We came here on a Saturday morning during our trip and our experience was okay. The lady assigning tables was very nice and funny once we spoke to her, but she was assigning tables to people who came in after us and seemed to be skipping over us? She was also handing out menus and we were also skipped for that. Once we flagged her down, she told us she would find us a table, then forgot about us. That was fine though, we did not have a problem finding a table once we got our food. The host was very nice once we were seated. It is an order at the front then find a seat kind of restaurant. When you order a coffee or drink, they give it to you while you're standing in line so you have to hold them which I thought was a little odd to be holding hot coffee with no cream or sugar yet until I got to the table. Also, the line took a while to go through, but we didn't really mind that. The whole vibe just was not that welcoming. On to the food, I had the crawfish omelet and my wife had the banana stuffed french toast. Hers was amazing. Mine needed more seasoning or something. I added some salt and it was okay. The potatoes, however, were very good. Nice and crispy.
We came here for brunch when it was really busy. You walk up to order and staff was friendly. I got the fried green tomato Benedict which was tasty and I really loved the fresh salad it came with. Nice open space and overall quick service!
Lux Cafe is a counter service restaurant with a full service coffee set up. Seating is open and tables can be merged together for big groups. I tried the shrimp and grits for the first time and thought it was pretty good. They went a little heavy on the cheese topping, but it tasted good either way. A person in our group noted that the sausage breakfast sandwich came with a sausage link and not a sausage patty. So if you're not a sausage link fan, be sure to clarify when ordering!
Why wasn't there a line out the door like "Two Chicks Café"? That, I don't know. She wanted to hit the popular breakfast spot but while walking, we saw the ridiculous line outside. Being observant, I spotted Lux Café, which is on the ground floor of an office building. I used my influence and was able to pursuade the pivot move to Lux Café. Once inside, there was a small line but the café was modern and everyone's food looked tasty. The host quickly found us a table for four, even though it looked full to capacity. You have to order at the counter, pay, and then they'll bring your food to you once it's ready. Our food was excellent. The avocado toast, seafood grits, and the chicken and waffles were all hits! We ended up at Two Chicks Café the next day, but listen to me closely, skip the line and just come to Lux, I liked Lux just a tad better!! :)
Happy New Year!!!! Our first meal in 2026 started for us at Lux Cafe! With the College Playoff Games in New Orleans, every restaurant was packed! Lux Cafe had their process for big crowds. You can tell they are used to this type of busy. It did take sometime to order with a 5 minute wait in line, however our party of 4 was able to eat a wonderful meal. They recommended the majority of the party to sit while one made the order, this actually worked and people came and went like a well oiled machine. The staff, while overworked, were NICE! Ambiance is casual. Let's get into it! Chicken and Waffle - My mama said it was one of the best she'd had! Meat Lover Omelette - Delicious Avocado Toast - Delicious Cajun Fish and grits - Yummy! SUPER YUMMY and would come again!
Solid 4 stars. We had great service by Lo! The food, I'd rate a 4. We tried one savory dish and one sweet dish. The seafood grits were just okay to me. So I was scouring yelp looking for a new brunch place I hadn't tried yet. Found this place, it had good reviews but I was surprised I had never heard of it. Idk why it's not in more people's radar but their loss cause this place was amazing. Immediately when we walked in we were greeted by two servers. They explained the set up to us which was that you had to order at the counter but the food would be brought to you. My sister and I struggled choosing what to get as the menu had great options. We were between the seafood grits and the breakfast lo boy. Ultimately we both decided on seafood grits, I know it's dumb but my sister said she didn't wanna share. Honestly I'm glad we didn't because I cleaned that plate. The grits were so good. Perfectly creamy. The seafood mix and sauce was sooo good. Lots of cheese but Not too salty. It was just great. We had no notes. The only con I can think of is the parking but that's the CBD for you. Overall a nice laidback brunch spot with friendly service and good food. I will be back.
Don't let the line dissuade you, it's so work it! Everything single dish was delicious. Brunch vibes, but it's not stuffy or pretentious. They have so many options that everyone can find something!
Lux was absolutely amazing! Not only was everything beautifully presented, but the breakfast tasted just as incredible as they looked. The crêpe was perfectly sweet, and the pancakes were fluffy, fresh, and topped with the perfect combination of fruit and whipped cream. Everything was rich in flavor and made with so much attention to detail. Such a cute spot with delicious food -- definitely worth the visit!
The food is delicious and perfectly seasoned. The service was excellent as it is small place and you have wait for a seat however they have staff to fund you a table while the other guest order food! Food came out fast! Very casual place with a cute bar area! I definitely would come back!
- Service was absolutely terrible but I'm starting to think this is a trend for New Orleans in general. Service is slow and the seating arrangement is cluttered as if trying to get as many people to fit into a place as possible to ensure the max amount of money is made. Some tables are seated in hard to reach spots that make it hard for waiter/waitress to even get through with food. This is shame considering the place is in very nice location in the Downtown area. I feel bad for the waiter/waitress that are clearly overwhelmed with the amount of patrons. You have to ask yourself is it worth it to come here, probably not. The menu has a nice selection but after 27 mins waiting to just get drinks and another 20 mins for the food which at the time of writing this, I still have not received my food. Food never came after 1 hour of waiting. Some things are better left for others to enjoy as my experience wasn't enjoyable. I didn't give it a one star because at least the place was clean.
Very good food though asking for crisp bacon means it is cooked but still floppy. Makes me sad but could be worse. The potato bow was great beyond the bacon. Service was spot on and gracious though an employee on break? Decided yelling instructions across the restaurant was perfectly acceptable. The property was clean and comfortable with a nice style. Good enough to come back to.
Great service, good food and ambiance, with ample space definitely a must stop when visiting the area. We had a group of 12 and didn't have an issue getting seated.

Definitely more of a café than a LUX dining experience. The restaurant is located in a cool downtown area with a lively, energetic vibe. Unfortunately, I noticed a few parties leave after being seated because they were waiting too long for service. That wasn't my experience, though. My party of two was seated promptly, and our server greeted us kindly. We received waters right away and placed our drink order. Shortly afterward, we were asked if we were ready to order our food, which felt a bit rushed. There's a balance between being attentive and giving guests enough time to settle in and look over the menu. One thing that surprised me was being served drinks in plastic cups. It's not a major issue, but it does take away from the overall upscale feel the restaurant seems to be aiming for. We ordered two mimosas--one pineapple and one orange. Both were well made, and I had no complaints. For breakfast, we ordered the chicken and waffles and the fish and grits. The chicken and waffles were good but fairly standard, with a generous amount of fresh fruit as a garnish. The catfish was fried exactly as requested and had great flavor. However, the grits were slightly undercooked and still gritty, and the Parmesan cheese didn't complement the dish very well. Since the fish is served on top of the grits, it begins to lose its crispness and becomes mushy as it sits. Even adding salt and pepper couldn't improve the grits enough for me. Service was pleasant and professional throughout the meal. The staff was polite and attentive, but nothing particularly stood out. Overall, the experience didn't quite match the upscale atmosphere the restaurant's branding suggests. I'd describe it as an elevated café with a light bar rather than a luxury dining destination. read more

Great lunch spot! The service was quick and the food good. There is nothing wow about it but it's a good bite to eat. It was within walking distance of our hotel which made it perfect for us! It's in the business district so the atmosphere matches this. If you want a quick bite with super nice staff, we loved our waitress, stop here for a good lunch. read more

A great brunch spot! I ordered the shrimp poboy and received a MASSIVE poboy with great fries and onion rings on the side. The onion rings were perfectly cooked, fries were as well. The poboy was well executed. Shrimp was fresh and seaosned, all the other toppings were fresh as well and a welcome sight to cut the heaviness of the sandwich. Overall, Lux Cafe brought great food and good service to a cute restaurant! Need a brunch spot? Try Lux cafe next time! read more

My visit to Lux Café was intended to be a highlight of our first meal in New Orleans. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. Despite the posted Saturday hours of 7 AM to 7 PM, we arrived to find the café closed early. Given the bustling atmosphere in the city, especially with a Superdome concert and numerous seminars taking place, I expected the restaurant to remain open. This was disappointing, especially after a long four-hour flight and a desire to support local businesses. Regrettably, I cannot recommend Lux Café at this time. read more

This meal was the epitome of New Orleans and possibly one of my favorite dishes in all of New Orleans. Ambiance is meh but the service is great. We had the sweetest southern lady wait on us and she was as hospitable as can be. Honestly was hesitant to try this place at first because the name "lux" usually screams over-priced bland food like Los Angeles or Dubai cafes. But I was wrong. Still think they should change their name. Nonetheless, Go here. Order the Cajun biscuits. Ask for an extra biscuit. read more

To start, the service was amazing. As soon as we came in, we were greeted by a nice lady who walked us through the entire menu and gave suggestions. She pointed us in the right direction to make our order. The overall aura was very nice. It was quite with smooth jazz instrumentals playing in the background. Our food came out super quickly after ordering. One person in our group had a mix up on her order, and it was taken care of within 5 minutes! Finally, the food was delicious! I ordered the chicken and waffles which were bomb. My partner had the breakfast po-boy which was so good too! read more

Second time here, super busy compared to the first time I was here with a large group (Nov 2024). There were probably 30 people seated already and 15 people ahead of me in line to order. I stayed because I remembered the food being good previously (& I had time). Once I ordered, I was able to get a seat at the bar right away but I know there were some groups waiting for tables. Food took about 15 mins to come out but was very hot and clearly just made. The chicken biscuit was okay, not the best I ever had but still good. The potatoes and iced chai latte were delicious! Would go back again if you have the time to wait! read more

Conveniently located in the CBD on the first floor of the Exchange Center. There's ample metered parking on the streets surrounding the building. We were greeted immediately by Sharon, the manager and other staff then seated. There were many items to choose from including a vegan option. I ordered a crawfish omelette which was paired with breakfast potatoes. The dish was perfectly seasoned and filling. I also ordered an iced matcha latte which was refreshing. My husband ordered chicken and waffles and cheese grits. He described his dish as mouthwatering. From the small bite I took from his dish, it tasted like a it could almost be dessert. If you have a sweet tooth, the chicken and waffles would be perfect. Both my husband and I were impressed and would definitely visit again to try other dishes. read more

Fried Catfish (flour batter) and seafood medley was hot, grits were barely warm. Sent it back and kept the catfish, somehow it came back after 10+ minutes, still warm. No flavor, no salt, no butter. Too much work to make it be flavorful for a restaurant in the bayou. And even tho, they saw it was not eaten, no questions were asked. Hard pass! read more

We stopped by the Lux Cafe directly after leaving MSY Airport! The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. Our servers were Sharon and Lo. These ladies were amazing! We will definitely come back during our stay in NOLA! I would have given 10 stars, but only 5 were available. read more

Found this place doing a Google search of top restaurants in NO. Looked at the reviews and menu and decided to try them out. This hidden gem is conveniently located in the business district and did not disappoint. We had the ultimate seafood grits and the chicken and waffles. The portion sizes were huge and they both tasted absolutely amazing. I had catfish/shrimp and grits 3 times from 3 different restaurants during my stay and this was hands down the best spot we had them from. The only con is they only have one cashier and the line was long to place our order. I would suggest they get a hand held point of sale system, this way when the line gets long during their peak hours people don't have to stand in a long line to place their order, they can just place it with the waiter. read more

Went here for breakfast in NOLA! Got the chai latte, but they got my order wrong and gave me a matcha latte- which to be fair was good but they also got my friends order wrong as well. I got the crawfish omlette which I felt was overall a little bit bland- there are definitely better brunch spots around. read more
