Social Inn has been on my to-try list for some time.  My husband and I finally had a chance to check it out on a Monday evening recently.  I made a reservation via Tock that I already had an account for years, so that was simple. On a weekday evening, as expected, the restaurant was not busy.  We were promptly seated at a 4-top table (2 × 2-top) against the right wall, with some other 2-tops on both sides.  Like many reviewers had mentioned, the venue was beautiful, modern and chic. There were 7 tables occupied, including us.  The music that they had was not too loud, just that customers' conversations were amplified by the box shape open dining area.  If we focused enough, we could hear every conversation if we wanted to.  This was obvious when a table of about 6 women got seated at a table near the front door, some of them laughed and talked very loudly.  My husband and I just found it funny and didn't let that bother us.  However, when the restaurant is filled on busier days, it might be a different story. Our server, Patrick, was very nice and attentive.  Since they did not list drinks on their menu except those with alcohol, I asked him about non-alcoholic drinks.  After a brief "discussion", he asked me to leave it to him to make me a drink with mango.  He came up with a beautiful drink that was good and refreshing, with some mango flavor.  It was Virgin Paloma on our receipt for $8, which was reasonable.  He was very polite and checked in on us several times at appropriate times during our dinner.  The pace of the dinner was good, we spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes in the restaurant. Patrick might be the only waiter serving all the tables that evening, though. I also ordered Grilled Octopus ($22) which was very good, tender and flavorful, but was a little too salty to my taste.  The small pita bread wedges were warm and fluffy with some crispy edges, the beet hummus was creamy, and everything was delicious and tasted fresh.  I generously shared 2 little bites of octopus with my husband and I finished the entire plate, it was so good!  My husband really liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) and I shared a bite of that too.  He also had a House Salad for $6, that was a very good value.  He enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc Crossing ($12) too.  We also shared an order of Crème Brulee ($8), that was creamy and cooked perfectly.  We ordered a takeout order of Rigatoni with Sausage ($23), that was a good portion, and was still delicious and al dente the next day after being microwaved. I am so happy that we found Social Inn - a hidden gem in Plaza del Prado, it's not far from home, with comfortable and beautiful ambiance, excellent service (from Patrick), an attractive menu with enticing food (fresh ingredients and appealing plating), and reasonable prices, we will definitely be back! read more

It's been a while since I went to Social Inn. They used to be open for lunch as well as dinner, and that was easier for me to get to. We were in the area late in the day and remembered Social Inn was open, so we went. We ordered a variety of items. I had the Social Burger (at least 1/2 pound), we also ordered their chicken dinner salad and the beet hummus. Everything was delicious. I did order my burger medium and it was delivered well done, but it was still good. They also have one of the best gluten-free buns I've ever had. I do wish they were open at lunch time still, but I understand they need to be open for their busiest hours. Social Inn is a great option when you are in the Glenview area. read more

I was there last week and was so ready to enjoy! But I was disappointed. The martini I ordered took 20min (I even went to the bar and asked if it was ready) bartender said he was working on it. Then, it took forever to find a server that would take our order. Once he got to us we ordered our appetizer and dinner for fear he wouldn't come back. The food is delicious, tho. It wasn't crowded but still they did not have enough waitstaff and there was one bartender for the entire restaurant. That's why I'm giving a 3. They just didn't seem to care. read more

Went here recently with my sister and it was a pretty good place to dine in. Went in during a week day for early dinner. It wasn't busy until maybe 6-7pm. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The space is very modern, bright and open. We shared the steak, brussel sprouts, rigatoni and the chocolate cake. Everything was very delicious! Will definitely come back :). read more

I recently visited with a group of people on a Saturday night. Truth be told. I had no idea this place even existed until my friends said, "Hey, let's go to the Social Inn!" So I looked at their menu online and it looked pretty good. So let's dig into it. It has a pretty decent menu with lots of options whether you eat meat or don't. Our party was there for the first time so we had to get some apps, salad, and mains. I ordered a caesar salad with dressing on the side. It arrived with the dressing on it (no big deal) in a huge bowl and could have easily served three people. It was a good salad and the dressing was not overpowering. I also ordered one of the specials of the evening (based on our server's recommendation). I got the gnocchi. It was a cheese filled gnocchi smothered in a tomato vodka sauce. It was really, really good and not a huge portion. My wife ordered the red and gold beet hummus which ended up being hummus with beets on top - not what she expected. And she got a salad as well that was pretty good. Another friend ordered the farfalle noodle dish. She said it lacked flavor and there was a ton of it. Lastly, the other couple ordered the lamb and chicken + thyme. Both liked their dishes. Though the chicken dish was drowning in sauce. Overall, it was a pretty good place. We tried Social Inn for Mother's Day dinner. The dining room is reminiscent of a modern living room/dining room. The one downside is there are many hard surfaces so the room is loud even though it's not very big. We ordered the octopus appetizer which featured a grilled tentacle plus hummus and pita. It was a nice start. For our main courses I had the chicken and thyme dish, my mother ordered the chicken kabob and my husband ordered the pork chop masala because the osso bucco was not available. Overall the food was good but nothing we need to return for. The chicken and thyme came with mash carrot purée. I thought it would be carrots but it was a mix of potatoes and carrots. The pork chops were big and had a lot of mushrooms in the sauce. The kabob was good although my mom was disappointed it didn't include vegetables. We looked at the dessert options but nothing called out to us. The crème brûlée was also not available. The service was pleasant. If you haven't been to Social Inn it's worth a try. read more

A delicious spot that gets all the little details right, this is an ideal place to host a special event or to have a special meal. The decor is elegant, with a more modern feel among the furniture yet fun lantern accents on the ceiling and a very cool bar with a lots of colors from the bottles and lights. The plating and silverware follow this more upscale feel as well though the prices aren't too high for the awesome presentation that you get with your food (exceeding sometimes even what you're getting on nicer cruises) and speedy service. I also like the menu variety with lots of different options to fit a variety of cravings from hummus to carpaccio to burgers to pastas to steaks to roasted meats. This really suits any mixed group well as everyone can enjoy a distinctly different meal. The food here is definitely the star. Again, the presentation really shines here as everything is plated in a very organized manner that really gives each meal a more premium feel. Fortunately, the flavors here are just as good -- with extra points for the quality of all the non-meat options. Everything from the homemade hummus to eggplant chutney to cucumber salad to tzatziki sauce to crispy potatoes are super flavorful and seasoned just right. Most importantly, the vegetables are clearly fresh and flavor really comes through well -- pairing perfectly with their delicious pita bread. But don't underestimate the tender slow roasted lamb or delicious pasta options here either. They are prepared with just as much care and a well balanced flavor. Desserts such as the chocolate cake also follow this theme -- nicely plated, full of flavor, and a small element that helps to elevate the flavor of the main item. Overall, an excellent spot to enjoy a delicious meal. The presentation alone is well worth bringing someone to have a meal here and having the deliciousness of the food to match this presentation is a plus. If you also like the fresh and healthy flavor of Mediterranean food, this is definitely a top option for you. read more

The food at Social Inn is ok. The calamari was not greasy. The lamb shank was suitably cooked. The 1 star rating arises from the incredibly loud noise level in the restaurant. Think of being on the side a a runway when a military jet is taking off. I.e., no jet noise control. The servers come around to the table. Their mouths move, but unless your ear is inches from them, you cannot hear anything. Don't even think about talking to anyone at your table unless they are sitting next to you or directly across from them. Any one else at the table might as well be in downtown Chicago. You will have to text them. Clearly the restaurant needs some modifications to alleviate the sound level. Perhaps a cloth hanging under the ceiling. Or drapes on the walls. An acoustic expert is far more qualified than I to know what it needs. In any case, I am never going back. read more

This is simply one of the best restaurants on the North Shore, and is easily our no-brainer Go To place. Our Valentine's Day dinner was super with their multi course special menu. I had the Mediterranean Sea Bass and my wife enjoyed the Surf 'n Turf. All were cooked to perfection with great flavor. The special salad with "First Date" (as in young dates fruit) added an interesting flavor to the gentle tone of the dressing. The included sparkling glass of wine and our choice of Chardonnay paired perfectly with our food. The baklava cheesecake topped it off as a tasty dessert. The hostess owner, Daniela, always makes us feel like family and the service at Social Inn has never disappointed. Some commentators have complained about noise levels in their reviews. We have never found it overwhelming at Social Inn; the atmosphere is welcoming just as their name suggests. Highest recommendation! read more

This place looks like a scaled-down Hampton Social, conspicuously the "ivy" panels suspended from the ceiling. An elegantly backlit bar is the focal point of the dining room. The extensive beverage menu and a long list of shareable apps draw in a young professional crowd. Tables are mostly 2-tops which can be easily rearranged into 4-tops or larger. Food is uniquely Bulgarian-ish Mediterranean. We went here for dinner on Valentine's Day. Our bad because it's generally not fair to base a restaurant review on an initial visit during a busy Holiday, when things are more likely to go awry. Since an owner did try to make amends, I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 2. My Missus and I decided to forgo the apps and focus on main courses. Unfortunately we waited for nearly ONE HOUR before so much as a morsel of food arrived at our table. And then our server delivered only one of our two entrées - her cedar plank salmon. Mine? He replied hurriedly, "The other dish is coming!" But an additional 12 minutes elapsed before my duck breast fillet finally arrived. Meanwhile, we expressed our displeasure to a co-owner, who apologized and offered us dessert on the house. The food, high-quality and well-prepared, was quite good. But our entrées did not wow us. Portions were adequate but not generous. Perhaps we would have done better to follow the example of other diners who were sipping cocktails and feasting on hefty app platters (which did not require long prep times) in lieu of cooked entrées. By the time we ordered dessert - lemon sponge cake - the room was no longer busy. But we endured yet another inexplicable wait. For cripes sake, it does not take 15 minutes to plate two slices of cake! Moreover our server neglected to bring forks, so again we had to flag down the co-owner. A leisurely pace appears to be the norm here. But an absurdly glacial pace with stumbling service is not acceptable. read more

The Social Inn In - Plaza Del Prado....First visit impressions. After driving by it in our daily business for two years we gave it a try last night with another couple. I'm happy to report that the food is fresh, well executed and well plated. The menu has something for everyone. The decor is nice. The staff is professional and well informed. The Wine list and drink menu is well selected. Highlights: -Crispy Brussels Sprouts with goat cheese creme - More please. Easily the stand out of the evening. Huge flavors and amazing texture -Whitefish - Great execution, nice sized filet and the sauce was excellent. Our dinner companion enjoyed it. -Pork Shank Ossobuco - My wife enjoyed it very much. Well done in a red tomato sauce, nice flavors. -Skewer Shrimp - Fresh and well made, sauce could use a bit more flavor per our dinner companion. -Mussels Over Spaghetti and white sauce. - Mussels were fresh, pasta was perfectly cooked and the white parsley sauce was seasoned perfectly to let those fresh bivalves shine. Kudos in the restraint shown by the chef. This may have been the best, simplest execution of this dish I've tasted which can often be too salty and too much garlic. Talk about a hidden gem. This place is tucked into a shopping center and you have to be looking for it in order to find it. But you will be glad that you made the effort to find Social Inn because my husband and I had a great experience there. We started off our meal with the Social Spreads (homemade hummus, roasted red pepper and eggplant chutney, creamed Feta and yogurt mixed with Persian cucumbers, house baked pita bread). The dips were phenomenal. My favorite was the roasted red pepper spread. It was sweet and deep in flavor. For entrees I had the Slow Roasted Lamb (roasted to juicy perfection, paired with crispy wedge potatoes, soft pita bread, house-made tzatziki and tomato and cucumber salad), while my husband had the Rigatoni with Sausage (large tubular pasta with homemade sausage and peas, light tomato cream cheese). Both of these dishes were large and seasoned well. You could really taste the lamb flavor that the slow cooking brought out! To finish our meal, we had the classic chocolate cake. It was smaller than expected but the taste was huge! Our server was very nice and friendly. We had a great time and can't wait to come back and try more of their menu. First timer to this restaurant. Came here for a networking event with others. After a quick relocation for the group had some nice drinks, the Old Fashioned and wine was popular. I had the Revolution draft beer. The Special Burger and Across The Board charcuterie were hits. I had the salmon which was yummy, but appears I missed the cherry tomato salad. Overall the group liked the food, although some of the prices where perhaps a tad higher than other places, but this is Glenview :-) read more

I made reservations online to meet with a friend here for dinner. Once we checked in with the host, we were greeted and seated right away. Since I came here during the summer months, they also had outdoor seating but both times I visited, I opted to dine inside. I liked the nice and simple interiors of the place. After my first visit, I came back after a month because I wanted to try their other dishes. They have a good selection of cocktails, wines, and beers. For food, I've tried: FRESCA BARBA- fresh and delicious SOCIAL BURGER- The meat was juicy and done well ACROSS THE BOARD- I wish there were more than 2 kinds of cheeses SLOW ROASTED LAMB- great flavors, super tender lamb, but it took quite a while for this dish to come. NAPOLEON CAKE- light and very enjoyable. This dessert also took a while to be served. Overall, I am glad that Social Inn opened in this Glenview neighborhood. What a wonderful surprise! The food was delicious. We ordered the chicken skewers, the octopus appetizer, the slow roasted lamb, and pasta with mussels in an Arrabiata sauce. Everything was amazing! They serve rice, pita and hummus with most of the dishes. The rice is a delicious buttery, rice with peas and carrots, the pita was homemade and delicious and the hummus was terrific. Dined in on a weeknight with 4 friends and had a great experience. The service was impeccable, with the waitress constantly filling our water and checking in and even offering to take a picture for us. We opted to split 6 appetizers. Crispy calamari - Delicious, fresh, and crispy. Loved the sriracha aioli. The breading was a bit thick. Social spreads - House baked pita was fluffy and toasted well. We could have used more pita bread. Spreads were pretty basic and not very flavorful. The hummus was my favorite. Burrata Caprese - Big piece of burrata surrounded by tomato and arugula. Very fresh tasting. Fried zucchini - The zucchini could have been sliced thinner and more crispy. The house sauce is not remarkable and needs more flavor. Mozza+Feta - Surprisingly delicious take on a mozzarella stick. Great cheesy flavor and soft texture, but the house sauce could be more flavorful. Truffle Fries - Great texture, but could use more truffle flavor. Fun trendy decor inside and a small outdoor area. Great addition to Glenview. read more

My coworker and I came here for a casual dinner to catch up on a Tuesday. The ambiance is chic and relaxing. As it was relatively empty, we chose a spot on the wall at a booth. We started off with a cocktail, both were delicious and unique. Next we split the beet hummus, before moving on to a burger and salad split for dinner. All the food was good though a tomato salad in the winter is not optimal, service was perfect and well paced. Only downside was I could see it being a bit loud if it gets more crowded. read more

Newish suburban place in a strip mall spot that used to be a deli/soup/smoothie joint. Now turned into a Mediterranean inspired restaurant that's certainly worth the trip. Knowing what the space was before, it was cool to see its conversion into a warm, intimate room...one that was buzzy and pretty full...usually a good sign. We had seen our server in ads for the Social Inn, which kicked off a nice conversation. She was friendly and attentive and knew the menu well. A few of the specials had sold out (there were several different options on a printed sheet of paper to augment the menu) -- so we ordered from the menu. Thyme Chicken with whipped carrots god great reviews, as did the grappa rigatoni. I had the burger, which was served in a black charcoal bun. Feta and hummus made the burger different (but not necessarily great...just a burger) but the truffle fries were terrify and I was sad I couldn't finish them.... ...which was because of the AWESOME appetizer we had -- a combination d house made pita and several different dips. I swear I could have eaten two entire platters. Nice bar, some interesting specialty cocktails, and a small but serviceable list of wines by the glass. Apparently a family owned spot. We came here on a double date with friends. The restaurant is really good by Northbrook standards (my hometown, where I am perpetually disappointed with either the quality of the food or the prices or both) and average by Chicago standards. As you can see in the photo, the dining room is new, attractive and wide open- therefore quite noisy. Service was attentive and the menu appealing. We got two pasta dishes that were not quite al dente as promised, but reasonably fresh and tasty. We also shared the Burrata Caprese which frankly sucked (underripe tomatoes, hard burrata, missing basil, and inadequate balsamic reduction) and the Social Spreads which was stingy on the pita and chutney. Our friends were also mostly pleased but under-excited about their pasta and fish. Finally worth mentioning, I got the pomegranate margarita which had salt on the glass (totally wrong for a fruity drink) and was just a bit off in flavor. My wife got a glass of wine which took awhile sorting through a couple of glasses that were not good. I find that people in my area don't demand much from fine dining establishments, so this place will do great. The more discriminating diner will have to decide whether to drive a distance for exciting cuisine and ambiance or settle for a decent place in town. read more

We went here for a friends birthday dinner. They have a cute setup with live music and a fun atmosphere. It took a very long time to have someone come over to our table and take our order. It then took a while to get our drinks. When it was time to order food. We ordered all appetizers and main course at once and asked him to space it out. Nearly 45mins later all the food came out at once and was extremely salty. I enjoyed the beet salad the most out of all the food we ordered. read more

I cannot believe anyone has given this place 4 stars. Our waitress was MIA for most of our time there. She never came back on her own accord to ask if we wanted another drink, or to clear some plates. In fact, no one ever came by to clear any plates. We had to go to the hostess stand twice to get our waitress. The place wasn't even busy. I was in the hospitality industry for most of my career. This is a poorly run restaurant. It's definitely a nice place, lovely ambiance. Great server named Carlos. But, the food was just meh. Just Ok. Mediocre. Food were presentable and instagrammable but just meh. We had the "social spread" and crispy zucchini for appetizers, dips lacked flavour, the zucchini weren't crispy at all, and a bit more on the greasy side.. My boyfriend and I, shared a chicken kebab, more than enough for the two of us, and again, the chicken + rice that went along with it lacked flavour. On a Friday nite, it wasn't busy at all, which to us, gives an impression that "that's not a good sign". Would I come back and recommend this place? Maybe in 2 years.. Super excited for this new restaurant in Glenview! Been here twice now and haven't been disappointed! We've tried their: Cheeseboard - lots of variety of meats. Could've used more cheese quantity and variety to balance all the meats served. But overall a beautiful board to go with your drinks Mussels with red sauce - the mussels were fresh, warm, and the red sauce was dip worthy. So good! It's hard to find good mussels these days but this hit the spot. Octopus - cooked perfectly! Such a good sized octopus that it's easily shareable Crispy zucchini - a great shareable appetizer with the best white sauce dip. It's addicting. Drinks FIG OLD FASHIONED. must try. It was a great old fashioned and came in a fancy fun glass! Spicy Paloma - spicy and refreshing! I personally like the old fashioned more but I also am a sucker for a good old fashioned. Love the atmosphere. The decorations were so cute- bringing downtown vibes to the suburbs. A great place to bring the family for dinner or even happy hour with the girls! The food was good. Not great. I had the lamb. It did not have much seasoning and came with 4 small wedges of potato. The spinach and goat cheese salad didn't have a lot of flavor either. I had wanted the mussels but when we got there at 6:30 they were already out. 2 people ordered Diet Coke. They brought drinks out but we questioned whether or not it was diet and someone came out and said they didn't have Diet Coke because someone set up something wrong. No one came back to give us more water. I wanted to like this place but I don't think we will be back. read more
