    Rack of Lamb Algérie

First class place for any occasion. First time here and the experience was amazing. The lamb was perfectly med rare, just like I requested. It was well seasoned, nicely charred, tender and juicy. The garlic /parley relish gave it an extra punch of flavor blast. Brussels sprouts were sweet and savory, and a hint of tomato. This is a must try. The potato soufflé was very unique and probably very labor intensive, because they were super expensive for the portions you get. The best dessert and must try is the baked Alaska. It's very special and delicious. Must do: ask for a tour of the restaurant. It's very impressive and there are many rooms and things to see. Our server and tour guide was Kobe, he was outstanding. Our group loved him, he was friendly, personable, and professional.

Antoine's is definitely an experience and feels like stepping into classic New Orleans. It's much more upscale than a casual restaurant and has that old-school French/New Orleans feel throughout. There is a dress code to enter, so definitely something to keep in mind before going! The service matched the more elevated atmosphere and everyone was very professional. Considering how popular and busy the restaurant gets, there were a few moments where things felt a little delayed, but nothing major or enough to take away from the experience. We started with Antoine's Soufflé Potatoes. They were okay, but probably not something I'd order again. They reminded me of really thin potato chips, except soft rather than crispy, and I just wasn't the biggest fan of the texture. For my entrée, I had the Pompano Pontchartrain. It was good, but honestly a little mid for me compared to the other fish we ordered which I believe the other dish was redfish, and THAT one was amazing. Definitely the winner between the two and something I'd order again. Overall, I enjoyed Antoine's and think it's worth visiting, especially if you want a more traditional, historic New Orleans dining experience. The atmosphere and history are a big part of what makes it special!

This is fairly classy place in New Orleans with a lot of history. There is a large dining room as well as a few dedicated dining rooms for larger parties. Reservation is recommended but not necessary - just keep in mind they are very strict on dress code. I almost could not get in even with a buttoned up t-shirt as most people actually wear long sleeved suit and dress pants with dress shoes, even in 90 degree weather, but I asked nicely given we have a reservation and they let us through. It is definitely a place mostly for special occasions or date nights, and the menu prices reflect as such. We were not too hungry so we got the oysters 2-2-2 and a gumbo to share. The oysters Rockefeller is their signature, but I actually didn't like that one since the spinach and cheese with oysters was not the best combo - I liked the oysters bay Ronquille more which is richer and masks the oyster flavor more. They are the large oysters which are not my preference. For dessert, we were considering the original baked Alaska but the server mentioned they no longer torch the dessert tableside, which is the only reason we would splurge for the larger dessert. Instead, as we still wanted to try baked Alaska, they had a spring baked Alaska which is similar but with strawberries which is pretty delicious. Service is okay. I guess Saturday dinner they are slammed but we were not well attended to, but the food is at least delivered in a timely manner. Unlike other reviews, they no longer do a restaurant tour at the end during weekends, but you are more than welcome to wander around after dinner - the servers in other dining rooms were friendly and welcoming and encouraged us to go in and take a look, so that was a good intermediary.

Creole Tomato Salad with Lump Crab first course from the two course coolinary menu

The two course $28 weekday Coolinary lunch at Antoine's was amazing. Of course, we also ordered Pimm's cups on a very hot August day to accompany our lunch. First, they delivered their amazing hot bread to the table and fresh butter. For our first course, we both chose the Creole Tomato Salad with jumbo lump crabmeat, roquefort, shaved shallots, herbs de Provence, and Nicole dressing. Our se one courses were the French Dip and the Soft Shell Crab. Both of us loved our lunch! It was perfect after a particularly hot day of exploring in the Quarter. We were too full for dessert but I can tell you their Baked Alaska has never disappointed this girl! The service was attentive but not overbearing. I needed a day like this to fall in love with the Quarter all over again and between this and shopping at some of our unique local stores; I fell in love again!

I held a private brunch at Antoine's and the entire process was great from start to finish. Wendy, the private dining and events manager, gave me all the information I needed to make informed decisions. She was super helpful and was quick to answer my questions. On the day of the event I had time to set up. When I was taken to the room I was greeted by Meghan and Murphy. They were extremely helpful throughout the event. They made sure all my needs were met. They had already set the table up before I got there so I quickly added my decorations to the table. The room was beautiful without any additional decor. Being able to add my own custom touch to the table made the event even more special. Once the event started Murphy and Meghan continued to be phenomenal servers to my guests. They were so friendly and accommodating. My guests enjoyed the food. I ordered the baked Alaska for my guests. I was able to add a custom message and this dessert came with a show that my guests enjoyed so freaking much. This event happened during Sunday brunch so a jazz band came and performed in our private room. This was the cherry on top o an already amazing experience. All in all I'm so glad I chose Antoine's for such a special and intimate occasion. Everything went better than planned. It was truly an amazing day thanks to the staff at Antoine's.

The restaurant is beautiful and the history is vast and interesting. We were quickly escorted to our table and things seemed promising. Our service team was nearly perfect and I have to applaud all the assistant servers for their politeness and attention to detail. However, our server got an order wrong (which he quickly corrected), and then forgot the creme brulee one of our party ordered. I also think that it was a little annoying that knowing she ordered a dessert that the restaurant still charged us for every single person for the baked Alaska (instead of one less). The food? Mixed. The steak eaters loved their steaks (after one moment got her order corrected). The pompano was a little dry and bland; I was looking for salt everywhere. The grilled seafood dish was a hit, and the seafood gumbo also had a lot of flavor. The appetizers were somewhat disappointing especially with all the history of the Oysters Rockefeller invented here. Overall, I want to say it's a great experience and a beautiful restaurant. You won't be disappointed with their ambience and service, but the food may be underwhelming.

The Good: Service was excellent. They staff stopped by often enough to check in but not so often that it interrupted conversations. We ordered the escargot as our appetizer and we were off to a good start. The Bad: we were sat in this cavernous too with the most uncomfortable wooded cafe chairs. I admit to being surprised by the style of seating based upon the rest of the decor. The ugly: I ordered their Grilliades de Fruit de Mer and was so disappointed - mostly because I grew up on the coast and love eating and cooking seafood. Overall the flavors were good - however the execution was poor. The crab cakes and scallops were cooked on top high a heat so that the crust on the crab cake was black and the inside hasn't had time to come together and the scallops looked perfectly seared but mostly raw on the inside.

Antoine's is a truly special place and an experience in itself. The history, atmosphere, service, and food all come together to make it unforgettable. Our waiter was fantastic--he had the voice of a radio announcer and the knowledge of a historian. Hearing him describe the specials and recommend dishes made the meal even more enjoyable. The seafood was outstanding, and the Sazerac was one of the best I've had. After dinner, we explored the different dining rooms and the wine cellar, which gave us an even greater appreciation for the restaurant's rich history. If you're looking for a classic New Orleans dining experience with incredible food, exceptional service, and a fascinating story, Antoine's is absolutely worth the visit.

We had reservations here one night for a large party, the greeting was not very warm, even initially. Then, we were all dressed very nice but they gave one member of our party a hard time about arranging his collar, then couldn't find our reservation, then said they found it, took us to the wrong table to a waiting couple we didn't know, left us standing awkwardly in the dining room, then came back and gestured to an adjacent table. Very messy intro. The dining room was very large with no intimacy. Our server was also really bad. Multiple things forgotten, drinks that we were charged for that never got delivered, not knowing who ordered what when coming back with food or drinks, and some strange interactions with members of our party etc. etc. You get the picture. The food was good, I really appreciated the gf designations on the menu. The charbroiled oysters and gulf fish were delicious. Other members of our party didn't have complaints about the food either. Was mostly a service issue and for how expensive this place is and with its reputation, we just expected a bit more class, but it's not a bad place. Actually a solid spot for celiacs to get some good gf new orleans cuisine.

Ok so, the pros: This is probs some of the best service I have ever experienced. Honestly, super knowledgeable, personable and attentive. I also think historically this place is note worthy. It has an interesting history and is absolutely beautiful. The food: everything was just ok. The oysters were probs my fave but really was not a huge fan of the food. Def go once for the vibes

The drink was great. Good atmosphere but my husband needed a shirt with a collar, his entire outfit was over $300, we had reservations and had to go back and change his shirt but a bridal party was seated next to us in pjs!! Yes! Pjs! The oysters were ok, the chicken shown tasted like hospital cafeteria food, and the baked Alaska, horrible, dry, such a let down. Just save yourself and go to Brennans instead.

First let me say our server Ziggy was amazing! He was very attentive, friendly and on point! The atmosphere is lovely. We were eating in the Rex dining room. The food left a little to be desired. Nothing was served hot. All the food was pretty much served lukewarm. My Chicken Rochambeau was dry but the flavor was okay. The oysters didn't really have a "fresh flavor" however, the bread pudding was spectacular. We had reservations booked for about 2 months and of course our visit was during Jazz Fest. I'm unsure why the food wasn't top notch but, take from this what you will.

I truly don't understand the hype. We came here to celebrate my BFF's and my 50th birthdays after seeing glowing Google reviews claiming this was one of the best restaurants New Orleans has to offer. Sadly, it was not. We were initially seated right next to the entrance and bathrooms, despite there being several open tables. Maybe because we were just a party of two, they figured it didn't matter? After asking to be moved (because constant foot traffic and bathroom proximity isn't exactly "celebration" vibes), we were relocated--only to be squeezed between two large parties of eight. The entire time, I had to keep adjusting my seat just so staff could squeeze by. It was uncomfortable and made us feel like an afterthought compared to the larger tables around us. Service didn't improve things. Our server and their assistant seemed completely disengaged--no real recommendations, no guidance on wine pairings, and no effort to elevate the experience, especially for first-time diners. And the food... underwhelming at best. Even the starter bread looked and tasted like a stale hot dog bun, which pretty much set the tone. We ordered multiple dishes to sample the menu, and everything was either bland or overly salty. For the price point, it felt like they were coasting on reputation rather than delivering quality. We left having barely touched our meal. Honestly, it was one of the worst dining experiences I had in New Orleans--which says a lot in a city known for incredible food. Save your money and go somewhere that actually lives up to the city's standards.

Antoine's Restaurant Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Antoine's Restaurant

Do you still serve the 3 martinis special during lunch hour? Was reading a fellow diner named PC and PC wrote that there is no longer a martini special during lunch hour as of 2023. Just wanna make sure since we will be in town again. Thanks.

Antoine's has not had the 3 martini special for almost a decade now, there are other great New Orleans restaurants that do that perhaps that's the confusion. Regardless, there is a great Happy Hour in the Hermes Bar 4-5 Monday-Friday with $8…

Is there a dress code for lunch? We weren't allowed to enter the restaurant because we were dressed casual? While not dressed our Sunday best, we weren't allowed to dine there.

While their website does state their dress code, when I went I didn't observe it being enforced and I was there for dinner. I guess it depends on who is at the host/,hostess station.

    Can kids wear shorts?

Hi Anna, Yes, children may wear shorts when dining with us.…

    1. Is the dress code enforced for Saturday brunch? 2. Are you required to show Vaccine proof still?

    No and no

Where do you park and do they validate?

They don't have a parking area. You have to pay to park on the street or in a parking lot/garage or take an Uber/Lyft from where you do park. That is the case with most restaurants in the Quarter.

Would it be appropriate to bring a well behaved 8 year old here for an early dinner, or is this place not suitable for children?

Yes you can bring your 8 year old. It's good for kids to learn how to behave in nice restaurants. :)

Do men need a jacket or tie?

From their website. The dress code is Business Casual— Collared shirts are required for gentlemen,…

    Sunday brunch with live music?

    Yes

    Do they have Air conditioning?

    Yes, is usually chilly haha

Do you need a reservation or do they take walk-Ins?

They talk walk in but it's strongly recommended to make a reservation, specially if for more than two people.

    What should women wear?

New Orleans is very forgiving when it comes to tourist attire, however, I always wear a cute skirt or dress. As one of our oldest dining establishments, it's fun to honor the tradition of fine dining and foster the fun of "puttin' on the ritz"! Go…

    What can vegans eat here?

There are lots of great cocktails!

Is a jacket required for male diners?

Went for lunch saw everything from sport coats to t-shirts, shorts and flip flops

My boyfriend and I started with the Creole oysters and OMG... probably some of the best oysters I've ever had. They were incredibly flavorful, and dipping the bread into all that sauce afterward was SO good. My mother-in-law had the fried calamari, which came with remoulade, and she really enjoyed it. For my entrée, I had the jambalaya with chicken and andouille sausage. It was definitely spicy, but really, really good. My boyfriend and mother-in-law both had the grilled red snapper topped with their creamy crawfish sauce, and they loved it. My father-in-law had one of the oyster specials with shrimp and crawfish, which was also excellent. We finished with dessert... boyfriend and I had a chocolate mousse/cake dessert and my in-laws had the bread pudding. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was casual and fun, they had the football games playing on the TVs, and our waitress was fantastic the entire night. Just an overall great experience. If you love seafood and oysters, definitely give this place a try. I would 100% come back!

There was nobody at the host stand but since there were 3 empty seats at the bar we began to sit there. As we started seating, the host directed us back outside and told us we needed to wait because the bar wasn't clean. Not sure why they couldn't clean the bar while we were sitting there like any other place. So then we started the line and people started filling up behind us. The host seated those people before us, he assumed that we only wanted to sit at the bar, but we actually preferred a table. The only reason we were going to sit at the bar is because we thought that was the only place available at that time. After about 10 more minutes of waiting the bar wasn't finally clean and we were seated. We ordered chargrilled oysters, half with crab meat, raw oysters, and my friends got gumbo. The chargrilled oysters were AMAZING. As a raw oyster lover, I was skeptical about cooked oysters because I thought they would be rubbery, but that was not the case. They were very tender and just melted in you mouth. I would not recommend the raw oysters from here, unfortunately. They were edible, but huge and not very tasty. Bottom line: if you arrive at one of the rare times that doesn't have a line, just wait outside the door.

There were five of us and we had Etouffee, Jambalaya, gumbo, red beans and rice, and a blackened chicken po' boy. Classic New Orleans dishes and everything was great. The decor is fun and lively with lots of interesting art and expressions on the walls. A fun atmosphere. But what was super special was the hospitality of the staff, particularly our server, Olivia. We had a baby with us, and just as our food arrived, the baby started to cry. When our server asked if she could hold the baby, we all looked at each other in surprise, shrugged, and handed the baby over. To the delight of all the patrons around us, Olivia calmed the baby, then carried her around with her as she continued working. It was easy for us to keep an eye on them as we enjoyed our delicious food, and Olivia came by our table regularly to make sure we were still okay with her holding the baby, and we were, especially since she got the baby to fall asleep on her while she was working! We could see the other patrons smiling as Olivia went by their tables. Everyone enjoyed this beautiful display of kindness and southern hospitality at its best. So, I recommend Oceana for the food and the vibe, but Olivia put Oceana above all the other wonderful NOLA restaurants.

We ordered everything off the raw bar off the specials menu, and everything was very good. My favorite was probably either the Kinilaw or the crab claws. The Kinilaw's flavor was perfectly balanced, not too sour at all, and the crab claws soaked up the marinade nicely, and it was very flavorful. The crab salad was delicious too, the flavor felt cooling and refreshing on a hot and humid day. The tuna crudo were also really delicious, but for how much we paid for that one, I did wish there was a bit more. Service is excellent. Fast and prompt. The staff are knowledgeable and kind. Definitely coming back!

I genuinely do NOT understand the hype around Pêche. We came in with pretty high expectations given…read morethe Michelin Guide recognition and this was easily one of the most disappointing meals we had in New Orleans. We got there about 20 minutes early and they were nice enough to seat us early, which I appreciated. We did ask the host if the AC was working because it was HOT and he looked at us like we had just offended his mother. Weird start. Our waiter Jason came over to explain the menu and immediately seemed flustered/annoyed that we had questions. It was our first time there?? Of course we had questions lol. I told him I have a crustacean allergy. He mentioned shellfish and I clarified that it was specifically crustaceans because I can eat other shellfish. No big deal and I WILL give them credit because they did accommodate my allergy. Before the food even came my father-in-law ordered an Old Fashioned with one large cube. Jason seemed annoyed by that request too, said it was fine, and then the drink comes out with a bunch of regular ice cubes anyway. Had to be redone. Small thing but this basically became the theme of the night. Then the food. I wanted the kale salad and asked if they could leave off the peanuts. Absolutely not because apparently it's the chef's grandmother's recipe and there are NO modifications. Okay grandma. We won't disrespect the recipe. For my hanger steak they offered to cook it separately in a pan because of my allergy which I genuinely appreciated. I also asked if I could ORDER the creamed corn on the side and was told he could ask but couldn't guarantee what the kitchen would do. What?? It's literally on the menu and I'm paying for it lol. They did bring it and it was basically corn kernels sitting in watery liquid. Underwhelming is being generous. The crab claws were good but nothing memorable. My boyfriend ordered the steak tartare and somehow that took longer than everything else because apparently raw steak on bread needed extra time. Then the Royal Red shrimp...THIS was insane. My boyfriend was almost finished when he got to one that was undercooked and SLIMY. At a seafood restaurant with this kind of reputation??? We told Jason and basically got a "thank you for letting me know." Sir. You just served someone slimy undercooked shrimp. Maybe show a LITTLE concern??? For entrées my boyfriend and his mom got the grilled cobia. Tiny piece of fish with a bland corn situation. Mediocre at best. My father-in-law and I got the hanger steak. Mine was closer to rare than medium rare and kind of cold. Again...mediocre. Because of my allergy my potatoes came separately which I appreciated. Mine had aioli underneath them while my father-in-law's SAME potatoes had no aioli whatsoever. We asked someone why and he literally just smiled at us like... No explanation. My father-in-law ended up eating some of mine. Then Jason realized he completely forgot my mother-in-law's Brussels sprouts AFTER our entrées were already out. He offered to put them in but couldn't guarantee they would arrive before we finished eating. LOL okay never mind then?? By this point Jason seemed to be actively avoiding our table and honestly the entire staff looked MISERABLE. That was probably the weirdest part of the whole experience. Everyone looked annoyed. Nobody seemed like they wanted to be there. People kept walking behind us hitting my chair and my mother-in-law's chair. It was hot, cramped and just had a shitty vibe. The saving grace was dessert. The sticky toffee pudding and caramel cake were REALLY good and easily the best part of the entire meal. But two good desserts cannot save an entire dinner. Between the mediocre food, inconsistent service, forgotten order, weird attitude over basic questions and an UNDERCOOKED SHRIMP at a seafood restaurant...I truly do not understand the reputation. Maybe we caught them on a terrible night but New Orleans has way too many incredible restaurants for me to ever waste another meal here.

A Seafood Spot We Keep Coming Back To!…read more My husband, my daughter, and I have been going to Boil Seafood House for the past few months, and so far, we've really enjoyed every visit. It's definitely become a place we keep coming back to. We usually get the seafood boil with snow crab legs, and this time we went with the medium heat and butter garlic flavor. Everything was really good and full of flavor. My husband and I got the potatoes as our sides, while my daughter got the boiled eggs. We also ordered a side of French fries to share, and let me just say... we ate those so fast that I completely forgot to take a picture! They were good! I also like the whole seafood boil experience here. They offer you a bib and gloves if you want them, which definitely comes in handy when you're getting into those crab legs. The service has been good every time we've visited, and the atmosphere is always lively. One of the coolest things happened after we had finished eating. Someone came around offering little samples for people to try, and they stopped by our table and asked if we wanted to try the soft-shell shrimp. I'm not sure if it's something new on the menu or just something they were serving as a sample, but we said yes -- and I'm so glad we did! That shrimp was delicious! It literally melted in my mouth. I'm usually not a big fan of eating anything with the shell still on, but this was so good that I didn't even mind it. Definitely not what I expected, and it was probably one of my favorite little surprises of the visit. I didn't take a ton of pictures this time, but I'll share the few that I did get. So far, Boil Seafood House has been a winner for us, and since we've enjoyed every visit, We'll be back again for another seafood boil!

Arrowhead to Drago's As always, Drago's has excellent food,…read morebut I want to start this review with some suggestions about the NON-FOOD of Drago's Riverside. ... When I was looking for Drago's on the ground flood of the Hilton, I noticed restaurant activity down a path bordered by two hip-level walls. It was Drago's. When I approached a sign at the end of the path, there was a horizontal line on the sign with instructions to go straight ahead. Well, straight ahead meant through the sign and through a wall. The sign also said something about a green wall. I looked left and saw the reception desk far in the back. So I kept walking left because the exit from the path was only to the left. I approached the desk to ask if I needed reservation for lunch about a hour later. I was assured that reservations that day would not be needed. When I approached the same sign in the path an hour later, I noticed on the sign a small arrowhead on the end of the horizontal line. It would be great if the arrowhead could be made larger and the verbiage would say simply "Go left for the hostess." ... On my return to Drago's about one p.m., I asked for a place a bit out-of-the-way. I was seated next to two screaming children. So, without complaint, the host reseated me in a darker part of the restaurant which was perfect for my preferences. My waitress was Ashanti. She was attentive, efficient, and personable. She brought me a half-dozen of charbroiled oysters which were hot and excellent with extra slices of French bread because much of the pleasure from charbroiled oysters is from the butter sauce. (This downtown Drago's might serve more French bread than the Drago's in Metairie.) The oysters were small but I could not complain because Argust is not really a month with an "R" in the name. ... I also had a cup of seafood gumbo (with a good complement of shrimp) as well as a Heineken and a Kim Crawford sauvignon. The gumbo was good, but no New Orleans grandmother need worry whether Drago's had stolen her gumbo recipe. .. The ambiance of this Drago's was good although the rap music was discordant early. Later there was a soothing clarinet. The table top was bare, but there were cloth napkins and good silverware. ... Enjoy Drago's.

If I'm here, I'm probably sitting at the bar, having a drink, and ordering the charbroiled oysters. That's the reason to come. Hot, buttery, garlicky, cheesy, and exactly what you expect when somebody says Drago's. Beyond that, I'm not really going out of my way for a full meal here. The place stays busy, there's a constant flow of tourists, and the overall experience feels more like checking a famous New Orleans restaurant off the list than discovering somewhere I can't wait to return to. The bar is actually the sweet spot for me. Grab a drink, get the oysters, enjoy the atmosphere, and keep it moving. Fine for what it is, and I'd absolutely stop in for charbroiled oysters, but I'm not building MY dinner plans around it.
