Went here during my trip to New Orleans for Southern Decadence last September--first time in NOLA. Me and two friends split off from the group and were just wandering the French Quarter looking for something that felt authentic but still a little different. Stumbled on Mambo's, checked out the menu outside, and decided to go for it. They've got a solid mix--fried alligator, rice dishes, all that--but the server told us about a special that ended up being the best thing I ate the whole trip. It was this shrimp pasta with either Alfredo or a spicy Cajun sauce, over fried fish (don't even remember what kind, I just know it hit). Only L is I went back on my last day craving it and the special had changed But yeah--big space, good music, great energy, and honestly you can't really go wrong with the food. Definitely worth it.

My wife found this restaurant and sent me the location, so I walked 18 minutes from my hotel excited to try it out... only to leave completely disappointed. I ordered the fish special they were advertising, and horrible would be an understatement. The food came out looking like something that never should've left the kitchen. As a server, there's no way I would've brought a plate looking like that to a customer. The fish was supposed to be fried, but somehow came out soggy and greasy like it had been badly deep fried, and not even fried correctly. I honestly don't know how they thought that was acceptable to serve. I told the server, "Man, this food is soggy. Did they deep fry this?" He immediately said, "I'll take it back," with no hesitation. That alone told me he already knew the food wasn't right. I'm a chef, and there's absolutely no excuse for serving fish like that. The mashed potatoes came out cold, and when the fish came back the second time, it still wasn't right. At that point, I just paid and left. I still tipped $2 because I hate not tipping. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Don't waste your hard-earned money on bad food and disappointment. Big disappointment!!!! Then the server asked, Do you need a carry out box! I need a number to the health department.

My review is a little late, but better late than never! On February 16th, after our jazz cruise, we decided to grab something to eat on Bourbon Street. After walking around and checking out a few menus, we ended up choosing Mambo's. I already knew I wanted Mambo's Famous Oysters, and let me just say... they were out of this world good! My boyfriend ordered the gator tail bites, and he really enjoyed them too. We had previously gone to Fiery Crab, and he said Mambo's gator bites were way better. The vibe was really nice, and what stood out to me was that the manager actually came over to our table, introduced himself, and checked on us. That level of customer service really shows they care about their guests. We didn't make it up to the rooftop this time, but it's definitely on my list for our next visit. I'm also excited to try more items on the menu, everything looks so tasty!

The group meet up here and we started with fried gator tail bites. They were tender with great flavor. I opted for the red beans and rice with crispy chicken and sausage. David our waiter was totally awesome and you could tell he took great pride in what he was doing. Gave the table great recommendation and it was a blessing seeing someone as passionate as he was. The decor was New Orleans and lively great place to eat.

Ok, I'm a little late with this review--I started it and never finished. Shoutout to Yelp for that draft section I just discovered! While strolling down Bourbon Street, we decided to grab dinner and ended up at Mambo's--and I'm so glad we did! It's a multi-level spot, and we dined on the second floor. The vibe was vibrant, unique, and full of that authentic New Orleans energy. I've heard there's a rooftop bar too, but we didn't make it up there this time. Now let's talk about the food--SO good! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and full of that classic New Orleans taste I've really come to love. And the drinks? Definitely doing what they needed to do! The service was excellent from start to finish, which always makes the experience even better. If you're on Bourbon Street, Mambo's is definitely worth a stop. I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in NOLA!

It's worth waiting in the line! Good thing we beat the rush. We were already in when we saw that the line was building up. Thanks to Dominique our server for being quick to get our order. But the food didn't get served right away that's why the fries were kinda not that crispy hot anymore. But it's still okay. Now, the crab cake... wow... love it!!!! It's topped with gravy. I don't know what's in the gravy but my oh my... i was thinking is that the Louisiana way of crab cake.... love it!!! There were 2 crab cakes, enough for sharing. The salad for my hubby came out great too... and paired it , sangria ... perfect day to end your night!

The food was very good at Mambo's! The buffalo chicken poboy was delicious and spicy. The drinks were not strong and too sweet.

My brothers and I was hungry after attending a basketball game. Not many places are open after 10pm. So we decided to try this place out. We really wanted to sit on the roof top but a big group on people came in about 1 min before us and took the whole roof top. We ended up sitting by the window that gives us prime access to what people in the French quarter. The food was average. Nothing spectacular. Not a whole lot of seasoning. The bathrooms floors were also really wet I almost fell. The service was fine.

Stopped by since this place had a diverse menu offering all the NOLA highlights. Our server was awesome and let me try a single oyster since I couldn't decide between the oysters and another item. (1/2 dozen order is minimum). Their charred oyster was AMAZING. the oyster superiority itself it's hard to detect with the way it's prepared (charred) but it's a must try. I also got the fried chicken platter which was HUGE. It was just okay as the fried chicken wasn't super special. I was also very unimpressed with the hush puppies. We got a pasta and that was good. Nice dessert and drinks options too. I'd recommend this place not for a full meal for a little bit of this and that and I could see the rooftop being fun.

Get the Duck Wontons, the Cajun Crawfish Poutine and the Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain entree and you will thank yourself later. This is my favorite meal in New Orleans to date. The Redfish Pontchartrain is set atop a delicious savory crawfish cornbread dressing and the mustard greens that come as the side is the best I've had! The service is top notch, and the atmosphere is a laid back and welcoming tone which is welcomed In such a bustling city.

Hanging out on "The Street" getting some good eats! 6 adults and 7 KIDS ...prayers! kinda small but a rooftop bar. Chef grilling steak in the corner. Loud and busy, Bourbon Street...YEAH. Vibes HIWater's all around. Started with the Chargrilled Oysters. Briny and cheesy. So dang TASTY! Half and half seafood with catfish; shrimp; jalapeño hush puppies; fries and coleslaw. Fish fried; fresh and light...whooo Baby. Everything good ; Spicy straight NOLA. So much food. Fettuccine; spinach dip; The taste of New Orleans. This place has everything. Even Burgers. Portions are great .This place was very good. 100 percent recommend!

From the time that we stepped into the restaurant until the time that we left...Great experience. We were greeted by the friendliest host and immediately seated. Our waitress was really great..she answered our questions about the food and also things to do in New Orleans. The food was really good. I ordered the fries and crawfish ettoufee....amazing. my husband got the trio of gumbo, red beans and rice, and crawfish ettoufee. Everything was great. When in New Orleans this is definitely the spot to visit for lunch or dinner.

    CLASSIC CHEESEBURGER
    Kim B.

We were excited to try our first restaurant in New Orleans. Made reservations for 6 people online for the same day. Upon arriving, we were seated within minutes. Tables were not completely clean but it was ok. The restaurant had a nice vibe with many customers waiting to eat. Our favorite dishes were the fried fish, fried shrimp, and the grilled redfish beurre blanc. The fried fish and shrimp were crunchy on the outside, lots of flavor, and tender on the inside. The grilled fish was tender and savory, just melts in your mouth. The eggplant sticks were soggy, so we didn't like it. The cheeseburger was ok. If you're looking for southern food and you're in the area, give it a try. There are many other eateries that are just as good or better. So many tourists come here because it's in the French Quarter, so be prepared to wait if you don't have reservations.

But I was welcomed in to the bar with one open seat. The staff was very welcoming with a bit of sarcasm, which is probably something that I look forward to everywhere. I asked for recommendations, having looked at the menu and they handed me another special menu of the day stating obviously I hadn't read the whole thing yet. I started with the snapper appetizer and I have Tse with the coconut lime broth. It was absolutely delicious, followed by the crawfish capellini. I was surprised by the amount of crawfish in the dish and the chili flavor, which was absolutely delicious. I have been hearing about the hush puppies for a while so I had to try some, especially because my colleague raved about it at dinner the night before. Lastly, I had the baked drum which was delicious light and flaky. The flavors were incredible. I personally thought that the bread was a little overly grilled and chard, but overall the dishes still pretty good. I cannot say more about the dessert. It's absolutely one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. The sticky carrot cake toffee cake with cream cheese ice cream was just on the next level. I would try to come here if I was in the area every time.
