I'm so glad we were able to experience this spot during the week day to avoid the crowds! The seating is limited. I love that they hang colored pages as their decor. Family said it was the best French toast they've had. My boyfriend cleaned his basic breakfast plate. I swallowed my toast lol. And the fried chicken was seasoned amazingly with a little heat! The pancake balls look unique but taste pretty basic. I'd probably skip this next time. It was one of the better breakfast meals we had while visiting. I'd come back next time we're in town!
Took my husband for brunch food was delicious and service was great . Wait time was not long . Ambiance was nice , clean and intimate . The mimosas was a hit no short cut .
Toast was a such a great breakfast spot. The ambience was very homey, everyone was so incredibly friendly, you can tell it's a local spot. The food was AMAZING! We left satisfied and full.
I was recommended this place by a friend who lives in New Orleans . The service was good, especially on my first visit. I went two days in a row for breakfast because there's so many different items on the menu that I wanted to try. When I come back to New Orleans, I will be trying more items on the menu. The fried shrimp and grits was so tasty. The shrimp was fried extra crispy and fresh. I order an espresso martini and added lavender syrup, which was a great idea. It was one of the best espresso martinis I've had because it was made with fresh coffee. I had the prosciutto and brie crêpe the next day with cheese grits it was very tasty but prosciutto and brie are both very salty foods so be warned that it can be salty. Both portions were really big so I definitely was stuffed when I left. I think the prices were decent and it is a cute little restaurant to stop by for breakfast with a friend or by yourself. My only downside is there is very limited street only parking. I had to circle the block a few times until a spot opened up, but it was worth it.

On my most recent visit, I kept my order simple and had salmon and eggs on toast. It was tasty but not mind blowing. To be fair, I got what I ordered. I usually get the catfish and grits which I really like but I'm trying to avoid fried foods at the moment. I also had a tall glass of unsweetened hibiscus tea and it was great. My uncle had an omelet and a side of grits. He enjoyed it- it disappeared in a matter of minutes.
Update: Just took my mom and aunt for breakfast here and the prior review still stands. The food was so good! Those grits were the best I've ever had and the spinach crepe with veggies and goat cheese, surprisingly delish. I consumed the mayonnaise potatoes on the side and we all took our drinks to go. It was a great start to the day. Highly recommend! It's a small place, very homey. I was greeted with a big smile and great welcome. The food is absolutely amazing. I got the chicken and waffles and a black coffee. The service was friendly and polite and I was very happy eating there. I knew my chicken was going to be perfectly seasoned and juicy once I smelled it. Yep, iykyk, the southern belle came out. The waffle was so good you could eat it without syrup and the cayenne aoili butter, not sure if that is the name, was fantastic. I'm brining my mom and aunt to this place. Their chicken is giving my aunt a run for her money so she needs to try it.

The gentleman walking from the kitchen, the cook on the line, the gentleman at the soda station all looked at me, but no one spoke. Finally the lady behind the bar whose back had been to me, finally turned around and with a surprise welcomed me to the restaurant. The service was quick and thorough. The food was good. My favorite item was the flat white espresso. It's the best I've ever had. I frequent the location in Gretna, and this location doesn't compare.
I visited here for the first time today for brunch. We found nearby free street parking. It's not a large place but we didn't have to wait. We got there about an hr and half before they closed. It is a very casual vibe. The staff were friendly and showed good service. I ordered a pineapple mimosa, some waffles, eggs and lyonnaise potatoes. I enjoyed everything and I would return.

The toast with bacon, mushrooms, mornay, caramelized onions was really good. All the ingredients complemented each other well. I was pleasantly surprised to get full. The banana and Nutella were okay. I wish they added more bananas. The fish and grits were 10/10. Best grits I've ever had. Food came in really fast also.
I finally stopped in at the Gentilly location, and I was seated surprisingly quickly! Everyone was friendly, and the cozy space was decorated very warm and cute! Our waitress was great, and the food came out quickly. My steak was tender and cooked perfectly, and so were the sides. My boyfriend's catfish and grits were really good, but he wasn't a fan of the scrambled eggs. I could have used a bit more seasoning on my sides, but overall it was pretty good food for a reasonable price!
It was one of those days where I happened to be off of work in the middle of the week. I was craving chicken and waffles in the worst way, and I happened to be over by this location. The stars had aligned in such a way that I knew it had to be. The location is on the corner, and you could drive right past it if you didn't know what you're looking for (and I didn't, so trust me for that!). When you walk in, there's a bar seating area, as well as some seating on the main level, and then there's a loft type level with more seating available. I'm glad I was there on a random weekday, as I feel that the line to get in could probably get long on the weekend. Service was prompt, drinks were replenished as needed, and the chicken and waffles were just as I had dreamed they would be. Now, I know that not everyone loves chicken and waffles, but fret not, as they have all kinds of other breakfast options for you to enjoy. Your visit will not be in vain! read more

Potatoes and Fried shrimp were 10/10. Everything else could use a little more salt and pepper but everything was hot and made very well. We were greeted with a smile when we entered and sat immediately. Our server "Jyair" I believe his name was, was so patient and calm and kind. He checked on us just enough and ensured everything was correct. It is very relaxing but upbeat. Music was great for a Sunday brunch. Parking across the street was easy. Pricing was fair. This was our first time but it didn't feel like it and it won't be the last. 4.5/5! read more
Toast was fantastic! They are super friendly and open to substituting an item in your meal, which won big points for me. The inside feels like a quaint, historic home, giving Toast a great brunch vibe. Highly recommend the lyonnaise potatoes and their gravy! read more

Don't eat here if you don't want to hear the servers disrespect you the whole time you're eating here. Don't eat here if you don't want grits that are chewy in some parts and runny the rest. Don't eat here unless you don't mind not enjoying your food. Place was cute though. read more

The food was amazing! I ordered the chicken and waffles, it was really good and well seasoned. I also got the grits and a biscuit on the side, both items were okay, they aren't something I'd reorder. If you plan on sitting in here be sure to try to make a reservation! They stay booked and busy, inside and outside are always filled. This is why I got my order to go. read more

Super small restaurant- be prepared for a wait. Very friendly server. The food was good. I ordered the Bacon, Spinach, and Gruyère Omelette with Toast and side Potatoes. My husband ordered the Toast Burger with Fries and added an egg. The omelette was good but nothing fancy. Toast was really yummy - thick grilled buttery toast. The potatoes were ok - a little oily and needed seasoning. My husband said his burger was great. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food a lot. read more

Great friendly staff, food was just so yummy. But was charged two dollars extra (unexpectedly) for about a tablespoon of cheddar on my grits. That didn't seem really fair. But that wouldn't keep me from going back, because now I know. I just don't need cheese on my grits. read more

Toast is a neighborhood brunch spot. Although this place is tight, it's perfect for catching up with a small group of friends. My two friends and I got there around noon on Sunday. We waited about 20 minutes for a table. Everything on their menu looked amazing! The menu has all the classic breakfast items - omelet, toast, crepe, etc. I had difficulty deciding but eventually went with their Omelette with Ratarouille, Goat Cheese, and Spinach. The food was amazing! The omelet was well-seasoned. The fruits were fresh and sweet. Besides the food, the service was great. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. read more
Great place to get breakfast or brunch in New Orleans. I got the pancake puffs with lemon. I feel like it's more of a sharing plate, but it's one of the items on the menu that popped out to me. The lemon sauce was pretty good, I think I prefer beignets over pancake puffs but again it was too cute not to order. I'll definitely come back and order their savory dishes though. read more

11/2/25 - Visited from out of town and wanted a nice, Sunday brunch. The wait wasn't very long considering how busy they seemed to be. I will say that all the staff appeared a little distressed, although I myself nor any of my party had a negative experience with them. Perhaps it was the rush of people or maybe it was something else. Food was absolutely amazing- no complaints across the board. I was skeptical about the omelette as I am anywhere, however it was actually one of the better omelettes I've enjoyed at a restaurant. Eggs and their in-house jelly were an excellent choice in my opinion, although my party had zero complaints of their hot chocolate and blueberry waffle. The inside appeared to be very nice-we opted to be seated outside. Other than the table being a little wobbly, no complaints! read more

I had a horrible experience here, I wrote a google review in more detail. I bit into the center of my fish and it was cold. I spit it out and broke it up and took pics of the center. Called and said my center was raw and manager wouldn't issue a refund (didn't offer a remake on the meal either). The manager was so rude to me and hung up on my face and defended this by saying "I asked the chef and the chef said it was cooked all the way" then she proceeded telling me her and chef have done this for 20 years... read more

This spot is located downtown by the racetrack, located in a residential area so parking can be a bit hard on busy days. Wait was about 10-15 minutes but there is a local dive bar next door so we went there to kill some time. Service was great and the server who works behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly. Food came out in about 10 minutes after ordering and this was some of the best catfish I've had in a long time! So good that I thought about ordering another one. Would recommend highly, especially if you're visiting, so you can get a feel of the local life! read more

Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way- I'm from Houston. Phew, had to get that off of my chest! Ok, so, as an out of towner, sitting at the bar with a local, here's my honest opinion: this place is fabulous! Let me clarify, the space is tight, the folks casual, the feeling local, and the eats comforting and deliberately diner style delivered. Friendly servers made us feel at home, and the food was just as homey! The Irish coffee is exactly as advertised (wink wink).The pancake puffs (we tried ours with Nutella and lemon curd) were worth any wait, and the toast I tried was exactly as listed. My local girlie states she's never had a bad item here, and I believe her. Local, non-local, this is certainly a spot to try if you're in NOLA! read more
Walked in on a rainy Tuesday for brunch. Got seated at the counter right away. The classic breakfast was alright. It has 2 eggs, bacon, biscuit, and grits. Tried the aebelskiver which was okay - puffed pancake with powdered sugar with your own choice of jam/syrup (got the homemade strawberry). Food was alright, nothing special. There's street parking. You may get lucky like we did and park across the street. Other wise you will be ducked off in the neighborhood.
