I stopped by in October for a quick coffee and breakfast. The place is a little janky but I like all the nostalgia games and decor. We got coffee, mini beignets ($5), and banana foster ($13) and they were all solid. The place was packed with lots of people waiting around, but it didn't take too long to get our order (whereas some people that ordered alcoholic drinks had a huge wait for some reason). The beignets were small but nice, light, and crispy with good powdered sugar. The banana foster was a huge portion and also very tasty.

Super cute place - great decor and perfect for a quick breakfast/coffee stop. We were greeted with a friendly hello once entering which was nice. It was empty so we were skeptical BUT it was late morning on a Sunday - so we figured everyone was just getting up and out. We placed our order at the counter and then sat in a cute little area surrounded by retro video games. Love that! We got basic breakfasts - we just wanted something in our bellies before walking around in the Nola heat. Everything was tasty and nice and hot. My iced coffee was great as well! Come check out Nostalgia when in town!

Cute little spot right next to the Sheraton off of Canal. Went on a Friday night. Nice vibes with the lights dimmed, the music playing not too loud and the vintage VHS playing on the old school oversized TV. There is an area where you can play console games on the TV. There are some vintage arcade games and some card & board games as well. Now let's talk about food. I am a food lover but what's more important is customer service. If you have an amazing product or great food but bad service that's a zero out of five for me but this place...customer service was great. One couple in front of us was ordering when we entered and he (the staff) was patient while we looked over the menu then answered all of our questions respectfully. The food was amazing too. I mean soooo good. We will definitely visit this place again next time we are in town.

Just what you would imagine to find at a place like this.

If you are not a local and have some down time Nostalgia is a great place to kick it. They have some really nostalgic items like vintage arcade games, VHS tapes and decor that will trigger 80s babies feels and they have music to go along with it which is cool. Barista was cool and helpful and the drink was "meh" we ordered a chai tea and it was pre made. We were expecting something made on the spot. So maybe stick to coffee if you want something made there. The main reason to come here would be to play some arcade games listen to the music and just go down memory lane. They had the classic Ninja Turtles, NFL blitz, NBA 2k, PacMan just to name a few. Just buy an item to get access to the games and enjoy your time there.

Cute retro coffee shop. There's video gaming if you want to check it out. I came in for my morning coffee and they have over 30 different flavors. They brewed a fresh coffee for my friend and me. The service was so impeccable. They were funny and sweet. I got the lavender honey latte and it was so good! I would come back for another flavor. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this location!

Cute little coffee shop, great coffee and friendly service. Took awhile to get a breakfast burrito but it was so worth the wait!

What a cute little coffee shop with old video games to play for free. The coffee was delicious and the service was friendly. We ordered a breakfast burrito which was so delicious and perfectly made, although it took a long time to make but was worth it!

Yeah they have old school arcade games in the spot, you can play while you wait or sip on your coffee.

Great coffee selections , great atmosphere. There are allot of ways to enjoy your coffee, which can be a bit of a challenge if your not an experienced coffee drinker .. That's another reason why I loved this spot. There website actually breaks down the different styles of making coffee I ended up getting the " black eye" on ice.. Had a chance to meet the lady's who own the spot on my visit. Great coffee, locally ran, black owned establishment. https://www.nostalgianola.com/

What's not to love about a coffee shop that thrust you back to the 90s! The art work and creative placement mixed with nostalgic games, movies and music sets a fun, carefree environment to sip and enjoy coffee/tea. I enjoyed the tea and the music was also a great addition. The owner was also here when I came and was very welcoming and knowledgeable on the coffee. Nostalgia has a vast variety for tea and coffee ! I will definitely be back when I am in New Orleans.

Great venue and coffee. We need more places like this!

Great coffee and croissant. I could spend all day playing the games in there. What a cool place!

Happened to stumble across this shop since our rental was so close. Tried coffees all over the city and this was my favorite. Tried different drinks everyday and each one did not disappoint. They had a live dj Sunday night and we came in just to hang out before bedtime with our toddler. Customer service is top notch and the arcade games are a hit for the whole family. Must try!

This coffee shop was so cool! They had tons of games, and it was good vibes. The coffee was a 10/10!!! And the baristas were so kind! I had the pumpkin chai coffee and it was honestly the best pumpkin coffee I've had! My sister and brother had the brown sugar bae coffee, and the cinnamon toast crunch coffee and they were also good! Highly recommend this place!

The restaurant was packed, and the staff was moving nonstop--but what really stood out was how smoothly everything was handled despite how busy it was. The food? Easily a 10/10. The chicken had that perfect balance--crispy and slightly spicy on the outside, yet unbelievably juicy and tender on the inside. You can tell real care goes into it. The greens were cooked just right with a subtle hint of spice that gave them great flavor, and the slaw had a light sweetness that complemented everything perfectly. Service was just as impressive. My server, Tashena, was attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing without missing a beat, even in the rush. You could tell she genuinely cared about the experience. I also have to shout out the manager, Whitney. She was incredibly uplifting, constantly cheering on her team and keeping the energy positive and motivated. That kind of leadership really shows in the overall experience. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, I can confidently say this is a 1000/10 recommend. I'll definitely be back

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! We will be back.

The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children (one being only 2 years old), and because of that they changed our table type from a 4-top to a 5-top and made us wait an additional 30 minutes. Meanwhile, multiple tables became available that easily could have accommodated us, but the hostess was determined to keep telling us we had to wait. To make matters worse, there was open bench seating in the back where customers ordering to-go could sit. I offered to order food to-go so we could at least sit down and get started while waiting, and she told me if I did that they would remove our name from the waitlist because "you have to pick one or the other." No willingness to problem solve whatsoever. She repeatedly said she was "sorry," but her actions showed the opposite. I was simply trying to work together to find some reasonable solution instead of continuing to watch everyone else get seated while our family, including small children, kept waiting. Absolutely horrible customer service experience.

If you're looking for authentic New Orleans comfort food without everything being overloaded with…read moresalt, Mother's is definitely worth a stop. The food was flavorful, satisfying, and reminded me of the kind of home-style meals you'd find at The Pantry in Los Angeles. Every bite tasted well-seasoned without being overpowering, which can be hard to find with Southern comfort food. The restaurant has that classic New Orleans energy. It's busy, lively, and clearly a favorite among both locals and visitors. Seating can be limited during peak times, so I'd recommend getting there early if you can. The customer service was outstanding. The staff brought that genuine Southern hospitality that makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. Easily a 10/10 experience on the service side. One surprise was the Bloody Mary. They use a pre-made mix, but don't let that fool you. It was incredibly flavorful, balanced, and one of the better Bloody Marys I've had. Overall, great food, great service, and a true New Orleans experience. Definitely a place I'd visit again when I'm back in N'awlins.

Ordered DoorDash from HDK on the cred of the many positive Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. Tried two dishes, as I couldn't settle on one. The fried fish and shrimp were outstanding! Loved the dipping sauce and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The fish fillet was about an inch thick and so moist and flaky. Yum! Not sure I loved the fries with the crawdat sauce - they were a little salty. This ff dish kinda gives poutine vibes with the gravy. The Superdome was also tasty. I liked the fried fish better than the blackened, but the mashed potatoes and corn and sauce draped over the fish was rich and delicious. This fish was much thinner and a little chewy. I'd love a hybrid of Superdome using the thicker fried fish. Bread pudding was my dessert, warm and dripping in caramel/brown sugar sauce. I had to restrain myself from eating the whole thing! Unfortunately the restaurant was closed as the entire street had a power outage, but the chef very kindly came out to greet us and let us know what was going on and offered us some complimentary cold water for our trouble. I made sure that my group instead came back on our way out, and everyone raved about their meals and said perhaps it was best that we saved it for last! My Seafood Extravaganza came with a THICK piece of blackened fish, a generous topping of grilled shrimp, and excellently cooked fries topped with that crawfish sauce. My friends loved the grits and dark meat fried chicken in their meals. We all dug in so fast I'm sad to say I didn't take any photos to share! The chef came out once again to chat with us, and it's clear he really appreciates every guest. Heard Dat Kitchen offers the best of both soul food and Creole food under one roof with a good helping of Southern hospitality, and it's absolutely worth a trip or ordering in from the more touristy parts of the city. As our rideshare drivers testified, this is the real deal! Keep in mind it only has counter seating and outdoor picnic tables in a pretty small no-frills spot; I think the service and food definitely deserves to be displayed in a full-service restaurant if that is what the chef ever decides to do.
