We made reservations online and arrived prior to opening by a few minutes, but they allowed us to wait inside due to the rain and heat. That was a very nice gesture and set the tone for the rest of the visit. The menu had your traditional breakfast fare, such as bacon, eggs, pancakes. But I wanted shrimp and grits and I was not disappointed. The grits were creamy, flavorful, and I did not turn into a liquid mess once cool. Shrimp is deveined (YES!!!!) and it's a nice size portion. This spot is walking distance from the Saints football stadium and Pelicans basketball stadium which is perfect for people who want to indulge in good food and sports. Chapter IV was one of the best dining experiences I had during my recent trip to New Orleans. The restaurant is owned by Chef Dion Chase, grandson of the late great Leah Chase. I had them bookmarked on Yelp, but one of the local drivers said they have some of the best gumbo so I knew I had to see for myself. I called prior to arriving to inquire if they would be able to accommodate a party of 6 and was told to come on in. The restaurant is bright and modern. The menu has a good mix of Louisiana staples as well as some other stand out dishes. I wanted to taste a bit of everything, so I ordered the gumbo, sweet chili wings and ribs and the oysters Rockefeller. The gumbo was fantastic! I wish I could've taken some back home, lol. The sweet chili wings and ribs were a favorite amongst our table. The meat was a bit crisp and tender on the inside. The oyster Rockefeller was good too. The oysters were fried, places on top of creamed spinach and topped with pickled red onions. One dish amongst the group was sent back, but overall everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Chapter IV is opened by Chef Dook Chase and his wife Gretchen. It's named for Dook being fourth generation of his family, and this being fourth restaurant under his operation. Aside from his culinary training in Paris, he also trained for a lifetime under his grandmother, Leah Chase - who is the owner of the famous restaurant, Dooky Chase where many celebs including Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have dined in. I didn't know about the history till after my visit (and seeing Chef Dook Chase's name on the door), but regardless, I still had an amazing meal. Chapter IV is located under the new apartment complex Thirteen15 and has street/meter parking. The space is minimal and welcoming, with very nice artworks hung around the restaurant. STARTERS: - Oyster Rockefeller: Crispy fried oysters on creamed spinach, topped with pickled onions and jalapeños. This isn't your average Rockefeller oysters because the slight twist is, it isn't on the shell and it's deep fried. The crispy fried oysters gave a light salty taste with a crispy texture to it, but the pickled onions and jalapeños were semi-sweet giving the right balance of flavor to it. Probably one of my favorite ways of a cooked oyster. - Sweet Chili Wings & Ribs: The wings and ribs are cooked in sweet chili, soy sauce, ginger and garlic. We ordered this because my mom has a new allergic reaction to seafood and this was something she could eat since the oysters were no good for her. So glad we ordered it because the flavor is so good. It's not spicy at all and more of a sweet & spicy flavor to it with a very subtle ginger taste that just brings out the flavor in it. Literally finger licking good, because that's what my mom and I were doing after eating it. FOOD: - Seafood Linguine: My cousin ordered this and it is squid ink linguine with lump crab, shrimp, peas and mushrooms. He allowed me to try his dish and the pasta is creamy and cooked al dente, and the shrimp is nice and plump. Definitely something I'd get next time! It's also his favorite - he says it's the best squid ink pasta he's had. - Grilled Redfish: I ordered this as a recommendation from our waitress and it was delicious. The fish has a nice flaky texture to it and perfectly pan-fried with that charred outer layer. It's served over a bed of crab fried rice and a side of yellow and zucchini squash. The perfect veggies as a side to my carbs. - Filet Mignon: The only meat option on the menu aside, my mom enjoyed her steak. It was served with some crispy Brabant potatoes, creamed spinach, and garlic butter sauce. This tender steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and our waitress was amazing too - she consistently came by to check on us and filled our water cups. My coworker is from the north shore and when we decided to meet up for lunch we both had this restaurant at the top of our list. We did make a reservation, but when we got there (around noon on a Friday), there seemed to be plenty open seating. I love the layout and design of the restaurant. It is very open and inviting and not too crowded with tables. The food did not disappoint! The salmon was cooked to perfection- very juicy and flavorful. The martini was the perfect balance of sweetness, coffee, and liquor. As you can see from my photos, the dishes and drinks were beautifully presented as well. I stopped in recently and sat at the bar. The service was friendly and attentive, and I really enjoyed my drink. The appetizer I ordered, the gumbo, was also delicious--definitely the highlight of the meal. For my entrée, I went with the Caesar salad and added shrimp. Unfortunately, this was where the experience fell short. The Caesar dressing didn't taste like a true Caesar at all--it was very oily and lacked the bold, tangy flavor you'd expect. At one point, I even asked the server if she was sure it was Caesar dressing because it just didn't taste right. I also paid about $12 extra for the shrimp, and while there were around seven, it still felt overpriced given the quality of the salad. I also ordered smothered okra to go, and honestly, it was probably the worst okra I've ever had. Very disappointing, especially compared to how good the gumbo was. Ambience-wise, it was fine. The football game was on at the bar, so it had a casual, laid-back vibe, nothing particularly special but not bad either.
