Quick service and absolutely amazing food! I was excited to try the collard green sandwich and while it was delicious, the burger was incredible. The vibes were really chill and staff were very friendly.

I read the reviews and heard about Turkey and Wolf for quite a while. And this week was finally my chance to see if it was worth the hype. I read over and over about the Collard Green Melt and I could not understand how greens could go on a sandwich. Well let me tell you, it works and it was well done. First the bread was toasted to perfection and thick enough to handle a potential moist disaster. The cheese and sauces melded together wonderfully. There wasn't much of a line when I went, but I've seen the lines wrap around the building. It was also nice enough to eat on the patio. The inside is a bit tight. The service was nice and I recommend trying it out.

The collard green melt sandwich lived up to the hype. Perfectly toasted and roasted. Just the right about of cheese, slaw and collard greens. Super flavorful without being excessively messy. The cabbage salad was too much of everything. Too big, too spicy, too saucy. All I needed was 3-4 bites.... Unfortunately it was 23-24 bites. The music sounds like hard punk - not my favorite genre but the food and service made up for it. Worth a trip!

Finally made it to Turkey and the Wolf after living here for 13 years.....and yeah, I get the hype now. We ordered the fried bologna sandwich, collard green melt, chicken pot pie hot pocket, and the hog head cheese taco... every single thing hit. The flavors are creative without being over the top, and somehow still feel like the best kind of comfort food. No line when we went, the food came out hella fast, and the staff was super friendly with great recommendations, which honestly made the experience even better. Definitely one of those spots that lives up to the buzz. I'll absolutely be back.

You can find Turkey and the Wolf at 739 Jackson Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130 - this was a short walk from where I was staying on St Charles and on the way to the breweries along the Mississippi to the south (I ended up going to Abita and Urban South). My client meeting got cancelled my first day in New Orleans so I decided to do a bit of exploring and thought I'd walk down to Abita and Urban South near the river. Checking out Yelp there were some interesting reviews for this restaurant and it was basically on my way, so this was my first stop. The building is somewhat nondescript - it looks to have been at one point a service station occupying a corner lot. There appears to be some on street parking. Besides the line outside to the door, I observe that most visitors walked up or were dropped off by ride shares. I arrived just before prime lunch time on a Monday - It took about 20 minutes for me to get through the short line outside the door - there were 10 people in line as I was approaching and it got down to 6 by the time I got in line. Once inside the line continues to the counter - around another 10 minutes. Inside all the tables were occupied, most outside were available to after ordering I went there to sit and enjoy the nice day. The menu is pretty simple, with 5 sandwiches and 5 Not sandwiches options. I went with their signature dish, the fried bologna sandwich, with an order of crinkle cut fries. I made the mistake of not grabbing napkins and they don't bring them to the table so make sure you grab some along with any utensils you may need (and ketchup if that's your preference). I also ordered a Diet Coke (canned). The food took about 20 minutes. Fried bologna - $13.99 - leighann's bologna via's mom's hot mustard, potato chips, shrettuce, mayo, and American cheese on big toast. Crinkle cut fries - $3.99 In all I liked the Fried Bologna but thought it a bit too wet - there's something like a slaw made up by the hot mustard, shrettuce and mayo that had things swimming a bit more than I like. The chips gave the sandwich some much needed texture. The sandwich is also incredibly greasy - I attempted a go without a napkin then a couple of bites into realized that I erred - went in with greasy hands to pick up napkins. The fries weren't anything to write home about - I ended up leaving a few - this meal is very filling. For fast casual this place is about what you would expect - maybe a little attitude but that's typical of a trendy spot like this. I tipped 20% which is my go-to amount (keep your staff happy).

This sandwich spot is worth going out of your way and waiting in however long the line is to try (I waited about 45 minutes during lunchtime on a weekend). Despite the line, I was easily able to secure a table inside. The interior is full of fun and quirky decor. Wherever you look something unique will catch your eye. The collard green melt was a life changing sandwich. It felt comforting and nostalgic, while being the only collard green sandwich I've ever had. It's tangy from the cherry pepper dressing, creamy from the cheese, and bright from the slaw. Overall extremely flavorful and unique. The fried bologna sandwich was also outstanding and quite large. The textural components couldn't have been better from the soft bread, crunchy chips, and crispy fried bologna. I loved the mustard sauce on it, as it brought the whole sandwich together. Please go here!

With a line out of the door early on, kind staff, and delicious food- no wonder this place has been recognized by Michelin food-guide! I ordered the Cabbage Salad and my husband the Collard Greens Melt- both incredible and would definitely order again! Plus, their pickle princess drink is perfect for a salty treat! Overall, a must-go for lunch. A little off the beaten path, but 100% worth it. Now we wan to buy the cookbook!

Turkey and the Wolf - 5 Amazing vegetarian options. I liked their patty melt a lot. It was rich, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. My partner liked their fried "chicken" sandwich better. It had a great crunch and good sauce. Both were delicious though and didn't feel like an afterthought vegetarian option. Definitely worth the stop if you're looking for creative sandwiches with good vegetarian choices. I would come back to try more things on the menu.

Turkey and the Wolf are known for their unique sandwiches but this restaurant also believes in supporting local businesses. They are partnering with The Butter Pit a Viet-Cajun crawfish pop up and let me tell you this crawfish is DELICIOUS!! Seasoned to perfection with the right amount of heat (spice) served with garlic mushrooms corn and potatoes. The set up is casual outside dining with cool funky vibes.

Best sandwich in the country," they said and at this point, we had heard enough hype that we had to check it out for ourselves. There was a long line out the door, and it was drizzling, which didn't help. The line however moved quickly and the weather held up just enough for us to get through it without too much trouble. The setup is café-style: you order at the counter, get a number, and then hunt for a table while waiting for your food. Since the place is almost always packed, it does make you wonder what happens if you don't manage to grab a seat--these are not small sandwiches you can casually eat standing up.Once we managed to get a table, the food arrived quickly. We ordered the bologna sandwich and a salad--portion sizes are massive, so come hungry. And to be fair, the sandwich absolutely lived up to the hype. Bold, slightly eccentric flavors with a nostalgic edge--it's easily one of the best sandwiches I've had. One thing I didn't appreciate was the automatic gratuity plus a tipping screen at checkout. When you're rushed and have a line behind you, it's easy to miss ,until you realize later you've tipped close to 40%, which felt excessive given the format.Service is minimal (as expected in a self-serve setup), which makes the tipping expectation feel even more out of sync. Overall: incredible food, but the experience and pricing mechanics take away from it a bit.

Great spot for a quick lunch (well quick if there isn't a line). I got there about 40 minutes after they opened and a line was already formed. Line moves fairly quick and I had no problem getting a seat inside. I really enjoyed the collard green melt. The space is super cool and gives back to the community.

This place definitely lived up to the hype. The line wasn't too bad at 11:30, but it was a weekday. The counter service was friendly. The inside is fun. The food comes on old plastic plates from McDonald's, which I thought was fun. The collard green melt was everything I hoped it would be. So delicious. My dad got the fried bologna sandwich, which he loved. My husband didn't want to come because he thought it was too hipster, but at the last minute he joined us. He had the pot pie, and the wedge salad, which he said was the best he ever had. I would eat here all the time if I lived in New Orleans. I will dream about the collard green sandwich until I get to go back.

If I were to chose a sandwich to eat daily, it would be the collard green melt. The flavor is unreal!!! I've never had anything like it. The bologna sandwich was okay in my opinion, bread a bit too thick and I'm not a big horseradish person, but I think a lot of people enjoy it. Will be back next time I visit New Orleans! Of note they do open a little later than posted.

The presentation of the food came was amazing. We ordered the linguine and added meatballs, which was well worth it. We also ordered the shrimp & grits, which included Brussels sprouts. Boy, it was sure nice to get some vegetables in my stomach after eating all that yummy fried food during our stay! All in all, both dishes were delicious. It is a little on the pricey side, but after several days of eating in the touristy area of the French Quarter, this was truly a welcome change. Service was polite and attentive. I always appreciate the staff's efforts by making simply making eye contact and smiling (which they did). Seems trivial but I think those small things says a lot about a business. I would recommend this restaurant even if you are not a guest of the hotel.

The ambiance is amazing, plus velvet, emerald and sapphire tone, glitzy, and feels like a good photo op. The bar and cocktail menu looked expansive. However, I was going to be hopping on a meeting, so I could not partake, unfortunately. A group got this impressive tower of espresso martini and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks! I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. I think this is a fine place if you're looking for a photogenic night out drinking with a group of friends. Could be really cute for brunch!

Words simply cannot express how much I continue to be blown away by the exquisite quality of food,…read morebeverage, service, and uncommon hospitality demonstrated and perfectly executed by this New Orleans establishment. My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!
