    Mushroom Toast
    Patricia E.

Totally love this place! Small, great location on Royal, dining room faces courtyard, and - when it's not raining, as it was for our visit - you can dine/drink in the courtyard. If you're not watching, you'll miss it. Came recommended by a friend from NY. Cousin and I ordered NA Hibiscus spritzers. Still water was poured by our effusive waitress who, while very sweet, seemed a bit uncomfortable explaining the menu when we asked questions. First day on the job? Not sure. Menu is mostly small plates. We ordered the Sardinha Tin Plate with fresh baked foccacia, pickles, kimchi (not hot) and the most delicious berry spread with a hint of lemon. (I wonder if they sell this...) Sardines were not oily and the foccacia should win an award for flavor. (There were more pieces on the plate than pictured.) We also had the Mushroom Toast, which was good and actually filling. I would definitely recommend ordering it with something else, though, because 4 pieces, even sharing, is a lot of Mushroom Toast. Service was quick and check out is done in the other room of the shop, away from the dining area. There were items for sale near check out if you are interested. Pricing was reasonable though not cheap - around $62 with tax before tip - understandable for the location.

    Little sitting corner.

Given my disappointment at having inadequate coffee at Royal House, let alone the fact they didn't offer any iced coffee with just adding hot coffee and ice, we went up Royal in pursuit of a coffee house. Fortunately, due to my Yelping, I found Petula, which is a hidden coffee and wine bar with a courtyard. The courtyard ambiance was serene and relaxing, with its tranquil fountain. I enjoyed the small, narrow sitting and ordering area that offered a nice array of coffee-based and other refreshing drinks. The staff behind the bar is friendly, and we had our drinks fairly soon after taking our order. While the menu is small, the coffee drinks are solid, such as the cold brew. They also offer a decent wine selection if you're seeking a bottle to share with someone, or to enjoy yourself and stagger down Royal Street thereafter.

This is great for little plates and a drink when you're in the Quarter right on Royal tucked away in a very cute courtyard. The food was soooo tasty!!! The owner was cool. I'd love to come back with some cooler weather!

My fiancé and I went to New Orleans for the weekend and found ourselves going back to Patula's a few times. We loved the food (the bread and the meatballs were our favorites), the wine was delicious, and the service was great. They have a patio hidden off the main road that was beautiful and peaceful. The inside was nice for when I needed to bring out my laptop and get some work done. We would definitely be back!

Lovely little coffee and wine bar situated in a courtyard off Royal St. It's not obvious to find except for a small sign on the sidewalk. Friendly and engaging staff welcome you. The menu is small, but covers what you'd want from a place like this. And the quality, both of drinks and snacks are of high order.

really awesome space, highly recommend the outdoor seating at night when the weather is nice. they have the best cesar salad ever here. wasn't too busy when we went, but would still recommend making reservations just in case!

I noticed their street sign when walking around the French Quarter and that was enough to pique my interest. Funny how the right font can grab your attention. Anyhoo - my daughter and I dined here one night for a light meal. We were seated immediately in a quaint little courtyard. We ordered the meatballs, the gem salad, and the crab cake. I also ordered a mocktail and my daughter enjoyed a glass of wine. Everything was delicious and it was a pretty perfect experience. From the attentive waiter to the wonderful flavors of each dish- I was very impressed. I wished I was in town longer to be able to try their coffee in the morning.

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

This place advertises burlesque shows and "Shibari", however I did not see any of that during my visit. There are security cameras all over the bar so this location can remain sex-positive and safe for guests. After ordering myself a drink, I chose to relax in their bright pink room with the large bean bag and teddy bear. This was my favorite spot for its light-hearted and playful atmosphere, although the room next to it was pretty exciting as well--with its black-and-white paintings of kinky exhibitionists. During my visit, I noticed that there was a collection of leftover glasses from previous guests. Since it was a slow Sunday night, I thought there would've been ample time for an employee to clean up that area beforehand. There was one barista that night, and while she was kind and made excellent cocktails, her voice was really low--making it difficult to hear her over the music. I'm glad the bar was empty, or else I may have not been able to hear her properly. Aside from those minor concerns with cleanliness and communication, I'd still say to give Fetiche Nola a shot if you're looking for a unique place to start off a long night of partying. It was Taco Tuesday and a pop up night by the chef so we did not have the usual dinner menu. At first I was disappointed because I was not necessarily in the mood for Mexican and I had already decided on something from the menu online. We chose shrimp tacos and the brisket melt and decided to split them. We had our child with us so the option for her would be a cheese quesadilla. The food took a bit to come out - close to 40-45 minutes. When the food arrived our child had a veggie quesadilla instead of cheese. We could not wait the same amount of time for the correct order so we said we would feed her later. However the chef made one immediately. I appreciated the care they took with making the correction for us. Our food was fantastic! The tacos had a lot of shrimp and were so flavorful. The shrimp were also smaller so it made it easier to eat while ensuring shrimp in all the bites. I can't stand huge shrimp that fall out resulting in eating tortilla and garnish for the majority of bites. The brisket melt was so so good. My daughter (who can be limited in food repertoire) tried it and loved it. She then decided this was the best restaurant of our trip after those few bites. The ambiance is so cozy and warm. I loved the vibe and decor - almost like being in your Southern aunt's dining room. We will definitely plan to return when we head back to New Orleans to try the original menu or even another pop up if they have one.
