Turtle Bay -- 4 Listen... this is MY spot. One of my favorite places and honestly one of the only places I'll sit down and eat in the French Quarter. I've been coming here for about 6 or 7 years now, and they are easily in my top three. The vibe? Dive bar, laid back, no fuss... but the FOOD? Don't sleep on it. Their menu is solid and I still haven't made it through everything yet. I've had the wings, which we actually got this visit but ate them so fast we didn't even get a picture. That should tell you enough right there. I've had the pizza, and my husband usually goes for a burger. Never any complaints. They've got plenty on tap and the drinks hit too. I love a good Electric Lemonade, but this time I kept it simple with an Angry Orchard. Now let's talk about what keeps me coming back... The steak. We got our old faithful, one of their signature steaks, the 10oz petite ribeye. This is exactly what made me fall in love with Turtle Bay in the first place. Normally it's around $13.95, comes with a twice stuffed potato and a slice of garlic bread. A DEAL. This time it was a little higher, but still under $15, which honestly is still more than fair with how prices are these days. And when I say it be hitting... it be hitting. Only reason this visit didn't get a full 5 stars? My steak was cooked a little over my liking. I usually go for medium, and this one leaned more done than I prefer. Not horrible, just not my usual perfection. But everything else? Still solid. The staff is always nice, always welcoming. I've never had a bad experience with them, and that matters. And I already know I'm coming back because I keep hearing the crawfish is FIRE. Yeah... I need to see that for myself. This is my happy place. We had a local tell us about this little dive bar and we're excited to try it. It is located behind some construction currently being done downtown but was easy to navigate and locate. The staff was a big rough around the edges. I inquired about their buffalo burger by asking if their buffalo sauce was traditional (buttery) or just hot (like Texas Pete). Our server/bartender proceeded to go off that it wasn't fancy, that this was a dive bar, and it's hot buffalo sauce, etc. All I asked for was clarification and trust me- I wasn't expecting something fancy by the look of the place. Again, it's a dive. I ordered the burger anyways. When asked what temp I said medium rare. The burger came out well done (pictured) but at that point I didn't even care and just ate it because I didn't want to deal with the attitude the staff had. Prices were reasonable. The rest of the table had mixed reviews about the food. The pork bbq sandwich my friend got (the sub looking photograph) was VERY good and probably best thing any of us ordered. read more

Went this evening for a friend's birthday. Five of us total, I'm the only one who ordered a burger. They brought out everyone else's food (steaks mainly) and then about five minutes later, a different employee dropped by and asked if everything was ok. I asked if he could check on my order and he came back and said the woman who took it hadn't rang it into the register. He came back to let me know it was in the works. Everyone else was through eating by the time my order came out about 10-15 minutes later. No drink refills were offered during the meal (even after I finished eating my burger) and the woman who initially took our orders didn't mention the burger issue. As a French Quarter resident, I've eaten at Turtle Bay before and have always had a great experience. This wasn't one of them. Stars for the food quality overall and the atmosphere. read more

One of those hidden gems on Decatur that never disappoints! Whether you're catching a game or just want to chill & soak up good vibes, this bar delivers every time. The ambiance gives "Cheers" energy...warm, welcoming, & full of locals & visitors just having a great time. The 10 oz ribeye was delicious. we ordered it rare, it came out a lil medium in some spots, it was still tender & flavorful. The BBQ chicken nachos were a hit too; tasty, just make sure to ask for extra sour cream & BBQ sauce on the side. Their Long Islands are made perfectly mixed. The upstairs bar & patio are a whole vibe. you get a beautiful view & the restroom up stairs impressively clean (which is always a plus in the Quarter!). I flew into New Orleans on a Tuesday and went here. I left the following Tuesday but had to stop in before heading to the airport. The 8oz filet mignon steak special is, dollar for dollar, the best steak I have ever had in a restaurant. Perfectly tender, marbled, and cooked and seasoned to perfection, and topped with a decadent garlic butter. The beer options are great, the ambience is very friendly, and the staff were simply a delight to talk to. Surprisingly good. I say surprising because in all my years here I have never been to Turtle Bay. It took being in town during the Superbowl and a friend from central LA to drag me here. Forget all the trash I talked about this part of Decatur. Turtle Bay is awesome. Let me set the stage for you. Since I know that is what you are looking for when seeking out places to eat. A little stage setting. Anyway, I was in town eleven days in a row, and around day 8 we were flat-out exhausted. Working and going out afterward is hard. Especially when you're old. My buddy swore that Turtle Bay had a great ribeye and potatoes for $21. I was trying to get them to go to Charlie's but the lure of a cheap but good steak was too much to take. I was a major doubter. Consider me a convert. Not only did they have a $21 ribeye with a potato and bread, it was a pretty good ribeye. Was it some prime seared in a 6,000-degree oven steak? Negative. But for $21, it was damn good. So good that you must come here. Trust me on this. It is legit. Besides, what is better than a divey bar with a great beer selection and a cheap but delicious steak? This is a total dive bar with multiple TV screens on different sports events but when I say this is also a GREAT PLACE TO EAT - the pizza, the salads, the steak (they have 10oz and 20oz Ribeyes for great prices!) all the food is always good portions and tasty. After hearing about Turtle Bay steak night for many years we finally tried it out because a friend had a birthday party there. We got there a little early and had a couple of beers at the bar, the atmosphere was dive bar friendly. The party was upstairs and the party room was excellent with a huge balcony including tables and chairs. There were 50ish people there so I was afraid our orders would take a long time and I was starving but the food came out pretty quick. I had the 8oz filet which was served with herb butter, slice of bread and small potato. The potato and bread were nothing to write home about, but the steak was perfect and delicious! Well worth the price. If you're looking for a good steak at decent price, Tuesday night at Turtle Bay is the place to go. read more

Honestly I wasn't sure if it was a bad day but the food my cousin & I got was not good at all she didn't finish her pizza and I didn't finish my burger just got waters and some mozzarella sticks all together was 51, she told me not to leave tip but the bartender was friendly so I left a couple dollars. Shawn was very nice in taking our order at such a late time of night on Fat Tuesday. But unfortunately the other bartender and food runner were very disappointing. I told the food runner that we order the Caesar salad and the table next to us had the fries. In response I was ignored and he proceeded to throw the salad against the wall. I informed Shawn and the other bartender. The other staff member proceeded to say, "we have a lot of orders of salad." Hidden Gem in NOLA! If you are looking for late night eats in the French Quarter, this is the spot. Their kitchen is open super late/much later than nearby bars. Also, trust me on this - get the steak!! It has no right being as good as it is!! I literally went here 3 nights in a row during my trip. The gumbo is also really good for a late night post-drinking meal. Sometimes the bartenders are friendly, sometimes they're not, but that's also part of the fun. We stormwater across this place, leaving the French market. The Hawaiian pizza with hot honey, and coconut flakes was absolutely amazing as well as the barbecue bacon burger! We actually went back the following day to eat again after a very poor experience at Port O Call. We are big Burger fans and me and my wife both agreed that turtle Bays burgers were far better than the other. The atmosphere was great, and the customer service was on point and friendly. A local tour guide recommended this spot for a late night bite and drinks, and I have to say that Turtle Bay definitely did not disappoint. They had a decent crowd the whole time we were there, but the service was friendly, quick, efficient, and attentive throughout the night. We grabbed some burgers and a Hawaiian pizza...both were absolutely amazing. We were absolutely famished after our tour so it definitely hit the spot. The drinks were also perfectly made on the generous side. Between the meal and the drinks, it ended up being the perfect way to end the night. Fantastic experience on vacation needing quick bite to eat for lunch. Was wandering nearby my hotel and saw the Tuesday special sign, and 8 oz filet with potato and garlic bread for $15.95. are you kidding me? Fantastic cut of meat, cooked perfectly medium rare and tender, quite the treat. This bar/restaurant also has a ribeye for $15/10 oz and $22/20 oz. And my understanding is this is a great place for late night food as the kitchen stays open until 5:00 a.m. .. The service was awesome even though at that time of day, it was just one bartender. He was really kind and not forcing people to sit at the bar for his convenience, which I would have understood had he asked. Super friendly and helpful as well. Definitely a big contrast to a nearby bar / eatery. Highly recommend especially if you're visiting and need some excellent food at a reasonable price, as well as away from the craziness of Bourbon Street. read more

The bartender was our server and while behind the bar, she was able to still be attentive to us. They were very accommodating and able to do multiple wing flavors. We all got the Hot Buffalo, Honey BBQ, and Asian Wings. I also got a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The wings were great and each flavor was as expected. The "hot" was not very hot. Love this bar but don't come here if you're uptight and shit. My sister and I had a great artichoke dip. 10/10. And we stayed for the bama/Tennessee game.
