This restaurant exceeded my expectations. It was so good. I ordered the chicken, which comes on a bed of mashed potatoes with this incredible sauce. I honestly don't even know what the sauce is, but it's so good. The broccolini was great, and the chicken was perfectly crispy. The ambiance was amazing and very different from a regular restaurant. The tables are a little small, but that's because it has a cozy vibe, dim lighting, couches for seating, and low tables. All the tables and chairs are different, which makes it feel really unique. There's also a bar inside, and the whole place just has a very cool, laid-back vibe. Customer service was amazing. I also tried the deviled eggs and highly recommend them. I hadn't noticed that Jolie was directly on a parade route and began to fret when my Uber driver said she would get us as close as possible (1.5 mile walk). I called to let the venue know we would be 10 minutes late for our reservation. I left a message. When we arrived 3:15 the hostess must have seen the slight distress on my face as I began to explain my miscalculation. She smiled gently, saw my reservation in the system and said follow me. I breathed a sigh of relief as I began to take in the atmosphere. It feels like velvet with rich deep colors adorning the walls and furniture. We were sat by a large window facing the street that revelers were setting up for the parade. The window let in enough light to see the menus and eat without disturbing other areas. The bartender and our attendant were great offering suggestions based on our preferences. They did not miss. The food was yummy and I had more drinks than usual. We had a series of appetizers including the deviled eggs which were divine, duck poutine, and parm fries. This is a great spot for an intimate first date or solid relationship. Located on Julia it makes for a great date, visit before exploring the galleries on Julia. It's also good for an outing with friends offering chill vibes and decor. Tried the Bread Service with Chili Butter and Fig Compote, Pesto Orecchiette, and Steak Frites. The fig compote and chili butter went so well together, salty, sweet and spicy. The Pesto sauce was well seasoned and uniquely delicious. However, I did not like the chicken in the pasta, it had a taste almost like the chicken in chicken noodle soup. She took our order and we never saw her again. She didn't even come to check in after our food arrived and therefore couldn't be told our order was wrong. First, the ambiance is very mellow, chic and chill. It is a bit dark but it sets the mood. Perfect for a girls night out or date night. It was perfect! We ordered the escargot, foie gras, potato croquettes and gnocchi. I had never had escargot and was nervous to try but did anyways. It was pretty good, not going to lie. The sauce was so lovely. I found the foie gras too rich but it wasn't bad. The gnocchi and croquettes were delicious. I would definitely stop in again if I ever make it back to New Orleans! I went here for my birthday, and the waitress did get our drinks, but when another friend arrived, she asked how our drinks were and rushed off without asking my friend if she wanted a drink. The bartender said we could order with our server and we explained that she hadn't checked in 30+ minutes; he seemed very annoyed but he did put in our food. Then, we also ordered another drink with him. After this occurred, she did come check in to drop off our food. She was more attentive for a very short period. We asked for the dessert menu and she brought it but then did not return for 20+ minutes. We did wait and order dessert with her. There was no candle or mention of my birthday even though it was in the notes. The host guy was great but this was an awful experience. Our waitress spent a lot of the night talking to the host and to the bar but not to us as her table. Notably, The food delicious; I've been here before. The steak was superb as was the tuna tartare, burger, and chocolate dessert. I'm not sure if our server had too many tables or why this occurred but it was unacceptable. Honest Review: My wife and I are young, full-time students, so we rarely get to go on trips or enjoy a nice meal. For our one-year anniversary, we were excited to celebrate in New Orleans at a place we had seen raved about online and on TikTok. The lighting was warm, the décor was stunning, and the music, while a bit loud for an intimate dinner, was manageable. That was the only part that met our expectations. Our troubles started with the drinks. My wife received her alcoholic drink within minutes. I ordered a non-alcoholic drink and waited. Twenty minutes passed. Our waitress noticed and said she would check on it. Another twenty minutes went by. A new server arrived to take over our table. A few minutes later he told us the bar was out of the drink I had ordered. Forty minutes had passed before I even knew it was unavailable. What followed was almost comical if it hadn't been so frustrating. I tried to order a substitute. Unavailable. Another substitute. Unavailable. A third option. Unavailable. By the fourth try I finally got what seemed like the only remaining non-alcoholic drink. It was okay, but by then all the excitement and joy we had felt walking in was gone. The food was even worse. My wife's holiday pasta was so gross that I took one bite and almost spit it out. My steak frites were extremely tough and completely under-seasoned. I am not even sure it was seasoned at all. My jaw hurt by the end of the meal. The service, while friendly, was inconsistent, and we rarely saw our server over the two hours we were there. In fact, we asked for a dessert menu, and he kindly brought it, but then we never saw him again. Another man, who I think was the manager, stopped by and asked if my wife wanted a box. She declined, and since the dish was barely touched, he asked if she liked it. By this time, we were so disappointed and just wanted to leave that she simply said it was fine. Thankfully, this man seemed to get the vibe that we were ready to go and asked if we wanted the check. We had hoped for a special anniversary night. Instead, we left frustrated, disappointed, and wishing we had chosen a completely different restaurant. It is heartbreaking to have high expectations for a celebration and have them completely crushed especially when it was NOT cheap.
