What I got: crawfish etouffee cavatelli (5/5) -- fresh pasta swimming in aromatic tomato crawfish sauce, heavy on the garlic..wished for more crawfish and tomato as it was mostly pasta but the depth of flavor and the sauce viscosity were outstanding. I would add more acid because the dish was getting a bit too rich near its end chocolate doberge cake (1/5) -- the outer fondant layer was very grainy and sliding off the cake while the icing beneath that was super sweet. The bread I got which was a new Orleans staple was supposed to be warm as it was advertised that way but it was cold and hard. The aioli was good. The burger was good and cooked medium. The bacon was nice and thick. The fries were seasoned well. The breakfast was not good. The French toast was horrible, fruit was warm and flavorless, the biscuit was cold and hard, and the eggs were not seasoned well. Not sure how they messed breakfast up, but I would stay away. They also delivered an already opened coke bottle with my room service, but quickly fixed it when I called to tell them. First meal ever in New Orleans and it stared w a bang. The dinner started with a crawfish and corn chowder that was exceptional. I also found out that crawfish are not as big as what I thought were closer to the size of shrimp. A generous bowl that I shared and it was really a great start to the meal. For my meal, I had to char broiled swordfish that came with vegetables cooked to perfection. I always like my vegetables cooked a little on the soft side and that's what exactly what I got. It also came with grapefruit which you don't expect with a dinner, but it was very nice. My only thought was that the swordfish could've been cooked a little less. We went for lunch & at the suggestion of the wait staff, we selected shareables to sample their specialties & items that were unique to us. I attended a group dinner at Luke, and enjoyed a nice meal. We had a semi-large party and were sat near the entrance of the restaurant. Our server was friendly and continued to check on us throughout the night. For my main course, I ordered the fried oyster salad. As a side, I added the cheese grits. Both were really good and made well. I hadn't had true southern cheese grits in years, and this one took the cake. Like I said in all my food post for New Orleans, you can literally walk down any single street and turn into any restaurant and find some amazing food. This restaurant was very unique. They have these really cool boars head mounted to the wall. I asked the waitress if that was Luke. She said it wasn't. The food here is very good, I went with this pork dish, quite good, the gumbo was phenomenal. That was probably my favorite along with the dessert. Are waitresses from the United Kingdom. Upon arriving in New Orleans, my wife and I strolled over to Luke for their Happy Hour menu and dinner. It was happy hour, so my wife ordered the Seersucker, and I ordered a Black Velvet. The Black Velvet was amazing, I highly recommend it to any chocolate/coffee lovers. We had to order the oysters appetisers because they looked so good. We got the fried oysters and 6 raw oysters off their Happy Hour menu, which is an incredible deal. They were fantastic, and highly recommend getting them to start. My wife noticed the couple next to us received their shrimp and grits, which looked amazing. The couple said they are regulars and always go to Luke's for their shrimp and grits. So that settled it, my wife ordered shrimp and grits, and I got the pork schnitzel. The shrimp and grits did not disappoint, my wife loved them. The schnitzel was ginormous! I broke my ankle during this trip, and the restaurant was very accommodating and helpful, even storing our luggage at the front desk for us. Luke came highly recommended by our Uber driver for oysters and quality drinks. Happy Hour is daily from 3-6pm and is the way to go. Drinks and oysters are half price. We wandered in here after leaving the French Quarters/Bourbon Street area. The reviews looked good, so we gave it a try. Very friendly and inform staff. We started with the Bone Marrow and Escargot. This sounds like it would have been superb if there wasn't a snafu with what was brought. The bone that we received had an extremely small amount of marrow. We mentioned it to the staff and they apologized and informed us they wlukd bring out another. We waited a good while and then the Kitchen Manager came out, inquired and then apologized stating it would be on the house and he was sending us another. We thought they would take the plate and do a fresh order, heck I wouldn't mind if they heated the escargot to use on the new order, but they never took the plate. My dinner partner thoughts were to not waste it so he ate the escargot. About 5 minutes later they brought out a new bone marrow, and that is all. ?????? It was hot and tasty, but I lost out on what the experience should have been by having them together and hot!! We also had cocktails, which were pretty darn great. I enjoyed the oysters on the half shell while my dining partner had the duck which was extremely tasty!! When we receive the bill the bone marrow on escargot charge was still on there, which we discovered after we had already paid the bill. The wait staff did apologize for it and offered to take it off. The oysters were fresh and delicious; and all the other dishes were cooked perfectly and so flavorful. I couldn't stop eating. You have to get Brendan's Bread Pudding to end your night because it was so decadent and the candied pecans were a treat. Service was fantastic and friendly.
