I am not much of a southern fried seafood type of person, so their seafood boil platter won me over. We luckily didn't wait to long for a party of 3 . Not much fan fair here, tables lined with Hot N Cajun logos printed on some type of parchment paper on our table. Gloves , bibs , crab claws and wet naps are provided . The menu has no price list, waiter will hand a separate sheet of paper with the most updated market price. We opted for some blue moon beer, lobster boss ( 1 lobster tail, 1/2 lbs of headless shrimp and a cluster of crab legs) of course all seafood combo included corn, potatoes and sausages. Don't like the combo pack definitely can build your own plate. Delicious seafood boil. Coming from California where they serve crawfish year around, I learned that NOLA will not serve frozen crawfish. That's on us, but respect the choice of not serving inferior crawfish. They have multiple sauces and spice levels to tailor to your taste. We always prefer Vietnamese influenced seafood boils with extra sauce and fresh garlic. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, both head on and headless. The lobster, snow crab, and blue crabs were all fresh also. The wings were dry rubbed and I would avoid that. The wait can be long. Restaurant was clean. read more

The calamari was soft but lightly battered to have that crunch. I enjoyed how flavorful the House Cajun Blend seasoning was. But it had a bit too much butter where the seasoning would sink to the bottom when we were halfway done eating. I've been in similar places in other states and wanted to try the authentic seafood boil bag. We went on a Monday evening, so there was plenty of space to sit and service was fast. They offer plenty of options including 'build your combo' as well as full food and bar menu. I really liked what we got (crab legs, lobster tail, black mussels, headless shrimp, corn, sausage and potatoes). Our server Grace was really nice and helpful with menu. I liked that after bringing out boil bag she mixed it one last time and put it out on a plate, it made it so much easier to enjoy and not to worry about sauce getting on arms while trying to see/take out food. We waited approximately 30 minutes before our waiter even came to greet our table, which set a disappointing tone for the entire meal. The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of the way for. It's possible the long wait and lack of attention from the staff affected the overall experience and my enjoyment of the meal. We came here for our first dinner in New Orleans. It was walking distance from our hotel and across from our conference at the Ritz Carlton. We got there around 7PM and there was a long line outside. They separate larger and smaller parties in two separate lines. Some people ditched the line so I think the wait was maybe 45 minutes. Apparently this place became tik tok famous but honestly I have great seafood boil right around my house. I enjoyed myself but nothing wow'ed me. It was a classic boil. Flavors were tasty and food was hot. They ran out of crackers though so I think they should invest more of those for the restaurant. Also, the person who delivered our food didn't take the boil out of the bag for us but we saw another table get that extra service. Our server was ok. Kinda did the bare minimum. Hot N Cajun With no seated tables available when I arrived at Hot'n Cajun Boil House on Iberville Street in New Orleans, I happily accepted a seat at the bar. Behind the bar, Sandy mixed me a Summer Peach (Absolute Vodka, real peach, sweet tea, fresh lemon, $14) and provided the bib and gloves I likely would need if in fact I wanted to enjoy a crawfish boil. Of the dozens of restaurants I've visited in New Orleans, rare is the menu that includes a crawfish boil. Hot'n Cajun has it. I asked the barkeep Sandy B. if it was still crawfish season, and she assured me that it was. So I ordered 3 pounds of boiled crawfish (including potatoes and corn on the cob, $25.99), asked that the seasoning be "medium", and Sandy brought me a Model ($9) with a neat Maker's Mark ($12). The experience was pretty close to what I remember we'd find if invited to a neighbor's crawfish boil. Three pounds sounds like a lot, but the yield is more like half a pound, at most. So I put the gloves and bib on and started in on the crawfish. Nice presentation, and very good, fresh crawfish. read more

For around $120 we got a massive seafood boil consisting of king crab legs, shrimp, mussels, corn, potatoes, hard boiled eggs, andouille sausage... I mean there was so much food. This could've comfortably fed 5 ladies!!! So at that price point, I think it's very reasonable. I mean I'm talking KING CRAB yall. Not Prince krab, KING. The medium spicy was perfect too, not too much heat but just the right amount of flavor. Aside from that, we also got some Cajun fries, which were fire, the service was good, and the table had plenty of napkins for my messy ahh. I had to come here to check off seafood boil for the New Orleans eats bucket list. This is the main most popular spot for seafood boil in the French Quarter. I ate dinner here two times. Both times there was a 10-15 minute wait outside and then the service was pretty fast and friendly once you get seated. The inside is very casual and fast paced, but it's nice how they supply you with the gloves, bibs, and crabmeat pick too. First time here, we tried the premade combo with 1 lb of headless shrimp and snow crab and a separate custom combo of 1/2 lb of shrimp with sausage. Sadly, the combos we got only came with sausage and no potato or corn like the menu said. That was kinda disappointing. We ordered the house Cajun sauce at the hot spice level. While the sauce was pretty flavorful and a bit oily, I would've liked more of a spicy kick. The second time, we got the oysters and headless shrimp combo. The oysters were okay, not very flavorful or salty. Wouldn't really recommend oysters here. The combo was better this time because we got the promised potatoes, corn, and sausage for the make your own conbo. Also, we got it extra hot. We built our own boil which is nice and I like that they include potatoes, corn, and sausage once you buy a pound of seafood. You don't see that in California lol. They also give you a metal plate to pour the contents out onto which makes it easy to share. They also have crab meat pickers if you get crab! If you're a tourist staying in the French quarter area but want a good seafood boil, this is the place to go. Located on the corner of Iberville and Dauphine, is Hot N Cajun. Staff here is friendly, but our server wasn't as attentive as we wanted him to - it took us about 10 mins to put in our order, but likely because they had just opened and it was slow at first. They have baskets of fried food, po-boys, oysters, and platters of pre-set boils or you can you build your own. My cousin and I got the Dungy Dungeness to share, with add-ons of 1lb headless shrimp (comes with .5 lbs), 1lb green mussels, and 1lb king crab legs. We got the hot cajun blend in hot spice level and it was so good. The hot spice wasn't burning me, so I think we could've upped it to extra hot. Our platter was huge and we got stares, but we almost killed all of it - probably bringing home about a pound of shrimp and half a pound of the king crab legs lol. We also got a side of fried soft shell crab and I think it was sprinkled with paprika and came with a side of spicy mayo, but it was very good. I had to go all out since I don't get much of this at home! Looking forward to their opening in the West Bank and more. My husband ordered half a pound of shrimp and a pound of crawfish with the typical boil ingredients (corn, sausage, potatoes) and I got a shrimp po'boy. The po'boy was excellent, definitely one of the better sandwiches we had over Easter weekend.
