    Lovely courtyard

Charming, Historic French Quarter Creole cottage; James Beard recipient with a lovely courtyard. We came for brunch in a perfect sunny but cool Saturday during Jazzfest. We shared a bowl of their famous roasted garlic soup, which was very good. I had the BBQ shrimp served with purple grits and greens and a wonderful crisp glass of Sancerre. My husband had the mussels in cream sauce which were plump and tasty, but both dishes were quite rich; they sustained us though a full day of Jazzfest with the largest crowd ever on record!

A very quaint ambience serving a spin New Orleans French food. Quail salad was good but not what expected- the quail was fried and still good but not expected. Serve was pleasant. Overall a nice place.

Had the pleasure of visiting Bayona for a team dinner on a work trip to NOLA in early 2024! Definitely one of my favorite meals I had on this trip! We had a substantial group with us so we had a private room which felt a little bit crammed (the ceiling was very low lol) but was intimate. The service was top notch. Staff was extremely attentive, quick, and great with beverage service. I got the shrimp phyllo which was delicious. But the lamb blew my mind! I'm the type of person that hates to hate food so if I don't like a particular dish, I will try it again in another setting to see if I'll change my mind on it since the previous experience could have just been a bad one. I have not been a huge lamb fan but decided to try the lamb here and it was jaw droppingly good. So tender and juicy with no strong gamey flavor which is tough for me. AMAZING! I can say I like lamb now after having it at Bayona!! And to finish it off I had a giant incredible creme brûlée which is my fav dessert! Such an amazing experience and would love to visit again if in NOLA again!

Have eaten here many times - every time I am in New Orleans. It is a special place. Superb original food. The chef owner is Susan Spicer but her team is equally great. Always attentive, professional service. Beautiful setting with a gorgeous garden, weather allowing. The goat cheese toast with a mushroom Madeira sauce is always in the menu and a specialty. The current executive chef has a really vegetable forward menu (still are many meat and fish options) but lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans.

Patio area on a beautiful afternoon.

We've been here many times over the past 20 years. It's a NOLA staple. Quaint and charming space inside and out. Great food and tremendous service. Go to try the Roasted Garlic Soup. Divine.

Why have I waited so long to visit this brilliant restaurant on Dauphine Street? Shame on me--I probably had my best time here in the last several trips to the French Quarter. The place has taken a historic house and transformed its spaces into an intimate yet comfy dining experience. Kudos to the experienced staff for their expertise and discretion. Loved the freshness of the Bayona salad, but my group also liked the bisque. The table was more than satisfied with the entrees from the vegan pierogies to the scallops. For some odd reason I kept on hearing a voice whispering in my ear--double pork chop. Glad I listened. It was a great dish, perhaps the best grilled pork chop I have ever had, with a perfect blackberry and mushroom based sauce. Cooked perfect, it cut like a filet. The collard greens were a yummy, earthy complement. Outstanding! Solid choices of wines by the glass added so much to the meals--appreciate the selection. Parking is tough--take a ride share or taxi

The meal was lovely tonight! The tomato/beet salad with arugula and the most delicious Bleu d'Auvergne was to die for! I selected the fresh fish of the day, the Drum fish was ex elect, perfectly cooked, light and flaky We will be back!

I chose Bayona after seeing on their website that they accommodate vegan diets. I made my reservation through Resy and noted that it was my birthday and that our party included both a vegan and a vegetarian. When we arrived, the atmosphere was elegant and the host was pleasant, which made for a promising start. Unfortunately, the experience declined from there. Our server seemed unaware of the notes on the reservation. I reiterated that it was my birthday and that I was vegan, with another vegetarian in our group. He then offered lobster bisque as a vegan/vegetarian option. When I pointed out that lobster bisque is not vegan, he responded, "That's what she told me." I asked if he could confirm with the chef what plant-based options were available that evening. He seemed flustered (though not rude), which didn't inspire much confidence. While the service itself was attentive, both the plant-based and meat-based entrées ended up being mediocre. Overall, Bayona has a lovely atmosphere and courteous staff, but given the confusion around dietary accommodations--especially after clearly noting them in advance--I wouldn't recommend it for vegans looking for a thoughtful or well-prepared experience.

On a recent trip, Four of us ladies had dinner here based on a friend's recommendation and was in my radar too try something new and support female chefs. The courtyard ambiance was charming as was the staff. The best dish for me was the smoked quail salad. The scallops and duck were nicely presented but just missed the mark in my mind and taste buds. The sweetbreads were good and they accommodated my egg allergy with them so I am thankful for that since I rarely see veal sweetbreads on a menu. It's still probably one of the best choices in the French quarter- for some reason our food came out very very slowly- but we liked the courtyard so much it wasn't an issue to spend some easy time there enjoying it all.

We had a wonderful dinner. The scallops and tenderloin were perfectly cooked and delicious. Steve and Ken were super attentive and made our dining experience very memorable.

We arrived sans reservation, but were whisked straight into the courtyard -- arguably the best seat in the house on a pleasant Louisiana evening. Between the soft night air and the glow of the courtyard, the atmosphere alone deserved applause. The cocktails arrived first and immediately set a dangerously high standard: beautifully crafted, perfectly balanced, and the kind of drinks that make you consider canceling your plans afterward. Fortunately, the food rose to the occasion. The edamame and roasted Brussels sprouts disappeared with alarming speed, and the Amelie Salad was a standout -- generously portioned, fresh, vibrant, and substantial enough to be an entrée or ideal for sharing if you're pretending to be civilized. A special nod to Liz, who elevated the entire experience with spot-on recommendations, warm hospitality, and the rare ability to be both attentive and effortlessly relaxed. In a city famous for memorable dining, this meal still managed to feel special -- equal parts elegant, welcoming, and unmistakably New Orleans.

The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

The Cubano was a fav as well... made so nicely and packed with flavor too. Their Cuban bread was spot-on as well. Service was great! Entering through the tunnel you get the sense that you're stepping into a place you shouldn't really be and Sylvain seems to accentuate that with this secretive environment that feels almost like a cocktail lounge. The service was fantastic with the hostess seating us for our reservation right away and the waiter being incredibly patient and helpful during our dinner. We had someone in our party love the playlist here so much they asked the bartender for it as well. The menu is bold and complex but they were happy to strip it back to basics if needed. It was extremely cold in the restaurant though, so make sure to dress warm, especially in the colder months. We ordered their cast iron cornbread, chicken sandwich (no pickles or hot sauce), and their special of the night which was a pork-veal mix sausage on a milk bread bun and topped with sauerkraut. The cornbread was dry but the flavor was good. The butter they gave with it had cajun spices infused and gave it a nice zip although it was a bit too salty. Their fried chicken sandwich was delicious, light and crispy with salty shoestring fries that hit the mark. Lastly, their house special of the sausage was great. The sausage itself was well seasoned and the bun was soft and sweet. It was a bit salty with the added sauerkraut but the mix of flavors was still delicious. We also ordered a drink, just erotic not kinky, which was delicious. It's a bourbon with blackberry and lemon juice that was strong and refreshing at the same time. Sylvain is a culinary delight surrounded by an area that demands it. The food could be a tick better but it is still very, very good with fantastic service to bolster it. Whether you want a casual dinner or to drink cocktails in the French Quarter, this is a spot that is worth a look and your money, especially if you're with a big party.
