The art gallery heading into Jack
    Libby V.

Dined here for many years, heading back to when it was the Magnolia Room! Love the murals. The entrance is like an art gallery, and I adore it. No doubt Its a fancy pants place. Another part that lives on from much earlier times is the Mile High Pie...you haven't lived if you haven't tried that! For a nano second it was a John Besh restaurant. That was before he was forced to step back, but I wish he would still be involved now that he's stepped out of the shadows. So dress up, bring your wallet and celebrate a milestone here. Its just that kind of place. Expect extraordinary service!

This place is super fun. The room is just beautiful with art and colors. The menu is varied and the cocktails are . I especially loved the tequila one with coconut. Onto the food - you MUST get the crawfish bread. This is not like the crawfish bread you might pick up at a festival even though those are good. This is based on a Parker house roll and you know I love those - with incredibly delicious cream cheese inside and the crawfish busting out the top. Check out the picture and you will definitely order it. Also, they specialize in house made pasta. Get the lobster one. My friend ordered it and I was coveting it. Another friend got a fish and it was very tasty. We had some nice desserts, too. Max was a very nice server.

Well all the Teedee's were outside! We had a cousin's brunch at this marvelous restaurant and everything including us were top tier ! The ambiance was soooo nice! Our waiter was beyond amazing and made the best mocktail I ever had and it was cute! I had fried catfish with Brussels sprouts! The hollandaise sauce for the fish was amazing with a little kick to it! Baaabbbbyyy, them brussel sprouts with pomegranate were EVERYTHING DO YOU HEAR ME!!!! The chicken and waffles got rave reviews from the cousins too! This is a nice place to dine for date night, girls night out, brunch, or just treating yourself out! Go, you won't be disappointed!

I think it's hard not to love this place. The atmosphere is intimate and yet very welcoming. We had the luxury of being in the room that had their lovely mile high pie posted all over the ceiling and it honestly looks impressive. It's great for friends and groups. The food was yummy and the drinks were even better! They have several cocktail options and it was hard to choose just a couple. They also offer a chambong, which was perfect for our friend's birthday celebration. Our server was great, very chill and accommodating for our friend group. Such an easy place to come back to every time!

JACK ROSE REALLY IMPRESSED ME. I really wish I would've tried this place sooner . The ambiance was absolutely amazing & super romantic. I attended brunch here and was very impressed by the food. Curated very well & tasted amazing. The drinks were very strong but tasted refreshing. Our server was very nice and made the experience a great once .

Located in the Pontchartrain Hotel, Jack Rose is an incredibly special spot. The interior decorations embody the spirit and sparkle of New Orleans. Servers are so kind and welcoming, making your feel cared for and guiding you through the menu. We ordered the Gulf Shrimp Salad with a creamy citrus dressing (I swear I could have eaten this dressing alone), Brussel Sprouts side topped with pomegranate and and Banana Leaf Wrapped Speckled Trout with crab boil butter, red potatoes, and corn. Every dish was gourmet and delicious. We were full, but could not leave without trying the Mile High Pie. It was the most celebratory of desserts - and the dark chocolate, marshmellow topping and peppermint ice cream were as epic as a dessert gets. A must visit in New Orleans.

Went here for a date night on our weekend trip! Everything was really great until it came down to my entree. I am celiac/gluten free and when asking the server for recommendations, she noted the fried chicken was naturally GF and super yummy. I figured why not try it!! Well, after consuming the chicken and potatoes, I became instantly so sick. I think the fryer was not GF / a lot of cross contamination because my stomach instantly hurt and has not felt good in days. Please make sure servers are aware and can help people with allergies because this is my worst nightmare especially on a trip and having to be in an airport the next day. Other than that, WONDERFUL restaurant but just a bummer.

Unfortunately, we made the big mistake of having brunch here. The problems started when our appetizers and main courses all came out at exactly the same time. It got worse when I asked to send my entrée back and bring it when I'm finished my appetizer and they got offended. My wife was cold so I asked them to warm it up and guess what they got offended again. When I finish my gumball, which was OK at best my entrée arrived cold it was the same entrée they had brought out earlier. That is unacceptable. Needless to say, we will never ever be back to dine at Jack Rose again.

The Crisp and the Frothy 400

Dinner at Jack Rose absolutely delivered. Eclectic vibe, good music, dark speak easy-esque feel. First, our server Julia was outstanding. Friendly, knowledgeable, honest, and clearly knew the menu inside and out. Her recommendations were spot on, and she made the whole experience better. Easily one of the highlights of the night. We started with cocktails. The Frothy Four Hundred in particular stood out with mezcal, Licor 43, orchard pear liqueur, agave, lemon, and egg whites. Balanced, aromatic, and not overly sweet. Food-wise, there honestly was not a miss. The pork cheeks were rich and savory, tender with great flavor. The polenta was creamy, the dish was salty in the best way, and everything worked together. The duck and andouille gumbo had just the right amount of heat. Not overly thick, plenty of meat, deeply savory, with a subtle sweetness from the duck. The spice builds but never overpowers. The lamb shank was crispy on the outside, tender inside, lemony, and very well seasoned. The only knock is the bed of black-eyed peas. I would have much preferred this over a risotto. Still tasty, just not my favorite pairing. The fettuccine nero was excellent. Fork-tender scallops, ribbon-like squid ink noodles, and a light cream sauce. It did include mushrooms, which worked here. Noodles were cooked perfectly and the flavor was outstanding. The cracked potatoes were addictive. Calabrian chilies, rosemary, garlic, parsley. Savory, garlicky, subtly spicy, with freshness from the herbs. Supposedly made for two, but one person could absolutely finish them. They are that good. For dessert, we went with the bread pudding. Warm, buttery, comforting. The vanilla bean ice cream on top was still very cold and firm, took some time to melt, but the flavor was solid and worked well once it did. Overall, the food was outstanding across the board. Get a reservation because they were packed on a Friday night. Julia was fantastic, there was not a bad thing on the menu, and we will definitely be back.

The food was pretty good. I wish it was served hot instead of luke warm. The wait to get a table on a Sunday was pretty lengthy. Other than that, the service was pretty decent from the time we ordered until the time the food came out. I would say the vibe is dressy casual.

    Aylin P.

Aesthetically, the place is beautiful, and the service was excellent. It definitely has a touristy vibe as there were lots of dressed-up groups celebrating birthdays and bachelorette parties, which made the atmosphere pretty loud. The food was good, but nothing particularly stood out, especially considering the high prices. I probably wouldn't return, but it's worth noting that the menu changes frequently, so be sure to check their website the day you go!

Do they still require proof of vaccine?

Yes when I went in March, but they don't compare it to an ID and just quickly look.

Are there any gluten free options available? We have a person in our group with celiac. Thank you!

I don't recall items specified as gluten-free but there are items not breaded or without thickeners that may contain wheat, but as a healthcare professional I wouldn't bank on there not being cross-contamination of allergens at some point.

How many servings can you get with the half and full order of the disco punch? So my party will be a party of 6 should I go for half or full?

Hi Robin! The full disco punch serves 8-10 drinks so a party of six could do the full if everyone is looking for more than one serving!

Do you need a reservation to sit in the living room area?

Hi Patricia! Sitting in the living room area is first come, first served to no reservations are needed!

Do you have a kids menu?

God no, please don't bring kids here. Seriously. It's not a kid restaurant.

What are the vegan options or what can be veganized on the menu?

    Yes

    Are they open on Monday?

No it looks like Jack Rose is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open the rest of the days!

Are the chambongs offered at dinner?

    Yep!

Does Jack Rose have romantic rooftop restaurant seating?

Unfortunately it does not; however. the interior of Jack Rose is very eclectic and a bit romantic in style. There is a bar called Hot Tin on a roof nearby that is perfect for pre-dinner cocktails with a spectacular view of the city!

Are there any Vegetarian options here?

We have quite a few vegetarian options. 'Nduja flatbread, fritto misto, satsuma & fennel salad, and our king trumpet mushroom entree to name a few.

My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Supposedly…read morereservations were hard to get, but that is because they allot most of the place for walk-ins, so you don't need to put in the effort that I did to book a time a month in advance. We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. It's a first-come, first-serve situation (at least it was for us at the time). So of course, the carousel bar is the highlight. It's a slow rotating bar rail and it's adorable. Lol. For our first appetizer bar bite we tried the Blue Crab & Corn Beignet which didn't come out as I was expecting. Lol. I'm not mad, I just pictured the big, fluffy things from Cafe Du Monde, but maybe stuffed with goodies! These were more like fritter than I absolutely loved so much I ordered a 2nd plate. Lastly we tried the BBQ Shrimp which was grilled to perfection with a good snap, excellent flavor and good char along with a tangy, cream sauce on top. Value: It's pricey. Food and drinks were decent, but a SMIDGE overpriced, but... they know you're going to pay because you're on vacation, you're a tourist and you wanna be in this novelty bar. Lol. Regardless, I had a blast and you can say you did too whenever you check this place out! In conclusion, I've now been there, done that. Lol. I don't have to do it again, but if you're in the area, check this place out. It's a good time.

Pre parade New Orleans is a zoo. Tourists roam around with frozen grenades like it's a competitive…read moresport, neon sugar and grain alcohol sloshing through the streets. The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .
