Great experience. We visited Tableau for the first time. We sat at the bar and had a a drink ahead of our 5:45 pm dinner reservation. Bartender Derek took care of us. My wife had a canned Mockly mocktail and I had a Woodford Old Fashioned. She enjoyed her mocktail and my Old Fashioned was decent. We were seated near the kitchen. It was really cold in this area. Thankfully, we both brought light jackets with us. The head waiter (young man in a suit) had the aircon adjusted and it did get better. Newell was our server. What a peach. She said she's been at Tableau since they opened in 2013. She took good care of us. My wife ordered the Chicken Tableau dinner. I ordered the Maison Salad and the French Onion Soup. My wife enjoyed her meal. I sampled the crispy chicken thigh portion of her meal and it was quite tasty. My salad was smallish and looked pretty wimpy but the dressing was real nice and I liked the nuts on the salad. The standout for me, by far was the French Onion Soup. It was the second best I've ever had. The onions were well caramelized, the broth was deep with flavor and the cheese great. The portion was quite large as well. Quite a value in my opinion and honestly, paired with the salad was plenty of food for me. A loaf of soft bread with whipped butter was served at the beginning. Miss Jewell did a good job of serving and checking in on us. I will definitely be back to Tableau on our next visit to NOLA. read more

When we walked into the restaurant, the hostess was very icy- I felt judged walking in. The waiter wasn't the nicest either. The steak I ordered, granted it was $54, was very chewy and almost had a gamey taste. All of our dishes were luke-warm and pretty much average. This was a trip for my wife (NOLA virgin) and some close friends of ours. This trip was planned well in advance, and I used the Chase Sapphire Dinner Collection to book and secure the reservation weeks in advance. Soon after the reservation was secured, I received emails stating the dress code policy and its strict adherence. Based on these emails and reviews, we were excited to dress up and have a lovely date night and dinner. Boy was I shocked. Imagine my surprise to walk in and see table after table of young guys in shorts and sneakers (a big no no according to the stated policy) and the table immediately next to us were several rowdy and rambunctious guys with backwards ball caps on their heads. Now, if this was the expectation, I would have no objection. But to plan an evening dressed up for the town, then sit next to frat boys. Not what I was expecting, nor would I have booked. On the rooms and atmosphere: we were immediately taken to the back, upstairs section of the restaurant. Not knowing anything about the layout, I was hesitant to ask about this section. Big mistake. We felt as if we were brushed aside and forgotten about. Exceedingly long times between order and delivery. Missed and mistaken orders seemed to be the normal. While the food was ok... it was just that. Ok. So, my recommendation is to avoid this if you think you will have a romantic, civil evening. My suggestion would be to go to Antoine's. I would like to update/ edit this review. When it comes to food, I will say the quality, presentation, and taste is excellent. Well above average. They offered a selection of fresh bouquet flowers sponsored by Hendrick's Gin, which guests can either create themselves or choose pre-arranged. Call to support businesses affected by the fences in the Quarter-162 days and counting... Poor Tableau was a ghost town yesterday for an 11am seating but that did not deter staff from delivering a wonderful experience! We were fortunate to take in perfect weather in the courtyard protected by shade and soothed by the bubbling fountain nearby. House sparrows flitted across the slab looking for tiny crumbs. Keely was our delightful server, keeping drinks flowing and answering questions to ensure a perfect meal. We began with the platter featuring shrimp salad, blue crab fondue and truffled crab claws. Oh momma. After all that cheese a lighter main seemed a good choice so I ordered the fried oyster salad with a side of poached egg. My egg was overdone so using the yolk for additional dressing didn't come to fruition but the extra protein was delicious anyways. The salad is very lightly dressed so if you love sauce like I do, extra dressing might be the key. Oysters were seasoned and fried perfectly and I ate every single one. Let me start with the good. The customer service, the servers attending the group even were outstanding, knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance was old school New Orleans and antiquated. The food...... yeah duck gumbo that was tasty but served lukewarm. Salads that were warm and not chilled, and BBQ shrimp and grits that tasted more like shrimp coated in vinegary Tabasco sauce. Came here to celebrate my friend. They were having a special of $0.75 French 75s! (Limit 3 per person) They brought out warm French bread with butter. Warm bread is ALWAYS a win. We ordered the crab dip. I wasn't a fan. My friends liked it tho. Not seafoody enough for me. I had a the burger. I ordered it medium. It came out well done and dry. Should have sent it back. This restaurant is right off Jackson Square. Unfortunately, there is construction right around the restaurant at the moment. But, we were able to get in without a problem. We were greeted warmly in the beautiful restaurant. We were seated upstairs on the balcony, overlooking the square. Our server was very outgoing and friendly. We chatted and got our orders in. She brought us warm, fresh bread with butter. We also ordered the brown butter gnocchi to start. It's a small plate with just a few gnocchi and it was amazing! It was suggested we soak up the butter with the bread and we absolutely did! My husband got the seafood bouillabasse and loved it. He did say he wished there was more fish, but then he said it was just the right amount. As he was full but not overly stuffed. I was in town for work and wanted to come back here. I've always had great dinners here. The place gets booked up quickly, so get reservations. The restaurant is nice and this time we sat in the courtyard, since we arrived before our reservation and the host said we could sit there. Service of course is always top notch, and the manager came to check on us during our dinner. We had the sampler appetizer and we both had the lambshank. Both were good, but nothing outstanding as I had previously here. The lamb shank was dry and slightly overcooked. I will definately come back, hopefully next time the food will be better. read more

Well we came for the "Fence" 75s. French 75 is in my top 3 cocktails, so I was drawn to the deal with the construction going on. They were perfect, both the gin and cognac options. We were seated upstairs and jazz music from the street below drifted up to enhance the experience. We ordered the crab fondue to share. It wasn't very crabby but it reminded me of an elevated pot pie filling. For my entree, I chose the steak and eggs at medium temperature. Discovered Tableau from TikTok and I'm so glad we made it for dinner! The ambience in the restaurant gives off fancy so we felt a bit underdressed. However, once we sat outside there were other parties that weren't as dressed up which made us feel relieved. Recommendation for seating per TT was outdoor patio to enjoy the sunset view and live performance from locals in Jackson Square. Definitely call for reservations to ensure you get that seating! Although our sunset view was disrupted from the clouds seeing and hearing the live music was what we thoroughly enjoyed giving us the pure NOLA experience. We ordered Baked Goat Cheese, Browned Butter Gnocchi, and Shrimp & Grits. Goat cheese was a little more pungent to the palate than I was expecting but still a great app for a group. I had a light dinner at the bar. Located near Jackson Square, the service is always impeccable. Host is always welcoming and accommodating whether I have reservations or not. This is one of my goto places when I am doing a day trip coming from Pensacola. And my go to items is the turtle soup. Remember, always ask for sherry to top it. There is a dinning room that wraps around to the main dining with the view of the kitchen. They also have private dining room upstairs. Also the is a balcony for dining. There is also a central courtyard. Note, there is a community theater next door. So if there is a show, there is always a theater crowd around the bar ordering drinks while waiting for the show to start. This was the only downfall sitting at the bar for a meal. I was surrounded with people breathing on top of me ordering wine or cocktail while we sat and tried to enjoy our meal. If it wasn't for this, I would have given them a 5 stars. My advice, if you are to sit at the bar, ask the host if there is a show happening next door. I have been here before, and their Shrimp and Grits was yummy too. Also I like their gumbo. read more

I'm very happy with the outcome of my experience here. I was a bit skeptical bc we couldn't find reservations anywhere but this place had an opening. It was a bit of a wait for seating outside on the balcony on 2nd floor but only for about 15 minutes. It was a cloudy day and a random outing to NOLA from Mobile but turned out to be sunny and nice! Perfect lunch outside for my son's 15th birthday. All the appetizers were delicious! From the complimentary warm bread, to the glazed pork belly app, blue crab fondue (my favorite) and truffle crab claws. Server noticed I ate all my crostinis for the crab dip and offered to bring me more. A lot more! So generous. Entrees ordered were chicken tableau and pork chop which were both very good. My son's crème brûlée was served differently from up north which was a nice different touch. It was wider and flatter but easier to share. I would def return to Tableu next time when In the area. Oh! Four stars is bc the bathroom was so far from our table, also very filthy, and all toilets backed up except for one. Wasn't sure if I was stepping on pee or leaking toilet or what. We decided to sit at the bar and we could see people passing by through the nearby windows. There is balcony seating but we didn't know that until later. Bet it's nice up there. Brunch stop with friends. This well known spot sits close to Jackson Square. No street parking due to location and construction this day. We parked, then walked. Based on reputation alone, I recommend making a reservation. We arrived soon as they opened and had to wait for our table. No problem though since we were allowed to entertain ourselves at the bar until then. The French 75 was only 75 cents this Sunday (limit 3). My friends enjoyed, said they tasted great. Bartender was also great. We sat in the beautiful, serene courtyard, perfect weather. Our server was very attentive and accommodating, able to make suggestions. For starters we had the crabmeat cheesecake and fried oyster pan roast. The cheesecake was topped with crab claws and full of crabmeat. I thought the texture and flavor would be weird, but the flavors and texture paired well. The oysters for the pan roast had a cornmeal texture and fried well. The apples and sauce were a delicious base for this dish. For entrees, all but one ordered the gulf fish almondine. The fish was cooked perfectly, crispy outside, fluffy inside. The almonds were a little overcooked. Overall, we all felt the dish lacked flavor. Not seasoned with anything. I asked for a sauce to hopefully add something but to no avail. I didn't want to complain, so I just kept my dish. They forgot our one different entrees, so we had to wait for it to be prepared. As a courtesy, my friend was given the duck and andouille gumbo while waiting. She was appreciative, but only ate two bites. We all tried it and were not fans of it. Her entree finally came, the steak and eggs. She said the steak temp was correct and taste was just okay. Everything else on the plate was delicious and well cooked. Tableau is the place to go if you want to feel like family, be embraced by a gorgeous atmosphere, and eat amazing food. I went here for my birthday with my family on somewhat of a whim. None of us have ever heard of it before and aren't local, but we were able to secure a reservation and thought them menu seemed good enough. Wow did I underestimate it. Upon entering the two hosts were extremely welcoming and kind and even got us sat early since we got there a little before our reservation time. The whole venue is gorgeous but I really recommend upstairs. The inside is warm and cozy while still feeling luxurious, and the outside balcony has the true energy that embodies all of New Orleans. You can't go wrong. We received some fresh French bread and butter which was simple and effective. We ate probably three loaves of it, it's what you think bread should really taste like. Our server Ruby deserves a whole review of its own but simply put, they were AMAZING. We didn't need to ask for anything, we were treated with continuous kindness, and she was hysterical making us feel at home. It is some of the most fun I've ever had in an upscale dining experience. I couldn't thank Ruby and the staff more. The manager of the sister restaurants was there as well, Lee, and he was just as wonderful. Ruby truly made my night so special I didn't even care about going out after because it was such a fun experience. Every single moment made me feel special and it was nothing I have ever received at another place. If you have a special occasion or need a place to dine, I would only recommend here. Setting aside time to talk with us and the enormous effort and care everyone put into our time there made our experience unforgettable. You think restaurants are special because of the food but they are nothing without the people. And I would come back to Tableau for them alone. That said, I had the best meal I've ever had. The final final icing on the cake was Kyle, who does the bananas foster presentations. It is so impressive and informative as he masterfully cooks the bananas foster table side and tells you the history of how it came to be. Ruby, Kyle, Lee, and the hosts who I unfortunately didn't get the name of but must include because you are all so so important to the whole experience, thank you. Genuinely. This trip was one I've waited on for a few years to save up for, and you guys made it a memory that I will cherish forever. I would wait a hundred years on a waitlist if I meant I got the opportunity to dine here again. Unfortunately, nothing may ever live up to it again. Thought off the book A Tale of Two Cities. The fish almandine was one of the best fish dishes I've had. Then two people on my party had to return Their mussel dishes as uneatable. An app of brown butter sage gnocchi was attractively presented but bland and tasteless. Then came sticky toffee pudding- well, that is what the menu said. What was delivered was a thick, brown, dry cake with a bland sauce and a large scoop of ok ice cream. Nothing memorable about it, not bad but definitely was not sticky toffee pudding. Finished by ordering a Sazerac which came out almost room temp and the orange peel was just dropped in the drink, not expressed over it. First visit to Tableau, and honestly? Very disappointed. We had made reservations for 4 about 5 or 6 weeks in advance. At 6:30pm we were seated in an upstairs room that was almost empty at the time. Within an hour it was full of very large groups (we're talking groups of 12-18, some of which were prom kids). We felt like we were placed in the "kid's room" at the holidays, and all the adults are in another part of the house! The table closest to us was 12 drunken, frat boy types, and they were extremely loud and boisterous. At one point, they flipped off the switch that controls the lighting in the room, so all the chandeliers went dark. None of the staff seemed to notice, because there's not enough wait staff for the size of this venue. I finally mentioned it to our maitre'd about 30 minutes later when he happened to come by, and told him that the party next to us was negatively impacting the entire room and the other diners' experience. (Did I mention that several of the frat boys wore shorts, t-shirts and backwards ball caps? What happened to the dress code that we had read about online, and was supposedly strictly enforced, especially at the dinner shift??) As for the food, it was average. Coming from Las Vegas, we are accustomed to very good food, elevated pricing and great service. So the price points on the Tableau menu were reasonable to us. The service? Although friendly, definitely not polished, and quite harried due to what appears to be skeletal staffing. There is room for improvement at this restaurant. I had high hopes for this place, but it was a complete letdown. First, the shrimp and grits were absolutely *bland*. No seasoning, no flavor-- . The chicken sandwich was overcooked to the point of being dry and tough. To make matters worse, our waitress forgot to put in one of our party's meals. By the time we realized it, we have already waited an hour for our food. she offered to finally put it in, we just opted out because we were already frustrated. Went here with my husband and two young children before a show at the petite Theatre. I would give 4 1/2 stars for food and our waitress was fantastic so good with the kids. However, the hostess was terrible. We came in. We had had reservations and still had to wait about 15 minutes and gave us attitude when we had asked for a specific table in the shade and she still gave us a table in the sun and then rolled her eyes when we reiterated that we would like in the shade and she said well you'll have to wait even longer. I normally wouldn't have even mentioned this in the review, but it really did take our experience. The food did take a little while to come out, but they were very busy at the time so I excuse them. Overall, I would definitely come back, especially if we're going to the petite theater love its location and proximity to the theater, and the staff overall was very nice and courteous for the most part. read more

Ate here 1/3/26 for dinner. Good place for solo diners. From the outstanding service by Ashleigh and all the service team, I felt welcomed by their high level of attention. After I finished dining, the hostess even walked me out to show me where to get a Lyft pick up. Because there is a lot of street construction going on right around the restaurant and you cannot drive up to it right now. The food is truly divine. From the delicious House salad with a lemon dressing to the Tableau chicken and the upside down apple cake for dessert, each item was delicious and unique. And yes, I'm saying the tableau chicken is unique. I've never had anything like it in any other restaurant. You really should try it. As well as that upside down apple cake with the olive oil ice cream. I was a little hesitant about that ice cream, but Ashleigh assured me that it was a perfect match for the Apple cake-and she was right. Tableau will definitely be on my list for my next NOLA visit. We came here on a tour and started with cocktails. Very cool restaurant with haunted history, ghost lore and a neat private wine room for special events. They make a great aperol spritz. This place was also an old hospital during the civil war. I'd love to come back for dinner sometime. They also have a neat courtyard in the middle of the building. read more

Grabbed a reservation ahead of a quick day trip to The Big Easy. We were promptly seated and enjoyed a quick round of drinks to cool off from the New Orleans heat in July. The interior and ambiance was classy, clean and new looking, as opposed to most of the nicer establishments in N.O. Our server was terrific. She explained the specials, answered questions about menu items and kept our table at the top of her list all evening. The food was better than expected. We had the blue crab fondue, turtle soup, duck/andouille gumbo, creole seafood pasta and shrimp/crab and grits. Each course was better than the next. For dessert we shared a creme brûlée and another custard dish I can't remember the name of but they were also delicious. tableau also offers some interesting specialty drinks and an extensive wine list. 5/5 stars for lunch here on Mother's Day. I got the brown butter gnocchi appetizer and the red currant crepe entree. We shared the Instagram worthy large creme brulee dessert. There are vegetarian options here. The food tasted gourmet level and the service was outstanding. I ate every last drop of food. My only complaint would be that the portions of the appetizer and entree were small. But the creme brulee dessert was a huge portion on a big plate for 2-4 people to share. This restaurant is upscale and I would recommend business casual dress here. You would feel out of place here in casual clothes. We sat on the 2nd level balcony seating outside and had a great view of Jackson Square. read more

My coworker recommended Tableau to me. Though my fiance and I have been to a handful of New Orleans institutions, I took my coworker's word for Tableau and was not disappointed. I made reservations for 12:15pm on a Thursday. We arrived around noon. Not only were we seated right away, but we were also able to get a balcony table as I requested. The restaurant is pretty big. It may not look like it from the outside, but once you venture in you'll find that they have a a few dining spaces including the downstairs bar, "The Library," The Green Room, the courtyard, the balcony, etc. Overall service was great. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered a few things off the menu including the turtle soup, crawfish etouffee, and the shrimp and grits. My fiance and I shared the turtle soup. The soup was good. The flavor was great, but I found their soup more on the runny side. I was a big fan of everything I tried, but I must say that the crawfish etouffee was the standout dish. The shrimp and grits were good, but I can see them being heavy and buttery. read more
