I heard good things about Cochon so I decided to make this place my first meal coming into New Orleans! It's described as casual fine dining, and I can see it. Coming on a weekday, it was definitely still busy so I opted for bar seats. I had their fried gator bites, chicken and sausage gumbo, and their Cochon. The gator bites was definitely interesting to me as I've never had that before! I haven't had gumbo in this city, but I felt like it was lighter than I'm used to. The cochon is definitely also a new meal for me too!

This was probably our least favorite of the meals we had while in New Orleans. The gumbo was really salty, alligator mushy and chewy, & boudin flavorless. Service was quick and efficient but otherwise not impressed by Cochon at all. I want to come back to try the next door Cochon Butcher - hoping that is a much better dining experience.

The waiters here are amazing so kind. The food was delicious. We sat outside and the weather and atmosphere was so nice and chill. Mac and cheese was amazing.

A warning right off the bat, this is NOT Cochon Butcher, which has a nearly identical name and is right next door. We made that mistake and luckily it didn't cost us too much because Cochon restaurant is also a great meal. The restaurant feels modern and warm with good service to boot. They fit us in as a walk-in group of 10 coming in less than an hour before close with only about a 5 minute wait to turn a table, which we waited at the bar during. For food we ordered the catfish courtbouillon with popcorn rice and a side of bread (complimentary but we asked for more). Our food came out timely and the ordering experience was seamless as we had a very knowledgeable and patient waiter to help us guide the menu. The catfish "stew" was delicious, brimming with savory Cajun flavors; the rice added a nice texture to round out the dish. Likewise, the bread was delicious as well. They didn't charge us for the extra bread either which was very nice of them to do. Cochon Restaurant is a great gateway into the flavors of NOLA, which is why it's fitting it was our first dinner there. Between friendly service and a nice atmosphere, where attention to detail seems to be present, this is a great dining experience for casual nights and group dinners alike.

Went to Cochon recently for a dinner date with family. I didn't have a reservation because it was a last minute decision to go there. I put our name on the list for an indoor seat but 45 minutes later, we were still seated outside. Our server was friendly and quick, which we appreciated because we were so hungry. We ordered the alligator, oysters (not my fave-lacking flavor), cucumber salad and had bread for appetizers. I had the drum special as my entree and it was delicious! So freaking good.

Had to try this spot with the family on our last day in NOLA based on the Yelp reviews and locals saying this was a good spot. We definitely went out with a BANG! This place was so cute inside in the warehouse district area. We had a party of 8 and didn't have reservations for a Monday. So walk ins are welcomed, but maybe you'll need it for the weekends. I can see this spot getting really busy. Our waiter Ely was absolutely AMAZING. He answered all our questions and requests. Showed that Southern hospitality. We started with Fried Chicken Liver & Fried Boudin. Then ordered the Louisiana Cochon, Catfish Courtbouillon & popcorn rice, Fried Soft-shell Crab Sandwich and with all the side- Mac n Cheese, Braised ham & Collard Greens, & Buttery Grits. Everything we had was delicious and so flavorful. Every bit was absolutely perfect. It's the Southern meets Cajun combination which was absolute comfort food for the soul! I was so happy that my kids and family enjoyed it. We also enjoyed their sister restaurant next door which was more casual. Cochon Butcher (they deserve love too). I wish I had a chance to thank Ely for being so patient with us as we explored the menu. Another waiter filled in for him while he went on break or something, but didn't bother to tell us her name or say she was helping while he was out. She was very rude and I thought I was the only one that felt that way, but everyone even my kids thought she was rude and not very customer oriented. Facial expressions and gestures are everything and that ruined it for me. We didn't even want to order dessert from her. My husband asked her what's on the dessert menu and she rudely responded that she would bring the menu and walked away. As a waiter/waitress and if it's not your first day- shouldn't you know what is on the menu?! Where did that Southern Hospitality go? I went back inside to ask for our waiters name and didn't even bother asking for hers. I wish I would've! Anyways- overall this could have been a 5 star review for me, because guys- the food was phenomenal!

The best sazerac I had in NOLA was here. They also have the butcher which is down the street and the food there is amazing. They have an oyster and bacon sandwich and it's huge. Very good

Location Very close to convention center. Corner of Andrew Higgins and Tchoupitoulas. Parking Street and nearby lots-we walked. Atmosphere Classy New Orleans Seating Outside patio tables, inside tables-great for groups Service Outstanding Menu Everything you want Creole and New Orleans style. We had a late night snack-greens which were so perfectly seasoned-I added nothing-not even routine hot sauce-had it in this tender bowl of deliciousness. The crawfish pie was served with a side of salsa-like relish. It was stuffed full of crawfish!! The empanada like crust was flakey and tender. So good! Of course we had to have the chocolate mousse dessert!-layers of scrumptious smooth chocolate and crunchy pecans! Full bar-I didn't look at the rest of the menu but will share a picture. The pinot noir was terrific! Summary Never disappoints! Love this place AND they were open late! Great food, outstanding atmosphere, best service in NOLA,! Make reservation if earlier in the day.

Randomly dropped in for a work lunch and was pleasantly surprised to discover this spot recently received a Michelin star. A high class approach to some local favorites and it definitely didn't disappoint. Quick service, friendly staff, amazing lunch prices, and a cozy vibe. The oysters portion was crazy but so good! Definitely recommend this.

One of NOLA's best lunch spots! It's the perfect walk from Burbon St. and we tend to go every time we're there. They do reservations so we never wait, and the staff is so quick and responsive. Wood Fired Oysters w Chili Garlic Butter If you're an oyster fan, you NEED to get their Wood Fired Oysters. They melt in your mouth and my mom literally eats the rest of the sauce with her bread. Louisiana Cochon Another must-try here. The pork is so tender and juicy. Last time mine came with pickled peaches and a bed of green beans, but this time it was fried pork skin and a bed of cabbage. Either way, the dish is so balanced. Wood Fired Gulf Fish "Fisherman's Style" I was in a fishy mood and this totally hit the spot. It was light but so flavorful, and the sear was perfect. Catfish Courtbouillon & Popcorn Rice The catfish was sitting in this savory, slightly tart, tomatoey sauce. The rice really added a nice texture to the dish.

Cochon is amazing. We sat at the chefs counter and really enjoyed our time eating and watching the staff prepare the food. The restaurant has an inviting warm feel with an industrial vibe. Our server was fantastic. We changed our order based on his recommendation and I'm glad we did. I can't wait to go back again!

Absolutely delicious, a stellar experience all and all. Friday night no reservation, we were seated at the chef's counter. It was a lovely experience sitting in front of the wood-fire oven and watching the chefs skillfully work. Although the restaurant was filled with chatter it wasn't loud or overbearing. Starting off they offered complimentary sweet rolls with butter. As a tourist here in NOLA I was accustomed to the bread, but the rolls looked tantalizing and the taste matched. A great start to the night. Quickly after, we were offered an amusé bouche: A pecan-crusted hush puppy topped with crawfish. They were delicious, the crunch and the taste of the pecans complimenting the crawfish. Getting into our actual order, we started off with the Wood Fired Oysters. They were absolutely delicious. Melt in your mouth goodness with the perfect amount of acidity to bring it all together. It was so delicious we had to order another platter. The size of the oysters does vary with our second platter holding much larger oysters overall. The fried alligator was also great! It really does taste like chicken like they all say. I was not too big of a fan, but my boyfriend adored the sauce which we likened to a spicy mayo. Entrees came soon after, the Rabbit and Dumplings were tasty. The carrots (of which I'm not typically a fan) were cooked perfectly. While slightly over-salted the rabbit was tender and the dish was well put together. The Louisiana Cochon (the Pork Neck) looked just as mouthwatering as it tasted. Tender and seared well, it left a lasting impression, although perhaps a bit too fatty for my liking. The Thomas Henry Mystic Mango Soda was refreshing. I was expecting it to be too sweet for my palate but it was proven wrong yet again. The pineapple cake was a winner in its own right as well. The brown butter crust warms the soul and the lemon-coconut sorbet paired nicely. Overall this place completely blew me out of the park. My single complaint is that I wish that had refilled my water If I come to NOLA again this is a must visit for me! Once again compliments to the tireless chefs that never comprised the quality of the food as they consistently hammered through order after order.

While visiting the nearby WWII museum a block away, I finally was able to visit Cochon for a meal as it has been on my to do list for a while now. When I walked in on Saturday shortly after noon it was mostly empty but during my visit many other people showed up to eat. It is an attractive restaurant with its light colored wooden tables and chairs that included full bar seating and 5 stools positioned at the open kitchen offering a view of that magic while dining. There are also a few uncovered tables on the sidewalk in front. I ordered the catfish courtbullion entree for $24 and added a side of smothered lima beans for $8 more. Carrington was the waiter and she did a good job during the meal. First to arrive was a bread basket of warm rolls and butter which were of course delicious. Within 15 minutes my meal arrived. The large bowl had a couple of catfish fillets bathed in a red tomato sauce with grilled onion. The sauce was slightly tart and the entree tasted very good (4). Those smothered lima beans had bacon (this is Cochon of course) on them and were perfect with a rich and full body of flavor (5). I enjoyed this meal and would be happy to return. Cochon has such a strong reputation in New Orleans and I can understand why.

    When is happy hour?

We asked that question too and they said every hour is happy but no drink specials. Very upscale place!

    Are there gluten free options?

I believe there are, but best to call ahead and ask.

Hi I was wondering if we can bring our own bottle of wine to this establishment?

No But as wine educators and consultants their wine list has a lot that marries their very intense and assertive food. Not overpriced.

    Is there a dress code?

    Dressy Casual

Is there outdoor seating? Can it be reserved?

I don't remember if they is outdoor seating but you can definitely make reservations.

Do they have a children's menu?

No, there is no kids menu.

    Any good bars near cachon?

There's Mexican and bbq right across the street I believe, which mostly likely have bars. But we love Bakery Bar, about 2-3 blocks away. Great cocktails and cake slices!

Can they accomodate gluten free dietary needs?

They do have gluten-free dishes, but if you are very sensitive, I would ask them about cross-contamination when preparing the dishes.

Never been .I I heard it was good?

    Don't miss it

Is this a good place for a birthday dinner and large groups?

Yes! Call ahead. They have some sections towards the kitchen that are big tables they can put together. I hope it isn't tomorrow!

Will they take reservations for a large group? Do they have the space for Like two tables of 10?

I am pretty sure they do. The night I was there, there was a bachelor party of about 25 guys split between two tables. So yeah-I don't think they would have a problem with that! But I would definitely call to make a reservation and let them know… Read more

Is the restaurant open on Easter Sunday?

Is this place kid-friendly? Do they have high chairs?

I think it is, I remembered seeing a family of four with children dining right next to us at lunch time, but I did not remember whether the kids were sitting on high chair or not.

Any vegetarian options? Will have three meat eaters with me.

They don't have a straight vegetarian option, but they have a few sides that would suffice. They're also pretty accommodating so I'm sure they could accommodate. If you're really concerned, I'd call ahead of your reservation and request a special… Read more

Of course you can take a child into any establishment. This place is a crowded, upscale, more expensive place with trendy food items than I would normally pick for a child. I… Read more

However, I was going to be hopping on a meeting, so I could not partake, unfortunately. A group got this impressive tower of espresso martini and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks! I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. We were there after jazz fest, and it was extremely crowded so we ordered the bar, took our drinks and found a comfy seat in the lobby where we could chat. We may have seen someone famous while we were there so always keep an eye out. It is a popular spot for people visiting the city.

The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .

The ambiance was absolutely stunning. We arrived at night, and even in the dim lighting, the charm of the space--from the books lining the walls to the velvet chairs and lush animal-print accents--created the perfect Saturday night vibe. It was also quieter than a typical bar, which made it feel refined and intimate; you can actually enjoy a real conversation while soaking in the beauty of the space. The drink menu is short but tasteful, with a wide range of profiles. With an exceptionally skilled bartender (sad I did not catch his name), every cocktail was perfectly balanced and beautifully executed. He was also happy to craft off-menu drinks by request. The host was also warm, funny, and attentive. We didn't get to try the food this time, but we're already looking forward to it on our next visit!

The entrance is nice with an overhead and plants lining the walk down into the lounge. Once you're in you're greeted by a hostess, who was actually a bit snarky and rude when seating us for our reservation (also said by another guest we spoke to). The actual space itself is moody, dimly lit with red accents throughout. It has a polished feel and the environment is incredibly intimate. Our waitress was very nice and made ordering with a party of 10 seamless. For our order we got a banana Negroni and a glass of white wine. The wine was great, crisp and sweet. The Negroni was strong and bold with the banana peeking through the drink with flavor. They also offer a few bites off their menu but we opted not to grab one there. The whole experience was fun and everyone liked their drinks. It's a great place to relax and get some drinks but the experience with the hostess was a bit off-putting. A great option if you're looking for a quiet, more refined cocktail lounge to enjoy a drink in NOLA.
