This is my first day in Nee Orleans so please excuse me if I miss the vibe. We had our first meal at Mambo's. The entrance was great and we got to sit on the balcony with a view of Bourbon Street. The waitress came to the table quickly, her name was Tamesha. Very nice lady but it just seemed like being a waitress was not her choice of jobs. She took our drink order and then our food order. She came back a couple times to confirm the drink order but we eventually got them. The appetizer of Grilled Oysters came out quickly and were VERY Tasty. After that things slowed down. Second drink took a bit to come to the table and my order of the Taste of New Orleans never made it. I politely reordered and it then came out quickly but was missing the additional Alligator bites I ordered the first time. The food was very tasty. Second drink took a while, and considering it was early on a Tuesday night that was unusual. The food and drinks were very good, no complaints. The timing and accuracy could have been better. The atmosphere was great, sitting on the balcony you get to experience Bourbon street at its best. Over all, I would definitely go back. Total experience 7/10 read more

I've visited this restaurant three times during my stay in New Orleans, and that alone should tell you how much I've enjoyed it! From the moment you walk in, the staff is welcoming, helpful, and genuinely kind. Their hospitality keeps me coming back just as much as the food. I always choose to sit upstairs on the balcony, which offers the perfect combination of great dining and a front-row seat to the energy of Bourbon Street. It's an experience all by itself. Now let's talk about the food. Bayybeeee, those mustard greens are absolutely to die for! They are seasoned perfectly and packed with flavor. Service was friendly and welcoming. If you're really hungry after 10 PM when most restaurants have already closed, this is definitely a solid option on Bourbon Street. The fried shrimp were a solid 8/10--very fresh, plump, and cooked just right. The fries were crispy, light, and well seasoned. I also tried the gator bites and definitely recommend getting them fried instead of blackened. One thing I noticed while visiting New Orleans is that many restaurants on Bourbon Street seem to have very similar menus and drinks, so don't expect this place to be dramatically different from its neighbors. Went here during my trip to New Orleans for Southern Decadence last September--first time in NOLA. Me and two friends split off from the group and were just wandering the French Quarter looking for something that felt authentic but still a little different. Stumbled on Mambo's, checked out the menu outside, and decided to go for it. They've got a solid mix--fried alligator, rice dishes, all that--but the server told us about a special that ended up being the best thing I ate the whole trip. It was this shrimp pasta with either Alfredo or a spicy Cajun sauce, over fried fish (don't even remember what kind, I just know it hit). Only L is I went back on my last day craving it and the special had changed But yeah--big space, good music, great energy, and honestly you can't really go wrong with the food. My review is a little late, but better late than never! On February 16th, after our jazz cruise, we decided to grab something to eat on Bourbon Street. After walking around and checking out a few menus, we ended up choosing Mambo's. I already knew I wanted Mambo's Famous Oysters, and let me just say... they were out of this world good! My boyfriend ordered the gator tail bites, and he really enjoyed them too. We had previously gone to Fiery Crab, and he said Mambo's gator bites were way better. The vibe was really nice, and what stood out to me was that the manager actually came over to our table, introduced himself, and checked on us. That level of customer service really shows they care about their guests. We didn't make it up to the rooftop this time, but it's definitely on my list for our next visit. Ok, I'm a little late with this review--I started it and never finished. Shoutout to Yelp for that draft section I just discovered! While strolling down Bourbon Street, we decided to grab dinner and ended up at Mambo's--and I'm so glad we did! It's a multi-level spot, and we dined on the second floor. The vibe was vibrant, unique, and full of that authentic New Orleans energy. I've heard there's a rooftop bar too, but we didn't make it up there this time. Now let's talk about the food--SO good! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and full of that classic New Orleans taste I've really come to love. And the drinks? Definitely doing what they needed to do! It's worth waiting in the line! Good thing we beat the rush. We were already in when we saw that the line was building up. Thanks to Dominique our server for being quick to get our order. But the food didn't get served right away that's why the fries were kinda not that crispy hot anymore. But it's still okay. Now, the crab cake... wow... love it!!!! It's topped with gravy. This place was incredible. I was only visiting for three days, and we ended up coming here twice because nothing else compared. We tried a few other spots, but this restaurant stood out in every way. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. Our favorites were the crawfish étouffée and the gator bites. My husband said the pecan pie was the best he's ever had, and I felt the same way about the bread pudding. My brothers and I was hungry after attending a basketball game. Not many places are open after 10pm. So we decided to try this place out. We really wanted to sit on the roof top but a big group on people came in about 1 min before us and took the whole roof top. We arrived and there was no line and didn't mind waiting. The guy told us two minutes. Another guy came up and said oh you're fine and the first guy said no go stand in line. Kept stringing us along and ended up waiting 30 minutes even though we kept saying we just wanted a drink and not food. He took cash from people and let them in before us. My wife found this restaurant and sent me the location, so I walked 18 minutes from my hotel excited to try it out... only to leave completely disappointed. I ordered the fish special they were advertising, and horrible would be an understatement. The food came out looking like something that never should've left the kitchen. As a server, there's no way I would've brought a plate looking like that to a customer. The fish was supposed to be fried, but somehow came out soggy and greasy like it had been badly deep fried, and not even fried correctly. I honestly don't know how they thought that was acceptable to serve. I told the server, "Man, this food is soggy. Did they deep fry this?" He immediately said, "I'll take it back," with no hesitation. That alone told me he already knew the food wasn't right. I'm a chef, and there's absolutely no excuse for serving fish like that. The mashed potatoes came out cold, and when the fish came back the second time, it still wasn't right. At that point, I just paid and left. I still tipped $2 because I hate not tipping. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Don't waste your hard-earned money on bad food and disappointment. Big disappointment!!!! Then the server asked, Do you need a carry out box! Stopped by since this place had a diverse menu offering all the NOLA highlights. Our server was awesome and let me try a single oyster since I couldn't decide between the oysters and another item. (1/2 dozen order is minimum). Their charred oyster was AMAZING. the oyster superiority itself it's hard to detect with the way it's prepared (charred) but it's a must try. I also got the fried chicken platter which was HUGE. It was just okay as the fried chicken wasn't super special. I was also very unimpressed with the hush puppies. We got a pasta and that was good. Nice dessert and drinks options too. I'd recommend this place not for a full meal for a little bit of this and that and I could see the rooftop being fun. read more

This spot has a great roof top view of the French Quarter, and even though it was pretty chilly, we gladly sacrificed the warmth for the vibes. We were excited to try our first restaurant in New Orleans. Made reservations for 6 people online for the same day. Upon arriving, we were seated within minutes. Tables were not completely clean but it was ok. The restaurant had a nice vibe with many customers waiting to eat. Our favorite dishes were the fried fish, fried shrimp, and the grilled redfish beurre blanc. The fried fish and shrimp were crunchy on the outside, lots of flavor, and tender on the inside. The grilled fish was tender and savory, just melts in your mouth. The eggplant sticks were soggy, so we didn't like it. The cheeseburger was ok. If you're looking for southern food and you're in the area, give it a try. There are many other eateries that are just as good or better. Stopped in to Mambo's on a late night eat excursion after just landing and getting checked in at the hotel. Walked several blocks and stumbled upon this place which was one of very few places on a Tuesday still open and serving food. We took a seat at the bar and decided on a beer each and to share the Taste of New Orleans. The sampler was just what we needed. Crawfish etoufe was delicious, red beans and rice delicious and the chicken gumbo with sausage was also delicious. The bar area was a little sticky an dirty otherwise they'd have gotten 5 starts. Ever since I booked my plane ticket to New Orleans, my Instagram feed wouldn't stop showing me Mambo's -- so I figured it had to be a sign. I finally made it there on Halloween afternoon, and Bourbon Street was already lit! People in costumes, music everywhere, and just that contagious NOLA energy. We got seated upstairs and were greeted by our server and the nicest manager. I'm pretty sure it was obvious we weren't from around here, but they made us feel right at home. That famous Southern hospitality was in full effect -- everyone was so warm and friendly, asking how our trip had been and giving us awesome tips on other places to see and eat. For starters, we ordered the Gator Tail Bites -- half blackened, half fried. The fried part tasted like chicken, while the blackened part leaned more toward fish. I'll be honest, this dish wasn't really for me (so it's not the gator, it's me ), but the rest of my group loved it! Then came the Crawfish Poutine, and wow... this one took the energy out of me in the best way. Perfect blend of spice and flavor -- my Asian self couldn't help but imagine it over garlic rice instead of fries. It was that good. We also tried their Crab Cakes, and oh man -- they did not hold back on the crab. Each bite was packed with real crab meat, smothered in a rich mushroom cream sauce that tied it all together perfectly. Hands down the best crab cake I've ever tasted. For our mains, we had the Oysters Rockefeller and Mambo's Famous Oysters. The Rockefeller came loaded with spinach, bacon, butter, and Parmesan -- do I even need to say more? Chargrilled to perfection with that hint of smokiness, it was absolutely wicked. The Mambo's Oysters were creamy, garlicky, and full of Cajun flavor -- more on the savory and zesty side compared to the salty punch of the Rockefeller. Both were phenomenal. Overall, Mambo's was a total vibe -- great food, friendly service, and a full-on Bourbon Street party happening right outside. Stopped in for dinner the night before heading out for a cruise. It was a Wednesday night so Bourbon St was pretty chill so the restaurant wasn't really crowded. The restaurant was nice and the waiter was very nice and attentive. Walking in the oyster grill master was showcasing his skills which was nice to see and not being done in the back of the house. The food was pretty good. The oysters were absolutely amazing! None of my party eats oysters so I got to enjoy them by myself. I had the gator po-boy and red beans. The po-boy was good, nothing amazing. It was kind of dry to me could've used more sauce due to the filling to bread ratio. They were not stingy with the gator and I'm grateful for that. Them red beans tho! SMACKIN! Those red beans and rice were about the best I've had in a long time. Felt like home cooking. By far the best thing I had at the establishment. My lady had the red fish and veggies. She liked the food but felt the fish could've used a little more seasoning and sauce. The veggies were fresh and cooked well. I stated the fish and had the same opinion. Honestly the red beans are what gave this review an extra star because they were that good! The line was out of the door and the wait was long. We ended up eating somewhere else and going back hours later closer to 12am. There was still a line to wait! We sat at the bar and enjoyed the plugs to charge our phones. They also offer portable chargers for $5. The bathroom was literally disgusting so I had to get in and out! I had the gumbo which was delicious and it was huge for an appetizer. I didn't understand the roll it came with. I would have preferred cornbread. The gator bites were good but maybe fried a little too long. I would recommend this place when they first open maybe the line wouldn't be so long and the restroom would be clean. Googled a place on Bourbon street for a quick bite. The place is festive and it was easy to get into as it was Monday evening. The alligator lights on the ceiling were pretty interesting. We ordered drinks and appetizers, eggplant sticks and bbq shrimp. The bbq shrimp was excellent but the eggplant sticks were not very flavorful. For the main dish we had the new Orleans Sample Platter wirh red beans and rice, etoufee, and gumbo. They all tasted the same and I didn't care for the consistency of the gumbo as it was to thick. I ate it with a fork... I appreciated the ambiance more than the food and the service was excellent. read more

Definitely make sure to make reservations in advance, especially in the evenings or on weekends because it does get crowded. Mambos oysters: MUST GET! So delicious, even my husband ate them and he doesn't like oysters at all! My son is picky and doesn't do much seafood and liked them also! Taste of New Orleans: it's worth a try, especially to get a feel for some of the main New Orleans dishes. The star for me was the crawfish etouffe. The gumbo was good but etouffe really stole the show. Red beans and rice was probably runner up. It was very Smokey but I like that and had a sausage in it which was good too Hurricane: theirs was probably my favorite I had on my trip. It had a cognac in it as well that paired nicely and I'm not really a cognac drinker. This is a touristy place in the middle of Bourbon Street, but it's actually worth going to. read more
