Beef tenderloin and lobster ravioli special

I have not been here since it changed from Michael's to Aboyer; nice remodeling on the inside and the food is amazing as always. The best deal is the three choices for $72. I had the special for dinner with the chicken liver moose as an appetizer and the chocolate tart for dessert.

Came here for the first time for a Sunday evening early dinner during restaurant week with the intention of trying out the restaurant menu. Luckily, I made reservations because even though it was early, the entire place was filling up by the time we were finished. They have a small parking lot, however due to their location, you can use the bank parking lot as well, especially on a Sunday. If you're familiar with Chef Michael, that is great and every reason to come here as he has been a staple in French cuisine on the North Shore for decades. For our group 2 of us did choose the restaurant week menu and one of us did not, and it did not disappoint. Service was absolutely on point and very attentive all night. Everything was super delicious. Well timed out great proportions and well worth every penny. If I had one criticism, it would be the steak frites because of the presentation. It seemed like everything just got thrown on the plate as opposed to there being a rhyme or reason to the pile. I would definitely come back here again, and I think this is worth the visit for French food in the suburbs without having to deal with the drive the parking or the city taxes.

They have great happy hours and the bartender is awesome. We've been here for dinner and it was excellent.

Restaurant week helps me discover places I would have never known existed. A couple of friends and I made reservations for this quaint French restuarant. There was plenty of street parking available. We were seated once right away and asked of our option of sparkling, tap or bottled water. Our server was very attentive and it's true what they say with fine dining never let your guests water cup get empty. I ordered from their restaurant week menu and had a three course meal consisting of Potato Perigord Truffle Soup, top Sirloin Steak with Bearnaise sauce and fries, and for dessert creme brulee. The soup had me from the beginning it was so delicious and I love how it was served in a cappuccino mug made for easy consumption. The steak was served over fries and I was worried my fries would be soggy but they held up. And lastly for dessert the creme brulee was exquisite. The custard was smooth consistency. I had a wonderful experience all around.

Tuna/ Salmon Tartare with Rosemary/Olive Toast!

We were welcomed when we arrived and promptly seated. There were four of us, two being new to Aboyer. There was Happy Hour at the time so we ordered wine and appetizers for half price. Everyone loved their choices, escargot, corn and truffle soup, a slider. We also enjoyed the rainbow trout, the tuna and salmon tartare, and the pate plate. Service was excellent with no rush! Staff Is very friendly and their menu is quite varied! Can't wait to return!!

My husband and i booked last minute reservations here for restaurant week. It's a small little French restaurant and it was thoroughly packed. When you walk in they offer you coat check which is really nice so you don't have to worry about it in this tight little space. We got seated but then it took THIRTY minutes to get water. There were people behind us that got seated after us and water and their food orders taken before we even got service. The food was good. My husband got the escargot and I got the potato soup as our appetizers. I loved the soup especially because it was so cold outside and it just warms you up. We both got the steak which was very tender. I got the chocolate soufflé which I wasn't crazy about. Overall if the service we got was better I would come back but I don't think it was fair how we were treated.

    Cote de Porc

We had a nice meal at Aboyer. The food was delicious. The pork chop and steak frites were filling and tasty. The sauces on each was delicious. The Cote porc sauce is heavy, but not over-powering. I'll enjoy it in an omelette tomorrow morning. The white fish with mushroom sauce was sublime. The service was attentive and competent without being overbearing. It was just right. The place has around 15 tables in a small space, but the noise level was easy. A nice experience.

We had such an incredible anniversary dinner at Aboyer, located in Winnetka. Each dish was executed perfectly and we couldn't get enough! It's probably one of my favorite dining experiences in Chicago. I can't say enough great things about Aboyer and if you're not in the Winnetka area, it's absolutely worth the drive!

Lyonnaise salad- needed dressing, lacking flavor
    Betty C.

We haven't been here in a while - since before it was split into Aboyer and Silencieux (which is no longer) and we were pleased that the dining room was larger, and one open space instead of cut into two. Our server seemed a little off that night, not sure if she is always condescending, was in a bad mood for other reasons, or irritated that two of the four of us arrived 15 minutes late. Whatever the reason was her style was a little less than nice and exuded irritation. We had drinks which are priced in the Winnetka stratosphere ($$) and my French 75 was almost warm but I dared not return it fir fear of her reaction. We had the starter of eight little stuffed gruyere gougeres for $10 which are delicious and we knew these from past wine dinners. Highly recommend those. Three of the four ordered the beet salad and although quite pretty it was really lacking dressing and we had to order balsamic vinegar and oil to amp up the flavor. My Lyonnaise salad was disappointing compared to all other restaurants preparations I've had. It lacked punch, was somewhat dry in terms of dressing, although the egg was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately overall it really seemed to lack the flavor that is typical of this type of salad. It was bland. Salt and pepper didn't help much. The sirloin steak with fries was seasoned well, and fairly tender. The fries were lukewarm at best and we did not complain about those either. The special of the day soft-shell crab with a stuffed zucchini flower was tasty, and fresh. My salmon was absolutely perfectly cooked - a nice crispy sear on top and meltingly tender inside with a perfect amount of seasoning. It needed a little more of the mustard sauce which was delicious, however I figured why be a pig and also why irritate the server asking for more! It was hands down the best dish on the table. Three of our party really wanted dessert so they made the mistake of ordering two of the same thing - the chocolate hazelnut cake. They were the last 2 pieces we were told. One was poorly cut, both had an overly gelatinous chocolate layer and were underwhelming. The chocolate hazelnut cream did taste good, but the cake also seemed a little dry. All in all it was an off night for the server. We will go back when we see the lamb shank on one of the weeknight specials.

Went during restaurant week! It was the place to be. Food was delicious. Service was amazing. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and nice. Cute place to go on a date or out with friends. Beautiful place to go.

Party of 5 out for dinner Started out with excellent craft cocktails that were delicious, then ordered a few appetizers for the table that were so good we ordered a 2nd plate of mussels. Then moved onto the entrees 1 Lamb Ragout 2 steak frites and 2 steak Au Poivre all the steaks were amazing never thought that you could make Hanger steak so tender and of course the sauce's are Fantastic here due to the fact that you have an actual master chef of many years and the best part is $39 you can't beat it unless you go to a steakhouse to spend $80 per steak. Ended with 2 dessert orders due to the fact that we were all stuffed. Bottom line great place Fantastic food.

As expected, the restaurant was packed, both inside and in the beautiful courtyard. Families filled the dining room, with children of all ages at about 90% of the tables. The team at Pomeroy has been so consistent and professional, that all of our dishes were delivered at a perfect and steady pace, and qualities remained high. Although we got a different server each time we went, they were all very welcoming, friendly, and attentive.  This time, Carlisle did such a wonderful job even though she was super busy, and she wished me a happy Mother's Day several times to make sure that my day was special.  I must mention that the friendly hostess greeted me with well wishes too, and said happy Mother's day again when we left. We had noticed that they had replaced the couch in front of the courtyard fireplace with more tables.  Who could blame them when they had so many patrons to seat.  However, the courtyard still looked gorgeous. Now on to the food and drinks.  I had a mocktail Bleu 75 ($13) that's my favorite, my husband had a glass of chardonnay ($17), our daughter had a Le Spritz Strawberry ($16).  We shared an order of Sea Scallops ($23) and a Warm Tomato Tarte ($19).  I had my go-to dish which was the Mediterranean Sea Bass ($38), I loved the seared skin that was crispy on the edges. Husband and Daughter each ordered a Spring Halibut ($92 for 2) from the Mother's Day menu.  We ordered 2 Strawberry Crème Brulee ($28 for 2), and I shared 1 with my husband.  I also had a cappuccino ($6). The check came up to $283.05 before tips (they add a 3% surcharge to each guest check, which may be removed upon request, we didn't).  As always, our dinner was very enjoyable and it's worth the money.  I had a very happy Mother's Day dinner, and it ended a wonderful weekend with high notes!  We will keep returning!

However, when we entered the owner, I assume, didn't even ask for my name and insisted we sit in a four top directly adjacent to the women's restroom. I asked if we could have a different table, considering we had made a reservation, which again he did not acknowledge, but insisted that all the tables were reserved. To be clear, no one else came into the restaurant from the time we sat down to our 6:30 reservation. They close at 8:30 - I think it's saying something that no one was coming in after 6:30 pm on a Saturday. Strike one. He then asked if we wanted something to drink... I asked for an Aperol spritz... he "made one" but it clearly was made with flat prosecco. I let it go. The recommended bacon wrapped scallops were three tiny scallops for $18. They were okay, but from a bygone era, and not made well enough to justify the cost. We chose to "upgrade" to French onion soup... big mistake. It came out at a million degrees, was clearly made with mozzarella cheese and tasted like a salt bomb. I'm a big fat man, and I could barely eat it. Even as the mains came, it was still steaming on a summers day. Strike two. As for the main, I was already angry and soured by the experience. My wife and I don't go out much, as we have a baby, and it's all the more infuriating when you have such a terrible experience. The duck was okay, but the skin tasted of gas from the broiler. The "Florentine" potatoes were weird, and you couldn't choose any other preparation of potato... also weird when the entrees are $40+. Like, wtf, you can't make a mashed potato? It's clear they batch cook the "potato of the day (I've never heard of such a thing in my entire life)" and can't be bothered to cook to order. My wife's steak cut was full of gristle. When they bussed the table next to us, I overheard and saw the presumed owner and member of the waitstaff move "unused" wine glasses from a dirty table to a newly set up table. He literally said, they didn't use them. These people ate, coughed, etc with these "clean" glasses. Disgusting. Strike a million. Needless to say, we didn't get dessert. It is clear this is a "well loved" restaurant, especially by its patrons of an elderly age. As a result, I think the ownership simply does not care about new patrons. They are content to serve the same people who have been coming from the 80s. For the price point, it is unacceptable. Our server was okay. He didn't ask if we were celebrating anything, which I also thought was odd, but so be it. When he asked how we thought the food was, we said it was "eh." There was no attempt to see how it could have been better.

The restaurant is above the Sophia steakhouse, and within seconds of being up the stairs, you understand what the restaurant is trying to present. Class, ambiance, and moody vibes are the name of the game. It felt like eating in a French manor on a rainy night surrounded by the aristocracy. So obviously, I felt right in place. The lighting was gorgeous, and the views of the city right outside the window were the ideal backdrop for this meal. I ordered an imported cab, which was full-bodied and paired nicely with all that we ordered. The restaurant week menu was catered for you to purchase off the à la carte menu, which was fine because it was worth it. It's a $60 deal with an app, an entree, and a dessert. However, the portion sizes were more than adequate for each of these courses. For my opener, I ordered the duck confit, which was tender, flavorful, and, might I add, gorgeously plated as every dish was. I am not really a traditional duck guy, but I loved it. From there, the piece de resistance of the meal for me came out (off the à la carte menu), the french onion soup. I'm not even fronting when I say this was the second best I've had in the city (just behind Gretel). It was sweet, savory, and super cheesy as all french onion soups should be. From there, the branzino came out, which was tender in the right places, flaky in the right places, and had an amazing sauce and presentation. Similar to duck, I am not an avid seafood eater, so I have to trust a place before ordering it, and I'm glad I did here. It was also massive. I ended the evening with the creme brulee, which, if you weren't in the know, is my favorite dessert ever. This one was GOOD, and huge, so I was living. Service was super helpful, efficient, and attentive. No complaints!

Highlight was the French onion soup and the fries that accompany the steak frites. The salad and dessert were fine, but not memorable. Some things to note: -the bread service (baguette with butter) is not free, but it was positioned like it would be. That was kinda off putting when I saw the bill at the end (about $5) -the steak used in the steak frites was pretty tough, overcooked (asked for medium, came out close to well done), and wasn't a high quality piece of meat. Totally get why since 3 courses for $48 isn't that bad, and the French onion soup is typically $15 -we were sat promptly at our reservation time, but when we left the waiting area was absolutely packed TLDR, I'll come here for drinks and the French onion soup, and skip out on the rest.

The drinks are also very expensive, and we found the steaks to be tough and dry. The Niçoise salad was awful, and not at all what we expected. It was drowning in dressing and the combination of anchovies and tuna did not work. It was also quite obvious that the tuna was not seared properly. I did think the roast chicken was good, and the fries were by far the best part of the meal. We went to several fine restaurants over the past few days to celebrate a milestone birthday, and La Grande Boucherie was the absolute worst in terms of value and quality of food.
