so we tried here. We are sat immediately with crescents covered with icing. OMG, what a start. Spinach dip app took 5 minutes. Hot creamy dip, hot crisp chips, very good. Ordered ribs, chicken strips, pasta, ahi salad and 20-minutes later it got to us. Not impressed. Odessa always got our food in 12 to 14 minutes max. On a Monday, business is slow. What a great little find! We've been here several times now and are impressed with each visit. According to the waitstaff, they make everything in house here and after trying several different dishes, I believe it. This last visit we shared a Monte Cristo - my first one. It was really good, even though it was a little sweeter than I like my food to be. But, this is the nature of the Cristo, from what I understand. Next time I'll order it with a slice or two of bacon so the salty, smoky meat will add a layer of flavor and cut the sweetness by a touch. The wife, though, really enjoyed hers, but she's a sweet, sweet lady. ;) It was served with a raspberry jam for dipping/spreading. As to the portion size, it was plenty big enough for the wife and I along with an appetizer. We shared the onion rings; again, made fresh, in house, and served with Ranch and a DELICIOUS mustard horseradish sauce. This plate was fantastic! Huge serving of really tasty onion rings. How good? The wife is ready to go back just to split an order! So, 5 or 6 visits in at this Cheddar's in Slidell and I am hooked. Yes, it's a chain, but they're doing it well here. Oh, almost forgot to mention the most impressive part...the price! The building is well appointed, the atmosphere is very pleasing, and the waitstaff is always on point with drinks, food, conversation, everything. 15-20 min wait so we decided to sit at the bar for quicker service. The drinks were good! Got the spinach dip with chips and salsa. The salsa was gross..had some off-flavor to it. The dip was alright..probably would give it like a 3/10. Not much flavor, could've had a better consistency. I got the 6 oz sirloin with broccoli casserole (close to flavorless) and red beans and rice (also not very seasoned).The sirloin was tough, chewy, hard..like a hockey puck..had a crispiness to it on the outside and was cooked as requested-medium rare. It was seasoned well..but i had a few bites and took the leftovers home to give to my dogs...obviously the honey butter croissants are AMAZING!!! My friend got a burger and it was pretty overcooked and hard and flavorless..it just seems like they don't do steak/burgers very well here..And service isn't expected to be great at the bar..the first time I came here, the service was good..i got the ribs and fries and those were great! Rarely am I ever disappointed with what Cheddars has to offer. Every blue moon, hubby and I decide to take a ride cross the river to Slidell for a cheap meal. This restaurant gives you lots of food for a low price!! I started with a Painkiller drink, which was good. Should have gotten a second one to feel the full effects. For our appetizers we decided to try the "new" Texas sized nachos with ground beef. They were a pretty good size. Came with the works, plus ranch and bbq sauce, minus sour cream. It was okay, but would have been better with sour cream. Don't think I will be thirsty to order it again. For our entrees, hubby ordered a combination plate, half rack ribs, chicken strips, buttery corn on the sides, along with a side of broccoli cheddar rice. As usual, he sides were good, even better when mixed together! He liked the ribs and chicken tenders with the bbq sauce. I ordered a bacon cheddar cheeseburger and French fries. I've been a huge fan of Cheddar's for years now but my recent visit ended in disappointment! Drove all the way from Metairie because I was craving it. My date and I ordered the Spinach dip and it was good but not hot enough in terms is temperature. I ordered the Salmon and shrimp with a house salad and broccoli cheddar casserole and my date ordered Ribeye with mashed potatoes with cheese and sour cream. My salmon was not blackened and his potatoes came out with bacon on it (he does not eat pork). Turns out they brought him the wrong plate. I requested another side of mash and this time it came as a kiddie portion with unmelted cheese. I sent it back again and asked for it to be made CORRECTLY again! Final try, it came out on a saucer with two huge scoops of buyer, cheese and sour cream sliding everywhere!!! Just disgusting! I asked for boxes to go. We paid the bill and left the mashed potatoes. read more

The food was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! My little niece had the chicken Alfredo the pasta was over cooked and cold. The chicken was over cooked and dry. And no where on the menu did it say the pasta had broccoli in it. Then it was mushed up broccoli like it had been grated. I had the white fish which was not good at all. It was very slimy. My broccoli rice portion size was for a kids plates. And the fries was over cooked. My mom had a rib and steak dinner. She said the streak was so tuff she could barely eat it. We had a 10-minute wait so we can have a table by the bar so my husband and my two boys can watch sports instead of having family time LOL but the food was hot the drinks was smoking and we will definitely be back for rounds two three four and five. read more

First time visitor, and I will most definitely be back! Our server Cocoa was awesome! The food was awesome, starting with the honey buttered croissants. Those were a pleasant surprise. I normally drink water but I was feeling fancy so I ordered strawberry lemonade, it did not disappoint! I also had the Monte Cristo, which was wrapped in beignet and served with raspberry jam. Freakin YUM. The SHB had the New Orleans pasta and that was really good too. Over all great experience. Seated right away, loved the fish tank and giant fan. Cocoa was an amazing, attentive, humorous and personable server. SO important. Service was great, we didn't wait long for our food and never wanted for anything. We went during the week at lunch and surprisingly it was very busy we had to wait around 15 minutes. And the waitress was friendly and came to our table within five minutes to take our drink order and bring us complementary honey butter croissants, which are one of my favorite things about this restaurant. Another favorite of mine is the Wisconsin cheese bites they are cooked perfectly, very crunchy, and have great flavor. We also order the Monte Cristo sandwich and the buffalo chicken wrap. The Monte Cristo was good but the Buffalo wrap was lacking sauce and flavor and the wrap seemed old. Overall the experience was good, but be prepared to wait, the food takes a while to get there, and service is slow. Oh. My. Goodness. I did not expect Cheddars to be this tasty AND inexplicably cheap. It's a sit-down restaurant with polished decor and prices almost close to fast food--wow. No wonder it was so packed on a Sunday afternoon! The menu ranges from sandwiches, soups, salads, steak, pasta, and many other entree items. I ordered the pork chop, which came with mashed potatoes, onion rings, and a loaded baked potato--only $10.99. The glaze was so sweet and the potatoes were very creamy and made from scratch. Not to mention my cocktail was only $4.50! I was flat out blown away at how much of a good deal it was. It's a shame that Cheddars is so far from New Orleans. I'm definitely rooting for a Cheddars to pop up somewhere in Metairie. There is so much value in the quality of food you get here. I'll most likely go out of my way just to go back there! read more

This was my first time coming here in almost three years and my first restaurant post covid-19 restrictions. I was saddened to learn that pasta won't be on the menu until possibly phase 3. We had Heather as our waitress and she was phenomenal. She had a comic mask that she of course kept on but she still held conversations with us and laughs. My maui margarita was great, was not a fan of the cactus juice. Whenever we needed anything , salt and pepper, more dressing, extra plates ,etc, she returned with the items so quickly even though she had other tables too. She was efficient. I will be back once they add pasta as I wasn't too crazy about the ribs or steak to go back but I'll definitely ask to sit in her section if possible. The croissants were the best thing there and the first batch was on the house. We ordered the spinach dip and they give way more chips than needed for us. Next time we'll just get another bowl of spinach dip and share the one serving of chips between the two orders. The bathroom was clean and I love that they have touchless/sensored hand paper towel dispensers and it's a plus In this "new normal" that their doors are push to exit. read more
