This is a great Italian restaurant in the little town of Greenlawn. Interesting diverse Italian menu. A lot of traditional dishes with a modern twist. Four of us went, and we all enjoyed our meals. I started with a Romaine Caesar salad, nicely prepared. For an entree I had Zuppe di Pesce, which was a spectacular mix of nice fresh shrimp, lobster tails, clams, mussels, calamari in a nice slightly spicy tomato sauce. (Oddly, it was not served over pasta as we usually see in the NY area, but with a side of toasted bread. Reminded me more of a San Francisco-type Cioppino than a Zuppe di Pesce . . . but it was excellent!) Though I don't eat gluten-free, I noticed a good number of safe menu selections for those who do! The service was good, and friendly. And the ambiance was very pleasant. I would not hesitate to come back, and certainly would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. read more

well my wife and other females ate here and liked it so my wife wanted me to experience it. Sunday afternoon and the place was quiet and not very busy. we ordered off the lunch and brunch menu. The poached eggs with short rib hash was appealing as was the eggplant parm. Well we got adult bevs and settled in for what i expected to be a great meal. DO NOT GO LATE FOR SUNDAY LUNCH. My poached eggs were cold and hard boiled from sitting, the hash was interesting but could have been Saturday nights left overs, red potatoes were also steam table warm. No breads or muffins were offered as were announced on menu. HO HUM. Bloody Mary was just ok but my wife liked her eggplant with side of pasta. We had to ask for coffee and seconds. Not the expected meal my wife was hoping for. And the art on the walls had mixed reaction between us. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch because Oldfield's down the street doesn't open until 5pm. Really wanted a burger.....not expecting this Italian restaurant to actually have a burger on he menu I went in with different expectations. However, not only did they have a burger on the menu, it was awesome! Cooked perfectly and juicy this totally took care of my craving! Rude hostess and rude waitresses! Visited once and food was okay, but the waitress was rude. Second time, the hostess was short and unhappy to seat us in a table up front when there were many open tables. Waitress was immediately rude and constantly had to call her over to the table for orders and clearing small table. 6Feb2021, 6:00PM; Just picked up 3 takeout meals for $160.- Included Salads appetizers, a Veal Parm entree ; a Veal Scaloppine entree; and A Flounder & Shrimp entree. The salads were just a lot of dried out old Arugula thrown in a dish with some cheese sprinkled on top. The Arugula looks just like the crabgrass that I throw out from my front lawn yard each summer. The Veal was tougher than the soles on the bottom of my shoes; dried out; with about the worst garbage sauces thrown on top. The fish and shrimp dish was so overcooked it was uneatable. The chief who prepared and cooked this either has absolutely no idea of what he/she is doing or really doesn't care about what they slop onto a plate for stupid customers who would pay these prices for this trash. This is definitely not the RUVO Greenlawn Restaurant of old which once prided itself on fine flavored gourmet food. I've lived in the Greenlawn area for more than 40+ years and started eating at RUVO's when it 1st opened up. During this tenure I've eaten there probably more than 50 times. Unfortunately, this place is now just become high priced fodder. I can get better veal and fish dishes for a third of the cost of this garbage at my local pizza joint. This is Italian American cuisine. It's good and priced right. Popular place in Pt. Jefferson Village. We were five people including a child. Our food was good, tasty but not exceptional at all. The consistent quality is a feature. Two of us had shrimp and scallops over risotto which was unfortunately drowned in a too acidic sauce. Another had the grilled salmon that he liked. And one had duck which was very good with a beautiful crispy skin. Too full for dessert. Sometimes I feel its better to have an appetizer and dessert. And sometimes I do just that. I always see recommendations from the "moms group" on Facebook for this place so my husband, mother-in-law and I decided to try it on Saturday night. The service was awful, the first waitress we had was not friendly at all. Our appetizers came before the drinks. The bacon wrapped filet mignon appetizer was a special so we tried that. The bacon was undercooked and the steak was mushy. The waitress didn't even take our food order until after we were done with the appetizer and didn't check to see if the appetizers even came out okay. My mother in law's halibut (also a daily special) was so over cooked that she needed a knife to cut it. I ordered the chicken parmigiana which was also extremely over cooked and rubbery. I never even take the time to leave a review for a restaurant but our bill was over $200 and I just don't think it was worth it at all. read more

our waiter gave us poor service with a nasty attitude. it took a long time to place our order while he was chatting to another waitress at the bar and never once did he come over to see if we needed anything or if our food came out correctly. At the end of our brunch we paid and as we were walking outside to our car the waiter followed us outside and yelled about the tip we had gave him. Tips are for good service and we based it on the service provided. it was very unprofessional and shocking to see the type of employee's that work here given we have been loyal customers. Nice and cozy place and they had live music Which is a plus in my opinion. Our waiter was not nice or mean, just your common generic waiter. The food was good, I had the clam flatbread which was something I've never heard of before. I liked it! And I also had chicken which was pounded, and breaded and served with a salad of arugula,tomatoes and cooked red onion. The dressing was fig something or other and was yummy with a capital Y! The chicken itself was not very flavorful but when eaten w the salad, as a whole was really very good. I had pound cake with fruit for Desert and it was eh. The mashed banana bread on the top wasn't very appetizing in looks and in taste. All in all, I would come back and I do give it a thumbs up. read more

We recently moved into the area and a friend gave us a gift card. Stopped by for Sunday brunch today to use it. Figured we'd need a reservation but we ended up being the only people in the restaurant for the first half hour or so after it opened. Service was good - attentive and quick. Food was hit or miss. I had a Bloody Mary and my wife had a mimosa. Both drinks were good, nicely mixed and good flavor, but full of pulp. Would be a lot better without seeds and pulp in them. My wife had the french toast and I went with the crab benedict. French toast was great - sweet, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The apricot spread was very tart and took away from the flavor of the french toast a bit. Both of our bacon was pretty overcooked and looked like it'd been just reheated but my wife likes it crispy so a win. My crab benedict was alright - I prefer the eggs to be poached about 30 seconds longer so the whites are not so incredibly runny. They seemed a bit undercooked but overall it was ok. Willing to give this place another shot for lunch or dinner in the future but will likely head somewhere else for brunch. read more

We held a wedding rehearsal dinner here on Thursday, June 17. There were about 30 of us. The restaurant was open, but with draperies, they were able to give us a private space. There was live music playing and our guests enjoyed that immensely. The staff was most accommodating and patient. They were very attentive. The food and the service were both incredible. Several guests said they would be going back again on their own. I highly recommend Ruvo! I'm glad that we chose them for this most important event. read more

Had an early dinner here March 13 , this time we brought the kids 8 and 5 years old. We had Todd as a waiter who was outstanding . The dinner was excellent. My wife had some type of salad () and a spinach flatbread. I had the short ribs , the boys shared spaghetti and meatballs , chicken fingers and fries . The food was fresh and delicious as always . We love it here , very comfortable and welcoming . The staff did their best to make sure we were happy. The tables were being sanitized as customers finished and the bathroom was spotless . Today I ordered a flatbread and New England clam chowder. 2 items I very rarely eat, too decent for me, but Ruvo would be a place for this type of craving breakdown lol. First time at Ruvo and it was a pleasant and cozy spot with very friendly staff. I was surprised that it was this crowded for lunchtime which was a good first impression to indicate good food. I had the eggplant parmesan lunch special for $12. There was a sign that advertised how they are known for their $12 daily lunch. I also had the pasta fagioli soup which was absolutely delicious. I like Ruvo! It's off the beaten path and the path I'm referring to is Huntington Village. So tired of the overcrowded "scene" that it's become these days. Ruvo is a charming (though crowded at times) option if you want very good food in a slightly upscale/ hippyish environment. They have great wines by the glass and I really enjoyed their burger. Salads are great too. It's s little warm in the dining room in the hotter months. And that is why I took off one star bc no one wants to sweat while they are eating and drinking wine. At least I don't. Overall a great place. I highly recommend. read more

I love the food at Ruvo. It's always delicious and well-plated. Good size portions, great service, and prices are what you'd expect- not higher or lower than a typical Italian-ish restaurant. Wine list is good, fun cocktails, and always a lot of specials to choose from. I've been going to Ruvo for 11 years, when I first learned of it and I'm sure I will continue to eat here. The only 'complaint' I have, and I feel this way every single time I eat there (for a party of 2), is that the 2-tops are SOO CLOSE to each other. I feel like we are always on top of the next table, overhearing conversations, and sometimes we end up having awkward conversations with our neighboring diners because we are just that close. I ate there last night- had a reservation and was seated at the last of the tables for 2. The ONLY other table for 2 that was occupied was the one right next to us. There were 5 or 6 other tables for 2 along the wall which were empty. By the time we left, another table for 2 had been seated. Again, right next to us even though there were 4 other tables available. The seating is the only reason I don't go to Ruvo more often- I don't understand why the tables for 2 have to be on top of each other! But... I'll be back soon enough :) read more

What a difference a year and a few months makes. The restaurant it's self has been completely updated and it's beautiful. The service was right on and a delight!
