I hadn't been to Ruth's Chris since they closed the downtown Chicago location, so I was excited to make my way back! We made a reservation for this location, and the 3 for $60 deal was definitely calling our name. Parking was easy with plenty of spots available, and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Our server, Raymell, was the best! Polite, attentive, and provided great customer service from start to finish. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the bread and stuffed mushrooms to the stuffed chicken. We also had the creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and of course, the classic cheesecake to finish things off. Everything hit the spot! I love when an oldie but goodie can still deliver. The atmosphere was mellow and relaxed, with the option to catch the games at the bar. A nice way to enjoy a familiar favorite without the downtown hustle. read more

Good & Bad... Went here a few weeks ago. We were seated for dinner in the main dining room with fireplace and a warm ambiance. Food and service was excellent! Delicious warm bread with whipped butter, yummy mushroom side was the perfect accompaniment to the large bone-in ribeye we shared, which the among the best steak I've ever had! Full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. The chef even came out to our table to see if we enjoyed our meal.. and, YES we did! Then more recently I went with a small party for dinner at the same Ruth's Chris, anticipating a similar top-notch experience - NOT! We were seated in a dismal side dining room - no warmth or character, just a dull monochrome room with tables and chairs and a few pieces of confetti sprinkled on the white table cloths to presumably give a more festive note (really???). Each of us got the $60 special and it was truly not up to Ruth's Chris standards. I think the components of the "special" must be of a lower quality than if you order from the regular a la carte menu as it did not compare at all with my previous experience. Previously we were served warm and yummy bread that tasted fresh-baked. This time the bread was served at room temperature. The special $60 special dinner included a salad and house salad I chose was a like they opened a bag of room temperature, grocery store mixed greens and threw on a cherry tomato and a few crouton cubes; bleu cheese dressing had a few chunks of something in it, but there was zero bleu cheese flavor - very blah! The smaller ribeye was cooked to correct Med Rare, but it was very greasy and utterly flavorless (not to be mistaken with their larger a la carte, juicy and flavorful ribeye) Ate only a few bites before I decided it wasn't worth eating. The Brussel sprouts side dish was very charred and swimming in greasy butter and/or bacon grease - just inedible. The 2 grilled shrimp looked pretty served on top of the ribeye, but they were flavorless aside from a kind of vague fishy taste. Garlic mashed potatoes were soppy, and drenched with butter (i.e. not at all fluffy). Chocolate cheesecake for dessert was best part of the meal, and I must say, this one thing was really delicious. Service was nice and helpful, but left us waiting both when we were ready to order and also when done with meal. All in all, this was not a $300+ experience! Buyer beware - Ask to be seated in main dining room (not one of those dreary side rooms). If you are prepared to pay crazy high prices for good food at this restaurant, DO NOT get the $60 special if you want a true Ruth's Chris quality meal. Better to splurge and order a la carte. read more

My first visit to Ruth's Chris...my sisters and I went after visiting mom at the cemetery park for her birthday today. We had reservations, my first impression was wow people are enjoying themselves! Our server Raoil (sp) was fantastic, very attentive and per my sister mixed up some good drinks ! I ordered the Risotto with butter fish crab and lobster delicious but when I say it was a teaspoon of risotto I mean it...it should be called butter fish, crab and lobster in butter sauce. We all enjoyed our dinner and shared some appetizers over all very good. They were out of bone in ribeye which is what I wanted but next time! Thanks for the delicious dessert!! read more

I have been wanting to attend Ravinia FOR YEARS!! My 80 year Sis, and I accomplished that in July, 2026! Over the decades,we immensely enjoyed Ruth Chris' Restaurants!! Once we realized the restaurant was located in Northbrook, we were incredibly EXCITED!! We couldn't wait to tell our kids because they know HOW IMPECCABLE, AND DELICIOUS, Ruth Chris' steaks are!!! Well to our MAJOR disappointment, both filets we had were bland, cold, overcooked!! Unfortunately, we didn't have time to share with our server...we were running late for our show at Ravinia!!!! Of course we didn't tell any of our family or friends because we didn't want the memories they had of R/C tainted!!! Sadly Part of life, LESS QUALITY, increased prices!! P.S I love to send pictures of the meals I enjoyed....I couldn't send one that night!!! read more

We were happy to be back at Ruth Chris Steak House to celebrate Valentine's Day. It is always busy and packed here on this day. Our wait was not bad with a reservation, it was within 10 minutes, and a hostess politely led us to our nice and spacious booth, that had more privacy but still in the main dining area. Our server, Richard, was very professional, attentive, and friendly. His timing was perfect for a busy night like this one, his service was top-notch, making this dinner so relaxed and satisfactory. We ordered two glasses of Benton Lane red wine, Crab Cakes, French Onion Soup, House Salad, Creamed Spinach, 6 oz, Filet with Shrimp, and Lamb Chops. Their steak and lamb chops are among the best in the Chicago Burbs, perfectly charred and slightly crispy on the outside, while tender on the inside, and just juicy and flavorful! There were three double-cut scrumptious lamp chops in my entrée. I could only finish two and took one home, and generously gifted my husband with it. For soup, they only had French Onion Soup for this busy night, so I had to miss my favorite Lobster Bisque. The onion soup was the weakest among all our food in this meal, that's a bit overly salted, and the cheese was a bit thick and hard due to the soup being luke warm. As always, their crab cakes were good, with big lumps of crab meats and very flavorful. Bread was fresh off the oven and piping hot, it was heavenly with butter. Each of us had an individual Symphony Cheesecake served with berries, which was delicious. I also had a cappuccino which was pretty standard. At the end of the meal, each lady got a beautiful long stem rose from the server, that was a nice tradition of this restaurant. The restaurant is located inside the Renaissance Hotel in Northbrook. After the meal, we ventured into the hotel lobby which was packed with happy people, there was even a large happy black and white dog! We had a great time and will be back again! I highly recommend it! read more

Stopped by for happy hour in the bar for a snack. It's walk in and you can sit at the actual bar or in a booth. Great prices like $9 for sliders or meatballs. Small menu but we were able to order off the regular menu as well (we also got spinach for $15 because it's the best here). I believe it's all days but Saturday - we went on a Sunday and it was pretty empty. GREAT service. Will return. read more

The staff was very nice and attentive, we did have to wait a few minutes to be seated but that's ok. It was a little loud but I'll chalk that up to it being a busy Saturday night. The food was very good especially the sweet potato casserole. All in all I would visit again. read more

Was here to celebrate my sis 50th birthday as she has never been to a Ruth's Chris and we enjoyed our service and meal. Although not as good as other locations I've been too in the past, everyone was happy with the flavor and temperature of steaks. It was a pretty busy Saturday night but our server kept up pretty well. We sat in a seperate part of dining room which was dim lit and a little quieter. All in all I would return if in the area. read more

From start to finish, our experience was wonderful! Rich was our server and was one of the best we've had in a while. He made us feel special and was incredibly accommodating beyond expectations. Now the food and drink....really excellent! Items had: brown butter old fashioned, passion fruit martini, solid IPA, Balvenie 14 yr, Benton Ln Pinot Noir...all great. Caesar salad was one of the best ever. Salmon and shrimp, filets, au gratins, mini desserts, etc all delicious. Also... This is one of the few places that gets meat temp right as well! I do not recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere lacks anything to be desired. You can get a better meal at Mortons down the street or better yet head over to the Barn in Highland Park for a livelier better time. The staff is highly offensive and honestly makes you feel unwelcome. The manager Ricki does not know customer service, nor how to handle situations properly. Without going into specifics, I have never been so offended by a manager and restaurant staff in my life. read more

There is a lot of hype around Ruth's Chris. But in a classical, traditional way. There are rumors about dress codes, reservations, and special occasions. They called once or twice to confirm my reservation. It's all a lot for this experience! I've been there twice now. Both weekday times. It's a classy, but plain environment. Everyone is formal and calls me Mr [redacted] because of the reservation info. The menu is very nice, but mostly traditional. I think I'd like more unique or interesting entrees. But that's not their fault. On my first visit, I ordered the ribeye, medium rare. It came out very well-done. It took a long time (way too long) to flag my server down to get it replaced. On my second visit, I shared the porterhouse - it came all pre-cut just like the picture! So fancy! The sides were all very nice - they all had this consistent savory comfort food vibe. Again, not super unique, but good. I'm gonna try this place again. I know what better to expect. It's classy, but not modern classy. Like old timey classy. read more

I had such a fantastic Thanksgiving at Ruth's Chris Steak House! The warm, fresh bread was so delicious. I tried the blueberry mojito which wasn't my favorite, so I sent it back, but everything else totally made up for it. The stuffed chicken was an outstanding choice, full of flavor, and the mashed potatoes were good (just needed a little extra TLC). But the star of the night was the crème brûlée! It was absolutely amazing and the perfect ending to a great meal! read more

Chicago Restaurant Week 2025 is what made me aware of Ruth's Chris Steak House's location in Northbrook. Their participation in Restaurant Week seemed to be a popular choice as there were plenty of people waiting for tables. We are glad we made a reservation although we still had to wait about 10 minutes after the reservation time of 7 pm. The Restaurant Week menu had something for everyone and seemed to be full size portions. I started with the French Onion Soup and my husband had the Caesar Salad. We thought both were good. He ordered the 8 oz filet and I had the 6 oz filet with three shrimp as our main courses. The proteins were cooked as requested. Three sides were offered. My husband chose the Creamed Spinach which was good. I chose the Sweet Potato Casserole. Both my husband and I found it to be too sweet. We expected sugar in the topping but we believe it was also added to the potatoes. If we could do something different we would have gotten the garlic mashed potatoes. We ended the meal with the one dessert option - cheesecake with berries. It was good although we aren't sure what the white topping was. Drinks were extra. I tried a good Pinot Grigio and my husband opted for a soda, The staff was attentive and nice. The restaurant itself seems to be many small rooms attached together. We were seated in what seemed to be room you can rent for events. It had a ceiling projector and screen. While the room was a nice space, it has two large pillars in the middle of the room making it hard to see everyone. Overall, we are glad we gave it a try. The area has no shortage of steak houses so we'll likely go somewhere else if we are doing a dinner where we are open to paying steak house prices. read more

Unfortunately, the hotel in which the restaurant is located had a malfunctioning A/C unit, so dining here was not comfortable on this day, with temperatures causing guests to sweat. The waitress was very apologetic and attentive to extra iced water refills. The blueberry mojito 5 stars. Steak and lobster.... Steak 5 stars (sliced like butter and tasted amazing), The lobster was 4 stars simply due to size. I've had bigger and better for half the price. The taste was good. Garlic mashed potato 5 stars. Creamed spinach 4.5 stars. Caesar salad 4.5 stars. Lobster bisque soup 2 stars. The cherry liquor didn't pair well with a mojito. It needed a little more cream swirled into the soup. Taste was a bit off, my mom gave it 1 star (being we're from the PacNW), but when I tasted I wanted to give it a 3. Would I recommend this venue? Unsure. The cost for steak and lobster was $76 a person. I can also eat a good steak at Longhorn and get out there with a bill under $150, and here, It was more like $380. You'll easily spend $150 per person. read more

I've never been to Ruth's Chris I've always heard mixed reviews this is a restaurant in my hotel. I came down just to get crab cake appetizer because my coworkers said they were good and I wasn't to hungry. The crab cakes were actually the worst I've ever had they were good and did not taste fresh and I was definitely disappointed because the price was outrageous for them to taste prepared and warmed up. I only gave them a 2 because of decor. I only asked for a water no ice with a straw the waiter gave me a dirty straw that was sticky. I only ate 1 of my crab cakes and a bite of the other one because the taste was dissatisfying. The waiter asked me did I want it to be box and I told him no I did not enjoy them and that they weren't good, and he just threw it out and gave me my receipt which I felt like there could've been more attentive to satisfy me after spending $30 on something I did not finish. read more

Dined here for a birthday and anniversary. Excellent NY strip and filet, with superb service.

Haven't been to the north side Ruth's Chris since 2011. Huge difference in the new location and in a good way. There is ample parking in the lot along with a complimentary valet. The ambiance and feel of the new location are extremely classy. It's best to dress a little more than casual to match the vibe. All the ladies at the front of the house were really nice. Our server was as well. I've been to RC numerous times, and this location did not disappoint. Steak and Stuffed chicken breasts were both juicy with so much flavor. The companion mashed potatoes is the best companion. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend!! read more

Listen this one hurts. I've enjoyed and defended Ruth Chris for years. But I have to tell you this most recent experience was just awful. And not just me. Others in the restaurant had bad experiences as well. First off, delayed bread service. When asked the waiter said "oh no one brought yall bread". Do you see any on the table. Drink service was just as bad. Appetizers service wise was fine. However please take the calamari off the menu. Or change how it's prepared. 2/10. Shrimp cocktail was fine. The family and i were there to celebrate a number of significant events. We've eaten at a ton of fine dining restaurants. Ruth Chris has always been a go to for us. 3 out of the four meals had a salad. Needless to say the salad never got delivered. Steaks weren't flavorful as normal. Kinda dry. Sweet potato casserole, dry. Garlic mashed potatoes, dry. Creamed spinach and Brussels sprouts were decent. Once the manager was notified that the salads we ordered never arrived she apologized and promised to make it up to us. Well complimentary desserts when 3 out of the 4 meals came with a dessert doesn't count. Not to mention we were charged for salads that we never got. It saddens me because we've loved this place for years. Not sure we'll be back. But I really hope they get it together. read more

So for my birthday, my fiance took me to my favorite steakhouse on planet earth: Ruth Chris. It's been a hot minute since I've been here, let alone this location, because if you are a human, currently living in this economy and/or live in an environment where money grows on trees, eating at Ruth Chris garners a visit on special occasions only which is why it would be most appropriate on my bday. Anywaysss. When we came in, it wasn't too busy and we were seated at our reservation time (shout out to my fiance for the reservation and for the follow through!!), we were at an adorable table that was decorated with little celebration confetti and a little birthday menu and a hand written birthday card which was a nice touch. The ambiance was romantic and the vibe was immaculate. Our waiter, Brittani, was not only the cutest but she was so helpful. From helping us with our cocktails, to our bottle of delicious red wine (Dao) and our food (a delicious Cesar salad, mushrooms with crabmeat and the porterhouse for 2), she was amazing. She was very prompt, always returning to fill our wine glasses and ensuring that we had everything we needed. Her customer service was fantastic as she was kind, personable and always willing to help. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we will continue to come back here. The food was delicious, the steak was succulent and the wine and drinks are *chefs kiss*. Shoutout to Brittani to being the coolest and her awesome customer service. The price is up there when you come here but it's always worth it. You pay for quality and that's we got. Thanks for making birthday one for the books and an extremely full and happy tummy! Bravo Ruth Chris, Bravo! read more

Came here right as they opened on the weekend for our anniversary. We were treated equally special by the staff and food was good. It was early so it was a very relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend for a simple dinner. It's located inside the hotel which we decided to enter through since the front steps into the restaurant is not accessible for strollers. There's a big lot to park and it's easy to get in and out of. Will definitely come again for drinks and happy hour. read more

It is amazing how different locations of one chain can be. We have not dined at the Ruth's Chris Northbrook location in more than a few years, but it remains an outstanding steakhouse. Everyone in our party had a steak - 4 different ones. Each was perfectly cooked, wonderfully seasoned, and all delicious. Our sides and starters were all excellent, from the Calamari and Ruth's Chopped Salad to the Au Gratin Potatoes and Creamed Spinach. Our server, Rick, was wonderful - our party was old friends catching up. He didn't hover, but was always checking on our food and if he could get us anything else. The manager came by to check a couple of times as well. The decor, dark and "clubby" was clean and well maintained, although fairly old. Overall a great dining experience. read more

Good place to have dinner. They have a happy hour from 3 to 6 so appetizers are on discounted price. The bar can get crowded. The food is good. The bartender and staff are good. It's nice to get away for a little while. Happy hours a good way to do it ,thank you Ruth-chris read more

Ehhhhh---first off my waiter Roald, fabulous. Now for the food. I think having everything swimming in butter...really bad idea. It is not 1950, people don't want to add 2000 calories for no reason. The steak, crab cakes and brussel sprouts--all good--WITHOUT three pounds of butter. Prices are-just out of line. $62 for a filet ALL ALONE--that if I must be honest was about the same as the one I got from Jewel for $5.99 on sale. I know I know that is how these steak places are but---and one more "unhealthy" thing. I got a steak sandwich came with fries. Wanted to sub out for mashed. $5 extra. Gibson's, Mortons will all do that. Sorry RC...not a fan. read more

Wonderful service, wonderful food, and they did a great job decorating for the special event.

My best friend and I kicked off our bestie staycation with dinner at Ruth's Chris in Northbrook, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. From valet to the host and security, everyone made us feel welcomed. Our waiter, Luis, provided outstanding service and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The manager, Rocco, was kind and attentive, he personally stopped by our table to check on us and did the same with neighboring tables, which really showed his genuine hospitality. We also appreciated Humberto, the busser, who was attentive and helpful throughout our meal. Customer service here was truly a 10/10. This was my first time at Ruth's Chris, but it will not be my last. The food was delicious as well; the only small suggestion I'd offer would be to add heavy whipping cream to the mashed potatoes. Otherwise, everything was perfect. read more
