Fourth Wall attracts the local and business crowds based on the clientele I saw walking inside from both the Gravier Street entrance and the garden patio in the back. If you are looking to avoid Starbucks or French Truck for your coffee fix and want something that is much locally based, Fourth Wall will fit the bill. The cold brew is wicked strong like much stronger than what I order normally at Starbucks. The iced London Fog lattes I discovered are premade, which overall my wife thought was alright, but she liked that they had gluten free blueberry muffins. The chocolate croissant was solid. The service was prompt and friendly. And the decor had a rustic ambiance with the brick walls, dark book shelving and garden patio in the back. The place was busy and all of the people that worked there were extremely friendly. The only thing I'd knock off points for is I had to clear multiple spots myself and I noticed there were flies in the casing where the food was. Before heading on an alligator tour, I wanted to get a coffee and quick breakfast. This was right on the way and had the reputation of being a local favorite, so we decided to give it a try and boy was I not disappointed. The line was 10-12 people deep but to me that just meant it is that good. We ended up waiting around 15 minutes to order but it was worth it. I got a latte and the sausage quiche which was delicious. There are a few tables inside which is so cute and we were able to find a nice cozy spot by the window to enjoy. If it were a warmer day we would have also loved to sit in the court yard. I decided to give this place a shot since I arrived extra early. The spot can be easy to miss so make sure you are paying attention as you get closer! I saw a guy sitting outside with a coffee so that helped identify the cafe! This coffee shop must be a local favorite since the line never got shorter! There was also a boil water advisory when I stopped in so they were unable to make any espresso drinks at the time. I did order the cold brew and the veggie breakfast burrito which were both delicious! Staff were super friendly and remained calm during the surge of folks! I would love to stop by to try their espresso drinks next time! There is seating in the front and back but note that it's limited and does get super busy so keep that in mind! Serendipity is a wonderful thing. On my 19th and 20th visits to New Orleans for Jazz fest in 2025 and 2026, I stayed in the CBD and was wandering around taking photographs when I stopped in front of an old building on a non-descriptive street called Gravier. I couldn't quite figure out what was going on because there was no real signage and there appeared on the ornate old doorways, a theater sign and an arrow pointing to a sign that said Fourth Wall. As I finished taking my picture, a man came out of the doorway who happened to be the owner and he invited me inside. The inside has a number of different and eclectic spaces to get coffee and other drinks, things to eat, an outdoor patio, a relaxing, almost library looking book area, and an event space that all contained interesting, warm, and cozy environments. I had an excellent latte and wandered around to each section of this café/bar. The following year I went looking for this spot but forgot where it was until I again wandered into it. Fourth Wall is truly one of the most beautiful coffee shops I've ever been to. Sadly it was my last stop in New Orleans so I couldn't go more than once. The space is large with ample seating inside and some seating outside. The decor is lovely, as are the friendly staff. They sell local merch as well which was a nice touch. The cafe is kind of hidden so make sure to read the writing on the door/walls to help direct you to the entrance. This cafe is great for studying and there is plenty of space to sit and enjoy your food. There was a bit of a wait before I ordered and there were only two workers working during the time that I was there. I ordered the matcha latte and egg and cheese croissant. I can't remember who recommended me visit this place, and I must have had it saved on my list for a while. I am so glad I stopped by to visit before I left NOLA!!!! This is an incredible space with very nice baristas (who do great latte art), and if I lived closer, I would come here all the time. There's food (pastries like croissants and also quiche) as well as a nice selection of beverages. I got the seasonal matcha latte, which was so good, as well as the veggie quiche (also delicious). There's a great amount of seating available plus indoor and outdoor seating. I loved the diverse furniture and how each room was decorated. It's a great spot to study at as well. This was on my list of places to try for this trip to NOLA. It's a couple blocks outside of the Quarter in the CBD. Very cool vibe and a neat little courtyard out back. There was a line, but we went pretty quick. Good coffee. Overpriced in my opinion. $22 for two iced lattes. Don't think it's any better than places in the quarter that were closer to where we were staying. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back. I get it, I get it, New Orleans isn't just the French Quarter and there's plenty of good food and drinks outside of it, but good coffee is just as enjoyable two blocks from my hotel as it is 10 blocks. And cheaper. And without the puddle of liquid I had to step over that I'm pretty sure was dog pee. But the dog was cute though. read more
