I had my first meal in New Orleans here. The space was full of eclectic, pretty art pertaining to New Orleans. There were plenty of chairs and tables. There was a casual, welcoming, as well as comfortable atmosphere to the place. Bacon Praline. Chef's kiss. This was the best bacon I have ever had! It was satisfyingly crispy, absolutely mouthwatering, expertly candied, topped with a generous dusting of praline, giving it an additional sweet taste and adding another layer of deliciousness to it. For my brunch meal, I ordered the Smothered Smoked Pork Chops with potatoes, eggs, and biscuit. The Pork Chops were tender with great smoky flavor, while the accompanying white, savory sauce was tasty and well seasoned with bits of meat. It was just a bit too fatty for me. Potatoes were also yummy, cooked perfectly, and slightly crispy. I requested the eggs to be fried over hard, and it was a bit weird, because the yolk seemed to be mixed in. It was also a little bland. Biscuit was too dry. Overall, this was a nice place to have brunch. Service was solid. The waitress was super friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. First time here, and we came with a very large group. The food and atmosphere delivered that classic New Orleans experience. Unfortunately, while the cuisine hit the mark, some of the service didn't quite match--several servers seemed a bit "salty" and showed signs of stress, which came through in their interactions with our group. This restaurant is obviously a local favorite. There were a ton of people waiting outside and our party of 5 probably waited...45 mins for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Not too bad. The neighbors have signs on their fences saying " we love Elizabeth's too but please don't park here". There was a small parking lot area available across the street. We tried a bunch of different dishes. Pecan waffles, crabby eggs, shrimp and grits, avocado toast, country breakfast, biscuits, praline bacon..it was all delicious. I knocked a star off because our service wasn't that great. She was a really nice and personable person but three of us ordered coffee and she only brought one. Elizabeth's is an iconic location in New Orleans, and has been featured in many videos from professional chefs and tourists alike. This place really deserves a solid 3.85. As a fan of the Bywater neighborhood, I wanted to make sure to get bfast/lunch in the area. We came in in, were seated by a friendly host, and perused through the menu. A bunch of things sounded quite good. -Boudin Balls: pretty good, a littttttle too much breading, but well executed. -Fried green tomatoes: these were darn good, and somehow stayed hot (temp wise) for a while, like, longer than you'd expect something to stay hot. -eggs elizabeth: pretty good, nice amount of ham, hollandaise was above average, eggs poached well, and the bread was good. the home fries need work though as they were too soft and lacked any seasoning. -banana's foster french toast: this was unfortunately not that great, the bread seemed off, old, undone, something... no one at the table could pinpoint it, it went mostly uneaten due to that. -grits: perfectly average, not the best, but nothing to complain about. Off the beaten path and in the Bywater area down right at the river you'll find this quirky little place that has a great reputation in New Orleans Elizabeth's. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong thing which was supposed to be boudin balls topped with a poached egg and crawfish étouffée. Unfortunately the Boudin balls were actually patties and they weren't very good. The Crawfish was not very good at all and the poached eggs were way over poached not runny at all. Thank God, I had a great waitress and she brought me some poached eggs that were perfectly done which I ate with the grits and then she brought me pecan pie and it was one of the best I have ever eaten so don't give up on Elizabeth just don't order the Boudin with Crawfish. read more

Back again for a wonderful breakfast the way staff here is Super very attentive the menus almost the same every time they have about one waffle special I got something new on the menu. You can call the limited, which is just eggs, potatoes and toast, my wife, that avocado toast they were a little light on the avocado but again it was a great breakfast. Thanks. Don't try Elizabeth if you don't know where to have breakfast and then Bywater this is one of the better choices. The art on the wall is always fun. We were lucky that it was just the two of us. Elizabeth's was recommended to me and my family. We had a table of six and were sat rather quickly on a beautiful Sunday morning. We ordered drinks and appetizers and those were good, hot and served quickly. After that it was all downhill. Not sure if it was just a bad day, but after about 45 minutes, the food was served cold and was just okay.The biggest concern was the service. We sat for 45 minutes waiting on entrees and our server never came to the table to check on us. Someone else finally delivered the food. After eating (~20-25 minutes) we waited for another 25 minutes before our server ran over apologizing for not getting back to us sooner. The server brought the bill and of course, we since we had 6 people an automatic 20% was added for gratuity. We paid and left, but the experience was much less than expected and will not be returning. read more

I've only been here once for lunch upstairs and once for dinner downstairs. My first visit was years ago just a few years after they initially opened. I specifically planned this visit with with the decided intent of sampling their "infamous" Elizabeth's Dream Burger, that usually comes topped with lots praline bacon (I don't eat pork bacon so I ordered it without it). My burger came and it was a very large thing and also had plenty of praline bacon on it even though I had specifically requested it without it. I was able to easily remove the offending bacon and fed it to my hungry dining companion who enjoyed it thoroughly. My burger, on the other hand, I found to more than adequate on the size scale but definitely lacked in the flavor scale. It was such a disappointing experience to have my burger dream shattered I've never went back for over a decade. So over the years I did keep hearing good things about their brunch. So eventually decided to make a return visit and sample the burger again as I assumed there would have been some changes. That assumption actually turned out to be accurate and I enjoyed dining at their upstairs bar, which has a great ambiance, and got to have a delicious and juicy burger. Unfortunately the trend of them not doing a good job of following requests continued a I had ordered my burger with no mayo and it was DROWNED in mayo... So Elizabeth's does make some good food but they have a history with me of failing to follow my ordering requests. WARNING: there is one of those horrible and evil speed cameras right next to Elizabeth's!!!! I just got the "good" news in the mail... Greedy Bastards stealing my lunch money again!!! read more

I think i found this spot on YouTube when I was trying to look for places during our trip. They raved about the breakfast burrito and honestly? That was probably my least favorite thing. We probably waited around 15 mins before we got seated. Billy was our server and he was kind of whatever's. I get it tho, they were starting to get busy busy and he was just trying to get people in and out. My boyfriend ordered the shrimps and grits. He thought it tasted like he was eating at someone's home - it was very rustic and flavorful tho he preferred the shrimps and grits we had at a different location a couple days prior. I also ordered the praline bacon for shits and giggles and wowwwwww those babies were candied! Sweet, chewy and crispy. My mouth is watering thinking about them hahah. I'd order these again. We also ordered the banana fosters French toast and this was surprisingly good despite it looking like they smashed some bread up, fried it and slapped some stuff on it lol. I'd order these again too. Ok so my beef with the breakfast burrito actually had more to do with the breakfast sausage they used that day. It had such an awful taste, I had to ask Billy what kind of meat they used because the seasoning in the breakfast sandwich was so overwhelming. I ended up just picking around all the meat but even then it kind of seeped into everything else. I wish I just sent it back tbh. The ambiance inside was very loud in color and eclectic, with a bunch of things and art adorning the walls. Idk maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but idk if I'd intentional go out of my way to return and try something new. Was it the best thing we had during our trip? Definitely not. This place is amazing! A friend who's a local recommended it to us and I couldn't rave about it enough. While we had the hardest time deciding what to order, my husband got the shrimp and grits and said it was the best he's had. As I couldn't decide between sweet or savory, I got both but made the hubs share part of it. The banana fosters French toast with caramel cream cheese - OMG - yum! Stopped by Elizabeth's for breakfast while visiting NOLA for my birthday. The restaurant is tucked away in an area that feels industrial and residential and we passed a really cool art gallery/lot on our drive over. The atmosphere is welcoming and rich with colors. I noticed that most of the art on the walls came from the gallery down the street which was awesome! For brunch we started with the praline bacon and cup of chicken and sausage gumbo. The bacon was perfectly crisp and sweetened and the gumbo was good and really warmed up the body. For mains we ordered the Campfire Steak and Eggs and the Bayou Breakfast. The steak was cold-smoked (a first for me!) and was extremely well cooked medium temp. However the steak was just a little over salted for my taste. The fried catfish strips were crunchy but the potatoes may have been my favorite. Would absolutely return when down in NOLA! read more

The specials board is bomb and the banana foster French toast is rich and amazing...and I'm a glutton for punishment/joy to put the sweet bacon on top of it. This was the best item we tried. Perfectly poached eggs came with a delicious creamy spinach sauce that I could eat all day. The fried oysters and potatoes are flavorful and amazing too. I will always be ordering this when I come here. *Banana Foster French toast ($9 for half order) was also yum! Exactly what you crave when you order this, a sweet soft French toast. Highly recommend this to order on the side of your main dishes. By the way, their half order is huge, so I would not commit to a full order if you're not sharing with others! *Shrimp and Grits ($17) was one of the specials of the day. This was different than what you normally get at other places. It was made with beef broth and tallow, and it was a bit soupier than what I like. I didn't personally love this, but it wasn't bad at all. *Basic Breakfast ($10) was just fine and what you'd expect. We got two eggs, hash browns, a biscuit, but the items are interchangeable (replace biscuit with toast, replace hash browns with grits, etc.) If you're in a mood for a no-frills breakfast, this is for you. Cool spot in bywater if you want to get away from the crowds near Bourbon. We came early enough in the morning around 9, so there wasn't a wait for a 3 person table. Overall service was quick too. Started with some fried chicken liver. The portion was HUGE. Almost a bit too big considering the flavor that chicken liver leaves behind. It's definitely something that you'd want 3 people to share. For the main breakfast I got one of the specials of the day which was fried boudin with a creole sauce with crawfish and hash. The sauce was absolutely delicious and I kept smothering the hash for each additional bite. read more

First come, first serve on weekends! The service here was fantastic. We got a very warm southern like welcome and were seated instantly. Check the chalk board for daily specials, once they are out it'll get erased. Everything we had was tasted awesome and was fresh. The Bloody Mary's were a hit served in custom Mardi-Gras like plastic cups. The main feature on most of the dishes offered was a Poached egg cooked to perfection. I highly recommend you get them. Over the years visiting from the Bay Area I have been to Elizabeth's three times and it seems never written a review. Never had an "average" meal here for breakfast or lunch and this last time took our sister in law here for the first time. She had to order the praline bacon and as usual, it was declared fantastic.
