Excellent food! I ordered the grill plate with skirt steak, but the smashed red potatoes stole the show. Beth makes the best spicey margarita on the north shore if not the entire Chicago area!

    Yum! Flat Bread!

Ricky Sausage here with your report from the field - or rather, The Lawn. The sun has set on my fine day in Chicago with my wife, Beaky Sausage. A long day of worship to The Bean has left me peckish. I waltz into the double doors of The Lawn with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. The melody of harmonica wafts into every orifice - eyes, ears, nose, etc. I am here. I am home. Today I dine with my fine family of Illinoisians (Illinoisers? Illinoise-boyz? I won't look it up.). We sup in preparation for the earth-shattering performance by Hoopla and Einstein's Brain. It would be foolishness to attend such a performance on an empty stomach. One would surely die. We begin our meal with a round of drinks, primarily espresso martinis. An energetic and classy start to the meal! Biggie and Beaky have some keen insights to share. Beaky speaks elegantly (martini glass in hand), "It's strong. The more you drink, the less it tastes strong." Biggie nods sagely and adds, "It tickles my perennial." I have one as well and would remark it as unforgettable. Not bad! But not memorable. We share a round of appetizers, dining as kings and queens. The first appetizer to arrive is the flat bread. Jardinera Sausage takes a bite and analyzes for a moment before noting, "I think it was a 7.7. I didn't think was worth an 8, but more than a 7.5 so I split the difference as much as I could. It was a weirdly good combinations of flavors that you wouldn't expect. I would order again. Hot honey is enough. It had cracker-thin crust - a little soggy - it could have been done a little better. " The gluten free bread comes out next. Chella Sausage eyes light up and begin to tractor beam the bread. "I asked for a gluten free alternative for the spread and such. It came out warm!" She holds her hands over it like a campfire. I am worried that she will burn herself, but she never does. The Bean protects her. While chewing our morsels, Windy City Sausage pulls a waiter aside and casually requests a song on the harmonica. The waiter casually pulls a harmonica out of his pocket and casually plays a 1 minute ditty in the middle of a crowded restaurant. With the self assurance of a Roman general, he ends with "That's it, thank you." He puts the harmonica back in his pocket and walks away from his dumbfounded audience. This experience merits 5 stars unto itself. I will tell my grandchildren about it. As our collective lives flash before our eyes, knowing that we have apexed and nothing will ever compare in the years to come, our food comes out. Another apex awaits! Sisyphus eat your heart out! Windy City has ordered the Bolognese (not to be confused with bologna). She pauses for a moment, consuming the meal with her eyes before her mouth. She then proceeds to consume the meal with her mouth before consuming the meal with her stomach. While consuming the meal with her mouth, she notes, "It [The Bolognese] is good. It's a lot of words. It's not a very attractive word." Biggie and Beaky have once again coordinated on their ingestive attack. The she crab soup! Biggie is philosophically consternated: "Why is it called the she crab? What is she? Too much crab, not enough she. Tastes like an it/that crab." Beaky's focus takes another route. "It's making me sweaty. Definitely Beaky hot, which is appealing. I have sweat through my clothes. 2/10." Biggie has also partaken in the holy sacrament of the Mac and Cheese (made holy by the comparative shape of a Macaroni noodle and The Bean). "Ohhhh. The Mac and Cheese looks sizzlin'. It's the classic Macaroni pasta shape that you like to see. First I'm seeing non-Macaroni noodle, then I'm intrigued by the challenge, then I'm pleased because the real Macaroni is in the sauce. The Macaroni made me sneeze!" I note each diner's experience meticulously - a slave to thrill of reviewing. I rest to eat my own Cheeseburger. It is an American classic and I dream of Uncle Sam as I chew. I salute the cows and the troops and my forefathers that made this burger possible. "Gaw bess Amerga," I erupt with a mouthful of food. Time is the swift ever-rushing river and it has swept us once more. We are nearly late to see Hoopla! Is it the restaurant's fault? Jardinera had some opinions, vehemently shouting, "They did get busier, but it had been at least 30 minutes since we ordered, might be longer. I'm a 1 for anger, life is too short. If I hadn't ate all day, I'd be a 6." Biggie was out for blood. "They took criminally long." It's a shrimp-eat-shrimp world out there and we, The Sausage family, will be the last shrimp standing. Tonight we flee and rest to see Hoopla and Einstein's Brain, but tomorrow we will be coming for you, shrimp reader. We will be coming for you with the blessing of The Bean and you best be prepared. Thank you, The Mawn, for filling our vacuous war sacks! May other shrimp beware.

Soooo, this is a hidden right here tucked away at the Wilmette Golf Course. LOVE this place, the food is off the charts, the service is amazing. The atmosphere is just fun.. staff is super friendly and attentive. We have been through the salads, Caesar w/ salmon is a favorite. Soups are the bomb, She Crab is our favorite. Mussels are spot on and served with plenty-o-delicious warm bread for your dipping pleasure. Our go-to moves are the fish sammich which is just amazing, I actually take an extra one home for later consumption. The Prime Rib sammich is insanely tasty and might be the best damn thing going... even though it's outrageous @ $37 they off set it w/ $4.87 for an ice cold bottle of bier! Fried chicken is so different and delicious, hot chix sammich amazing. St Louis ribs and chicken wings are wonderful... the Chef and team here is L-E-G-I-T. Just had to grab a quick burger to go and that egg & bacon combo will soon be scarfed by my son

Nice ambiance that's casual enough to feel comfortable bringing my kids, but upscale enough for the evening to feel like a nice night out. Loved the appies - we got the cauliflower hummus and deviled eggs - highly recommend both. As for entrees, chicken sandwich was perfectly fried crispy with not too much breading, on a biscuit. Fries were just ok. They were unfortunately out of the schnitzel I wanted to try so I had the halibut special instead. The fish was perfectly cooked, but the composition of the fish was rather confusing - the lobster bisque-like sauce was fantastic on its own, but overpowered the delicate halibut. The crispy yuca strips went perfectly with the fish, but the dish was finished off with lots of shishito peppers - again, way too overpowering. I would have preferred a much subtler vegetable. Kids Mac and cheese was fantastic, with a hint of what I think was thyme. The drink list was heavily spirit -forward. I ended up getting a sangria which was good, but my husband thought the old fashioned was terrible. The balance of spirit vs bitters was completely off, plus it was served over tiny ice instead of a large cube. To top it all off, the cherry was muddled.

As expected, the restaurant was packed, both inside and in the beautiful courtyard. Families filled the dining room, with children of all ages at about 90% of the tables. The team at Pomeroy has been so consistent and professional, that all of our dishes were delivered at a perfect and steady pace, and qualities remained high. Although we got a different server each time we went, they were all very welcoming, friendly, and attentive.  This time, Carlisle did such a wonderful job even though she was super busy, and she wished me a happy Mother's Day several times to make sure that my day was special.  I must mention that the friendly hostess greeted me with well wishes too, and said happy Mother's day again when we left. We had noticed that they had replaced the couch in front of the courtyard fireplace with more tables.  Who could blame them when they had so many patrons to seat.  However, the courtyard still looked gorgeous. Now on to the food and drinks.  I had a mocktail Bleu 75 ($13) that's my favorite, my husband had a glass of chardonnay ($17), our daughter had a Le Spritz Strawberry ($16).  We shared an order of Sea Scallops ($23) and a Warm Tomato Tarte ($19).  I had my go-to dish which was the Mediterranean Sea Bass ($38), I loved the seared skin that was crispy on the edges. Husband and Daughter each ordered a Spring Halibut ($92 for 2) from the Mother's Day menu.  We ordered 2 Strawberry Crème Brulee ($28 for 2), and I shared 1 with my husband.  I also had a cappuccino ($6). The check came up to $283.05 before tips (they add a 3% surcharge to each guest check, which may be removed upon request, we didn't).  As always, our dinner was very enjoyable and it's worth the money.  I had a very happy Mother's Day dinner, and it ended a wonderful weekend with high notes!  We will keep returning!

The menu has changed since they originally opened probably a year or so ago. Which is also great to see. We did order two appetizers, three entrées and one dessert to share amongst three people. Everything was super fresh and super delicious. We are definitely coming back here. We honestly did not expect it to be this great but it truly was impressive. What made the night even more memorable and fantastic was the incredible service from Michael D. Michael D needs to train other servers. Perfectly tender with a light batter and served with both a house marinara and lemon aioli. Personally I LOVED the lemon aioli but the marinara not so much. I was just expecting more of a robust flavor from it. I chose my main from their 2 course lunch which is a pretty damn good deal. I chose the Baby Gem Salad and their Siena Smashburger and I knew I made a wise decision. The Gem Salad was actually the perfect lunch size and the burger...whoa. I know my burgers and this one was a good smash burger. It wasn't 'glammed' up like some burgers which I appreciated. Just the right amount of sauce and simple condiments. Next menu item...the Prosciutto and Fig Pizza. Ok today I learned that Bar Siena has major Neapolitan pizza game. The marriage of flavors drive me crazy. The difference maker on this pizza was the fact that they used real figs. Not fig preserve or fig jam but the real deal. Everything about this pizza was a home run. The crust, the toppings and even the arugula! I'm not a fan of arugula as I find it to be a little too pungent but I don't know what they did but this was so smooth and that pungent flavor was absent. We brought a very large party here back in December, and we wanted to come back because we wanted to treat ourselves to some very excellent food. However, it was mediocre. And for the cost? I'm not sure I can see us coming back. Three of us ordered the creamy angel hair lemon and we couldn't taste the lemon. It was bland. My teen ordered the Sienna Burger, she took two bites and said she didn't like it. She said there's no crunch in the veggies, something wrong with the tomato, she's looking for a good burger and this one isn't it. For the only burger in the menu? It should wow people. My other teen had the only winner of the evening, the Penne with vodka sauce. For appetizers we had the burrata, I've had this in other occasions, and tonight it just didn't taste the same. The apricot was more bitter notes. The Octopus was okay. Someone either changed the ingredients, or there's a new chef who doesn't know how to replicate good recipes, or management changed things. Whatever it is, I'm just not sure we will be back. For five people it was about $250.
