Also, the bread brought to the table like stupidly good haha. It's dark and moody. It feels like in old time steak upscale bistro. Patio is gorgeous if it's nice out definitely request to eat out there. They have a huge dry aging fridge And also super cool it's a butcher shop. You can walk in and buy cuts of meat to make at home. All the servers are absolutely amazing It's in the French Quarter area, not far from Bourbon Street loved 10 out of 10 definitely on the list to go back next time. As New Orleans locals, we've been fortunate to enjoy some incredible restaurants, and Doris Metropolitan absolutely lived up to its reputation. From beginning to end, the food and service were exceptional. Everyone we encountered was warm, personable and professional, and our server, Bobby, was top-notch. Our ribeyes were cooked perfectly, and both the tomato salad and Little Gem salad were standouts--fresh, beautifully composed and full of flavor. The mashed potatoes and truffle fries were incredible, and we somehow managed to save room for two wonderful desserts. It was just an all-around great evening, and we'll definitely be back. One additional note for anyone visiting from out of town: Doris is on a well-lit street, and we felt perfectly comfortable walking to and from the restaurant. read more

The Tomato Celebration was fresh, colorful, and full of flavor. The dry-aged steak was cooked beautifully--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The Brussels sprouts were another favorite: perfectly crispy and a great side to the steak. Of course, we couldn't leave without dessert, so we tried both the Bonaparte and Kadaif Nest. Both were beautifully presented and a perfect ending to an already amazing dinner. I visited for the first time after receiving several positive recommendations from colleagues, so my expectations were quite high. Overall, the experience was average and did not fully meet those expectations. The charcuterie and cheese board, priced at $68, was underwhelming in both portion size and value. It included only six thin slices of cured meat and a small selection of cheeses. Unfortunately, one of the cheeses had an unpleasant flavor that made it inedible for our table. The bread service was a highlight, offering a nice variety of breads and accompaniments. The ribeye was cooked well and enjoyable, but it did not stand out from what I've experienced at other upscale steakhouses. The five-cheese couscous was the biggest disappointment, as it lacked the rich, flavorful profile its description suggested. I'll admit Doris Metropolitan was not on my list of places to try in New Orleans, but now that I've been there I can't stop talking about it! My good friends and I went here for a Holiday Meal and reservations were a must have as they were super popular! We were sat outside in their patio area, where it was quite spacious. They were careful to not overfill the tables so everyone can have the best experience. Our waitress was absolutely fabulous with so much personality and knowledge. She quite literally knew everything about the menu, how everything was prepared, and could accommodate all your requests! Top notch for sure! Then there was the food! We got a couple of appetizers to start, the Eggplant and the Tuna Tartare. Both were very shareable and combined with the complimentary bread were perfect! At that point we were already getting full but went forward with the main courses anyways! I got the Hangar Steak with Mushroom Ragu, Medium well. And for someone who doesn't eat a lot of meat, I was very impressed by the flavors! For sides we got the brussel sprouts and truffle fries. The truffle fries did it for me with the perfect crisp texture and good amount of truffle. For dessert, we went with the Tiramisu. Now that was an experience! Other places have their Banana Foster, Doris Metropolitan has their Tiramisu! My wife loved her steak! I am probably wrong about this, but I kinda think steak is a guy thing. Let me at least say it is in my house. I like steak, my wife likes me, we go eat steak at restaurants. When we go my wife will typically not order steak. This night however, was different. I was nervous. She ordered the classified cut. What is it? Well, I could tell you, but then I would have to, well you know. I ordered the dry aged bone in strip my usual. Here is the thing, when the food came, and I watched as she took her first bite with bated breath, she looked over and said "well it's about time I got a really good steak."Holy crap! Mikey likes it. Wow, was she right. My steak was good, hers was great. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. I have noticed at these nicer steak restaurants you might want to order your temp one level more done, especially, if you don't like steaks on the more red side. We do like ours a bit more red so we are usually happy with the temp. We also ordered a dessert called a Bonaparte that was delicious. It was a kinda like a napoleon. It was phyllo dough, a whipped cream interior that was very tasty and had a raspberry sauce. We didn't know this but when you sit down they bring a bread plate and fancy butters. We especially liked the onion bread with za'atar butter, but all of them were good and there is a lot of it. We sat in the courtyard, and it was hot that day, but we were comfortable. I will say the music was a bit loud, and our waiter offered to turn it down because he and us were having trouble hearing each other. He did turn it down, that lasted about 5 minutes but then someone set it back to stun. A minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things. That brings us to our waiter. What a fine fellow. He was super accommodating. He was very down to earth and even though this place was on the higher end of places to eat he was never snooty or uptight. I mean this is the French quarter after all in the big easy. Everyone relax and let it flow. What a great night. My wife finally ate a steak she enjoyed. Visited Doris Metropolitan in New Orleans for a celebratory dinner, and the experience delivered. We started with the octopus appetizer, which was one of the better starters of the night. Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. I stopped in for dinner at Doris Metro last night with a friend and we ate at the bar as they didn't have tables open. When you walk in there is a glass case to your left showing meat in storage and to the right at the end of the bar is a butcher case for displaying cut steaks. The restaurant has a central courtyard that was nice, who doesn't like to eat outside under the stars. The wall that surrounds that courtyard is where they keep wine for the restaurant, which I thought was a nice aesthetic. The service was fine but not all that noteworthy in either way. For my dinner, I ordered a 14 ounce ribeye. They sous vide the steaks there, which is kind of like cheating, but the result was spectacular. Now, if you haven't read in one of my other reviews before, I am extremely picky about steak. I make a mean steak, and I'm disappointed at restaurants that cannot make a steak as good or better than I can. Doris did not disappoint! She whipped out a steak that is one of the best I've ever eaten. I need to note that the truffle fries were also spectacular, the carrots were very good. And a special note about the bread. I usually do not eat much bread at restaurants as I want my calories to be packed with flavor. Once again, Doris did not disappoint. We had an amazing time here! Came for a nice dinner during our friend's bachelorette trip. This place is pricey but worth it - you get what you pay for. The entire space is beautiful - I love that you can see the dry aged meats when you walk in. We were seated in the courtyard, which was lovely. The service was top tier. Our server Bobby was phenomenal and gave us some treats on the house to celebrate our friend. He let us take our time but we never had to look for him. My friend also decided to try a different temperature of steak for the first time and didn't like it -- they didn't hesitate to cook her meat a little more for her. The food and drinks were delicious and fresh. Even the complimentary bread was great! Our cocktails were flavorful with good liquor content - the espresso martini was especially yummy. Believe the hype, this place is the best steakhouse in the city. Followed closely by Chop House and Dickie Brennans. They start you off with a bread trio and a butter trio. The sesame seed bread was probably my least favorite of the 3 but we did inhale all of it, it does not mean it was not good, just less good. That butter was amazing, I liked the garlic butter best. Then there was an olive oil dip on the table as well. This carb and olive oil girl was certainly in heaven with this to start and it was all technically complimentary! For apps we ordered the Carpaccio. This was really the greatest Carpaccio I have ever had. Prior to this, my #1 was at Chop House. This one is so much more than just raw meat. They add an array of amazing flavors that I am still thinking about 2 months later. They had cheese on top, a Parmigiano-Reggiano and then they add balsamic vinegar balls. I was digging around this dish to figure out what it was, I had to ask the waiter. He explained they make the balsamic balls in house and it just adds bursting flavors to the dish. The dish also had baby arugula as well as jalapeno. It didn't really need those last two ingredients but this is something I will have to order the next time I go here. Then for entrees, steaks of course. I got the tenderloin; it comes with bone marrow which it a nice value. I did give it to my hubby since he loves bone marrow more than me. Service was incredible. They have a cute outdoor courtyard like more NOLA restaurants have. It's located in the French Quarter so off-street parking. Not actually sure about the food or ambiance about this place because in retrospect, the attitude of the bartender who "served" us is all we can remember. It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere. read more

In town for the essence festival, my friends insisted that we go to the Doris Metropolitan and I have never heard of it before and I've been to New Orleans more times than I can count. It was amazing evening, the restaurant is laid out and way that feels spacious and almost feels like private dining rooms. The service was phenomenal the owner the weight staff were all attentive and engaged. Our server pointed out the specials answered all of our questions.. I had the spring moon cocktail which was a satisfying combination of citrus, lychee, rose, elderflower, and vodka. This Mediterranean inspired steakhouse is known for its high-quality meats, but you can also get premium seafood and high-end caviar service as well. Two Grey Goose Martini's dry - one with Blue Cheese stuffed olives for me and regular olives for mom. We ordered the Truffle Fries to share, and Jaz asked if we wanted some bread. I was initially going to say no, but I'm so glad I said yes because the bread was amazing! There were three types - Jalapeno Cheddar, Onion, & Sesame Brioche. They were fresh & hot out of the oven and were served with three different butters and a tomato confit with olive oil & balsamic. Each one was delicious, and it was obvious that the bread is baked in house. The truffle fries were also very good, and our martinis were excellent. We entered the restaurant promptly at 5:15 for our reservation and were looking forward to enjoying some steaks. The place was almost empty except for a few tables. Unfortunately, due to their ridiculously bad service, we were out the door within moments. The host took us to a small corner table that was pinned between a wall and another table of people. There were maybe four inches of space between our table and these other random people we didn't know. It left zero room for conversation or privacy. We kindly asked for a different table in the vacuously empty restaurant. The manager refused. We then asked to sit at their also vacuously empty bar. He refused, claiming all the bar seats were also reserved. (Note: They don't even provide a mechanism for reserving bar seats, so I am unsure what he was even talking about. Further, the international bar norm is "first come, first served.") Due to the lack of a proper accommodation, we were forced to leave and go somewhere else. This place must be making money hand over fist if they can so comfortably and callously push $500+ out the door. We'll never be back, and we will advocate for others to avoid them. read more

I did a ton of research so I could take my boyfriend to a special birthday dinner during our visit and, after much deliberation (NOLA is PACKED with amazing dining options!), I decided to make my reservation for Doris Metropolitan. And when I tell you that this was my favorite meal of our entire trip (maybe even so far this year?!) I am NOT playing around! First off, the wine menu is EXTENSIVE. Luckily, they have an in-house somm. to help you decide. We ended up going with a bottle from a little town we visited in Bordeaux, St. Emilion. It was divine. For food, we started off with the beets and the cheese board, both of which were incredible. And the bread basket with the assorted butters was quickly devoured as well. For dinner, we went with the Butcher's Cut and the Tenderloin. The Butcher's Cut came with mushrooms and the Tenderloin came with bone marrow. The steaks were perfectly seasoned, perfectly tender, and perfectly cooked. It was like eating a dream. On top of the food being incredible, our service was impeccable. Our server was so sweet and had the best sense of humor (not stuffy or uppity AT ALL). We ate here last year, and it was excellent. Can't say the same this year,May 2026. I ordered the NY strip cooked medium and some sides. Steak was $75. My order came out and the steak was practically raw. I Sent it back, and the same piece of meat was now charred and burnt on the outside and still raw inside. Just horrible! The service was also terrible. They brought us food we didn't order and our sides didn't show up with our meal. I had the server bring the manager to our table, and I explained to him that this meal was unacceptable and wanted the steak taken off our bill. We got the bill and the steak was not taken off!!! To say the least I was extremely disappointed and a little angry with this experience at this supposed high end steakhouse. Will never eat here again!
