I was surprised by the ratings after having eaten here. We were set up with a reservation by my bosses - we were here on a work trip and it was a group of 6 of us. The Rez was for the patio but once we were sat - quickly realized we'd prefer inside just due to the humidity. They accommodated us no problem. Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and the history of the restaurant, and was super patient with us. We decided to order the shrimp & artichoke dip, crab claws, and FGT for starters. All delicious. I was eating the crab claws non stop. I got the gulf fish for my entree. It was super flavorful with the pico on top. Lastly, I decided on the grasshopper ice cream. Since the restaurant is known for the drink - I decided why not. It was the perfect end to our dinner. I made a reservation at Tujague's before we even landed in New Orleans because this restaurant had originally been on our list of possible wedding venues. We ultimately did not choose it, but we still wanted to experience it for ourselves since the restaurant's name dates back to 1856. Of course, the current location is not the original establishment, but they've definitely kept the historic feel and tradition alive. If you walk past Jackson Square, you're able to see the old location. Enough history talk though--let's get to the food. Once you're seated your greeted and you're given bread to help you make your menu decision decisions We decided to order the table d'hôte menu: * Demi Shrimp Remoulade * Gumbo du Jour * Traditional Brisket Appetizer * Choice of Entrée * Bread Pudding For my entrée, I chose the pork chop. Unfortunately, ever since eating the pork chop at Muriel's Jackson Square, I've developed very high standards. I expected something meatier and juicier, so this one fell a little short for me. I tried two different beverages, and both were very good. One was a Crème de Menthe cocktail, while the other may have been some type of "75" cocktail variation. Our waiter was experienced with the menu, attentive, and definitely a jokester, which made the experience feel welcoming and comfortable. The demi shrimp remoulade surprised me a bit. The overpowering flavor was the dressing, which tasted heavily like horseradish. I enjoy spice, but to me it felt like it didn't quite belong with the dish. Maybe that's how it's traditionally meant to taste, but it would probably be something I'd skip next time. Toward the end of the night, we had a slight issue with the bill, but our server corrected it quickly without any problems. One thing I will say--the bar area looked very inviting and intriguing. The service at Tujague's Restaurant by itself is a great experience. Our waiter was so engaged, telling jokes, and playing the area code game with everyone. He also knew the menu well which helped tremendously with deciding what to try. I ended up getting the Lion's Mane Cakes, a vegetarian dish, which wasn't the most recommended dish, but was exactly what I was looking for. The location of this restaurant is wonderful as well. We had eaten at Tujague's many years ago at their previous location. On this trip, our tour group had our final meal in an upstairs private room from a limited menu. We enjoyed the house salad (nice vinaigrette), fish du jour (red drum) and bread pudding. We only had one server for our group and he was relatively new but did a great job. We chanced into this beautiful little place needing a pit stop on our way to our intended destination. The happy hour menu food and drinks were a convincing reason to stay. And that offering was so superb that we decided to stay for dinner. And we discovered not only was this the second oldest place in the quarter but they INVENTED the grasshopper AND brunch. We had sliders for happy hour which were AMAZING. Then for dinner we had a hangar steak that was stunning good. Two duck breasts - one simply perfect the other incredibly tough - and a lamb shank. Apparently the 2nd oldest spot in New Orleans! Very fun atmosphere outside in the patio. We got a bunch of dishes to share and everything was pretty good! The crab au gratin was a crowd favorite (essentially a cheesy crab dip)! I also loved the free bread & butter. I thought the gumbo was too salty unfortunately. For my main I got the shrimp and grits and it was delicious! It was a large portion and the grits were so cheesy and delicious. The menu is filled with Louisiana Creole options to give diners an understanding of Louisiana cuisine. The veal milanese was fantastic but the dish of the day at my table was Madame Begue's Wedge salad. The truffled okra relish was something none of our foodies had ever tasted and it was amazing. While on vacation in New Orleans, my boyfriend booked this place for our New Year's Eve dinner. Tujaque's is jacked.. up! During our dining experience, I slightly felt bad for our server as the kitchen and management just hung these guys out to dry. I really hate that my first review of 2026 is a negative one but really, if I was a local, I'd be spreading the word. Tourist, don't even waste your time. 160 years is probably too long for this place to be flourishing. And BTW I can't wait to see the chatgpt response to this. If I could call Gordon Ramsey aka the kitchen police, I would. Reservation 6:30pm. Arrived around 6:40pm. Sat a few minutes later. So far so good. Water was given and bread a little while later. The first course did not come out until 7:47pm. I had the fried oysters and my boyfriend had the escargot. Now note, the NYE menu was a pre fixe with 3 choices for appetizer, a salad with sautéed mushrooms on it, a third course with four choices and dessert with 2 choices. So after an hour wait for the first Course, the second Course came out. Mine was on a dirty plate. This was after I already dismissed the lipstick stain on the water glass when we sat. So we're not even washing dishes now? 8:40pm the entrees. For entrée I got the 16oz ribeye and my boyfriend got the lamb leg. Ribeye was okay, a little under but I was hangry. Now this lamb, Mary must've still been singing off tune to it because it was stone cold inside. Like how???? Dessert choices: chocolate lava cake and creme brulee. Now if you really want to have me flip the table, bring me a cold lava cake. Rather than put myself through that, I got the creme brulee. Yeah it's been sitting somewhere, but whatever I just want to leave. I've had a 14 course meal that took 3 hours, but never in my life have I had a 4 course meal that took 3 hours. And it's not like the waiter was even entertaining. He seemed like he just got hired the day before. I had hopes of going to the party at the Virgin Hotels to see the Soul Rebels, but after sitting in a room with 15 other irritated people who all had the same complaint with no manager to be found anywhere, I just wanted to be anywhere with good energy. We linked up with some local friends at Jewel of the South, now that is a place to go! Avoid this trap, ask a local and/or get a reservation at Arnaud's or Brennan's. read more

Came here on New Year's Eve for lunch. I thought the food here was pretty good. I ordered the fish with the green beans, but I thought that the green beans were not cooked enough and the sauce was not too good. I think there was too much alcohol in there . The fish itself was good. The appetizer dish we ordered with the shrimp and artichoke was delicious. Our friends took us here for my birthday and it was disappointing to say the least. The service was horrible. The waiter had to be flagged down when my husband changed his mind about ordering a drink before dinner. He walked by us twice before I had to raise my hand which is not something I would normally do. Our friends both ordered the pork chop it was to come with a tomato sauce, popped rice and frisée salad. Our friends are use to spicy and can handle hot but the sauce wasn't a sauce it was peas and tomatoes so spicy they had to scape it off, the chop was also over seasoned with spice. The frisée salad never appeared. As you can gather really disappointing. I had the hanger steak. It was cooked correctly but it was so tough that I could barely cut it with the knife. Fingerlings we slightly over cooked and spicy as well. My husband had the fish. It was fine but it was to come with a fennel salt which did not happen. They topped the fish with some mixed greens and was wilted by time it came to the table. Over all food Our drinks and Wine was good. Our server had 4 tables with a dedicated person helping him. The server NEVER came back to our table after we had ordered. He never even came to see how our food was, once served. He walked by us 4-5 times and never acknowledged us. Horrible . I went to the front and spoke quietly to the manager and explained the above he asked which table we were at and said he'd take care of it. No raised voices no scene. Worst part of the evening. The manager took the two of them in the back. About 5 min later our server come to the table and had the audacity to ask us how our food was?!! . We were shocked! He acted like he had been checking on us and was surprised by our complaints. Just horrible. They comped our food. But when we received the bill for the drinks and wine they had added a 20% gratuity which we would have never given the server as he was horrible. And don't forget the credit card charge.. There are so many wonderful restaurants in NOLA. This is not one of them, at least not anymore. read more

I loved the way it was presented, but the sauce had a touch too much heat for my taste. Before this meal I hadn't realized there were so many variations of remoulade sauce, and now I know I prefer a creamier version. We were served a loaf of bread with butter while waiting for our meal and that was very good. I made a reservation for brunch here for Sunday, July 13, 2025. It was initially a party of 4 but it ended up being only 3 of us. This restaurant has a new location which is directly across the street from H&M. We were running 15 minutes late but the host was pleasant & they still acknowledged our reservation. Upon entering we walked pass their bar which has a classic varnished wooden frame & counter that sits within dim lighting. We entered the dining area & it was a classic Nola restaurant setting with mirrors on the walls & chandeliers hanging above. Real cute, rustic setting that faces a courtyard. Our waiter's name was Justin . He was very delightful & attentive. He handed us the menus & he gave us some recommendations. The food options were enticing & everything listed was reasonably priced. There was a brunch menu at $19 that includes a starter & an entree. They have bottomless mimosas with your choice of fruit juice for $20. My sister & friend ordered a bowl of gumbo for their starter. I ordered the boudin balls that came with like a pepper jelly sauce. The starters come out & we tried each other's & we agreed that they were delicious. We each ordered the same entree, The Tujague's Breakfast Platter. (2 pieces of sausage, 2 eggs cooked to your liking, grits or potatoes, homemade biscuit with like an apricot spread. The entrees came out and everything was delicious to me. I ate all of mine. The portions are satisfying.....I was full the rest of the day. I enjoyed the biscuit & the delicious spread. They give you your money's worth & you will leave satisfied. The bill for 3 people (3 starters, 3 entrees, 3 bottomless mimosas was $135 including tax. This place has a beautiful restaurant, great service, & delicious food. My company & I voted that we will return to this restaurant. Tourist trap. Did the Easter Brunch and after 1.5 hours the kitchen hadn't managed to send out anything beyond the appetizer course of the pre-fixe menu. The vegan "crab cake" (only one, despite being plural on the menu) was tasty, but so is almost anything when you crisp it up with enough salt. Even so, it was a well composed dish with chickpea purée and remoulade. The asparagus was pretty flavorless but still net neutral. Meanwhile, the Crunchy Kale Salad starter had a disappointing flavor and portion. Despite its being a starter, it was a paltry amount of food that was overly sweet or overly sour depending on which ingredient was heaviest in that bite. The surplus of crunchy Brussels overwhelmed the stingy kale. Ultimately, maybe it's a good thing there wasn't much of it. Unfortunately the service was extremely frenzied and each course took ages to arrive. Our waitress was friendly and helpful but harried and unable to deliver the dishes or the check in a timely manner. I blame the holiday and the chaotic dining room instead of her as an individual, but the overall atmosphere made it tough to enjoy my company. I've eaten here since going with Parents in the 1950's. This is a classic unique but traditional N.O. restaurant/bar. Some items may sound unusual but everything here is extremely good. Like the "boiled beef brisket" which is surprisingly delicious. Do make a reservation. Walk or take a cab, as parking is difficult to impossible. If you must drive, park at Valentino's Place d'Armes on Saint Ann & walk the couple blocks. You can't go wrong at Tujague's. (Their name sounds a lot like "Two Jocks" or "Two Jacks".) This complements the varied styled decor of the place. We were seated upstairs and it was cool to get to quite a bit of the restaurant. The menu for Thanksgiving gave us the option of soup or salad, the soup being gumbo, we both chose that. The salad also had Tabasco pecans I think and I was too scared to try that ha. I ordered the braised short rib, which had a delicious reduction/sauce that was sooooo good. It was my favorite bite of the night, which is saying something because the bread pudding was the best bread pudding I've ever had! We attended a lovely wedding dinner here that was made so special by our lovely waiter, Martine. She was hard-working, attentive, and efficient. She anticipated our needs with a beautiful smile. The food was fine. We had three entrees to choose from a fish of the day almondine, Airline chicken, and hanger steak. The fish's butter sauce was yummy, but the fish tasted like it wasn't basted in it. The haricot beets were crisp and flavorful. They had a good "snap" to them. The chicken was the smallest portion of the three with, what appeared to be, one carrot split lengthwise, half of a mushroom cap sliced lengthwise, and some pearl onions. The flavors were great. The hanger steak divided the table. Some liked it and some loathed it, opting to not eat it. I tasted it and found it flavorful. The favorite bite on that plate was the potato puree. We unanimously agreed that the chicken andouille gumbo was delicious. The upstairs space that they'd reserved was handsome with an ample balcony that was perfect for people-watching and taking in the view of Decatur. A member of the wedding party arrived early to decorate the space and set a memorial place setting at the table for the deceased father of one of the brides. NYE Prix-Fixe Disaster -- Not Worth the Time or Money We booked this restaurant for New Year's Eve and opted for the pre-fixed four-course menu. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were asked to wait at the bar, which was perfectly fine. We ordered a couple of beers, and after about 10-15 minutes, the host led us up to the third floor via elevator. He was friendly, chatty, and polite. Once seated, however, the experience quickly went downhill. It took an unusually long time for our waiter to greet us. While I understand that service norms can differ in New Orleans compared to the Midwest, the delay was still notable. When he finally arrived, he dropped off bread and confirmed we were fine on drinks. After 40 minutes with no food, I politely expressed our concern to our waiter that we still hadn't received our first course. He nodded, but nothing happened. At around 50 minutes, a different waiter noticed that we had been served nothing beyond bread. We then called our host over to explain that we still had not received any food. Each time, the waiters seemed confused and had no answer for why we hadn't been served. Five more minutes passed, and my husband went down to the first-floor host stand to request a manager. The hosts seemed genuinely surprised that we hadn't been served and said a manager would come up--but that it might "take a while." When my husband returned, I again approached our waiter, who was standing by the bar, seemingly confused again. I asked--very directly--why we were receiving no communication about our food. I don't make a scene unless it's absolutely necessary, but at that point, it was. The small, overcrowded room was clearly experiencing issues: some patrons were still waiting, while others were already on later courses. The couple beside us had already begun eating their main, although they couldn't seem stop staring at us for some unknown reason- and the guests on the other side of us received their second course before we got our first. Eventually, a different waiter explained that we were the "last seated" for our time slot--which made little sense, given that we arrived early--and that food was being sent out "as it came out," despite other diners clearly progressing through courses. When our first course finally arrived--over an hour after we were seated--it consisted of three oysters. They may have been decent, but by that point I had to rush through them and barely tasted them as I was just trying to get some food in my empty stomach. The second course was an arugula salad. Mine was extremely dry and lacked dressing, while my husband's was acceptable. Given the circumstances, I didn't feel inclined to ask our waiter for anything further. For the main course, my husband ordered the ribeye. While ribeye is naturally a fatty cut, this was excessive--nearly inedible, undercooked in places, and overwhelmingly just disgusting looking. My shrimp dish was also disappointing. Considering the meal cost nearly $200 before drinks, the quality of the main course was absolutely unacceptable. Dessert was equally underwhelming. My crème brûlée was fine but unremarkable. My husband's tort cake was overly heavy and not worth the price. In total, we spent 2.5 hours being largely ignored, poorly served, and ultimately disappointed. This restaurant was grossly unprepared for a fixed NYE menu--or worse, dishonest about its ability to execute one. I do not recommend this restaurant, especially for prix-fixed or special event meals. It was an exorbitantly expensive experience that came close to ruining our New Year's Eve in New Orleans. Tujaque's since 1856 is the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans. I rolled the dice when choosing Tujague's as a brunch spot for our large group of ten having not received any personal recommendations. They were accommodating, brunch was delicious, and Russell was a Rock Star server! We got the party started with brunch cocktails, Boudin Balls, $14, and New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp, $15. Russell was great to offer bringing carafes of champagne and glasses of orange juice for the bottomless mimosa drinkers to mix their own - some wanted more orange juice in theirs while others wanted more champagne. Great suggestion. The appetizer Boudin Balls were delish and enjoyed by all. A few of the of the Barbecue Shrimp were soft and overcooked, but the flavor and bread dipping sauce were fantastic. Equally enjoyed by all were the entree choices. Everyone was raving at the table. The Gumbo was perfection and my Fried Oyster Wedge, $19, with corneal battered oysters, crumbled blue cheese, applewood Smoked bacon buttermilk dressing, diced cherry tomatoes and red onion was DELISH! I'd loved to have had a plate full of the fried oysters they were so good. Thank you Russell for the superb service! We will return hopefully sooner than later! read more

We had Saturday morning brunch here and it felt like a very first class experience. They have moved locations and while the old location had a certain old world charm about it, I would argue this space is more upscale and inviting. My breakfast was the pain perdu, a magical version of French toast. Basically, if brunch had been a competition among my family, I won. It was amazing service also, wonderful. read more
