We had dinner at red dog diner on Friday night went in New Orleans for jazz fest. It was recommended to us by friends, and it did not disappoint. The commented cheese was delicious. We also had the Mediterranean grazing plate as a starter and it was very tasty. They have a great cocktail collection as well as beer and wine. We shared a variety of different dishes that were all quite good. The brussels sprouts are fantastic! We were one of the last table seated, and the white staff was so helpful in accommodating. Stopped by Red Dog Diner after it was recommended by a local on a food tour, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I only tried one drink "That B*tch Katrina" and it was so good I kept coming back for it. Ended up going back three more times during my trip. The drink itself was amazing, made with quality ingredients and consistently on point every time. The staff were also great--friendly, quick, and kept things moving. Me and my family celebrated a belated Mother's Day brunch here on Saturday morning. It was our first time dining for breakfast and we really enjoyed it! All of our food was delicious. (I really enjoyed the sweet potato pancakes!!) I want to try some of their breakfast sandwiches and other menu items. The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious AND the cast-iron skillet it's cooked in and keeps it hot for the whole meal. They even offered to refill our chips, which was really nice. Service was good and she knew a lot about the menu! So that was super helpful. I will say it took us about an hour and a half to eat here so if you're looking for something quick, then this might not be the spot for you but if you're looking to enjoy a nice meal and are in no hurry - it's a great spot. I do like that the food doesn't come out immediately because that way I know it's actually being made fresh. Def check out the back alley bar!! You can also sit back there and dine-- Just let the hostess know you'd prefer to sit out back. One thing I did notice was their happy hour and I will be coming back for that! This review is for their secret little bar that you enter via the alleyway next door. Follow the red lights! I couldn't resist. We were walking to our car on Saturday evening after a Magazine Street stroll and a quick stop for wine at the Vintage, intending on hitting up Half Moon for aNOLA nostalgia hit, but the little alleyway and promises of affordable cocktails and wine beckoned. I'd never been to the Red Dog Diner, it's not very vegan-friendly, but the bar, yeah, let's do it! It was 6pm and just a few people inside, just like I like it. We sat at the bar and I admired the frozen bevvies (Irish Coffee, a NOLA staple, and mimosas), but opted for a wine on tap, which was quite good. The bartender was friendly and offered up some good conversation. For the two of us, it was perfect but there's a large room to the side so larger parties would be well-accommodated too. It's like you're semi outside, but all covered so weather wouldn't be an issue unless, I guess, it's extremely cold out, which it wasn't in late February. We'll definitely be back for drinks. This was a bit out of the way from the hotel area but the food was worth the trip. Everything we got was excellent. The place is rustic and there is a big picture of the dog for which I supposed the restaurant is named. The service was friendly and left us alone to eat and talk. We came here because the reviews for Brunch were great. I must say that they did not disappoint. I tried the egg sardu and it was delish. Well balanced! Good portion and very tasty. We tried the brisket omelet and tuna something... very tasty. However I was looking forward to their bloody Mary's and that I most definitely the thing I didn't like. All I could taste was the horseradish. It really missed the mark! But their boozy frozen Irish coffee redeemed the drinks. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the entire city, and they are back serving dinner now! 3-6 pm Thursday through Monday is a Happy Hour down the back alley, and you MUST go! Yes, follow the arrow to the Back Alley Bar, the 3-foot-narrow strip leading to this beautiful courtyard with a bar on one side and an old-wood-walled dining space. We started with mussels and chorizo and could not stop eating, followed up with a pimento patty melt that is as fantastic as it is creative. Gave this place three stars not based on the food, but based on the alcoholic beverages. We ordered champagne, but the champagne was very flat. Wouldn't recommend . But the steak was AMAZING ! As you can tell by the pic, we ordered a massive spread to try a little bit of everything. It was my first time having a lot of things - Eggs sardou, shrimp and grits, sweet potato pancakes. Eggs sardou took me by surprise as I really enjoyed this. Nice twist on a classic eggs benedict with a biscuit in place of a muffin and delicious crab, arugula on the side as a refreshing item to tie it all together. Sweet potato pancakes were the sweet dish we chose to complement the eggs sardou, and boyyy was this good. Bacon on top too? Yep. Shrimp & grits were yummy, all I have to say. Setting: Right on the strip of stores in the Garden District, this beautiful restaurant is spacious and has ample seating. Service: Do expect a bit of a wait, ours was 20 mins long. We loved stopping into the Red Dog Diner for brunch. We appreciated the a la carte options for breakfast foods. Everything was delicious. We thought the curried cauliflower would be incorporated into the omelette in a more chopped up way but it was whole florets-it was so good. The arugula and hummus on the side were a wonderful addition-I only wish I had a bit more hummus. The kids loved the eggs, waffle, and bacon. Great stop for brunch! Loved the cozy inside with the wood interior. Service was welcoming and friendly. My husband and I shared a few dishes- Fried Green Tomatoes-crispy wedges of green tomatoes were fried to perfection and so sweet and juicy. Even on a busy Saturday late morning, we were seated almost immediately in the back portion of the restaurant in the dining area across from the bar. Savannah was our server. Drink order was taken straight away, including a Hair of the Red Dog Bloody Mary. Savannah delivered drinks, entered our order for the Deviled Eggs app and was patient while we took one more minute to make a decision on our meals. Apps were delivered to table by a food runner. Savannah returned and took our order. Husband: Brisket Hash Omelet, Me: Corned Beef Hash. For the amount of people in the restaurant, the food did not take long to be delivered. Deviled eggs were good but nothing especially different. Took a bite of husband's omelet. VERY tasty, considering I don't care for brisket. My Corned Beef Hash was to die for! They made the eggs over hard for me, and the mixture of the creole hollandaise, cabbage & meat was divine. It's the best I've ever eaten and certainly beats the last one I had in Utah at an IHOP. Pricing was, well...Magazine Street pricing. $19 breakfast plates, $10 deviled eggs and Bloody Mary, 2 NA drinks, total before tax & tip: $66. We had a few leftovers so another meal was made of it. The thing that impressed me most was the TEAMWORK. This place was hopping and when Savannah was busy with all her tables, our food was delivered by other servers or food runners. We popped in here for a quick drink and to kill some time until a store reopened after lunch. We actually went all the way to the back, in their Back Alley Bar. Service was very friendly and the bar just had a cool vibe...almost feels like you needed a pass code to get in, like an old Speakeasy. My husband had his usual Old Fashioned (which was tasty) and I had the Lemon Immigrant, a drink of Tito's Vodka and muddled lemonade. We were rolling around in the Garden District when we decided to go for some lunch. We saw the Red Dog, which is apparent hits new, and decided to give it a shot. From the outside it doesn't look like much but looks are deceiving. The place was clean, service was fantastic. Alex, our server, was fantastic and took great care of us. The drink came out quickly and well made: their Old Fashioned is the stuff of legends. We started with the crab and corn fritters that were maybe the best thing I've eaten in 10 years - with the garlic butter they were legitimately like heaven. My wife had a beet and arugula salad that she crushed. I had the prime rib French dip that was completely awesome- we were blown away with the quality of the good and service here. This is a funky, homey restaurant and bar in a cool, friendly, walkable neighborhood in the Garden District. There is some (limited) outside seating, an inside dining room and a cozy little bar area. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent: the presentation was beautiful (especially for a place that labels itself a "diner") and the taste and quality were great. We had the crab cakes benedict and the brisket omelette. The crab cakes were full of crab. The eggs were just runny enough to blend perfectly with the crab cakes and greens (very French style). The brisket was cooked perfectly and wrapped inside a beautifully prepared omelette with a very tasty chimichurri sauce. Even though the portions were plenty large, we treated ourselves to dessert. I'm not a huge fan of bread pudding, but the way it is done here is amazing. Not too soggy or spongy, layered with cherries and nuts, along with fantastic whipped cream and coated in powered sugar. So good! We'd definitely recommend this place as one of New Orleans' best casual brunch spots. read more

We were traveling through town and we had to stop at this sweet little diner because we had a red dog with us. Unfortunately, there was monsoon like rain.
