    Whole Large Dungeness Crab
    Joshua Q.

Bob Chinn's is a staple from my childhood. It was a wonder why it took me so long to write a review. Is it as good as I remember it, let's find out: Ambiance Bob Chinn's Crab House has a big dining space. They have a salad bar, and the decor is reminiscent of a tiki setting. They have wash stations throughout the restaurant, which are convenient for cleaning your hands after handling shellfish. The decor seems similar to when I went there as a younger person. Service I really enjoyed the service. The whole establishment was pretty friendly and our waiter made sure our drinks were never empty. The food came out at a pretty good pace. Food Some of the items I grew up with are no longer on the menu. Here is the stuff we ordered: Black mussels appetizer The garlic wine sauce we got for the mussels was delicious. The sauce went great with the garlic rolls. The mussels were meaty and we did not find a bunch of "unfresh ones" which can happen with shellfish Grouper The grouper itself was fresh and tasted perfect. I would recommend getting this or any of the other fishes to be their main course. I got it grilled and it had a nice delicate taste and texture. Stone crab claws The claws had a subtle but sweet taste to them. They are served chilled. The restaurant does a good job of having the shells cracked. The sauce brings a bright citrus flavor to the crab. Dungeness crab The crab was cooked with butter. It also had a subtle sweet flavor as well. I was a little disappointed that it did not come with the innards but I can understand why people might not like it (it does not look appealing). We got the crab steamed with garlic. Crabmeat vermicelli This dish is one of my favorite dishes. The dish has a nice sweetness due to the sauce. The vermicelli had some scrambled eggs with it which helps fill out the dish. Overall This is still one of my favorite restaurants. Though there are some changes I enjoyed the freshness of the dishes and friendliness of the wait staff. I would recommend going to Bob Chinn's Crab House if you have a hankering for some seafood.

Such a fun, lovely atmosphere in which to celebrate a birthday with family around a big table with a lazy Susan in the middle. Started with addictive garlic rolls, crabmeat vermicelli (my favorite), and calamari. For dinner, we had a variety of dishes ranging from a hamburger to blackened grouper and crab legs. Everything was delicious! Service was good.

For over 30 years, my daughter has wanted to celebrate her birthday dinner only at Bob Chinn's! It's easy to see and taste why: everything is 10,000/10 for best tasting gumbo with huge chunks of fish, perfectly spiced, egg rolls, outstanding crab vermicelli, must have grilled swordfish, filet mignon, etc oh and for sure his special famous Mai Tai cocktail! Though it is a 1 hour drive, it is so worth it & always feels like coming home with the beautiful clean festive familiar surroundings and exemplary staff. Our are eyes usually bigger than our stomachs so we bring home lots of fabulous leftovers to munch on the next day! Honestly, always a hit for a fabulous memorable dinner evening at Bob Chinn's!

Trifecta with side of green beans and coleslaw

I have visited Bob Chinn's a few times over the years, but I did not remember it very well. My husband and I recently came back with our family to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday, and we all had such a great experience. The restaurant wasn't too busy in a fun when we arrived, and even though we were seated in a very unusual spot in the dining room next to a sink, it actually became a running joke at the table and did not take away from the night. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and great at checking in without hovering. We started with two appetizers: the fried calamari ($18) and the steamed little neck clams ($15). The calamari was perfectly crispy and not greasy at all. I did not try the clams myself, but the rest of the family ate them quickly and said they were fresh and flavorful. Everyone ordered something different for their entree, and there were compliments all around. I chose the stuffed jumbo shrimp with garlic pasta ($30), and it was outstanding. The shrimp were huge and packed with well-seasoned crab, and the pasta had a rich garlic flavor that paired perfectly with the seafood. They also plated plenty of lemon, which I loved because a squeeze of fresh lemon juice made everything taste even better. I also chose red potatoes as my side which were cooked well. My husband ordered the trifecta ($40), which came with an 8 oz prime rib steak, scallops, and shrimp in the shell. He enjoyed his food and said everything was perfectly cooked, though he made the hilarious mistake of eating the shrimp shell and was confused why he didn't like the shrimp as much as he normally does, since he didn't realize at first he should have peeled it off haha! He also got green beans and coleslaw has is sides and the green beans were his favorite because they were so buttery! Overall, it was a wonderful dinner and a great place to celebrate a special occasion. I would definitely return.

My husband was craving Bob Chinn's and I was excited that they have a separate GF menu as of last summer. We were able to secure a 5:30pm reservation. The server asked if there were any allergies at the table. I informed her I was celiac/gluten free. She indicated the bread was not GF and also they do not have a dedicated fryer for the fries. I ordered the veggie sushi roll as an app and they even had GF soy sauce! For my entree, I had the PEI black mussel pasta and they also have a GF cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious!! The server was fantastic and also very knowledgeable regarding GF. Hopefully one day they will have GF bread and a dedicated fryer.

It's been a while since I've been here, but every time I step in, the line lanes remind me of being at Disney. Lol. There are things I didn't recall: how spacious each of the dining areas are, the jumbo tank of live lobsters, and the extensive drink list. Things I did recall from my previous visits: the signature garlic rolls, always served in a heavy pool of butter, and plentiful menu. Our bread basket was staling though, which was a let down! :( My ahi tuna was tasty, and I chose the char grilled preparation with grilled onions on top. Quite a few side selections are available, like coleslaw, potatoes, etc. I chose white rice and green beans. Hubs got the tilapia and seemed to enjoy it, though the portion was a little smaller than he expected all around. Kiddos enjoyed the kid menu options and got favorites like pepperoni pizza (likely frozen) and a hearty cheeseburger. Thanks for the complimentary mini scoop of vanilla ice cream too! I would pass on the key lime pie. It was very mediocre and still kind of frozen, and I wanted my $10 back. Not worth the calories. On a final note, our waitress Nichol was particularly pleasant and attentive. Props to her! Considering the food vs expectations, I'd give it a 2.5 stars rounded up to a 3.

We moved to Georgia about 8 years ago and had to try it since this was one of our favorite restaurants. Wow best meal of the weekend. The interior was exactly the way I remembered but completely renovated exactly as it was. New signs, tables, lighting, chairs etc. great job. Don't change anything but renovate exactly the way it was. Had the famous mai Tai which was a bit watered down but still as I remembered. Started with the gumbo and raw oysters. Gumbo exactly the way I remembered. Delish! The raw oysters were so fresh absolutely no smell of fish. Fresh! Huge oysters! The garlic rolls were delicious. Ordered the blue crab claws and hubby had the filet, lobster and scallops. Everything was delicious. The steak, lobster, and scallops all cooked to perfection. Crab claws were small but tasty. The Cole slaw and potatoes were also very good. Also ordered the luau cake, it's light but good.

Started out with garlic roll. That was tasty. The server was nice and fast We all got some different meals. We all enjoyed our items. There was shrimp , fish, and more. We had the mia tia it was tasty but very sweet. Did not taste like more than sugar.

King crab Carbonara - Tuesday Specials
    Dojo A.

Got to try this place again as I'm here for business and came in with friends. And they had a Tuesday Special menu and this dish just caught my eye and attention - KING CRAB CARBONARA. I've never seen a dish like this ever on a menu so I just had to try it coz the description on the menu was very enticing!! Lo and behold - this dish exceeded my expectations!! The pasta was cooked nicely, I would have preferred it a tad more al dente (like in Italy) but still wasn't overcooked but the overall flavor was spot on. It was pure umami where you can taste the savory briny flavor and sweetness of the crab that balanced well with the bit of saltiness from the bacon! I sprinkled some red chili flakes and it just made my dinner more enjoyable!!! We also had a few appetizers like the oysters Rockefeller which was delish and the bacon wrapped scallops was fantastic. Service was quick and our server was attentive!! The carbonara dish should be on the regular menu and not just a Tuesday special.

Seafood for the masses. Still has a casual vibe after all these decades and still, a high price point. Drink up and you won't notice the ups and downs of the meal. Having met Bob about 15 years ago, I think he would be disappointed with the current state of things. One type of oyster was available, the blue point of Delaware, large, blobby, not particularly good, and served with the basic cocktail sauce and horseradish. If this was the first time I had an oyster, I wouldn't have one again. This place must have a premium seat at the auction to get better oysters, they just don't. That kind of sums it up. If you are an unsophisticated birthday party group with an unlimited budget, this is the place for you. Cheers!

    Mai Tai

Always a delicious seafood meal at Bob Chinn's! Our go-to is the Bairdi snow crab (you can pick two sides). The complimentary garlic rolls are so yummy, and if the blue crab claws (seasonal) are available, we order the entree size to share. The signature Mai Tai is okay, nothing special. I prefer the Prosecco. Service is attentive. Dining room is spacious. Great place for big groups.

    Mouth watering King crab legs!

We come here once or twice per year when we are in town. We are never disappointed! We tried the tuna pillows which were new to us - spicy tuna over rice puffs. So good! I had one of their special of the day - white fish Bobs way. Bobs way is a soy sauce based light sauce. Not overpowering at all. I like it with jasmine rice to take up some of the sauce. Snow crab California was also fresh and tasty. Sometimes, snow crab on sushi can be a little fishy but this was great! Cheesecake is consistently delicious qs well.

Food as always is amazing. But the bar staff is what makes us coming back for more. Thank you Jose, Cindy and Jesus for always making us feel like family.

Medium Shrimp (salt pepper), green beans, red potatoes. Filet Mignon, alfredo pasta, green beans. Snow crab.

Are the edamame and vegetable stir fry vegan? If so, do you offer any other vegan options?

The edamame is. The vegetable stir fry can be made vegetarian. No vegan options except that appetizer. No salads. The stir fry was amazing though!

How are the ousters like are they fresh?

    Yes they are fresh daily.

Is the Vegetable Stir Fry vegan?

    Not it is not sorry.

Is the fabulous salad bar open and operating, or am I dreaming during Covid-19?

It will be back eventually just not now.

    Are they open for dining?

We will be open in the dining room on Tuesday July 21st.

Is it possible to order take out on the garlicky bread rolls?

Yes, just tip very good and then ask for some extras. They will not be the same after reheat as we have tried this.

We were seated promptly in the formal dining room which was nicely decorated. Our semi-circular booth was spacious and comfortable. There were different sections in the restaurant that were more casual, tailored to the different tastes of the clients. Overall, food was delicious and portions were huge. I had a Boston Clam Chowder and a Gulf Grouper as the main. I would usually order a salad, but I didn't this time as each entrée came with a large plate of homemade roasted vegetables and wild rice. The Boston Clam Chowder had real pieces of clams in it. However, it was just lukewarm. My grouper looked great and tasted flavorful, but it was somewhat over-cooked (and therefore not tender), which was unfortunate. My wife had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and an order of Stuffed Flounder that had crabmeat sandwiched in the fish. She absolutely loved her choices. Our daughter had a Charbroiled Walleye and liked it too. Her only disappointment was the garlic bread being hard and dry. Our daughter and I each had a Chardonnay Stags Leap which was good, while my wife had a Virgin Mojito and truly enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the highlight of the night was the slice of tiramisu that our friendly and professional server Greg brought to me! It had a lit candle for my birthday, and Greg teamed up with two other waitresses enthusiastically sang me a happy birthday song! The tiramisu was excellent, creamy and not too sweet. I am not a dessert person but really appreciated this. I have a suggestion for the restaurant: as the portions were so large and each of us brought home half of it, it would have been nice that they make the portion 40% to 50% smaller, and lower the average price of $40 per entrée accordingly. It might help attract more customers. Just my two cents. All in all, I had a lovely birthday dinner at Boston Fish Market. Ambience was good, and service was outstanding. We will certainly return again.

I asked "where are our drinks" he check and 2 seconds later they were delivered. Our waitress seem a little frazzled and I caulked it up to a miss hap and we ordered apps and dinner since we had time to wait. For apps we ordered 1/2 dozen oysters & a scallop special that was recommended to us. The oyster were good. They had a great mignonete sauce & atomic horseradish cocktail sauce. The scallops had great presentation (the only thing I got a picture of) but we tough and way over cooked. For dinner my wife Asian sea bass and I ordered the 8oz filet with a side of asparagus we shared. About 1/2 way through our appetizer our waitress came back and said they were out of the Asian sea bass. She opted for the broiled sea bass instead. Waitress said no problem. Only to come back 15 mins later and tell us they are outta sea bass. Great. Went with the salmon. Entrees came out after the apps. Filet was great cooked to my liking. Also got a side an asparagus which was good. The salmon was average. We decided to order another round of drinks to go with dinner. They came near the end of the meal. My wife got the same wine she ordered originally but instead of a bourbon they brought me a scotch. I didn't notice at first. But by the time my meal ended and I took a second sip, I thought this is not bourbon its scotch. I didnt say anything just waited for our check and tried to salvage some good conversation over an underwhelming & expensive meal. Only to get the bill and find out they over charge me for all the drinks they served. The price on the menu was $15 and on the bill they were $20. I addressed this with the waitress who corrected it but it was just one disaster after another at this place. I think it's safe to say I won't be coming back here anytime soon with so many better steak houses in the area.

It's a small and cute shop, but there's so much to choose from. I wasn't very hungry so I decided to order three small items. I got the Georgian Cookie, Cottage Cheese Cookie with Walnut and Meringue, and the Syrniki. The Syrniki was PHENOMENAL and a dream. The outside is golden brown and the inside is so fluffy, the flavor was outstanding and made me want to savor every last morsel. My second favorite was the Georgian Cookie, which had a beautifully rich, nutty, and buttery flavor. The Cottage Cheese Cookie was great, but it was my least favorite of the three. I did come back here the next day and I ordered a Golden Raisin Syrniki (it was perfect in taste but could use more raisins), the Penovani (it was delicious and I was lucky when it just came out hot), and the Potato Pie (which I liked the least but it was still good). Overall, this is a great place to try and I highly recommend it. I'll be coming back

Social Inn has been on my to-try list for some time.  My husband and I finally had a chance to…read morecheck it out on a Monday evening recently.  I made a reservation via Tock that I already had an account for years, so that was simple. On a weekday evening, as expected, the restaurant was not busy.  We were promptly seated at a 4-top table (2 × 2-top) against the right wall, with some other 2-tops on both sides.  Like many reviewers had mentioned, the venue was beautiful, modern and chic. There were 7 tables occupied, including us.  The music that they had was not too loud, just that customers' conversations were amplified by the box shape open dining area.  If we focused enough, we could hear every conversation if we wanted to.  This was obvious when a table of about 6 women got seated at a table near the front door, some of them laughed and talked very loudly.  My husband and I just found it funny and didn't let that bother us.  However, when the restaurant is filled on busier days, it might be a different story. Our server, Patrick, was very nice and attentive.  Since they did not list drinks on their menu except those with alcohol, I asked him about non-alcoholic drinks.  After a brief "discussion", he asked me to leave it to him to make me a drink with mango.  He came up with a beautiful drink that was good and refreshing, with some mango flavor.  It was Virgin Paloma on our receipt for $8, which was reasonable.  He was very polite and checked in on us several times at appropriate times during our dinner.  The pace of the dinner was good, we spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes in the restaurant. Patrick might be the only waiter serving all the tables that evening, though. I also ordered Grilled Octopus ($22) which was very good, tender and flavorful, but was a little too salty to my taste.  The small pita bread wedges were warm and fluffy with some crispy edges, the beet hummus was creamy, and everything was delicious and tasted fresh.  I generously shared 2 little bites of octopus with my husband and I finished the entire plate, it was so good!  My husband really liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) and I shared a bite of that too.  He also had a House Salad for $6, that was a very good value.  He enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc Crossing ($12) too.  We also shared an order of Crème Brulee ($8), that was creamy and cooked perfectly.  We ordered a takeout order of Rigatoni with Sausage ($23), that was a good portion, and was still delicious and al dente the next day after being microwaved. I am so happy that we found Social Inn - a hidden gem in Plaza del Prado, it's not far from home, with comfortable and beautiful ambiance, excellent service (from Patrick), an attractive menu with enticing food (fresh ingredients and appealing plating), and reasonable prices, we will definitely be back!

We were in the area late in the day and remembered Social Inn was open, so we went. We ordered a variety of items. I had the Social Burger (at least 1/2 pound), we also ordered their chicken dinner salad and the beet hummus. Everything was delicious. I did order my burger medium and it was delivered well done, but it was still good. They also have one of the best gluten-free buns I've ever had. I do wish they were open at lunch time still, but I understand they need to be open for their busiest hours. Social Inn is a great option when you are in the Glenview area.
