My husband and I stopped at Mambo's before our flight and made a reservation because we were encouraged to do so. However, when we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated as walk-ins without any issue. Our waiter shared the special, and we both ordered different versions of the Bayou Bliss Redfish. My husband had the fried version with crawfish, while I ordered the grilled version with a crab cake. We substituted the Mambo sauce for the lemon butter sauce on both. The fish itself was seasoned well, and both dishes were flavorful. However, the rice and mustard greens were overcooked and very mushy. The crab cake was just okay. Being from Maryland, I'll admit we're spoiled when it comes to crab cakes, so it's hard to impress us when it comes to that! The biggest disappointment was the drinks. We ordered the Mango Tango and Punch, both priced at $18, and unfortunately they tasted watered down. At that price point, I expected much more flavor. On the positive side, customer service was good and our waiter was pleasant and attentive. Overall, Mambo's wasn't a bad experience, but it also didn't leave us wanting to come back. The food had potential, but the sides and drinks missed the mark for us. Food: 6/10 Service: 8/10 Overall: 6/10 Maybe worth trying once, but there are other New Orleans spots I'd choose .

From the moment we walked in, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and professional, including the staff who seated us. Our waitress was excellent and took great care of us throughout our meal. But I have to give a VERY SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO SHERMAN, the oyster chef on the grill! Listen... we have tried A LOT of oysters while vacationing here in New Orleans, and Sherman's were hands down THE BEST we've had! The flavor, seasoning, grilling, EVERYTHING was on point. You can tell when someone is cooking with experience, passion, and pride in what they do. We had the pleasure of learning that Sherman previously owned his own restaurant and is working his way toward opening another one. Well, Sherman, KEEP GOING! Anyone who gets the opportunity to try his food needs to support this man and his journey, because the talent is definitely there. We will absolutely be rooting for him! I also had the Carnival Pasta, which was creamy, delicious, loaded with seafood, and seasoned perfectly. Every bite was full of flavor without overpowering the seafood. Between the delicious food, excellent waitress, professional staff, and Sherman working his magic on that oyster grill, Mambo's gave us a wonderful New Orleans experience. 10/10 and Sherman, when that restaurant opens, we want to know about it! Keep going, Sherman! Your food speaks for itself, and we're rooting for your comeback!
Wow! What a surprise this find was. I had an entire list of restaurants I intended on trying while visiting Nola. This was not on it. Since arriving early at my hotel, I was hoping to grab a quick bite somewhere close by and Mambo's had good reviews on Yelp. Touting the only rooftop bar on Bourbon Street, the view did not disappoint. We were seated outside and Deshanna was our server. The shrimp po'boy was delicious. I just knew I could not finish it all, but it was so tasty that I couldn't help myself. Quickly my plate was empty. It was hot and sunny midday, so Deshanna brought out a huge fan without us even asking. The service was exceptional, the view really cool and the meal delicious.
Got seat fairly quickly, waiter came right over with water and took our drink order. He was very energetic and a pleasure to work with. I ordered the Bucktown Fried Seafood Platter, wife ordered the Buffalo chicken wing po boy. The restaurant was a little loud but I guess when you're right on Bourbon Street that is to be expected. Rustic decor and well lit. Meals came out fairly quickly. The Bucktown platter was excellent. The oysters were deep fried just a little bit longer than I would have liked but overall it was very good. I would have it again. My wife enjoyed her Buffalo Wing Po boy but she said that it was a little bit too hot sauce wise. If you don't mind the noise while eating, I highly recommend this place. The best part of our meal, was the energy and excitement that our waiter Mike added to it.
Place was decent! It was my first time trying the crawfish étouffée, and it was pretty good. My wife had the Gulf shrimp and really enjoyed it. Service was excellent--shoutout to Michael, who was super honest and completely on top of his game

It was very cloudy, but that didn't ruin it for us. Because the humidity in New Orleans is ridiculously crazy. The overcast made it very comfortable for us. Our waiter was very nice and very patient. Since we were so undecided on what we wanted to eat. I ordered a cocktail, The Cadillac Margarita, and the chicken and sausage gumbo, and it was delicious! Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well. If you're looking for a laid-back atmosphere with great food and great service, I highly recommend Mambo's!

We ate until our pants almost busted, so that was signs of a great meal. Chill vibes in this place. No frills, just there for good food!!!
First time here from Las Vegas.. in our 3 day trip, we have visited Mambo's 4-5 times. The hospitality was incredible, our bartender was 10/10.. if you come in please ask for T.K..!! T.K was outstanding.. Greg was very nice and offered us so much history even though we weren't in his section. T.K!!

Good place to eat but because we had a party of over 20 I think our server was overwhelmed. Management did not even off an apology for the inconvenience.

The group meet up here and we started with fried gator tail bites. They were tender with great flavor. I opted for the red beans and rice with crispy chicken and sausage. David our waiter was totally awesome and you could tell he took great pride in what he was doing. Gave the table great recommendation and it was a blessing seeing someone as passionate as he was. The decor was New Orleans and lively great place to eat.

A great meal on Bourbon street! We walked in and were instantly greeted with a smile and great cajun vibes. Our waitress Taniysa was fantastic and recommended we start with the black and gold gator bites - half blackened and half fried. Although they were a touch salty, and gator might not be my favorite, I'm glad we got to try these here. Then the entree was a special pasta dish served with blackened redfish and barbecue shrimp. This was a heaping portion and absolutely loaded with creole flavor. The rest of the menu looked amazing as well, but I'm glad we stumbled in here and if you don't know what to get, just ask Taniysa! read more
Went here during my trip to New Orleans for Southern Decadence last September--first time in NOLA. Me and two friends split off from the group and were just wandering the French Quarter looking for something that felt authentic but still a little different. Stumbled on Mambo's, checked out the menu outside, and decided to go for it. They've got a solid mix--fried alligator, rice dishes, all that--but the server told us about a special that ended up being the best thing I ate the whole trip. It was this shrimp pasta with either Alfredo or a spicy Cajun sauce, over fried fish (don't even remember what kind, I just know it hit). Only L is I went back on my last day craving it and the special had changed But yeah--big space, good music, great energy, and honestly you can't really go wrong with the food. After hearing the hype, the rumors are true. I'm glad I had a chance to stop in here to eat. The service was friendly and the waitress was super friendly and nice. My review is a little late, but better late than never! On February 16th, after our jazz cruise, we decided to grab something to eat on Bourbon Street. After walking around and checking out a few menus, we ended up choosing Mambo's. I already knew I wanted Mambo's Famous Oysters, and let me just say... they were out of this world good! My boyfriend ordered the gator tail bites, and he really enjoyed them too. We had previously gone to Fiery Crab, and he said Mambo's gator bites were way better. The vibe was really nice, and what stood out to me was that the manager actually came over to our table, introduced himself, and checked on us. That level of customer service really shows they care about their guests. We didn't make it up to the rooftop this time, but it's definitely on my list for our next visit. Quick to be steated which was nice but i definitely would not go here if you are looking for a out of this world flavor. My friend got the pasta she said it tasted like box pasta with a sauce with little to flavor. I had the fried shrimp it also wasn't satisfy, but I don't like to waste food so I ate it. read more

My brothers and I was hungry after attending a basketball game. Not many places are open after 10pm. So we decided to try this place out. We really wanted to sit on the roof top but a big group on people came in about 1 min before us and took the whole roof top. We ended up sitting by the window that gives us prime access to what people in the French quarter. The food was average. Nothing spectacular. Not a whole lot of seasoning. The bathrooms floors were also really wet I almost fell. The service was fine. read more

Ok, I'm a little late with this review--I started it and never finished. Shoutout to Yelp for that draft section I just discovered! While strolling down Bourbon Street, we decided to grab dinner and ended up at Mambo's--and I'm so glad we did! It's a multi-level spot, and we dined on the second floor. The vibe was vibrant, unique, and full of that authentic New Orleans energy. I've heard there's a rooftop bar too, but we didn't make it up there this time. Now let's talk about the food--SO good! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and full of that classic New Orleans taste I've really come to love. And the drinks? Definitely doing what they needed to do! The service was excellent from start to finish, which always makes the experience even better. If you're on Bourbon Street, Mambo's is definitely worth a stop. It's worth waiting in the line! Good thing we beat the rush. We were already in when we saw that the line was building up. Thanks to Dominique our server for being quick to get our order. But the food didn't get served right away that's why the fries were kinda not that crispy hot anymore. But it's still okay. Now, the crab cake... wow... love it!!!! It's topped with gravy. I don't know what's in the gravy but my oh my... i was thinking is that the Louisiana way of crab cake.... love it!!! There were 2 crab cakes, enough for sharing. We had the Oysters & they were good, very different from the other 2 places we went to get them. The level of hospitality here is beyond excellent the waitstaff is helpful, understanding, and freaking hilarious. They gave so many suggestions and answered so many questions we had about the area. Stopped by since this place had a diverse menu offering all the NOLA highlights. Our server was awesome and let me try a single oyster since I couldn't decide between the oysters and another item. (1/2 dozen order is minimum). Their charred oyster was AMAZING. the oyster superiority itself it's hard to detect with the way it's prepared (charred) but it's a must try. I also got the fried chicken platter which was HUGE. It was just okay as the fried chicken wasn't super special. I was also very unimpressed with the hush puppies. We got a pasta and that was good. Nice dessert and drinks options too. I'd recommend this place not for a full meal for a little bit of this and that and I could see the rooftop being fun. read more

Get the Duck Wontons, the Cajun Crawfish Poutine and the Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain entree and you will thank yourself later. This is my favorite meal in New Orleans to date. The Redfish Pontchartrain is set atop a delicious savory crawfish cornbread dressing and the mustard greens that come as the side is the best I've had! I've visited this restaurant three times during my stay in New Orleans, and that alone should tell you how much I've enjoyed it! From the moment you walk in, the staff is welcoming, helpful, and genuinely kind. Their hospitality keeps me coming back just as much as the food. I always choose to sit upstairs on the balcony, which offers the perfect combination of great dining and a front-row seat to the energy of Bourbon Street. It's an experience all by itself. Now let's talk about the food. Bayybeeee, those mustard greens are absolutely to die for! They are seasoned perfectly and packed with flavor. The blackened redfish is incredible every single time, and the drinks are always on point. If you're looking for a spot with great food, great service, and a great atmosphere, this is it. I don't wanna waste a lot of time on this one. Because I know I will never go back. Food: 4/10 Service: 7/10 Just another average Place with overly priced food here in New Orleans. I see this is a common trend. But in the real world, you cannot sustain this because customers are just fed up with this crap. ChatGPT says 2500 businesses close every day! Hanging out on "The Street" getting some good eats! 6 adults and 7 KIDS ...prayers! kinda small but a rooftop bar. Chef grilling steak in the corner. Loud and busy, Bourbon Street...YEAH. Fish fried; fresh and light...whooo Baby. Everything good ; Spicy straight NOLA. So much food. Fettuccine; spinach dip; The taste of New Orleans. This place has everything. Even Burgers. Mambo's left the best taste of New Orleans in my mouth! The service was amazing from start to finish. This spot has a great roof top view of the French Quarter, and even though it was pretty chilly, we gladly sacrificed the warmth for the vibes. We felt welcomed the moment we walked in all the way up to the top floor. The atmosphere was a total vibe. I ordered the fried gator tail bites and absolutely loved them! Honestly, I wanted more! They tasted a lot like popcorn chicken, which makes me excited to try the blackened version next time. The gumbo was bomb, and the red beans and crawfish etouffee were packed with flavor. I didn't even finish everything, but somehow it tasted even better the next day. I'd definitely come back here again! Great food, great service, and true NOLA vibes all around. read more

Not sure about NYE special but it's 3 floors and each floor has a bar and bathrooms with elevator and stairs. 3rd floor has a balcony to people watch. My mom is 67 and got around just fine but we also didn't go during a peak time (sept)

I went this year. All age groups and plenty of space between the 2 floors for seats and tables. Bathrooms on all floors. Food was fresh all night and the open bar was all premium. They had the best view of the NYE fireworks! And got all of us…
