Everyone suggested Drago, specifically the Charbroiled Oysters. 10/10 extremely good. Definitely recommend. Our waiter for the night was Juan. He was the BEST! He had a friendly smile and helped us with suggestions. We lovedddd his honesty and he had amazing sense of humor. He made the experience a 100/10. read more

If I could give a -10, I would. The restaurant is located in the hotel. Went to Drago to help celebrate a friend's birthday. Was greeted by the host who had to clean out the table in order to be seated. Restaurant was relatively busy so noise level was intense. Server greeted us asked if we would like water to place an appetizer. We ordered a half dozen of oysters. The server asked if we would like them charred. We told the server we would like them raw. When oysters arrived, they were the size of half dollars (had no taste), there was no horseradish, nor serving forks, or lemons. Told server about our concerns. He brought back one fork, and a saucer of lemons. Tables were pretty close, so when the table behind us ordered oysters, they came out the size of the palm of your hand. Asked server if we could speak to the manager, which he informed me that he would take care of the concern. He bought back another half dozen which were a more reasonable size (had a better flavor). When the server took our entrée order, I ordered the crawfish étouffée, and my friend ordered the shrimp pasta. When the order came out, I could feel the the serving plates were very hot, which let me know that the plates had been in a microwave, my rice was old and hard, I thought I was being pranked, I asked the server for the manger. Manger came to our table to address my concerns, she asked how was the flavor of the étouffée and that she would bring out just a bowl of the étouffée, I told her I couldn't get past the rice in order to taste the rest of the dish, she's still insisted that I should try the étouffée. I told her that once I send food back twice, I could not trust what would come out of the kitchen. She told me she would take my food off the ticket. Server did try to apologize for the service of the food, but the moment was lost. read more

Oysters were amazing. Five star. Gumbo was good 7/10 Service was five star The restaurant was traditional and clean . Will definitely be back read more

Not a bad restaurant for being in a hotel. Prices are decent for the fact that it's within a hotel. The food was alright. Mac and cheese came out frozen so I sent it back... came back barley warmed up. Was kinda shocked that it would have been frozen to begin with. Wait staff was really good and they too were shocked with the state of the Mac and cheese. The rest of the food was alright. Louder area being next to the hotel bar so was hard to talk with friends at the table during a football game. Might try again next time we're in town. read more

Drago's Restaurant: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly I had the blessed opportunity to visit Drago's Restaurant in New Orleans. I had heard about this place for years and finally decided to give it a shot on my most recent trip back home. First, the good. The hype about the chargrilled oysters is not just hype. As we say in New Orleans, BABY, the flavor and taste of those oysters is a reality. We ordered six, and after my first oyster I wished we had ordered a dozen. THEY WERE THAT GOOD. Now, the bad. Although this place is known for its oysters, it should be known for its fries. I have to say that their shrimp and catfish platters are not New Orleans. Their shrimp and catfish platter should be called a fries platter with a side of catfish and a side of shrimp. This skimpy and stingy portion makes Drago's nothing more than a tourist trap for the hungry traveler, not a destination for locals. This is just my opinion, as only the night before I had eaten at New Orleans Seafood & Spirits on the Westbank and had so much seafood on my plate that I could have easily split it between three to four people. Now, the ugly. The seasoning on both the shrimp and catfish platters was borderline bland at best. I give Drago's three stars. read more

I was extremely disappointed in the oysters. I could barely taste oysters. It was more about the toppings. There are other days on the moon looked really good, but we were still pretty full from an earlier meal. And the other hand, the staff was great. They were quick and sweet. Despite that being super busy, it was not that loud and we can hear each other talk. Kinda to see the flames being used high from the open kitchen. This place is very casual and huge. We saw some sports TV playing at the bar area. This would be a great place for a big party, but on the terms of food, we only had their oyster and it was very sad. We walked here from our hotel by the stadium. This location right next to the Riverwalk.. read more

If i could give this place zero stars, I definitely would. The food, service, and atmosphere were all terrible. I started off by asking the server how the crab came prepared on their salad, he informed me that it is from a can. We got a ribeye and ordered it medium rare, it came out well done. We sent it back and it came out medium. Both steaks were grey and rubbery and tasted like it was previously frozen. The 2nd steak they sent out, they didn't even bother to melt the butter on top. It was still cold on the steak. The corn on the cob, was flavored with an awful smoke flavoring. It was also dry. The corn bread was half decent but it was also dry. The braised beef tasted freezer burnt. The mashed potatoes were so dry that the gravy from the beef didn't even make them better. The mashed potatoes also had no flavor. The fingerling potatoes were also dry and over salted. The oysters were also rubbery and tasted like artificial smoke flavoring and dirty sea water. My strawberry mocktail that was listed on the menu tasted like straight soda water. The staff were very slow and didn't refill our waters until we were finished eating. The place was loud and dirty. The floors were sticky and the tables had a film on them and dry food stuck to the table. I will never be back. read more

We stopped by Drago's for a late lunch after our visit at the aquarium. We opted for the deep fried alligator as our appetizer. Loved how it was cooked - crunchy and flavorful, and the horseradish sauce complimented it well. I wish there was more in the order though. The highlight of our meal was the Lobster Marco and wow, it was incredible. Lobster was fresh and sweet; it was served with Angel hair pasta in delicious mushroom and shrimp cream sauce. Our kiddo got the angel hair pasta in alfredo sauce. Simple dish with nothing else and he loved it! Service was wonderful and we left with a happy belly. read more

We had a spectacular dinner at Drago's Seafood Restaurant inside the Hilton New Orleans Riverside! My husband's sister and her friend were visiting from out of town, so it was a group of five with me, my husband, our daughter, my sister-in-law, and her friend. The food overall was outstanding, and it was a great spot to take out-of-town guests. To kick things off, we started with a dozen of their legendary Charbroiled Oysters. To be completely honest, we were a little disappointed with them this time. Normally, Drago's oysters are swimming in that famous, rich garlic-butter sauce, but this batch was not as juicy and lacked that extra sauce we are used to getting. They weren't completely dry, but definitely missing that signature butteriness. On the bright side, the rest of the meal was flawless! My sister-in-law ordered a bottle of Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay for her, her friend, and me to share, which was beautifully chilled and paired perfectly with everything. For entrees, my husband and I both ordered the Boneless Beef Short Rib. It was incredibly tender--true melt-in-your-mouth perfection--served over creamy mashed potatoes with rich gravy and topped with fresh sautéed spinach. My sister-in-law got the Seafood Pasta, which was completely decadent with a rich cream sauce over angel hair and a very generous mound of sweet lump crabmeat right on top. Her friend ordered Mama Ruth's Seafood Gumbo and loved that authentic, deep New Orleans dark roux flavor. Our daughter went with the Filet Mignon, which was cooked perfectly and came with a massive plate of hot, crispy French fries that the whole table ended up happily snacking on. Despite the oysters being a bit of a letdown, the entrees, wine, and atmosphere made for a memorable night with family. We will definitely give them another try! read more

I came to Drago's in New Orleans for one reason: the famous charbroiled oysters. They were so incredible that I ended up coming back a second time during my trip. That's it. That's the review. The oysters were buttery, garlicky, cheesy, and perfectly charred--absolutely worth the hype. Beyond the food, the service was wonderful. Our waiter, Kay, was attentive and friendly, and the hostesses were just as welcoming, making the entire experience feel warm from the moment we walked in. The ambiance has a classic New Orleans feel--older, spacious, and almost reminiscent of a casino with its large dining room. It may not be the trendiest restaurant in the city, but it delivers exactly what people come for. If you're visiting New Orleans, do yourself a favor and order the charbroiled oysters. They alone are worth the stop... or two. read more

The Charbroiled Oysters were something I've heard is a must try but I did not think it would be THAT good. Well guess what?!? It's even BETTER than imaginable. The oysters were something so incredible we ended up ordering 5 dozen among 3 people. Dylan did a great job keeping up with our group and he recommended some amazing things as well - but nothing compared (so much so I forgot to take a photo of anything BUT those oysters). And don't forget to let the bread soak up that butter sauce when you're done eating the oysters! If you get sat in the central area of the restaurant then you get an amazing view of the oysters getting made by the chefs and there's a big burst of flames which is exciting to see! read more

I actually dined at Drago's twice during my visit to New Orleans. Our first night there, we dined after spending time at the Spirits Bar. Our waiter was on point. He made great recommendations, and he was just very accommodating and nice. We were a party of seven and was able to be seated within fifteen minutes. The atmosphere is lively, and it's a very spacious area. I ordered the Crawfish Étouffée and it was delicious! It doesn't look like a lot when they first bring out the plate but it was very filling. I had the spicy El Drago to wash it all down. It has jalapeño and pineapple tequila and topped off with a jalapeño. Very tasty and paired well with my dish. My second visit was for lunch on our last full day. I came back for the oysters. Everyone has been talking about the oysters, and I hadn't had any and said, I would make it back just for this. Our party ordered chargrilled oysters to share and a few of us also ordered raw oysters as well. They are on special during lunch, so go check it out. The oysters are 10/10! Our waitress for the day was so sweet. I'll definitely be dining at Drago's again whenever I make it back down to New Orleans! read more

From the moment we arrived, the valet team greeted us with wonderful service, making us feel welcome right away. A few days earlier, I was lucky to be invited to a birthday dinner with a big group. We were seated right on time for our reservation, and our party was comfortably split between two spacious tables. Our attentive servers were quick to take our orders, which made everything feel smooth and enjoyable. Although the selection of alcohol was a bit limited, I still managed to find a drink I liked. We stayed at the Hilton and decided to try Dragos for dinner Saturday night. The ambiance is really nice. There was a line, but it moved quickly. The restaurant is actually bigger than we thought. Our server was just okay, maybe she had a long day. I ordered the chargrilled oysters to start off, my husband had the gumbo. Both were delicious, no complaints. Our main entree. I ordered the main lobster and he ordered the Mediterranean fish dinner. The lobster had a little fresh taste, kinda fishy. I didn't too much like that and the butter didn't mask it. My husband said his reddish taste like vinegar. The potatoes that came with both meals were very delicious, nice and buttery and tender. All in all, I know that I can get the chargrilled oysters and be satisfied. read more

I went to this restaurant on Wednesday at opening. My party was small and only included two people, overall, I would say the experience is pretty disappointing. The restaurant is located in the Hilton Hotel near the Riverwalk, and it's relatively dilapidated. You can tell it hasn't been updated in quite a few years, and the menus we received were a bit dirty and sticky. Those working, the host stand, seemed more concerned with getting people sitting down than actually talking, and greeting you. We let them know we had a reservation, and they set us at a table with two chairs next to the walkway. Considering the restaurant was relatively empty, we asked to be seated in a booth and were met with hesitation, and not allowed. However, as we sat there waiting for our small order of half oysters, and a side of fries we watched a table of three people get the same booth we were denied. The charbroiled oysters were okay they are an acquired taste but worth trying while in the city since it's a cultural staple in NOLA. They don't give enough bread to enjoy them with honestly. Overall - I think the dining experience is lackluster but appreciated the recommendation and I'm glad I tried it once. read more

We went to Drago's during our visit to New Orleans. We had been told by several friends and residents (one street car driver) that this was the place for chargrilled oysters. They were on the top of my list and a must have while in town. We arrived late afternoon and found the restaurant to be very large inside and to our surprise extremely quiet. We were seated right away and our server appeared soon after. We weren't sure if this was our final meal of the day, but ordered a dozen chargrilled oysters for a great start. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed the large indoor grill with oysters on top. The chefs were grilling away and turned up the heat for a very fun show! When our platter arrived, some of the oysters were chargrilled more than others. I love them really charred so they were happy to accommodate me. One of the joys of eating chargrilled oysters is the bread you get for dipping into the sauce made with butter, garlic and cheese! After enjoying some very large, tasty oysters with that wonderful crusted bread, we couldn't eat another bite, until later ;-) . Because when in New Orleans, you gotta eat!!! read more

My friends and I decided to come here while waiting for our flight home from NOLA. The bartender at our hotel suggested going to Drago's, and we enjoyed our experience. We went on Mother's Day 2026, but were able to grab a reservation a couple of days before. There was a steady flow of patrons, but it wasn't packed. Since it's part of the Hilton hotel, it's pretty large and opens up to the hotel lobby and bar. We walked from our hotel, so I'm not sure about parking. We arrived a little early, but were immediately seated, which was nice, especially considering it was a holiday. I ordered a Prosecco to drink. I went with 2 other friends, so we decided to split a dozen charbroiled oysters. The oysters were delicious! I think I could've eaten 2 dozen by myself! For my entrée, I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Pasta with Creole sauce. The pasta was good, but not great. The shrimp were delicious, but the sauce was mediocre. My friend got a lobster cream sauce with her entree, and I put some on my pasta, and that was very good. The shrimp pasta was just shrimp, pasta, and the sauce. I'm curious how the Alfredo sauce would've been. I would return and try some other dishes, but will DEFINITELY get the charbroiled oysters if I come again. read more

Some people recommended Dragos, so gave it a try. It is located in the Hilton Hotel by the NOLO Riverwalk. Started with Chargrilled Oysters which were pretty good, however some of the cut up pieces of roll were stale. Then ordered Shuckee Duckee which is an apparent original dish there. This dish is supposed to have a "twice-fried Duck Leg quarter" in paste with Oysterz, well I don't order fried food often, however the Duck Leg did not appear in the least to be Twice Fried as it was not crisp at all, seemed Flash Fried. I tried asking the server and he just said it was fried, did not offer to remake it or call a manager. The Duck was not bad, however not as described or expected. Drago's in New Orleans is one of those places I'd classify as a tourist trap, but not necessarily in the worst way. If I'm here, I'm probably sitting at the bar, having a drink, and ordering the charbroiled oysters. That's the reason to come. Hot, buttery, garlicky, cheesy, and exactly what you expect when somebody says Drago's. Beyond that, I'm not really going out of my way for a full meal here. The place stays busy, there's a constant flow of tourists, and the overall experience feels more like checking a famous New Orleans restaurant off the list than discovering somewhere I can't wait to return to. The bar is actually the sweet spot for me. Grab a drink, get the oysters, enjoy the atmosphere, and keep it moving. Fine for what it is, and I'd absolutely stop in for charbroiled oysters, but I'm not building MY dinner plans around it. read more

I'll give a solid 4. Mainly because nothing I ate made me feel that I had to return, but everything was solid. The wait staff was a highlight. Personable and attentive. Drink stayed full. Suggested items. Friendly. So I came into town to take my mom here for mother's day. We had gumbo, charbroiled oysters, fish and shrimp with grits, bbq shrimp, a fried seafood platter and a red fish meal. Liked the gumbo. But everything was fine. Nothing memorable. But also nothing that me not want to come back. The fish on the fish and shrimp and grits was a little too cooked and thin would be my one genuine knock. read more

This restaurant wasn't bad but it wasn't the best restaurant I tried on my trip. I do think it's a little over hyped. I would only recommend the oysters. The flavor of the oysters are good. They are garlicky, buttery, and I love taste of the char of the grill. But the size of the oysters are small. I ate the fish shrimp and grits. The grits and shrimp are good. If you google red fish, I'm pretty sure it's talapia. I asked the waitress what red fish was and all she said was that it's a local fish. I ate it because I had already ordered it, but it would be nice to know exactly what kind of fish I'm eating. The restaurant is big and spacious. The oysters were fresh, but could've been cleaned better. We found some bits of shell and sand in a few of them. They crab grilled cheese was meh, but if dipped in the truffle cream dip, then it is a complete game changer. The seafood gumbo was good, but not something I'd go out of my way for. The crab dip was not memorable. My boyfriend really liked his local craft beer, as we are not from here. My cocktail was good and tasted like a pina colada. We randomly chose Drago's for three main reasons: they had charbroiled oysters, it was a 10‑minute walk from our hotel, and we were hungry and it was getting late--so I guess that makes four. With so many great restaurants in NOLA, I may need to start reviewing on a curve; otherwise, I'll just be handing out five stars across the board. The food and service were fantastic, but I can't say enough about how delicious the charbroiled and raw oysters were. The taste and size of the raw oysters were something I rarely experience. Usually, when oysters are this large, they lose flavor--these were both large and very tasty. BB read more

Drago's Seafood was one of several spots recommended to me during my first visit to New Orleans--specifically for the famous charbroiled oysters. When I tell you I devoured them immediately... I mean it. I had never tried charbroiled oysters before, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but they were absolutely delicious. They were rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The dish also comes with bread so you can soak up the buttery, garlicky sauce surrounding the oysters--which is honestly half the experience. And in true "me" fashion, I definitely asked for more bread so I could keep dipping and make sure none of that sauce went to waste. I also have to give a special shout-out to my server, Otis. He was amazing--friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better with his great service. This was such a satisfying first introduction to charbroiled oysters, and I'm so glad Drago's was the place I tried them. I would absolutely come back for these again. read more
