BBQ Shrimp
Nancy W.

The space itself feels a little soulless for New Orleans, but the food and service more than made up for it. I had the shrimp and grit which were creatively cooked and inspired me to try cooking this dish when I get home. The shrimp were barbecued, creamy Gouda grits were fantastic and it was all atop a smoky spicy gravy and served with bread to sop up the sauce. It was slightly over salted, and I wish they'd had more grits because the sauce was very flavorful, but I still give it 5 stars because it felt like a new take on an old classic. Our server, Zach, was very attentive. The restaurant is in the downtown, so a bit outside the French quarter, but definitely still walkable.

Cereal and milk ... banana pudding donut

I stopped by because I seen an ad in the window for a turkey sausage biscuit and a honey chicken biscuit, and they both looked like really good options, so I figured I'd give them a try. The place is super cute inside with nice decor and plenty of spots to sit down. They have two different lines--one for to-go and one for dine-in. I went to the to-go side since I was taking my food with me, but then I noticed the eggs. They had this little oven behind the register where they were making these folded/frozen looking eggs for the to-go orders. The menu said "scrambled," and I really didn't want a frozen egg on my sandwich. When I mentioned it, the staff was actually great. They explained that the to-go line is meant to be fast for people working downtown, but they were happy to send my order to the main kitchen to get a fresh egg instead. The biscuit and the turkey sausage looked like they might be made in-house. The biscuit was huge--honestly, you can't even pick it up. I had to use the fork and knife they gave me and just eat it piece by piece. The turkey sausage was a miss for me. It was very heavy on herbs--I'm not sure if it was basil, thyme, or oregano, but it was just a flavor I didn't care for in a breakfast sausage. Also, while I was cutting into it, I hit some kind of ligament or gristle in the meat that I couldn't cut through. That kind of turned me off, so I ended up stopping about halfway through... The donuts I got a couple of the creative ones (Cereal & Milk and Banana Pudding) for some family. They looked really good and the family said they enjoyed them! My total came out to $38 for the biscuit, two donuts, two small cups of milk, and a medium iced coffee. The coffee was a bit small--the "medium" looked almost the same size as the small milk. It might just be the typical pricing for the downtown area, but it definitely adds up! Overall, the people were nice and the atmosphere is cool, but the turkey sausage just didn't align with my taste buds. I'd probably go back and try something else next time just to give them another shot! *noticed box says handcrafted*

Bring my little here for a breakfast treat. The Uncle Mike's BLT is one of my faves. Service is always on point. Laid back environment.

I came here last minute for a late breakfast. It wasn't busy but the place was very clean and they were super welcoming. They had a lot of options on the menu and I chose the blueberry lemon pancakes. Light, fluffy and crispy. Very tasty. I got the toppings on the side and the compote was great. For breakfast I definitely recommend. Enjoy.

Great place and kind service! We went with the special (brisket boudin!) and enjoyed the sweet, savory, and tangy dish. Nice easy breakfast and a calm place to start the day.

Cool, atmosphere, great service, and absolutely delicious food! I made reservations the night before on Resy for Sunday brunch. We were seated immediately. I had an iced lavender latte and cinnamon roll pancakes. Very yummy and large portions. I also took a photo of my friend's hot chicken and pancakes. She said it was pretty spicy. Several people at the table shared Brussels sprouts, which they raved about. I got a Sopapilla donut to go. The ice cream case was intriguing but we were headed to a museum so that was a no go to take with.

I had breakfast here while visiting New Orleans and it was amazing. Although there are not a lot of vegan/vegetarian options, they were happy to modify the breakfast burrito for me and I loved it- thank you! The coffee & beignets are also delicious. We had a big group but our server was on top of it and everyone got exactly what they wanted. It's in a great location with natural light and relaxing ambiance.

They may be known for their uniquely flavored donuts but the cinnamon roll is really where it's at. It's truly one of my favorite sweets on the menu. I enjoy the CBD location. A great option for coffee and lunch as well if you're in the downtown/CBD area. Great service. Spacious open dining area with a few outdoor table options. I personally like the bar which gives me an old school diner feel.

BLT

Stopped in for a to-go order cause I had a hankering for the aioli sweet taters. I couldn't decide on a sandwich, though, so the cashier recommended the BLT. Service: 10/10 - The cashier was friendly and helpful, and the team member who brought out my food was just as pleasant. Sweet Taters: 4/10 - I'm not sure why the potatoes were switched from what I had before, but these purple ones were disappointing. They weren't sweet (which defeats the point) and just didn't taste good. BLT: 6/10 - This sandwich didn't work for me. I tried to like it, but the bread, bacon, and toppings just didn't come together. Aside from the great service, this experience was completely different from my last--and not in a good way. Definitely not worth the $20+ I paid.

Buttermilk Pancakes

District All Day was one of our favorite breakfast spots in New Orleans! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and arrived quickly. The buttermilk pancakes were absolutely delicious, light, fluffy, and easily one of the best things we had. We also ordered a sandwich and the biscuit with eggs, and both were fantastic. The biscuit was soft and buttery, and the sandwich was packed with flavor. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was friendly, and it was a great place to start the day. If you're looking for a delicious breakfast or brunch in New Orleans, District All Day is definitely worth a visit. We'd happily come back the next time we're in town!

Barbecue shrimp and grits

This place is starting to be one of my favorites. I love the bread and butter sandwich, not pictured as well as that blackened shrimp Caesar and a quick trick for if they're busy and there's nowhere to sit make sure you order food to go and then you don't have to wait.

B.E.G (bacon, eggs, and grits).

District All Day Delicious lives up to its name! I had an iced latte and the B.E.G. (bacon, eggs, and smoked Gouda grits). The eggs were fried just right as was the thick-cut bacon, and the grits were creamy and cheesy. My only quibble was I thought my latte could have used an extra shot of espresso. This is a great choice if you're in the area.

Nola Benedict was delicious: the beignets and the sauce, chicken and poached egg were perfect. The breakfast burrito was just ok. Lovely space and staff.

If you are in the area, it's well worth a visit, even if the line is ridiculously long. Some things in life are just worth the effort, and this place certainly qualifies. For the uninitiated, a beignet is a French doughnut, deep-fried and dusted with powdered (confectioners') sugar. The result is a treat like none other, especially when paired with a café au lait (coffee with hot milk). Check out Café du Monde. They have dining in it at their space, but they also offer a take-out window which is what we used so that we could take our food to the nearby steps to take things in. The line was lengthy, but moved efficiently. It is cash only, which luckily I was prepared for. The lady taking our order was a tad short in her exchange with us (not sure if the norm and just part of the experience or just a bad day). We got their Beignets ($4.53 - for a bag filled with 3 and a pile of powdered sugar) since that is what they're known for. These are best hot with their crunchy exteriors. There's a good chance most of the sugar will probably be at the bottom of the bag, so be careful if you're wearing a color that would show it easily when spilled on you. We also got a bottle of water ($3.60 - we don't like coffee, but that would be the other thing they're known for), and a praline ($2.73). Some folks swear by this experience. It's good and I recommend it, but not sure it would be a must-do if we were to ever return.

The menu is limited, but its selection is wonderful. While I certainly could've gotten better food in larger portions at half the price elsewhere, the experience made it worth it. I selected the Catfish & Grits ($18), which was the best thing I ate during our stay in New Orleans. The cheese grits were excellent and the catfish was very good, enhanced to one of the best I have ever had by the crawfish etouffee that covered it. I would order this dish 11+ out of 10 times.

The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!
