We were looking for a brunch spot with a little New Orleans flair, and French Toast was exactly what we were hoping for. It's also in a great location, just steps from the French Market, making it the perfect place to take a breakfast break before exploring the city. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich, and if you're ordering it, do yourself a favor and add avocado. It takes the whole sandwich to the next level. My daughter ordered the King Cake French Toast, and it ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the trip. I'm usually not someone who goes for really sweet breakfasts, but this one was absolutely worth it. The cinnamon flavor came through in every bite, and the cream cheese brought everything together perfectly. My husband ordered the spinach and mushroom crêpe with a side of grits, and it was a 10 out of 10. The coffee was excellent too, which is always a bonus when you're starting your day. The service was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely caring. Between the great food, wonderful staff, and perfect location, we had such a nice brunch. We'd happily come back the next time we're in New Orleans.
Cute little restaurant in the French Quarter! There is currently construction surrounding the area, with large chain-link fences making it a bit tricky to find the entrance, but it was well worth the effort. When we walked in, most of the tables were already full. We were greeted by the hostess, and we asked if we could just sit and dine at the bar top. She escorted us to our seats, and we noticed signage indicating that bar seating was managed by the hostess anyway. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and quick to answer all of our questions. As we waited, we couldn't help but notice the enormous plates being delivered to nearby tables, such as the Coconut French Toast and Fried Oyster Toast were absolutely massive! We decided on the Catfish & Shrimp, Chicken & Waffles, and the Aebelskivers (puffer pancakes) with caramel sauce. Everything arrived quickly, hot, and fresh. The cayenne butter paired perfectly with the Chicken & Waffles, and the caramel sauce was the perfect choice for the Aebelskivers! Absolutely delicious! A special thank-you to our hostess, Terry, who was so personable, and shared some fantastic recommendations for other restaurants and places to visit while we were in town. Great food, excellent service, and warm hospitality made this a memorable stop!

Loved this place! We skipped our hotel breakfast buffet and headed over here. I wasn't sure what to get--there were so many good choices!-- and I asked our server what was the most popular (Fried Oysters French Toast and the Catfish and Grits) and what was her favorite (Fried Oysters French Toast). Our table got the Fried Oysters French Toast, a Croque Madame, Coconut Cream Stuffed French Toast, plus Ratatouille and Aebelskivers (w Lemon Curd) as sides. We devoured everything. I loved my Croque Madame but must admit the Aebelskivers and particularly the lemon curd was very, very tasty. We are just visiting but will come here when we return!
A great spot for a delicious breakfast. Get the croque monsieur, you won't regret it. The food is fresh and comes out quick so you can eat and get on with your exciting day.
A true hidden gem! I was not expecting the serving size to be so large, but it was delicious. My friend ordered the fried oyster entree and it was the best surprise of a meal (had oyster, avocado, a sauce, and more). Our server was just as sweet as the food and luckily we were able to sit, order, and eat before catching our flight out of the city. Our party of 4 sat outside which can be a bit of a squeeze on the narrow sidewalk, but we were grateful to not have to wait long for a table.

It was slightly on the too sweet side for me. - Catfish and Grits 5/5 The BEST catfish I've ever had in my whole life. It was perfectly crisp and cooked, flakey inside, good taste. What a great hole in the wall restaraung (due to the surrounding construction, which made it a puzzle to find) A great time to go is now for their Mardi gras French toast. Service was friendly and warm. Happy Mardi Gras!
Made the right pick with this cute spot. Greeted and sat right away! Our server was Keke and she was amazing with her great smile and jamming to the music. Our breakfast was just as good. This might be the best grits I've ever had. So flavorful. The French toast was very tasty as well as the aebelskivers! Highly recommend!

Around 11 on a Sunday we had a 35 minute wait, but they sent a text when our table was ready so we were able to wander around while we waited. The selection of food was unique, they had standard brunch fare with some fun French/New Orleans twists. I got the crepe with gruyere, bacon and onions with a side of the Lyonnaise potatoes. First of all, get the potatoes! They're so delicious and buttery with a wonderful onion flavor. The crepe was also delicious, I really enjoyed the whole breakfast experience. We did sit outside which was a little cramped with the construction but probably nice when there isn't construction!
Visited French Toast on my trip to NOLA July 2025. It was one of my first visits while staying out in New Orleans. It does get very busy on some days but if you're willing to wait the food is worth it , they have outside seating and indoor seating. The waitresses were also very nice and energetic. The atmosphere of the restaurant was busy and loud but in a good way. I would most definitely absolutely come back again on my next visit. My partner ordered the bacon egg and cheese biscuit, he said it was kind of dry so make sure to have a beverage.
Came here December 14th 2024. Last time we were in New Orleans we came here on our last day also but at 10:00 a.m. instead of 8:00 a.m. and there was a huge line waiting at the door. This time we came at 8:00 a.m. and no line. Wife originally $10 French toast which came with four thick half slices of bread covered with powdered sugar with blueberries and strawberries covering the dish and maple syrup on the side .I had the $14.50 coconut French toast which came with a large cube of powdered bread covered with a sweet coconut s syrup. Very filling and not the best thing for keeping my blood sugar in check. Loved it anyway and surprisingly my blood sugar didn't Spike. As we were leaving just before 9:00 on a Saturday the line had already started forming at the door showing just how popular this place is for breakfast in New Orleans.

The French Quarter has no shortage of breakfast spots that feel like they're running a tourist assembly line. French Toast on Decatur Street is the opposite. It's warm and a little loud, and you feel welcome before you sit down. Start with the vibe, because it's half the meal. The kitchen is open, and the cooks work right in front of you. During my visit they were laughing, trading jokes and calling out plates like a crew that likes each other. That energy carries to the table. Service was friendly and unhurried, with no rushing, no attitude and no sense that you were holding up the line. In a neighborhood where a lot of places run on autopilot, that matters. The food backs it up. The French toast comes as a thick, golden block of house-made bread, soaked through and caramelized on the outside. Mine was topped with glazed fruit, toasted nuts and a dusting of powdered sugar, and it held together all the way down. The King Cake version is the one to order. It's a thick slab filled with cinnamon cream cheese and finished with purple, green and gold sugar. It's a New Orleans joke told with real skill, and it tastes like Carnival season whatever the month. Everything here is made in house, from the breads and biscuits to the jams, custards and curds, and you can taste the difference. The savory side of the menu is just as good, and there's a full bar if brunch calls for a drink. The room is cozy, and the brick patio out front is dog-friendly. Prices are fair for the Quarter and the portions are generous. They open at 8 and close at 3, so there's no excuse to miss it. read more

We had crepes & got potatoes as our sides. I also ordered over easy eggs. Everything was tasty. We enjoyed cranberry mimosas while we waited at the bar for our food which didn't take long. It could've been a bit cleaner. I didn't like that the silverware was sitting in a container on the bar area unwrapped. Otherwise the food was good & service was welcoming. read more

Ambiance: Indoor/outdoor seating. Very packed on weekends. Road is currently under construction (3/2026) so not the best scenery if sitting outside. Service: Great! Go inside to see where to sit. Food was served fast. Napkins and utensils are at table. Our waiter was great and friendly. Food: We tried the french toast with berries and the classic breakfast. The french toast was very good! Very large portion, can be split btwn two people. My husband said the grits were his fav part. Drinks: I had the cafe au lait and it was very smooth. We go here every time we are in New Orleans. The crepes are such a unique way to have an omelet! The bacon is perfect and love the grits! We get ebielsivers for the table every time as well and they are the perfect breakfast dessert! The service here is excellent as well. Our waitress (I can't remember her name but she had pink hair) was very attentive and always made sure we were taken care of. I would ask for her again! read more

This place is truly special. I ordered the catfish and grits, and every bite was perfectly seasoned. I'm usually the one reaching for salt and pepper out of habit, but this time, it wasn't necessary. The grits were flavorful on their own, and the catfish was seasoned so well I didn't even think about adding hot sauce. I honestly didn't expect to finish the entire plate... but I absolutely did. That should tell you everything. I meant to take a photo before diving in, but all that was left was a clean plate and if that's not the best compliment, I don't know what is. The staff was warm and welcoming, and you could tell the kitchen team genuinely enjoys what they do. There's something special about food prepared in an environment filled with good energy, it truly felt like a classic New Orleans welcome, made with love. read more
Another solid breakfast spot in the French Quarter. We both got the same thing, the ratatouille omelette, which came with a side and toast. I got bacon for my side, and my husband got the fresh fruit. The ratatouille filling inside the omelette was so good. It was a little plain by itself, but amazing with some Crystal hot sauce which was at every table. I was pleased with my serving of crispy bacon, and the sizable toast came with some strawberry puree. The decor of the restaurant was cute and the vibes casual. I liked it here. read more

Went here on Thursday late morning, very chill, no wait. Staff were friendly and attentive, place was like an old diner but the ingredients and dishes were of higher quality than your typically greasy spoon. They played a smattering of 80's, 90's and 00's and while I got down to some Britney Spears I also jammed out to some louder rock music. I have more eclectic music tastes but not everyone likes that. This ambiance is casual, welcoming but with a slightly more alternative vibe. My server Keke was delightful, fun and attentive. I ended up going with the ham, mushroom and cheese omelette with side of greens. It came with a nice thick piece of buttered toast and some kind of strawberry puree. Affordably-priced for the French Quarter. I recommend! read more

Great place, we found this place on our last trip to New Orleans and keeping going there, what a place. Excellent food everyone there was very nice and pleasant, the host who sat us was so nice she offered my wife a similar shopping bag that she had at home, servers were great, cooks did an amazing job. I'm writing this at home in new jersey in a local diner, shows you how much we miss "French Toast", keep up the good work , will see you soon. read more

The menu has so many great choices, it was hard to decide. I ended up ordering the king cake French toast. Amazing! Very sweet, but the delicious coffee helped wash it down. Hubs had the bacon and gruyere crepes. He ordered a side of bacon thinking the filling was going to be skimpy. He did not need the side of bacon. That crepe was stuffed! Expect very friend staff (thank you Angel!) and the most decadent and delicious stuffed French toast. The coconut cream stuffed French toast $15 is the standout. Each location has its own signature dish. This location specializes in stuffed French toast (ode to the French District). read more

It was our first time in New Orleans and we were looking forward to trying "French Toast" based on the incredible reviews. Our hostess Terry made us feel so welcomed as she handled seating the many groups of folks coming in on a rainy day. Our server Keke was just as amazing and was very welcoming as well. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles, which came with a delicious Cajun butter (10/10 recommend), a side of Lyonnaise Potatoes (amazing) and a good ol cup of OJ. The wait was definitely worth the food and the cozy and welcoming staff was the cherry on top. I'd highly recommend visiting, but just ask that you have patience in being seated considering the location and limited seating. Enjoy! read more

Food was pretty good and filling. Staff were very friendly and service was fairly quick. There is currently construction going on outside so it was hard to get to the actual restaurant and also a little noisy, which is not the restaurants fault. read more

We ate here for breakfast on Thursday 2/19/26 and it was my favorite meal of the trip! I had the coconut cream lemon stuffed French toast with a side of bacon and a delicious Bloody Mary to drink. The French toast was the perfect consistency- not too soggy on the outside, inside was creamy, delicious and the lemon did a great job of cutting into the sweetness. The waitress was so sweet and attentive. We sat at the bar so I got to see all the orders go out and watch the chefs cook, every single thing I saw looked amazing!! They are truly making everything fresh for you, no cutting corners. read more
Dont walk, run to French Toast. This place is so dang good. The service was good and the food is amazing. The only downer was the coffee, it was warm and not the chickory New Orleans coffee you look forward to. The serving size was hearty. We had a bartender (Joshua at Maison Dupuy, who was also amazing and fun) highly recommend this place for breakfast even though he doesn't "do breakfast". He insisted we order a stuffed French toast and make sure to ask for Julie. Julie was so much fun and enjoyable as our server! I got the coconut cream stuffed French toast. It was covered in lemon curb with a brûlée pineapple and candied macadamia nuts. It came with a side of maple syrup but I did not use it. The flavor of the lemon curd and coconut cream was perfection and I did not want to mess that up with syrup. My husband got the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. He said the biscuit was buttery, soft and flaky and the sandwich was overall delicious. I also ordered a cappuccino, husband got an orange juice, both were good. We definitely recommend anyone in the area to walk the distance and eat here. You will not be disappointed! read more

I don't see a way to make reservations. Do they not take them? I see remarks about people waiting an hour to get in......so if a place has lines like that, why don't they take reservations?
Use the waitlist feature. It's on their website. Tells you how long and what number you are in line. You can get on the list and leave you hotel, only waiting a few minutes once you get to the restaurant.
