    Wine tasting with Colleen
    Richard B.

Another fabulous wine tasting experience, thanks to Colleen, our outstanding wine steward. Her recommendations were spot on, and she made sure our glasses were never empty. General Manager Eric Fox and Nathan went above and beyond to seat us in a perfect spot in the dining room, setting the tone for a wonderful evening. Our server, Alyse M, was pleasant, knowledgeable, and delivered impeccable timing throughout the meal. Whether it's a special occasion or a date night, Cooper's Hawk in Wheeling never disappoints. You always get it right!

For real this place was all great until the end ( otherwise I would have left a better review) My husband had been wanting to come here for a while and we finally did. First impression walking in was nice, it looks like a fun place to go with the little retail and tasting room. The host was super nice ( Michelle I believe is her name) The waitress was a bit off but she was fine too The nice touch is they give you samples before you decide on which wine you want. Appetizers were good specially the drunken shrimps AMAZING! Entrees were also delicious and dessert not so much. The waitress offered me a sample of their special wine of the month and I liked it. I ordered a glass of it So ALL great up to here. We paid and on our way out we checked the little retail place they have and I see the bottle of the wine I had just had, grabbed it, waited for the person to check out to only find out that you can't buy it unless you sign up for their wine program and commit to at least 1 bottle per month, so this was a big no for us. They should have a price for members and a more expensive option for non members so not sure how fun can be to have their own wines but limit the sales. Idk if it's just me but this was the worst way to end our delicious experience here. Is also wanted to buy a gift card for my parents for the wine tasting but at this point I'm not even sure if I can even do that or if it's also only for members

Nice Mothers Day meal. The prime sandwich is always a winner! Wasn't really impressed with the Asian slaw side. Tried the special mocha tiramisu and it was delicious but very rich so would suggest sharing. Service was impeccable (it was Mother's Day of course haha). Free glass of Champaign for moms which was cool. Cute little surprise was a duck nesting in one of the flower beds.

Delicious food, great service and a fantastic wine selection. Cooper's Hawk features their own wines as well as a popular selection of additional wines. We were served warm pretzel bread to start and were offered seconds! Both entrées were cooked to perfection and were served up nice and hot. We sat in the bar which had 80's tunes in the background, slightly dimmed lighting and candles on the high top tables, perfect for a casual evening for two! We hadn't been to Cooper's Hawk in several years, but have added back to our list!

I have been to this Cooper Hawk location on numerous occasions. This is a very nice restaurant w/a beautiful ambiance & a good variety of delicious foods. As always my wife and I stop @ the wine bar for a tasting of Cooper Hawks wines before going to the dining room for dinner. We always ask for Susan as she has a humorous personality & a very good knowledge on the wines & always seems to offer a good selection during the tasting. She really seems to enjoy her work as the customers also enjoy her knowledge & humor. She's a great asset for Cooper Hawk. Thanks for the great service Susan until next time.

Came here for a work celebration dinner. This was my first time eating at Cooper's Hawk since being diagnosed with celiac outside of wine dinners. They have a separate GF menu with lots of options. The server brought out GF bread. We ordered a pitcher of the raspberry sangria, GF burrata, lettuce wraps and brussel sprouts to share. Everything was delicious! I also had the GF country gnocchi and crème brûlée. Can't wait to try other options.

Everything went perfectly during this visit to Cooper's Hawk. My party of 8 had a reservation and we were seated right on time. Our server, Brendan, was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The food was delicious, as always.

In search of comfort food after a trying day, we stopped at Cooper's Hawk. Short rib quesadilla was a special appetizer. It was very tasty and prompted me to order the short rib grilled cheese paired with tomato bisque. So good! It's still summer, so we ordered a bottle of bubbly sangria, which was delicious. Our server was attentive and helpful.

I love the food at coopers Hawk. The staff was very friendly and the location is gorgeous. The gnocchi and Thai chicken wraps were amazing.

I have visited this location many times over the years as a lot of people really enjoy it. Ambiance: The pluses are an enjoyable ambiance. Upscale causal atmosphere. Relaxing to chat & relax. Food: Standouts were the Drunken Shrimp appetizer. Bacon wrapped with tequila lime butter sauce & fresh guacamole. Very fresh & juicy start to a meal but only 6 large shrimps. Bread was warm & fresh out of the oven. I think it was a pretzel style bread. Scallop Gratin was super delicious, a large serving & a chef recommend item on their menu. Pretzel Crusted Pork Chop today was just ok tasting but previously the best pork chop I had on past visits. The Pistachio Crusted Grouper & Parmesan Crusted Fillet Medallions were alright. Drink: Enjoyed the "Bubbles" flight. Cooper's Hawk Lux Sparkling & Almond Sparkling were my favorites. Parking: This place gets busy & the lot is very small. Allow extra time on the weekends. Service: I've always had excellent service in the many times I've been here. Once, last yr, something needed to be rectified & the female manager was so apologetic, super nice & professional. Today, service was great too. Efficient is how I would describe it. Reservations: Make one. This is a popular place that gets packed on the weekends. Overall: Get the scallop gratin, wine flight & enjoy the ambiance.

Cooper's Hawk is such a fun spot. Upscale but not too pricey, great deals for wine club memberships & wine tastings. My favorite dish is the chicken piccata. Lobster bisque is also great. Susan is my favorite at the wine bar, have not seen her as much recently- she helped me and my cousin sign up for wine memberships, great deal if you like wine. She always provides such a memorable experience for me and my family. Management here is also very attentive. Jose is a great server too, can't say enough about the awesome staff here.

Loved the wine pairing suggestions for each dish and the server was happy to bring tastes of wine so we got what we wanted. Food was good, but 3 star not more. Solid, nice presentation but not inventive. Nice lively casual ambiance.

Ask the Community - Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant

It's April and still cold and rainy :( Do they have heaters on their patio?

Hi Alex! We do have heaters on our patio. We'd recommend giving your local Cooper's Hawk a call the day you plan to dine with us to confirm they are seating outside: (847) 215-1200

Now that indoor dining is closed again, is the patio heated?

I was there recently and they had heaters on the patio.

Do they wine tastings on Mondays and Tuesdays?

Yes. Anytime the restaurant is open, the tasting bar is open. You can just walk in and do a tasting at any point.

    Any vegan options?

Yes! There are a few good options. One may require requesting no cheese in the enchiladas. Another is a quinoa dish. Both very tasty!

Is the wine tasting free? Or do you have to pay for whatever you try?

The sweet and variety tastings are $8 per person. The lux tasting is $13 per person and includes a complimentary truffle or strawberry. If you are a 2 bottle wine club member you get two complimentary sweet or variety tastings per month. If you are… Read more

As this was just down the street from our office in the Kemper Business District, she thought this would be a cool place to hang out to recap the year for our department and she was right. The place itself is a cute house with what looks like a cool outdoor space, when the weather is nicer. Inside is a small bar when you first walk through the front door. We we seated in a small room off from the main bar, next to a lovely fireplace. We started out with charcuterie boards. Prices range from 4 pieces for $30, 6 pieces for $46 and 8 pieces for $58. The selection of meats and cheeses and were very nice, but the prices seemed steep. The cheeses and meats were as follows: Wooley Rind (Green Dirt Farm) - soft ripened sheep's milk MontAmore (Sartori) - semi firm Italian style Cheddar Goat Gouda (Central Coast Creamery) - crumbly aged goat cheese "Creamy Sexy Blue" - German triple cream cow's milk with blue veining Jamon Serrano, aged 24 months Stagberry - Elk Salami with dried blueberries Finocchiona - Tuscan style salami with fennel seed Pig & Fig Terrine - Country style pork pate with dried figs, cinnamon, ginger All were very good and had a lovely flavor. Due to the number of people nibbling, I asked for extra bread and was treated with toasted sourdough, which was very nice. For dinner, I got the Chicken Tinga Panini (Tomato-Chipotle Chicken, Queso Oaxaca, Arugula, served with Salsa Verde & Guacamole). This was a very good sandwich. I loved the idea of Chicken Tinga in a sandwich format, and it worked. I had saved half of it to take home to have for breakfast the next day, but got wrapped up in good-byes and walked out and left it. Man I was mad! My manager ordered the Roasted Beets (with whipped Feta cheese, toasted pistachios, red onion, dill and a red wine vinaigrette). The serving was huge! She loves beets and said that the dish was very good A few people got the Broccoli Cheddar soup and said it was very good. I wanted to try the oysters as I love East Coast ones, but at $20 for 6, couldn't wrap my mind around that. The wine list was pretty good and on this particular night, we got bottles for a crazy low price. My manager got a bottle of red (can't remember the name) that was $75, but she got it for half price. Same for me for a lovely bottle of sparkling rose. The hostess had a list of wines on her tablet that she showed us as well that were 50% off. The location is quite a drive from Chicago, but the times I have to go to Lake Zurich for team meetings, I may just stop in to camp out for eats and drinks while waiting for my Uber and rush hour traffic to die out.

Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery - Vernon Hills, IL…read more Overall Rating: Highly Recommended Feather Glass is a fantastic spot that nails the wine bar experience with a beautiful, modern aesthetic and top-tier service. While the food is incredibly tasty, a few minor tweaks to the composition and seasoning of certain dishes would make the experience truly flawless. The Highlights: Drinks, Ambience, & Service * The Flights: We thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and mimosa flights. They are well-curated, beautifully presented, and a great way to sample their extensive selection. * Atmosphere: The ambience is excellent and sophisticated, making it one of the most visually appealing spots in Vernon Hills. * Service: The staff provides excellent service--attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. Food Feedback & Suggestions * Mediterranean Flatbread: Very flavorful, but the olives can make it quite salty. Adding a balsamic glaze would provide a sweet contrast to balance out the saltiness. * Beet Salad: Features fresh, high-quality ingredients. This dish would benefit from a touch more salt and a bit more acid (like a bright vinegar) in the dressing to really highlight the earthy beets. * Paneer Palak Bites: A delicious fusion idea, but the execution was slightly misleading and difficult to eat. The bread lacked the expected toasted crispiness, and because the paneer is served in a thin slice, it often slides off, leaving the sauce on the plate. * Suggestion: Try chopping the paneer into small cubes, bruschetta-style, and mixing them directly with the sauce. Layering that mixture onto a properly toasted baguette would create a much more stable and crunchy bite while keeping the great texture of the cheese. Final Verdict Despite these small suggestions, this is a great restaurant that you should definitely check out. The flavors are delicious and the overall experience is wonderful.

We were a little surprised when nothing was done for it, which isn't a big deal, but I'll be honest it was disappointing since we did come specifically to celebrate and had talked about it w our server. 3/5 Arancini - Very salty. None of us really enjoyed them because of that. They also came out lukewarm instead of hot. Would have been excellent if it was less salty and came out hot and crispy. 5/5 Fig & Mushroom (subbed for prosciutto) - The menu doesn't specify how the fig is served. Turned out to be fig jam rather than fresh fig, which wasn't what we expected. A little too sweet for me but overall still very much enjoyed it. Their pizza was cooked perfectly with enough toppings and cheese. Very good pizza! 5/5 Braised Short Rib + Polenta - so good! The short rib was excellent, just slightly salty. The polenta was perfect, and it came with a generous portion of wild mushrooms. 2/5 White Wine Cake (recommended as "unique") by our server - This was the most disappointing meal item. Our waitress told us it was special, but it was very bland and didn't match the description or image on their website. Their website showed a cake with a large scoop of ice cream on top, fair amount of whipped cream and raspberry sauce. Ours came with maybe a quarter of the size of that ice cream scoop, a little teaspoon dollop of whipped cream that you eat in one bite and the raspberry sauce was a tiny smear on bottom for decor but there wasn't enough to actually eat it. The cake itself was moist but lacked flavor. It took a really long time to come out, we thought perhaps they forgot, then forgetting we were celebrating a birthday on top of that was disappointing. Atmosphere - Beautiful space, very well done. The only issue is how close the tables are, you can't pull your chair back without hitting someone, and getting to the bathroom requires asking others to move because of how tight the layout is. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would return. While there were a few dishes we wouldn't order again, and others we would. Would love to try the wild mushroom pizza next time! The only thing was that since we had come to celebrate a birthday and didn't end up doing that, the night felt a little less special than we had expected--but still a nice experience overall.

The strawberry-basil shrub was a key ingredient, and I don't get to a lot of places that use a shrub in their drinks. There was definitely a STRONG vinegar taste but for me, that was great. I also ordered a pasta dish, orecchiette and sausage with peas and a sweet, creamy sauce. Orecchiette and sausage are such a classic combo and I hadn't had this sauce before; it was a pleasant dish and was perfectly al dente. Service was good for the bar area.
